"Solita Tacos & Margaritas, a West Coast restaurant mini-chain featuring Baja-style Mexican fare and open-hearth cooking, debuted on Friday in Chicago and unveiled its first restaurant outside its home state of California. It replaces over-the-top party bar Pink Taco at 431 N. Wells Street. Positioned in tourist-heavy River North, Solita utilizes a wood-fired grill for entries such as a smoked pork belly dorado taco with amarillo hot sauce, and the Cadillac taco (stuffed with grilled carne asada, chipotle-garlic shrimp, melted cheese, and avocado). Larger options include charro-smoked chipotle-rubbed pork ribs served by the pound and an oak-roasted chicken. The original Huntington Beach, California location has a reputable happy hour and Solita’s owner hope to mirror that in Chicago. The bar features eight margaritas and more than a dozen cocktails like a watermelon habanero martini and “frozen beer” (cold beer poured over a frozen margarita). “It’s an approachable, contemporary, and casual environment, and the craft cocktail component brings it all together,” Randy Sharpe, CEO of ownership group Xperience Restaurant Group, told Eater in July. “They’re simple processes but the ingredients are high quality and helps us round out the concept.” Though Z Capital Partners is invested in both chains, Solita differs significantly in appearance from its infamous predecessor: Pink Taco’s hanging sculpture of a tattooed luchador and plush magenta banquettes have been replaced by classic exposed Chicago brick, dark natural wood and leather furniture, and spacious U-shaped booths that seem well-suited for large groups. At more than 9,500 square feet, the restaurant seats more than 100 indoors and nearly 650 more on an outdoor patio." - Naomi Waxman

Came on a very not busy Saturday at 4pm. We got seated in a booth and ordered pretty smoothly. There are complimentary chips and salsa dip. The guac starter is pictured and it's not the biggest size I think. The tacos are very yummy but the battered fish was pretty small in serving size too. That was disappointing. Otherwise good experience. Thanks!

Amazing food and amazing service!!! I was served water and chips and salsa as soon as I sat down. The salsa was so great! I ordered some tacos and the waiters were so great and attentive. The food came out fast and my drinks came quickly too.

This place is phenomenal !! From the moment you walk in, you will experience such a fun vibe. We went on a Thursday night and the place was buzzing. Strongly recommend making reservations. The food at Solita is absolutely amazing. Latin food done right. Everything we ordered was delicious and bursting with flavors. They start you off with a baskets of nachos and pinwheels. Ugly sauce accompanies it. That sauce is actually fire, we went through two baskets of the chips, it’s so addicting. We tried the ceviche tropical which was so refreshing. Loved the presentation and the citrus flavors woke up my taste buds. Next we had the tacos and the wood grilled fish fajitas. I cannot rave enough about the fish!!! Omg the spices and the flavors were a 10/10! I could eat that every day. The tacos were delicious as well. Let’s not forget the sides, the rice and beans are really tasty. We ended the evening with fried Icecream and that was the finale of our dinner. Perfect dessert to sum up a perfect dinner. They have a great selection of cocktails and mocktails as well. The margs are a must must try. The watermelon and spicy pina were fire!! Check out Solitas! Sally and her staff are AMAZING!!

Located conveniently on the loop it’s positioned in the perfect place! I want to say just how much so LOVE ❤️ this restaurant/bar and the people who work here! I went on a Friday night to kickoff my Chicago trip and it was the best idea. The drinks are amazing and affordable. I had my first cucumber margarita — life changing. It was refreshing and intoxicating. Lol. The bartenders were so fun, as were the people. The chips and salsa were great too. I’d I ever go back to Chicago, I have to stop and pay them a visit!

I was looking for a decent Mexican restaurant downtown and just happened to run across this one, almost by accident. A couple comments concerned me but a majority were positive so I decided to try it out. It started off rough with a 90 min commute due to unexpected weather and a horrible traffic jam on the expressway. While in traffic I called to let Solito's know we were running late. I spoke with Sally, who was very appreciative for letting her know.  She moved our reservation time 15-30 mins. I also asked if it was possible to get a semi private area as we were accommodating friends from out of town who were visiting Chicago for the first time. Sally told me not to worry about it,  that she has a perfect spot for us. When we arrived we were seated in a gorgeous and spacious U shaped booth. Turns out Sally is the General Manager and I have to say Sally and her staff were incredibly nice and so attentive to us from start to  finish. The service and everything from the salsa's and chips to the pot of coffee brewed fresh for us at the end was perfect. The food? It is legit Mexican. I'd say 9/10 for authentic flavors,  only a home cooked real Mexican meal is going to score close to a perfect 10. The chips were warm and had a fresh corn flavor. The Salsa's had a nice variety of chili flavors with levels of mild to serious heat. We did ask for the extra hot stuff. All of them were delicious. The Ceviche Tropicale was so refreshing and had the perfect amount of lime, salt and cilantro. The Chicken Taquaitos and Queso Al Forno had us borderline full before our main meals. The variety of tacos,  enchiladas and the Carne Asada were all exceptional. For dessert we managed to have some churros,  brownies, deep fried ice-cream and the bread pudding. We needed coffee just to get to the car. If you don't mind that food coma feeling and love being catered to I highly recommend my new friend Sally and her staff at Solito's. See you again soon.

