I visited this place twice, the first time was a good experience, the second time was just ok.
I'm giving it a 4 stars because the flavor of the strawberry matcha and sea salt sycamore was pretty good.
So, where I'm knocking down points comes down to a few things.
Service was ok. You can clearly tell they are understaffed and the guy who took my order (who was there on my second visit), didn't seem that warm or welcoming. I asked what the sea salt sycamore was, and he gave a really brief response that didn't seem all too enthusiastic. Maybe that's how he is or he's tired, but I just didn't think he was all that friendly and inviting. There was also no one behind us so he could've taken time to go over the menu since we're clearly first timers. However, I did let it go because of how fast our drinks came out and how they tasted. I'm a matcha girlie and I enjoyed the strawberry matcha, which had a decent matcha and subtle strawberry flavor. I also liked that the drink wasn't too sweet.
So, the second time I went is where I knocked down the points. I had made an online order for 4 drinks, and ended up having to wait for almost 40 mins for it and it would've been longer if I hadn't gotten up to inquire about it. I had already been in the store and waiting a good amount of time. At the time, the same guy who took my order the first time I went there was training someone. A couple ladies with kids who came into the store after me had their orders taken and their drinks were made quickly, and I had wondered about my order since clearly, I had made the order way in advance. When I went up to the guy, he looked over at his other tablet for online orders and finally noticed my order had been sitting there. He appeared very nonchalant about not seeing it. He did apologize and I didn't make a fuss, but it just didn't sit right with me with how he didn't seem to be concerned about it (at least that's what it felt to me). He was likely distracted training the girl and completely forgot about the online orders. And when I got my order, the sea salt sycamore tasted the same as before, very good with a strong coffee flavor, but the banana latte was disappointing. It barely had any banana flavor as opposed to other places like Phin Smith.
Overall, I think the service here could be a little better and so I hope with more staff, small but important details don't get overlooked. I actually would like to see this place grow as I support local businesses over places like Starbucks or Coffee Bean. Despite some of the mishaps, the vibe and location of this place is good. Plenty of parking and the place has a chill ambiance. I'd probably come back again just to check out the food, but hopefully the things I had issues with improve by then.
