Dining at Soleluna was an unforgettable experience, warm, welcoming, and bursting with authentic Italian charm. From the moment we stepped in, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality and quality walk so perfectly hand in hand. We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted with free bread, a thoughtful touch, and honestly, not bad at all. A simple start, but it set the tone for what was to come. To begin, we had the Carpaccio di carne, a beautifully presented appetizer of thinly sliced raw filet mignon served with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and shaved Parmigiano. The flavors were bold and rich, though for my personal taste, the dish would’ve been even better without the Parmesan. The meat was already perfectly seasoned, and while the salad on top added freshness, the cheese pushed the saltiness a little too far. Still, a lovely dish with tons of character. The grilled octopus on mashed potatoes was an absolute standout, tender, perfectly grilled, and paired with the creamiest mashed potatoes. It was both rustic and refined, and the seasoning was spot-on. Our main course, the Trofie al pesto, was exceptional. The handmade twisted pasta had the perfect bite, and the basil pesto sauce was fresh, aromatic, and deeply flavorful. You could taste the quality in every forkful, it’s a dish that makes you close your eyes just to savor the moment. To drink, we enjoyed the Lime Caipiriñha a bright, refreshing cocktail made with Cachaça, lime, sugar, and club soda. It was balanced and crisp, a perfect contrast to the richness of the meal. We finished with the pistachio chocolate gelato, which was smooth, decadent, and just the right amount of sweet. The pistachio flavor really came through and paired beautifully with the dark chocolate. Every dish (with the exception of the Parmesan-heavy carpaccio) was perfectly seasoned and flavored, showcasing the kitchen’s skill and respect for good ingredients. If you’re looking for a special night out, this place will not disappoint. We’ll definitely be back.

I can certainly appreciate the authentic Italian cuisine at this establishment as well as the atmosphere. My group felt welcomed by the outstanding staff here and we spent most of the time laughing with the staff while catching up. The pasta is top notch and make sure you ask about the specials before settling on a menu item. Thanks for a great evening.

Went for brunch/lunch. Very good service. Food is authentic. Restaurant was busy the whole time so you know it’s good, while still being able to seat walk ins.

Dinner with friends was great. This place is my friend favorite. Food is excellent, good service and good vibes. We start with a dozen of oysters. Impepata Di Cozze (muzzles) I love the sauce, so taste. Burrata is fresh. Main course we have..... - Pollo: chicken is soft and not dry. - Lamb Chop: I love this dish; lamb is no smell and cooked perfectly. - Pappardelle Ai Funghi: pasta is al dente! We share a bottle of Amarone. Good wine! I will probably come back to try more food. I'm glad my friend introduces me to a good spot.

Yelp
We're currently obssessed with this cute italian place. I can't see anything that isn't good. I freaking love the carbonara but apparently they're only serving it for brunch. Lucky for us they have the cacio e pepe which is equally as good. We added some grilled shrimp to it and the shrimp is grilled and generously seasoned which is i wasn't expecting. The tiramisu is also soooo delish!!! not so sweet which is i love it like that!! Everyone who works here are also very warm and welcoming. Tonight we had Valerio as our server. He never failed to check on us and even let us stay there for 2 hours. He didn't make us feel rushed to get out. The bartender from Sunday brunch was also very nice, I wish I remember his name. I'm happy my bestfriend move to that neighborhood, we agreed that that would be our spot traditionally from now on!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at soleluna and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I stepped inside, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance. Soft lighting, rustic decor, and the gentle hum of conversation created the perfect atmosphere for a cozy evening out. The food, however, was the true star of the night. Every dish was a celebration of authentic Italian flavors. We started with the granchio and the Polpette which were nice and fresh. For the main course, we had Gnocchi al tartufo with grilled chicken, Fagottini alla Valerio with shrimp, and Chitarra al pomodoro for the kids. We ended with panna cotta for dessert which was not too sweet and well balanced of flavor's. The service was also top-notch. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations that enhanced our experience. Whether you're looking for a romantic night out or a place to celebrate with friends, Soleluna delivers on all fronts. With its incredible food, wonderful ambiance, and exceptional service, it's a must-visit for any lover of Italian cuisine. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
Recently came with a friend and we both enjoyed it! We'd definitely come back to try more of their dishes! Solid dishes and generous portion sizes. We got the: sotto le stelle salad with chicken - fresh ingredients and generous portion size Faggotini alla valerio - nice hint of sweetness to the filling and the butter and rosemary sauce was so good! This was probably the favorite of the night. Gnocci al tartufo - smelled amazing because of course it did with the truffle oil! It was good but not as good as the faggotini and I was slightly surprised given everyone else's reviews for this dish.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The waitress was very sweet and made sure to do the candle in the cake and accommodated my food allergies. The place is small but fits a good number of people. I would definitely come back and recommend it to others

