"Located right off Brigham Circle, Solid Ground Cafe is the perfect pit stop on the way to campus. Service is fast, and the cafe frequently displays postcards, stickers, and paintings from local artists to admire while you wait. Patrons can choose from a variety of beverage and breakfast sandwich options, but the cafe’s unique array of pastries — including glazed London Fog scones and honey butter biscuits served with a spoonful of strawberry jam — are the real star of the show." - Maya Homan

Google
By far the best cafe on mission hill. Their bagel sandwiches are honestly some of the best i’ve ever had. Their coffee is incredible, they have a great selection of drinks and their black coffee/espresso is never bitter or sour. Their service isn’t the fastest, it’s a pretty small establishment, but the food and coffee definitely make this place worth the wait.

Google
The coffee is solid enough, but what keeps me coming back are the sandwiches. Delicious breakfast sandos and a handful of yummy lunch options, plus baked-in-house sweet treats to close the meal! Highly recommend this spot

Google
Had the black sesame latte with oat milk and the Irish creme latte, and it was nothing short of divine. Love the vibe of the cafe and the friendly staff. Great spot to just take your friend out for that morning coffee.

Google
Great really creative coffees and teas. Highly recommend the pastries too. Filipina owned! The only downside is the space is a little small, so a great spot to grab a coffee and quick bite (they have breakfast sandwiches too!) and then walk around.

Google
5/5 for the drinks, 4/5 for the sandwiches. We got the blueberry matcha latte and ube coconut cold brew for drinks and both were great! Coffee quality was good and we liked the subtle ube taste. Wish there was a little more ube though. Matcha quality was also pretty good (we got unsweetened). The blueberry syrup tasted artificial but added a bit of sweetness and a unique kick to the matcha. The sandwiches weren’t bad, but we felt like a lot could’ve been done to make it better. For example, the Italian sandwich we got could’ve used more veggies and the bread could’ve been more toasted. The tomato sandwich was just waaaay too greasy the sourdough was practically drenched in oil. The flavors were all good but just could’ve been made better and there wasn’t anything too special about them. Definitely come check this place out for the drinks though! Note: they don’t have indoor seating but the ambiance inside is so cute!

Google
One of the best coffee shops in Brigham Circle! Excellent coffee with lots of seasonal flavorings for you to try out something new every once in awhile. During the pandemic they had lovely "weekly share" where they'd bundle up cold brew coffee bagels, meats, etc. so that you could enjoy great breakfast food at home during a difficult time. Their cold brew mix was so good that I sometimes didn't even bother diluting it :P I'll always try and swing by whenever I come by the area.

Google
the egg sandwiches and iced mocha latte are simply amazing- my only qualm is that when you order the sourdough bread option the egg didn’t cover the bread all the way, but that’s a pretty minor complaint given the quality of the food and the price, I highly recommend!

Google
Tasty food, dessert and special coffee Happy, positive employees Close to Brigham and Womens Hospital. Will come always

Yelp
I stayed near Solid Ground for a month while on rotation at one of the nearby hospitals, and this little cozy coffee shop was a potent source of happiness during tough times. No complaints about the iced coffee, DIY egg sandwich was delicious (the tomato jam!!), strawberries & cream macchiato latte was very sweet but pretty good, earl grey scone was large and a good sweet treat, and the mini bibingka was delicious - perfumed with coconut, fluffy, and not too sweet! There is not too much seating but the vibes are very cute and I saw some people working on their laptops. I like the local art sold on the walls, as well as the "pay it forward" system. There comes a time in life where you realize all you need is a neighborhood hipster coffee shop to be happy, and Solid Ground was mine for my month in Boston.

Yelp
If you're in the area and need a quick bite for breakfast, this is your place! Solid Ground is a sweet coffee shop that features local artists on its walls and little plants on the windows. This place is rather small so I usually take my food and drinks to go, but I do think it makes the place feel cozy. The service is usually pretty fast. I'm not much of a coffee person, but their broad range of drinks keeps me coming back. I love their breakfast bagels as well, they are customizable to your liking. Today I had an iced chai, which had the perfect amount of spice and was a great coffee alternative for me. Ive had a few iced chais around boston and this was probably the best one thus far. The breakfast bagel was filling and just what I needed to get my day started. I will say they could have added a little more bacon and I did find a random piece of jalapeño pepper (?!) when I was finishing up my sandwich, so they could be a bit more careful with the ingredients. Overall, this place is great and I recommend it for anyone looking for some food and to support a local business here in mission hill.

