Solar Egas Moniz - Charming House & Local Experiences

Loved this place! It’s such a cozy spot if you’re planning to visit the north of Portugal. Iva and Natalia take care of you with all their hearts and you can really feel their warmth and hospitality. The bed is super comfortable, the rooms are spacious, and the atmosphere is incredibly calm. There’s also a pool with sun loungers, perfect for relaxing on a sunny day, and a huge living room where you can unwind or read a book. Everything was spotlessly clean. The location is great too, peaceful yet close enough to explore the town and there is also parking. We had such a relaxing stay. Highly recommended!

The picture-perfect, charming, and extremely comfortable villa is matched by it's wonderful hostesses, Iva & Natalia. They saw to every need of our rather large and diverse group of 15. The rooms are well appointed and the pool was a delight to return after a day out sight-seeing and/or hiking. The dining room and living rooms accommodated a social and convivial atmosphere, but there were also enough quiet nooks and crannies for down time. Solar Egas Moniz is conveniently located about 1/2 hr away from Porto and historic villages, such as Guimaraes. Quite a wonderful vacation!

Solar Egas Moniz is a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends: with beautifully appointed ensuite bedrooms, each with its own decorative theme; a large and cheerful dining room; a well-maintained, spacious garden and pool area; game room, and more. The location was perfect for us: nestled in a quiet, picturesque village with easy access to nature trails, rivers and waterfalls, yet only a 35-minute drive (or train ride) to the delights of Porto. Most importantly, our hosts Iva and Natalia welcomed us with open arms and graciously anticipated our every need. In short, a memorable and renewing experience.

We had a wonderful stay at this amazing villa! Eva and her dedicated team did everything they could to make us feel welcome, comfortable and pampered!||The gorgeous bedrooms are large and spacious, the en suite bathrooms are well equipped with plenty of towels, etc. ||The public areas - diningroom, lounge and sitting room - are all well-appointed with all that you could ask for, from large TV screens to fireplaces, a fully- stocked bar to a library... and more! ||The very well maintained grounds include a beautiful swimming pool, games room, barbecue area with a taboon, and a delightful inner courtyard. ||The kitchen is extremely week equipped with masses of cooking, eating and serving utensils. It is set to very well to allow for the catering to large groups. ||Thank you, Eva, for taking such good care of us... we'd love to visit again sometime soon!

If you have the opportunity to rent this villa, RUN, don't walk to do it!!! We are a group of retirees who travel together and have rented villas all over the world---Hungary, Italy, Spain, France, Mexico, Morocco, etc. In all the years we've been renting villas, we have NEVER had an experience like we had at Solar Egas Moniz. The location is great---easy access to Porto, and all the surrounding towns, and close to the train station. The rooms are beyond comfortable, with upscale furnishings, delicious bedding, plenty of essentials and many thoughtful extras. The kitchen is the best stocked we've ever encountered, and, without our asking, Iva, the manager, had shopped for basics which were there when we arrived---milk, coffee, bread, condiments, fruit, eggs, oils, etc. There was also a home baked scrumptious chocolate cake, courtesy of the housekeeper, still warm from her oven! Fresh rolls and pastries were delivered to our door every morning from the local bakery. And Iva made their wine cellar available to us (payment on the honor system) which we very much appreciated. Her father, the wine collector, has a very discerning palate! You won't find a better equipped home or a warmer more caring staff available anywhere!!!

This well-maintained, immaculate home, with a pool and jungle gym, was the perfect place for our vacation. The hostess, Iva, couldn't have been more accomodating and helpful. Fresh delicious rolls were delivered daily, the house was cleaned mid-week, garbage removed daily, the rooms comfortable, the hot water, plentiful. There is a ping pong table and bikes with helmets--everything you need for a lovely vactaion. Only 30 min drive from Porto--have the urban experience, and then relax in the country!

The best hospitality we've ever experienced anywhere in the world. Iva and Natalia are the best hosts and are so helpful every day booking cabs, restaurants etc. It's our second time here and it definitely won't be the last. Tchau Tchau! Bye