Yelp
Love SoleLuna!!! They make you feel like family here. I came for their restaurant week and ordered the mushroom pasta, beef carpaccio and the chocolate cake. I practically licked everything off my plate, but had to take the chocolate cake to go. I usually never finish pasta dishes on my own! As many others have stated, I highly recommend the mushroom pasta - great flavor, perfectly al dente, and a good portion size! Beef carpaccio with the Parmesan and lettuce tasted light and refreshing with a nice touch of protein to add to the meal. Chocolate cake I ate the next day and it was deliciously decadent. Would return!

Yelp
This is one of our favorite authentic Italian restaurants to go to. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in our backyard. The restaurant owner Valerio is very personable and the entire staff as well. He always gives us an additional dessert or drink whenever he sees us. Their pomodoro is one of my favorites! The perfect balance of sweet and salty. The garlic and basil flavor is present but not overwhelming - subtle and perfect If you come here, the pesto is a MUST. Very basil-y, not too cheesy or oily. The restaurant is dimly lit with a decent amount of seating inside. Usually don't have to make a resy unless you are coming with a larger group or weekend dinner time. The owner has also opened a few other restaurants. 1. Sotto le stelle - mainly pizza 2. Arcobaleno - gelato 3. Sotto la Luna - upscale dining Must visit.

Yelp
Just loved it! Close to LaGuardia...we were starving as we landed and this was on our way. The service was sooooo attentive. Several servers stopped by often, refilled our water often on a hot day, refilled bread, etc.. Owner even stopped by to ask how we were doing. Outdoor dining was superb. Love to watch the world go by. Two of us had the ravioli special... amazing. Our other diner had a pasta special. All good. Can't go wrong.

Yelp
This might be my new favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. Everything tasted so fresh, so authentic, so good! Arancini and the Pear pasta were both incredible! Prices are also very reasonable! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Street parking, so bring money to feed the meter. I grabbed a seat at the counter. The place was an intimate cafe. The server was a young fella. I asked, and he is from Southern Italy, but his English was good. The inpression that this was authentic Italian came with the wonderful bread. No butter, but drizzle it with olive oil and I would be happy all day long. The lasagna is an individual serving in a soup bowl. It was not steaming, but watch out, that hot cheese is hot, roght out of the onion. You know it is made to order. Delicious.

Yelp
Heard about this place from my partner, so we decided to check it out since we was gonna be in the area! Had a delicious meal that exceed my expectations! Started off with the sotto le stelle salad with fresh arugala, sun dried tomatos, and marinated artichokes. The add on chicken breast was surprisingly tender and thin so it was chewy and juicy. The fusilli al pesto was by far my favorite. The pesto was extremely herbacious and fragrant without being too oily. It was perfectly nutty and well-seasoned. The fusilli itself was al dente and swooped up all the pesto inside. Each bite made me want more! Also I very much enjoyed the funghi pappardelle! The mushrooms were very well seasoned and covered with a strong aromatic garlic/parmesan flavor. The pappardelle was also al dente. Felt like the mushroom to pasta ratio was excellent! For desserts, the tiramisu was a little sweeter than how I would have liked it. Cream was fresh but wish the espresso flavors were stronger. They had a pretty good Italian wine list. We got lambrusco for the table and the sweet bubbly profile went well with our dishes. There is a good amount of seating (although some of the tables were more length than width). The lighting was dim, creating a super cozy environment, perfect for a date, meet up, or family dinner! Staff were polite and attentive. I'm still thinking about their pasta!! 12/10 would go back!!

Yelp
New favorite neighborhood spot. The staff is so friendly, food is well portioned and so delicious. I've come during lunch and dinner hours, this spot is always packed with happy customers. They have an outdoor area as well. My usual go to's are bruschetta with burrata to start, pappardelle ai funghi for my main. Sauce is creamy and tasty, the pasta is cooked to perfection. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of their pastas. For the price and quality, this will remain my favorite restaurant in Sunnyside!
google avatar

Kann T.

Yelp
Their lasagna bolognese is amazing. Be careful it's very hot. The service was quick and timely and they are very well staffed. The place is cute with nice vibe. I'll say the table is on the smaller side but doable.

Yelp
Excellent service ! The menu is outstanding , me and my family always get a good time.

Yelp
I accidentally went here after my appointment and I fell in love. Very tasty pizza, pasta and cocktails.