Yelp
The food and prices is amazing and they open early so we can always go before work! I think there is only two people working so you might have to wait a little... the other thing is tables are small so kinda hard to go with your friends But again worth it

Elaine C.

Yelp
Been here multiple times because the food is solid and drinks are on point! Great local business and ai love their business model of helping others with food. Will keep coming back for sure!

Kim P.

Yelp
Still amazing! Highly recommend all of the brekkie sandwiches and depending on the time you can sit and stay awhile. Just found about the tomato jam! Add it to your egg sandwich. It's delicious.

Yelp
A super cute cafe right in the heart of Mission Hill. They have all the standard coffee, tea, and espresso beverages, with some really fun options for flavors. Nondairy options too (oat, soy, or almond milk). They have delicious looking bagel and egg sandwiches, as well as quite an assortment of normal sandwiches. Definitely a place to check out for breakfast, brunch, and lunch! I ordered an ice cream roll latte with almond milk and it is delicious!! I also appreciated that the barista came and delivered it with a smile. Definitely made for a great experience. I will be stopping by between classes and meetings more often. Close by to the Harvard School of Public Health and the Longwood Medical Area. It's a small little cafe, with only 3 little tables inside so it's mostly an order and go situation, which is what the majority of people seem to do. Definitely a convenient option. Bonus: they have stamp cards. We love a good loyalty incentive!

Amanda V.

Yelp
Stopped by here for breakfast. Husband and I got build your own egg sandwiches. While the option to customize your breakfast was good, the avocado spread didn't taste so fresh and the bread the sandwich was on seemed just like sliced bread out of a plastic bag. I also had wish the menu had explicitly stated eggs would be poached. Coffee was smooth, and decaf lattes were possible thankfully. Ambiance was fun; I enjoyed seeing the local artists' work while I waited. I also appreciated the energizing music. Would not be opposed to coming back, but would not order the same thing again.

Yelp
I have been meaning to visit this cafe as I work in the area and finally got to do so recently. For my afternoon snack, I decided to get their special hot coconut pandan latte macchiato and London fog scone. The latte macchiato was nice, and you can taste the pandan syrup in the drink. I wish the coconut cream was more prominent in the drink. The coffee is not too strong, but it is alright overall. The London fog scone was pretty good. I really enjoyed how prominent the tea flavor was throughout the scone. It was decently sized. The vanilla glaze was light and added a nice touch to the pastry. I would love to come back and try their other sandwiches. I am looking forward to trying out their other drink specials.

Marisa T.

Yelp
Good coffee and food, and great service. This place is just so small it felt cramped as several people were waiting for their order.

Julia M.

Yelp
Solid Ground was right around the corner from our AirBnB in Mission Hill, and I took FULL advantage. I stopped by almost every morning we were visiting for a coffee and morning snack. I ordered a latte each morning and tried different flavors - loved all of them! Everything was flavored well and not overpoweringly sweet. The baked goods were also great... I tried (loved) a blueberry muffin, and a rosemary parmesan scone that was SO good. They're both great sweet/savory breakfast options, depending on what you're in the mood for. The shop itself is small, quiet, and relaxing. Service was great and very friendly.

Quan A.

Yelp
My coworkers and I ordered cold coffee and sandwiches from this establishment yesterday & let me say this both the coffee and all of the sandwiches were wonderful fresh and we will definitely be ordering from here more often, we will be ordering again today.

Marissa E.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop near Brigham and Women's Hospital. There Fall Spice Latte has won my heart - its my Friday reward beverage! There food looks and smells delicious - they do custom breakfast sandwiches as well as some pastries, but I have yet to allow myself to endulge.

Ellie B.

