Chicago Restaurant and Bar Openings to Know, July 2025 | Eater Chicago

"There’s a new all-day spot in the Loop for Downtown workers to grab a bite. Solette offers an eclectic selection of sandwiches, salads, sushi, steaks, and dishes like Nashville hot chicken and rigatoni Bolognese, a morning coffee bar with pastries from Lost Larson, and happy hour specials from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; it’s closed on weekends." - Jeffy Mai

Pretty impressed with this new loop spot! Creative cocktails named after chicago CTA train lines, get the Orange Line. The tuna poke bowl surprised me. Gorgeous gorgeous patio, service with a smile. Best fries! @chicagopescetarian

A Welcoming Oasis for Tired Travelers in Chicago After a long day of travel, tired and hungry on my way to a Chicago hotel, I stumbled upon this fantastic spot at the corner of Randolph and Franklin Streets. The lively atmosphere was visible from the sidewalk: a bustling bar surrounded by happy patrons chatting over craft beers and cocktails, with comfortable seating throughout the dining area. My partner and I were greeted by a friendly waitress who provided excellent service. She was enthusiastic about our menu choices—a crispy chicken sandwich and a shrimp crunch roll. Before our meal, our server recommended cocktails: an 'Old Fashioned' for me and a 'Spicy Margarita' for my partner. Both were expertly made. The food surpassed all expectations. Though the dishes may sound simple, the execution was exceptional. The flavors were complex and delicious, clearly prepared by a skilled kitchen team. The highlight of the evening was a visit from the manager, who engaged us in a wonderful conversation about our travels and even cocktail recipes. It was a personal touch that made us feel right at home. I will not hesitate to return to Chicago on my next trip and will highly recommend it to all my traveling friends. Tip: Try sweet potato chips for a change.

Had a business lunch at Solette last week and I'm so glad we chose this place! It's in a perfect spot right downtown near the river, super easy to get to. The vibe was awesome – relaxed + welcoming, and they have a really diverse menu, so everyone in our group found something they were excited about. But seriously, you HAVE to try the hot chicken and pickles appetizer. It was so good that we ordered another round – definitely the highlight of our meal! All in all, Solette is a winner for dining downtown. Already planning our next visit!

LOVE this place! Gorgeous atmosphere, upscale vibes, great drinks. Highly recommend bartender Ashly - she makes a mean espresso martini and was also able to cater to my fairly particular taste buds and whip me up some delicious custom-made cocktails on the spot. She's also super friendly and kind! We met outside the restaurant when I was looking for my car because my Bluetooth had messed up, and she generously took time out of her schedule to help me look for my car lol. This is a great place to go either alone or with friends if you want to chill after work, celebrate an occasion or accomplishment, or just grab a bite or drink in a place that is both relaxing and sophisticated.

The food here is good, but needs to be better executed. Fries were not crispy, but they were hot, meaning they were just not cooked long enough. They were extremely greasy, both in the truffle fry appetizer as well as the ones that came with the burger which were neither hot nor crispy. The cheddar smash burger is just fine. The patty was not seasoned at all. I tried it individually without condiments and also wanted to note wasn't cooked properly to have a hard sear, like a smashburger is supposed to. The bottom bun was soggy. The amount of oil both in the fries, greasy hamburger, and they even include some sort of oil on the guacamole appetizer. I needed to wash my hands several times after eating just to get the grease off. The bar looks great, and I will come back and try some new items on the menu as well as some of their cocktails. The place is VERY loud. When you're sitting in a one-sided booth you certainly cannot hear the people across the table. Need to add some acoustical panels to absorb the sounds. They even went as far as to turn on music, which made conversation with anyone besides the person right next to you very dificult. It seems this is a newer place and I look forward to it maturing and revisiting.

Great happy hour with friends. Super sweet waitress and good recommendations. I don’t remember for sure but I think her name was Lydia and she was such a cute pregnant lady. Good cocktails and tasty bites. We will be back. Seems new and low key

Google
Solette has some work to do. The space is extremely loud and it’s hard to have a conversation with your table. The service was pretty slow so it won’t be a quick lunch if that’s what you’re going in for. The food was fine. I’ve had great experiences with the bartenders and baristas. If I were just rating them, I’d give them a 5/5.

We had a show near by and needed quick service. The food and staff were great and we made it to our show with plenty of time.

Yelp
In for a business lunch this week with a group of seven. While they were out of syrup to make mocktails, they managed to custom make one instead that was delicious! We had the calamari, truffle fries, and guacamole to start - all were very tasty and the fries were perfectly crisp. As mains, the table had a mix of pasta, salads and sushi or bowls. The tuna poke I had was delicious and the Mediterranean bowl looked good too. It is really loud inside between the music and the acoustics from everyone there talking, so you won't hear everyone at a large table. Other than that, it was a great meal and service was excellent.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner here last night. I had just arrived into the city, and my daughter selected Solette, as she hadn't visited it yet. We began with a bottle of rose wine, then ordered entrees. My daughter chose the tuna poke bowl, while I chose the tomato/feta salad with grilled salmon added. Both entrees were delicious! I would definitely eat here again & even choose the same dish. It was that good! Service was great, and we had such a nice time!

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Monday at 11:30 am . They are still new and soft opening. Beautiful restaurant and patio great vibe Have a good variety of options on the menu and good pricing Food took a little longer so they offered us a drink or dessert we took them up on a dessert to go Food was very good the burger was great big, steak was cooked and seasoned perfect on the bowl

Yelp
Loud, loud, loud! Ok, now that's over, the food and service were very good. But not enough to offset the noise. There are no soft surfaces. I get that it can be trendy, but this is too much, at least for my preference...

Yelp
This place seems to cater to the weekday lunch and after work dinner crowd. They have a super varied menu, so I can't imagine anyone would have a hard time finding something they like. We went in a Friday night and it wasn't very busy, but it is new. Modern and clean, but in the first floor of an office building. We got a margarita and a "Godfather" which were both on point. Got tuna tare tare which was a fun twist on Mexican guac and chips with tuna over guac (the "chips" were sort of puffed rice chips, which were perfect). We also got the truffle fries, which were perfection. Both apps were $16. We got a salmon roll (sushi) and a Mediterranean bowl. Sushi roll was fairly small. Mediterranean bowl was good but a little spicy sauce heavy. Both were $17. Service was decent. Multiple staff checked in during our time there. Easy place to eat if you are taking Metra in for a show. On the way to the theater district. Liked the outdoor seating.

Yelp
Lights way too bright! Like a cafeteria!! Look into places like Bavettes! You have to stand in line if you have a table. And pay standing up after at bar. Staff rude! No eye contact or smiles to let you know you are waiting for drink. Never go back!!

Yelp
They finally opened after a couple months before we first saw this. I had a Matcha Latte. It was very good. Tony M., Katie and staff had excellent service!