Yelp
Walked in at 6:45 on a Friday and there was no wait. My boyfriend and I shared: + Polpette (meatballs) + Fagottini alla valerio (pear and ricotta ravioli) + Fusilli al pesto + Asparagus + Chocolate cake The highlight was the ravioli, but everything was great. Will be back to try more pastas!

Isa T.

Yelp
My partner and I have gone here so many times and it's always been a great experience. It's always nice when at least half of the staff there know you, and the food is 99% on-point whenever we order or dine-in. Great atmosphere. Strong sense of community. Anyone would miss out by not going here. No. Notes. It's that good!!!

Yelp
Came here on my last night on a short getaway looking for a simple meal with no fuss, no muss. Plate of pasta, a glass of wine or two and little more. The daily special was a wild boar ragout which sounded right up my alley. Then I noticed a couple of restaurant workers in a corner table on their dinner break, having the same. Yea, that's what I want then. And deliver it did, a healthy bit of sauce and meat covering what appeared to be homemade in-house noodles. A glass or Barbera followed by a Borolo, both from the Piedmonte region of Northern Italy paired nicely. Bliss. Service from one young lady was perfectly spot on, friendly, and she was in a good mood and happy to share suggestions. Good enough to talk me into a dessert wine served with a few biscotti laced with almond. Nice. A complimentary shot of lemoncello was offered and after two glasses of wine and a dessert wine probably could have gone without, but when in Rome, or right across the street from the #7 subway stop at 40th Street (easy access) you buckle up. A delightful meal, so much so I opted to walk back the 1.5 miles to my airbnb taking in the favorable weather. Appears to be a fair amount of return business, likely a neighborhood favorite, and I see why. Can happily suggest others find out what's going on here.

Michelle Z.

Yelp
I think we picked a nice day to dine here. It was drizzling outside so it felt sooo cozy being in the restaurant with the music playing and enjoying our food. It wasn't too noisy inside. The high ceiling and the color of the interior made it feel so warm on a rainy day. We ordered the carrot ginger soup, it was good except I love ginger so a bit more ginger would have really made the soup perfect for me. We ordered the meatballs which were okay but I've definitely had better. The mushroom pasta is delicious, highly recommended. We also ordered the lemon butter chicken which was also delicious and recommended as well! Our servers were attentive, checked up on us multiple times. Will be coming back!!
google avatar

Jebreh B.

Yelp
Solid choice for Italian in Sunnyside. Small room, but plenty of outside seats. Ask them to turn down the music outside if you need . The food is consistently good. Servers are very attentive.

Nesha S.

Yelp
I found this restaurant randomly and I'm so happy that I did. The food was delicious!!! I would definitely come back to try other dishes. The ambience is nice, and the service is great. The waiters and waitresses were helpful and generous with the complimentary bread. I would highly recommend the white sangria glass, very refreshing but gives you a nice buzz. You won't disappointed. Try this cute, authentic place.
google avatar

Ivonne H.

Yelp
Food wasn't that great and the pasta with the clam sauce dish was very salty, lack of service attention with the waiters, they were too busy chatting with each other
google avatar

Yelp
WOW, what an awesome meal we had at SoleLuna, a hidden gem in Sunnyside, NY. We got the fagottini alla valerio, which is fresh pasta purses stuffed with pear and cheese in a butter & rosemary sauce - it was AMAZING! We also got one of our standbys, spaghetti alle vongole, and it totally lived up to our expectations. The waitstaff is friendly and accommodating and the prices are very reasonable - highly recommend!
google avatar

Alan G.

Yelp
We've been coming to this small but amazing restaurant for a number of years and always leave super pleased having had an enjoyable and tasty Italian experience. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Great ambience makes you feel at home and comfortable. Very cozy. Probably one of our favorite restaurant's in our travels on the East Coast. Highly recommended you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
New favorite restaurant I can't believe I live half a block up and I've never been to this place. Went here for my birthday With my husband, and we absolutely loved it. We started off with fried calamari and a cheese artichoke olive platter. This mix was so good you can't even imagine! My husband got gnocchi And I got the seafood mix pasta. Staff is very attentive. Definitely will be coming back once a month.

Yelp
This quaint, modern, small business is a neighborhood gem. Part cafe/ part coffee shop/ part restaurant there is always something to eat no matter the time of day. Delicious coffee, cappuccinos she lattes available all day for sit down or takeout in your way to the train. Their breakfast foods are flavorful and plentiful. The omelette is light and fluffy and you can customize with your choice of toppings. The potatoes are also unexpectedly delicious. The lunch menu is small but everything is delicious. Pasta servings are smaller than American standard but quality ingredients and will still leave you full. Other stand outs are the burger(!), the burrata special and the sandwiches on home made bread. Dinner specials vary by day. All are authentically prepared with the finest ingredients.