Yelp
Cute little cafe right by the mission hill stop and shop! They have quite the selection of toppings for sandwiches,I got an egg and cheese on an everything bagel with tomato jam and sprouts. The tomato jam was SO delicious and you can see them fry the eggs fresh for each sandwich. I would recommend ordering online, there was a little wait and not much seating inside. I also got a vanilla latte, but they have some unique seasonal lattes that i'm looking forward to trying!

Shirley H.

Yelp
This coffee shop is the real deal... the soul of the neighborhood! Amazing coffee, great staff, delicious baked goods. The honey butter biscuit with strawberry jam is the best snack on the hill.

Rosa Y.

Yelp
The mochas here are so good that my partner, who was not a coffee drinker, was converted. Thank you Solid Ground for your contributions to this crucial shift. The staff are friendly and welcoming- in the times I've brought our pup with me, they've shown him immense love and patience which I always appreciate. I haven't yet tried much of the food but the pastries have all been solid. The scones in particular are fit for several servings! People also seem to be a fan of the breakfast sandwiches, a reminder for myself to give those a try!

Isabella R.

Yelp
The mini bibinkas always make my day!! Yummy drinks and an awesome seasonal menu to choose from.

Ailun H.

Yelp
This cafe was the only one that had breakfast options + coffee that looked tasty near our Airbnb in Mission Hill, so we ended up coming here twice! I really loved what I got on my first day (BYO egg sandwich + light roast cold brew) but the ube coconut cold brew was a complete miss for me. Overall, I'd highly recommend giving this cafe a try if you're in the area. BUILD YOUR OWN EGG SANDWICH - 3.85 The starting price is $3.85 (which is cheap, imo, especially for Boston standards) but the amount could add up depending on the customization. You can choose from a variety of bread here, which I really appreciated. There are various bagels you can pick from, sourdoughs (white and wheat), english muffin, brioche roll, a gluten free option, and even more! Most protein options are an up charge of $2.50, but the smoked salmon for $3.50 extra was definitely worth it for me. You can also pay more for toppings and spreads (there are lots like various cheeses, cream cheese options, avocado spread, and jams) or you can stick to the complimentary options like sprouts, lettuce, and tomatoes. The barista who took my order recommended the sourdough and this whole sandwich was the size of what I'd normally eat for lunch. There was a good amount of smoked salmon, egg, and greens in my sandwich which made the sandwich extra tasty. The sourdough was fresh and perfect. For $7.35, this was a huge sandwich and one that I could have for two breakfasts. Definitely worth it - give it a try for sure. COLD BREW - 4.50 Unsure of the pricing, but for the 16 oz, it's around there. I really like that they had two different cold brews here - a light and dark roast. I chose the light roast and it was fruity and frothy and perfect for the morning. It went well with the egg sandwich I ordered. I'd highly recommend it. UBE COCONUT COLD BREW - 5.50 Also unsure about the pricing, but I got the 16 oz here. I was unable to finish this drink because the cold brew was so sour. I did ask for less ube flavored condensed milk & coconut cream but was surprised to find the drink to be so sour. The sweeteners also didn't mix well with the cold brew, so some sips had some refreshing ube and coconut flavors, but most was just sour coffee to me. Not a fan and wouldn't order this again. Overall, this was a great cafe to go to and of course, there will be misses. If I lived in this area, I could see a lot of my salary flowing towards Solid Ground Cafe because of their delicious sandwiches and coffee options.

Jessica H.

Yelp
I've order from this place many times but this is the first time I can say my sandwich *green eggs &ham has disappointed me! The bread for sure not the same is like they slapped everything however, wrapped however and threw it in the bag that it made the sandwich soggy and let me not start on my sons ham egg and cheese smashed croissant another waste. For $40 in 3 sandwich I was pretty furious this morning! Could even finish eating because my stomach hurt so much after a few bites.

Nicole B.

Yelp
We walked here for bfast this rainy Sunday AM and all of the staff was very sweet and personable. Ordered my own egg sandwich and fangirled over the delicious pastries behind the counter. They have a pay it forward feature that I thought was really sweet and great for the community! There's a few seating area with some plants making it an enjoyable area to sit as it is order at the counter.

Trisha D.