Julia was our bartender and server and she did amazing despite the busy hours!! We went during happy hour and got 2 margaritas and 4 tacos for $30 with tax and tip. They also give you chips and salsa!!!

We stopped in to Solita to try their happy hour 3-6p (Mon, Wed-Fri). It was great service and delicious. Not terribly busy at the bar on a Weds but picked up after 6p. They had several food and drink specials on HH menu. Two tacos for $7 was a great deal-I had the crispy fish and they were great. Small but authentic Mexican tacos. The elote was flavorful. Free chips/salsa were a nice addition with variety of chips too. My favorite drink was the watermelon margarita but we didn’t have anything bad. Will definitely be back!

This Mexican brunch is different from the traditional American offerings and it is quite good. I ordered the scramble which had eggs, spinach, onions and cheese. The chipotle crema and salsa fresca gave it a nice tex-mex flavor. Flour tortillas included. Also ordered the breakfast burrito which was tasty but the beans overpowered the egg and cheese, but still flavorful. My only issue is that the spicy charro beans was not available, tho its on the menu as a side, and the resto has already been open for at least an hour. I can get black beans at most places, but i specifically wanted to try these charro beans, fairly disappointing. But overall, a very inviting place with lots of tequila drinks, if you enjoy that!!

Yelp
Was visiting Chicago a while back and I went for their happy hour I ordered their frozen margarita and 2 fish tacos/ 2 shredded chicken tacos. Really good!

Yelp
We made reservations for Mother's Day brunch. Reservations weren't really needed as this place was really empty. We were obviously able to get seated right away. The food was good, but the service definitely needed improvement. We started off with some mimosas. These were ok but something felt off. My wife ordered their Huevos Rancheros and my son and I both got chilaquiles, one verde and one rojo. The Huevos Rancheros were amazing. They came with two corn tortillas at the bottom, topped with refried black beans, two fried eggs, ranchera salsa, melted cheese, avocado and cotija cheese. The chilaquiles were ok. They came with cotija cheese, crema, pico de Gallo, and topped with two fried eggs. The pico de Gallo on the chilaquiles wasn't really necessary. It's mixed with the crema and hidden under the eggs, so it really didn't do much to the dish. My issue was with our server. She only came once to check up on us and that was when we were almost all done. So her timing was off and disappeared for a long time. We finally spotted her and waved her down so we can pay and leave. She put my card down on the table and walked away. My wife thanked her, and she ignored her. She didn't thank us for being their, didn't smile and didn't at least wish my wife a happy Mother's Day. Those little things go a long way, and she unfortunately failed.

Yelp
This place actually surprised me with how much I ended up enjoying my time! My niece and I came for some needed quality time + she just turned 21 so she really wanted to go to a happy hour with me. I chose this place as I had heard good things and the pricing of the drinks weren't bad at all! When walking in, the lady in front of us told us she was waiting 10min to be seated. We waited about 3min. That part was weird but I could tell they were short staffed. She was upset which is understandable If you're waiting at a restaurant hosting podium and no one shows up or even greets you. That was probably the only negative. You get a free appetizer w. Purchase when you check in so make sure you do that! Here's what we ordered on the HH menu: -Vampiro Taco $8 -Tacos Locos 2 for $7 - Carnitas 4 for $12 - Carnitas + Wood-grilled Chicken -Chicken Tacquitos $5 (Free) -Frozen Pineapple Margarita $9 -House Margarita $7 -(2) Ducky Frozes $9 each The place itself is pretty nice and spacious.

Yelp
Okay I loved this place the first time I went. This time left a little to be desired, but it was Cinco De Mayo so I can't blame them- it was jammed. We ordered margs & they just weren't that good- lacking alc lollll & but tasted like all sugar. They also didn't give us salt on the rim until we asked for it the second pitched. The vegetarian taco is really good! But one taco for 10 dollars? The rice was really bad & tasted reheated. However I have enjoyed this place in the past & am chalking it up to it being insanely busy. Still a really fun place & we got to sit outside!