Jeremy R.

Yelp
First timers to the restaurant. Our son lives nearby. We all enjoyed our visit. The menu was simple, and the concentration they paid to our meals was phenomenal! We had the bruschetta - excellent! I had the Duck with Pasta (housemade) special, which was just great! My son had the Veal Milanese, perfect! My wife had their Lemon Chicken, superb! Caramel Mousse was divinely made not-so-sweet, perfect! Excellent food! Excellent attentiveness! You must try!
google avatar

Steve T.

Yelp
I discovered this place about a few years ago at the Sunnyside Crawl. Valerio, the owner, was outside giving away samples of something called cacio y pepe. I tried it and loved it and told him that I would be back. Well....after at least 20 trips to this restaurant, I can still say that this is one of my favorite restaurants! The décor and background music are great. You'll get a mixture of hits, including songs from the 50's and 60's. It has a very casual and friendly feel. Where this place truly shines...is the customer service! The staff is extremely friendly which gives this restaurant a familial atmosphere. (Have to mention the staff again lol) The staff is amazing which is part of the reason my 9 year old son loves it there as well! Oh and obviously, the food is phenomenal. My favorite dish is cacio y pepe which is only available on Wednesdays. It is a pasta dish made of grated Pecorino Romano cheese and black pepper, together with spaghetti dished out of a huge Pecorino cheese wheel. Food - 5 Service - 5 Decor - 4 Cost - ~30.00
google avatar

Lola P.

Yelp
The service was superb and the people were attentive and kind. The food was real Italian vibes. The music was like a hip club but not overwhelming. My fave part was the sprayable balsamic for my oil and bread!!! If you're ever in the area for lunch/dinner. GO HERE.

Yelp
The food was amazing!! The staff was great. The sangria was awesome. The cheese board was to die for. Very friendly and low key spot.

Yelp
I haven't been this impressed with a restaurant in a very long time. If you're looking for a small, cozy restaurant with incredible food and an amazing staff then this is your place. I've been here twice in three weeks. The first time I was with 4 girlfriends having our monthly dinner. The food was unbelievable. We shared the bruschetta and the fried calamari. Perfection. For my meal I had the pear and ricotta ravioli in a butter rosemary sauce. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The pasta was so light and fresh and the butter sage sauce was on point. We shared a bunch of desserts and all were fantastic. On my most recent visit we came on a Wednesday for their special, cacio e pepe in a cheese wheel. Oh. My. Lord. I've never had a more perfect pasta dish in my life. The ravioli was great but this was just out of this world. The pasta was homemade and cooked to perfection and the cheese sauce was sent from heaven. They prepare it table side and then pour on the black pepper. I was concerned by the amount but I don't know why I doubted the man. He knew what he was doing and it was amazing. The wait staff was again on top of everything and insanely friendly. The one waitress actually remembered us from our first visit. When you drive by, Soleluna looks small and unassuming but trust me, you will never regret going in for a meal. I can not wait to go back again.

Alisha V.

Yelp
The lasagna was amazingly cooked. The waiting staff were very polite and the food came out pretty quickly.
google avatar

Singh N.

Yelp
Good food, great service, and most importantly, dessert was on the house ! Recommended for family with children!
google avatar

Debbie O.

Yelp
Attentive friendly service in this small corner spot. The menus is limited but the pasta is home made and delicious. The salads are simple but also super fresh. Desserts.....pistachio cheesecake! Who knew??
google avatar

Yelp
First stopped in for sunnyside restaraunt week, but came back again because it was just too good. The arincini flavor changes from day to day, ours was a cacio e pipe flavor. This was amazing, it was like an extremely high quality fried ball of cheese and rice. Definitely our favorite of the appetizers. The faggotini here is phenomenal. I am not too much of a fan of meatless pasta dishes; however, I make exception for this one. The butternut squash sauce is super buttery and sweet with some nice aroma coming from the rosemary while the pasta itself has a delicious filling. Haven't ordered a cocktail I even remotely dislike yet. Our favorite was Strawberry caipirioska, very fresh and very tasty. This place is now in our regular rotation of restaraunts, way to go sunnyside for having this wonderful gem!
google avatar

Kristina V.