Yelp
Nice little coffee spot. Lots of options and the baked goods hit the spot. For the scone and bibingka the pricing/size seems on point. They aren't overcharging and giving a huge scone that's hard to finish for one person. Good for a quick bite. Iced tea Jasmine Calamansi: good Calamansi flavor. Not very sweet as iced teas usually are. But if you are getting something sweet the drink can start tasting bitter. Suggest getting something savory with this. Mini Bibingka: light spongy cake with coconut sprinkled on top. Very lightly sweetened so good to have with coffee. London fog (Earl grey) scone: on a sweeter note (but not overly so, appropriate for an iced scone), but very nice earl grey flavor. Best thing that I've tried here. Get it if you like earl grey but don't if you aren't a fan of icing or sweet things. Service and ambience: friendly enough. Cute inside with one bench to sit and wait at. No options to dine inside so not a great option to work/study. *edit* seems like they changed the setup probably for COVID? The earlier pics of this cafe looks very cute and inviting. Suggestion: the menu can get overwhelming - there are multiple menus (for drinks, baked goods, sandwiches), some are on a chalkboard, some are on paper...would be nice to have a better/bigger menu propped up on one of the walls. And also to have some tables maybe outside (not sure if this location is ideal for sitting out though) COVID precaution: everyone wearing masks and required inside. A plastic barrier between cashier and customer. Did not notice a sanitizer. Waiting area is small so can get crowded.

Gaby R.

Yelp
Delicious cafe! Great service and a super cute spot. The food comes out quickly and the special items are always so yummy

Joyce K.

Yelp
A bright, hidden gem of a cafe in Brigham circle. Would recommend for a to-go breakfast, lunch, or snack. They have a great selection of drinks, pastries, and sandwiches! I especially love their london fog tea latte and their chipotle chicken melt sandwich (very satisfying). There isn't much of any room to sit down and eat inside the cafe, but if it's a nice day there are some benches in front of the Brigham and Women's hospital nearby. Protip: order ahead online to beat the lunch rush!

Arielle D.

Yelp
Still so so good! I love Solid Ground Cafe so much and usually order the Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a plain bagel. I look forward to eating here any morning I get the chance!

Nhi N.

Yelp
So so good. Their seasonal blueberry cobbler latte was delicious. I love when cafes use natural flavors in their drinks rather than artificial syrups. The coffee was also really smooth. The sandwich was flavorful as well! The service was great and I love that they have a pay it forward system to help people who are hungry. A really lovely cafe. The only downside is a lack of seating, so not the best place to hangout or work.

Julia M.

Yelp
My egg sandwich was incredible! One of the best I've had in Boston. Blueberry muffin was also great. The staff was very kind. I'll definitely be coming back!

Henry Y.

Yelp
Came here on graduation day and ordered 9 different drinks and they turned it around in no time. Would definitely come back. Friendly service and very central to campus.

Emma H.

Yelp
Been here quite a few times while living in Mission Hill. It's really the only local coffee shop around. Their bagels are amazing definitely recommend. Their muffins are also good if you can get one in time. They always have fun seasonal latte flavors, though I think their food is better than the coffee. The only cons are that there isnt really any seating, you have to grab and go. It can also get really busy and it's a small place so the wait can be long. Highly recommend ordering online. I also love the fact that they offer a "pass it on" menu, where you can buy a breakfast sandwich or beverage for someone in need.

Ecmie L.

Yelp
5/5 for the drinks, 4/5 for the sandwiches. We got the blueberry matcha latte and ube coconut cold brew for drinks and both were great! Coffee quality was good and we liked the subtle ube taste. Wish there was a little more ube though. Matcha quality was also pretty good (we got unsweetened). The blueberry syrup tasted artificial but added a bit of sweetness and a unique kick to the matcha. Yelp
I've been here twice and both times I've had the greatest experience with the staff. Everyone is so sweet and fun to talk to. The cafe itself is very small but super cozy. In terms of what I've tried there so far: - Iced Coconut Pandan Latte 3.5/5 (wanted more pandan flavor) - Strawberry Matcha Latte 4/5 - London fog Scone 4/5

Victoria W.

Yelp
Lovely little cafe with limited cozy seating. Great service, delicious egg breakfast sandwiches (I appreciated the gluten-free option!). We will return!

