Sole East Beach

I very much enjoy visiting Montauk when I want a relaxing, easy out east experience. Because we only travel with our dog, staying at a place that meets all of our needs is very important. We often dine at Sole East but always stay at Sole Beach. The proximity to the beach and town is unbeatable. During a visit earlier in the summer, our car remained parked the entire weekend as we explored Montauk on foot. The rooms are spacious, and there is the option to sit on one of the Adirondack chairs outside of the rooms to enjoy quiet reading or whatever you choose.

sole east resort has a stellar reputation, but the beach property is a complete nightmare.||The rooms at the motel were an all day/night rave - with about 12 boys blasting music with a strobe light - and their door open - until 3am. we complained multiple times and the situation persisted.||The lack of security was appalling. the front desk was never staffed. Bongs, weed, and empty beer bottles with left outside our door. This was supposed to be a pet/kid friendly location, but these items were just left open for the taking - or for animals / children to ingest. Not to mention it invites unwelcome, non-guests. It was a total safety hazard and just simply disgusting - especially considering the price.||We never would have stayed here had we known it was a party hotel for 18-21 year olds.||You need to disclose that this property is an entirely different experience and not up to the same standard as the resort. And prices need to reflect that. It’s wildly misleading to even share the same brand name, as the two properties are not AT ALL the same.||Additionally, the AC unit did not work. The room remained at 80 degrees the entire stay.||On our last night, they offered to relocate us via text, but it was far too little too late. Since leaving, I have yet to receive a call from anyone attempting to rectify the situation.

I would say a little bit pricey for the hotel (~800 usd) for 2 nights on the last summer season week on Columbus day-> long weekend. Just stayed with my wife at sole's beach. Unfortunately, this establishment is under neglect. they haven't put any updates or money into this place since their initial renovation some 15+ years ago. Very disappointed in our room. Literally no Art or decor on the walls, Luke warm showers at best. Bathroom door would not actually close. The TV would not shut off flatscreen literally the size of a laptop we had to pull the plug every night. Our "one" Adirondack chair Was rotted and broken. The list goes on and on...The positives: great location to the ocean beach (30 yards across the road) The maid service was very good they always kept the room extremely picked up and tight. The beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately, whoever owns this establishment needs to shut it down, renovate + update their fake posh look they are going for. They are currently running on empty. When we checked out they couldn't even give us a receipt because their computers weren't working and they could've cared less " just leave the key on the table" never even looked up. total disappointment never staying here again. Grade: D+

This was one of the best weekends! ||I was in need of a getaway and even on a chilly day I walked along the beach in front of the hotel and strolled around town which is steps away.||This is a beautiful seaside boutique hotel. Wake up to sounds of seagulls and shore break in front of the property.||||Warm friendly staff, clean beautiful white rooms with B&W decor. My room was cozy, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was pretty with lovely aveda toiletries.||||This is a really special place! happy to have been able to get away from NYC and take in its splendor!

The most comfortable bed in Montauk. The bed in this very clean cute boutique hotel was worth every bit of the stay. How often have I been at a beautiful hotel and the bed is just ‘eh’. We could not stop raving about how well we slept because of the mattress. My only suggestion to the hotel would be to add full length mirrors. This would be relatively inexpensive and make a big difference for any stay.

Please carefully read all of the poor reviews for both the resort and beach locations as they are true. There is no one at either location that can make any cleanliness/reimbursement decisions which is a sign of poor management and something I have never experienced. For the amount of money you're paying, you should at least get basic customer service, which this company is lacking. I had previously stayed at the Sole East Resort, so when looking to stay closer to the beach we stayed here on good merit from our last experience. Upon entering the room there was a foul smelling large water stain on the rug and no hot water in the shower. We waited till the next day to go to the front desk in hopes both would sort themselves out, which they did not. The very kind woman at the front desk called someone at the Sole East Resort who said someone would come to assess both situations while we were out. No one ever did. Upon check out the next day, I brought this to the attention of a new woman at the front desk who again called someone at the resort location. They told me there was no one in Montauk who could rectify the situation and to email someone named Dave who's in Miami who would "answer in minutes." It's been 2 days since I've checked out, have placed numerous calls to the resort, and have been told over and over again I will be contacted.

This hotel boasts the worst customer service and incompetent staff in the Hamptons, if not the entire country. In attempting to find someone to assist us in the wake of a family emergency, (one full week before our reservation) the Reservations Manager, Laurie, told us it was "her job" to deny requests for credits and refunds in all circumstances. When we asked to speak to her boss, she told us that her boss is working from Italy and has instructed her not to permit guests to contact him and to deny all requests for accommodations. All of this after the person answering the initial call indicated it likely would not be a problem to find a solution. (We were willing to take a credit, not even a refund -- when the hotel still had a full week to re-book the room.). The OTA wound up giving us a 50% credit (out of its end) because the hotel refused to issue any credit or refund whatsoever. Laurie, enjoy your short career in hospitality (with apologies for using a word you obviously don't understand).

My boyfriend & I had a great stay here over memorial weekend. Located right in the centre of town & amazingly directly opposite the beach. A weekend full of relaxation, chilled vibes, beautiful sunsets and scenic walks, just what we needed. Staff were super friendly and helpful, they even left us some sanitizer in our room which was a great plus under the current circumstances. We can’t wait to go back!!