Yelp
The excellent knowledge of wine provided by Asia was absolutely great! The service by Asia and Alejandra was impeccable. Very pleasant atmosphere/ amazing hospitality I was not so much crazy about mushroom pappardelle but I believe it's up to personal preferences . I gonna stick with lasagna in that establishment which is up to taste :)
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
If you are in the area, this neighborhood gem has also expanded into the bar space next door. This is my first time here since 2 years ago. It was such a beautiful sunny day that we sat outside and since we were on the side street there My friend raves about the cappuccino here. It's one of the few places where the cappuccino is made correctly, not burnt or too sweet. He leisurely drinks 2 cups. I got an unsweetened ice tea unfortunately no lemonade here so I couldn't mix the drinks. The pappardella (+chicken which is an additional cost, I believe) dish is delicious. Don't forget to make a stop here.
google avatar

Meghna S.

Yelp
It's a nice restaurant nestled in a corner of a street in Sunnyside. It was almost close to full capacity on a warm summer Friday evening From what I can gauge this is really popular with the locals here. We were instantly offered a table even though we walked in and our server was also very warm and friendly. We started with a glass of rose each and loved it enough for a repeat. Burrata was excellent; fresh, almost silky texture and it literally melted in the mouth. One of the good burratas I have eaten in a long time for sure. What really disappointed me was one of their best sellers; pappardelle ai funghi. I ordered it with shrimps as it was highly recommended by the server and my friend as well. However to my disappointment the pasta was really thick in texture and taste was dominating the dish, which made it difficult to taste the white sauce with it. The mushrooms didn't look great either, the three pieces of shrimps in it didn't help either (yes I did count that) What started as a great experience plateaued eventually. Nonetheless I wouldn't write off this restaurant completely. Sometimes you can't arrive at a conclusion based on a single dish gone wrong. The place is well priced as per Newyork standards and they did seem to care about delivering good customer service as well.

Yelp
My coworker recommended this restaurant to me since I love Italian food. I came here with my family to celebrate my sister's new job. When you first enter the spot, it doesn't have it's usual look of an Italian restaurant, it is very rustic and has a cafe kind of feel. I thought it was pretty cool and different. Our serve was very friendly, although it took her q while to come over to us to take our order. We ordered their fried calamari and mussels in wine sauce. Their mussels were very delicious in the white wine. The calamari were perfectly cooked, the only thing lacking was the mariners sauce. It was a bit bland and watery. As the main dish, I ordered a ink fettuccine which had black noodles, pieces of fish and mussels. It was quite but I am a person that likes sauce so I thought it lacked some sauce. My father had the lasagna and I tried it and thought it was delicious. The spaghetti with clams also lacked some flavor. The sangria was average, nothing special. The bus boy was very attentive and very friendly. If you want Italian food that is light and not too saucy, this is a good place.

Yelp
Solid Italian spot right off the train in Sunnyside. It was V's birthday so we celebrated by getting some fresh pasta. We ordered the burrata which was nice and creamy with arugula and cherry tomatoes. The dressing was light, but I almost wanted aged balsamic with it. V got the lasagna which was hearty and heated in its own ramekin. The cheesy top protected layers and layers of pasta sauce and pasta. I got the cacio e pepe, which is not my usual choice but Soleluna has fresh Spaghetti on Wednesdays and they prep the plate table side inside of a whole cheese wheel. I mean if you like a cheesy cream sauce, which I know you do, this was the plate to get. It was finished with a hefty amount of black pepper. Next time I would add chicken and maybe swap the burrata for the steak salad. Protein gains. Everything was topped with a bottle of sangiovese which matured as the night went on. Again a great local spot. They even gave a shot of fragrant lemoncello at the end of the night (not my favorite but it was free).

Yelp
I got tired of eating at places in my local neighborhood so I decided to venture out to Sunnyside and try some place new. I was absolutely blown away by how delicious the food was here. The owner is Italian and was born and raised in Millan. The staff was super welcoming and was able to make some great recommendations from the menu. I ordered the ricotta and pear ravioli which was in a butter sauce. This dish was absolutely delicious and was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. My fiancé decided to be a little adventurous and try the duck pasta which was out of this world. I highly recommend both of these pastas they were fresh, tasted homemade, and left our belly's feeling full and satisfied. I can't wait to go back and try more of their items on the menu

Yelp
SoleLuna although a relatively small place packs a big punch with a small menu. The staff were extremely attentive and continually checked to make sure your experience was as good as can possibly be while in SoleLuna. This was my first time there having dinner with a friend of mine and the fish I had put me to bed, that was all my day needed. I had the Parmesan Truffle Gnocchi, it was rich, creamy, cheesy, and the truffle did not over power the dish it was the perfect amount of truffle. With there fresh bread along side making a perfect mopping up tool for the beautiful sauce that covered the tender gnocchi. I can't wait for my next visit to SoleLuna to try some of there amazing pasta dishes.

Always outstanding food and service. One of my favorites. I've literally never had a bad meal here - even when I get delivery.