Angie P.

Yelp
I'm in here every week getting my fave chai latte! Yum! Loyal customer for sure. Also love that they have a 'pay it forward' system that give back to those who need it

Shawn P.

Yelp
So slow, I've never been at a place that takes over 45 minutes to make a coffee and a bagel. Please hire new staff, the current ones are inept.

Alana K.

Yelp
Solid Ground is right around the corner from me, so I come here occasionally. I've tried a few different beverages from here, but have never ordered their pastries or food. They have great hot coffee and iced coffee; the flavor is good, strong, and not too acidic or bitter. They also always have really fun seasonal drinks. I tried their blueberry matcha latte (July 2021) and their chocolate, cherry, and almond macchiato (February 2021), and both were great. Props to Solid Ground for coming up with exciting flavor combos. However, I don't love their espresso. I ordered a cortado from here and thought it was too bitter, and didn't think the milk was steamed well, either. The specialty drinks are almost a safer bet, since there's so much going on that the added flavors really steal the show. The staff are always friendly and helpful when making recommendations about what to order. For people who work in a cramped, busy café, they always have a positive attitude when talking with customers. Be prepared to take your food to go, since there is no indoor or outdoor seating.

Sam E.

Yelp
Friendly people, aesthetically pleasing cafe, and delicious coffee. The Mission Hill/Longwood area is frequented by many students and young professionals. It's a great hangout/meeting spot, especially for smaller groups. Stopped by around 2pm on a weekend for the monthly special which happened to be a ginger latte. It was exactly what I needed in the wintry months. It happened to be at the turn of the month so they still had the leftover special from the month prior: vanilla bourbon latte. I'm looking forward to next month's flavor of the month. Unfortunately, most of the pastries and cookies were sold out so I will definitely be back to try their other items. The prices are what you'd expect them to be in this area (~$4-5) with sandwiches being closer to $8-10.

Neha S.

Yelp
delicious egg sandwiches, pastries (try the london fog scone!!), and coffee with great service and beautiful local art in a small space

Maria A.

Yelp
Great coffee good Breakfast sandwiches and great Biscuits the staff is also very friendly good bagels during COVID they would deliver themselves thumbs up

Kathryn G.

Yelp
Try their July special coffees! The peach latte and the cherry latte are so good. They sound weird, but they work, and I was pleasantly surprised. The green, eggs, & ham breakfast sandwich is great, I'd highly recommend it and will definitely get it again when I order breakfast. For lunch, I've had the wicked tuna salad sandwich and loved it. It's very lemony, which was new for me, and I don't think I can eat a tuna sandwich without lemon now.

Melissa A.

Yelp
It's a coffee place. Go for the coffee. Or in my case the Blubbery Matcha Iced. That was the best drink ever. The sandwich was just ok. There was hardly any meat in it. At all. I get that it was pressed, but seriously, the meat was almost non existent. For the price I seriously expected it to be a good hearty lunch sandwich. I would go back for a drink and maybe get lunch somewhere else next time.

Nathaniel M.

Yelp
Good coffee and great breakfast sandwiches. They have good vegetarian options (including Impossible Sausage).

Dennis B.

Yelp
In the immortal words of Liz Lemon: " I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich." I will simply say that this place served a top 5 Sandwhich I have ever had in my whole life (maybe top 3). Please do yourself a huuuuge favor and order the Cranberry Chicken Salad Sandwhich. It is absolute perfection ( a perfectly moist and crispy at the same time, perfectly balanced masterpiece I had it twice -- and even the second time where it was made and sat in the fridge -- it was still incredible! The people who own it and run it seem to be (both from me interacting w them and from everything that was written on line) are beyond nice and caring. My only knock would be that it doesn't seem like the kind of place that would serve one of the world's greatest sandwiches (the pictures are a bit misleading lol). So in a nutshell I wish I ha discovered this place sooner! Ps: their coffee is great too (and pastries) BUT -- get the Sandwhich ! Please!

Franklin Z.

Yelp
I love this local establishment in the Mission Hill/Longwood neighborhood. In this area, there aren't that many local coffeeshops, so Solid Ground really stands out to me. I'm surprised I didn't find this spot earlier on being and going to school around here, but the quality and service you get here is super spot on. The price is reasonable and there are quite a few interesting seasonal drinks such as the coconut pandan latte or the nitro thai tea. I got to try the coconut pandan latte, and it was amazing. One of the best specialty drinks I've tried at a coffeeshop before. I will be back to try the nitro thai tea on tap. I came here twice within the past 2 days, and I definitely intend to come back often! Currently my favorite local coffeeshop in the neighborhood. Truly a gem!!

Jay H.

Yelp
Solid Ground has improved their service since my last review. Orders are much faster now. Keep it up!

Della S.

Yelp
Super cute cafe with an amazing menu! I just wish they were open for more hours and that there was more seating available (although it is already a very small space). Of their drinks I've only tried their coffee here but they brew it so well that I never feel the need to try other drinks. Their coffee is more expensive for its size than, say, Starbucks (a large cup is $3), but its strength and taste makes up for it! They also offer a bunch of non-dairy/lactose-free milk options which is awesome. Their snacks are cute and also tasty (usually around $2-3 each). I like getting their savory scones which come with pepper jam and butter. I tried a bagel once and it was also tasty. They have a large selection of cream cheese spreads to choose from (such as bacon cheddar scallion!). Don't come here if you're claustrophobic, but if not, then you're definitely missing out if you haven't been here yet.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
I work across the street, and I recently discovered this gem. Sandwiches for lunch are pretty delicious and they offer oat and almond milk for coffee (non dairy alternatives). Shop closes early, but it's a great spot for your breaks

Ria A.

Yelp
Looking for some solid (hehe see what I did there) coffee on a Sunday morning and realized this shop was within walking distance and decided to give it a try. I was also super tempted by the online menu and great reviews. Walking in, this coffee shop is doing pickup and takeout only during the pandemic and is being really safe, but still maintains that hipster coffee shop vibe if you go inside to order. The staff was also really nice about answering my questions. I chose one of the March specials - the cardamom pistachio latte. I'm Indian, and I swear this latte tastes just like a coffee drink flavored subtly with kulfi, an Indian ice cream with cardamom and sometimes pistachio. It was so good. I'll definitely be back!

Lisa B.

Yelp
What a great new addition to the Mission Hill area! This is not the place to get your specialty coffee, but it definitely has a ton of fun drinks to try if that is your jam. This month's features were a s'mores latte and blueberry lemonade! This place also had quite a few bakery goods like bagels, muffins etc. I got this fun looking fruity pebbles rice crispy that was just as tasty as looked. But MOST importantly, this place has the perfect neighbor cafe vibes. Easily a place to meet up with friends and chat, OR do some work with that nice coffee shop ambiance.

Kelly O.

Yelp
A welcome addition to Brigham Circle since Green T (RIP!) burned down. I've tried two different lattes thus far- the mocha (with Taza chocolate) and the seasonal special Oats and Honey- and both were tasty and solid, although both had some grounds in the dregs (not a big deal IMO, but just FYI). Nice staff, cozy atmosphere, ticks the boxes for what you look for in a cafe. Their food menu looks tasty, as do the pastries, so I'll have to check those out soon too.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Everything is for pickup and takeout as of right now! I wanted to try this cafe instead of getting the usual starbucks. The drinks tasted amazing especially the mint matcha latte. You can taste both flavors and the matcha still comes through. The pistachio and cardamom drink was so fragrant and sweet to my liking. The chicken sandwich was delicious and their pickled onions were spot on. The mini bibingka was great too and there was a subtle sweetness from the coconut which was perfect!

Meredith A.

Yelp
I am so happy this place opened! It is just what the neighborhood needed. The coffee and food are excellent, and it is very nicely decorated. The music and the vibe are cool and laid back. Check out the cool art, too! There is even a Citgo sign made out of candy wrappers!

Beatriz D.

Yelp
As a New Yorker, this place has the best bagel I've had in Boston so far, and I've lived here about two years now. Super friendly staff and I love the support they show their community through art exhibits on the walls! If you like your iced matcha sweet like me, I recommend that too!! And if you haven't had the Rock Solid sandwich yet... you're missing out.