Yelp
Loved the vibe of the place! Ambience was amazing on a Saturday evening, and the service was friendly as well. Their house salsas were too good. We ordered spicy and Watermelon margaritas, both of which were super delish! Here's how I would rate the place- Ambience - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 5/5

Yelp
First of all, let's call Solitas tacos for what it is: Tex Mex or more American inspired Mexican food. Now, in this context, I have to say the food and experience here were awesome. We visited Solita's for brunch and while I ended up ordering off their regular menu vs brunch, I'm sure it would have been great. Let's start with the chips and salsa. Both were addicting. The salsa not only had great flavor but a nice underlying heat. They also provided us with their even hotter "evil" sauces, and they definitely did not lie. They were HOT but good. They're definitely not for the faint of heart though. For appetizers, we ordered eloted and the guacamole. While both were good, the elote was a deceptively small portion considering it was a single corn on the cob that was prepared tableside. Maybe 2 people can get by eating it, but definitely not 3 people. You would need to order a second. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. I went with 2 of their tacos locos (spicy shrimp and Cadillac). These are the tacos that are bigger than the regular street tacos. I did feel like after eating chips and apps, ordering 2 tacos was more than enough food. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and super flavorful, as was the steak in the Cadillac. The brunch vibe itself for River North was a little on the quiet side. While the music playing was cool, I think this place would be even more fun if they had a DJ. Their drinks were great so i honestly think if they took it up a notch, they would have more people. Also, while I'm not a vegetarian, I have to give them props for having quite a few vegetarian friendly options!

Yelp
Solita's is a great spot for a casual night out, I've eaten here a few times but most recently a happy hour with a group of girlfriends (party of 10). This evening, the hostess was rude. She didn't acknowledge my presence and when she did she walked away. Other than this issue, service has been ok, but there are waiters who appear inexperienced. The food is good - generous portions, affordable and delicious. My only issue with this spot is the live music - first it's way too loud -- this has been the case on several occasions. In general, live music just doesn't fit well in this space -- the restaurant has a strange layout, so you can't see the musician from the dining area and the musician performs top 40. Overall, I appreciate Solita's for what it is - somewhere between Mercadito and Moe's Cantina.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Came here for their happy hour which is daily from 3-6pm. They have margaritas on special for between $7-$10. Really nice spot if you're looking for tasty margaritas. I had the watermelon margarita and the mango one and both were very good. I also had their grilled chicken tacos also good and I'm happy hour they are 2 for $7. They have some of the best chips and salsa I've ever had. Service was attentive and friendly. Great happy hour spot if you're in the loop area near Wells/Wacker. I will be back.

Yelp
I can't in good faith recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a decent meal. I'm pretty easy to please, but just about everything here missed the mark. First, our waiter was super inattentive. He seemed to disappear for ages at a time and then not look at us or make eye contact when he was back. We had to pretty aggressively flag him down to refill our visibility empty water bottle and order more food. I asked a few simple questions about portion size for the specialty tacos ordered a la carte and he was unable to answer except saying "I don't know, it's just a taco". The food itself wasn't terrible, but it was nothing to write home about. The salsa was good but I had the cali elote tacos which were so full of oil on the tortilla it wasn't super appetizing. Finally, there was a live musician playing that night. He was great in theory but SO loud it was difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling. I love music and was thrilled when I walked in to see they had it however it made for an awful environment to eat dinner on a weeknight. Maybe they're going for a more club like vibe? This place has a pretty good happy hour so if they can fix some tweaks it might be worth trying again for the drinks alone.

Susan W.

Yelp
We stopped by to grab a drink or 2 during their happy hour. Our server was very attentive and with only 10 minutes left before happy hour ended, was able to put in another round of margs for us. The restaurant was cool and busy. The drinks were cheap and totally worth the price as they were strong and made to perfection.

Harry G.

Yelp
Solitas it's one of the best tacos places in Chicago Downtown, the food it's delicious , the drinks as good as the food and the staff on point !! For sure we are going back !!

Sarah B.

Yelp
We came for Taco Tuesday -- arrived around 4:30 with no reservation and were sat immediately. It wasn't for another 30/45 minutes that the restaurant started to really fill up. Our waiter was really friendly and attentive. We had 4 tacos from the taco Tuesday/HH menu -- two carnitas and two oak roasted chicken. We also had an order of the taquitos. I thought it was all pretty decent! We also got margaritas. They were alright -- not the worst Margarita I have ever had but also far from the best margarita.

Rod D.

Yelp
We had some out of town visitors in for the labor day long weekend. What better way to enjoy the weather than with some tacos and margaritas. When you enter, it is your typical bar with windows/doors that open up to the outdoor seating area. There is ample bar space with a good variety of liquor selections. I spoke with the manager and he mentioned that Solita is part of a much larger restaurant group that holds over 100 restaurants. Solita currently has 5 locations, 2 in California, a New York, Boston and Chicago location. They have plans to open 2 locations in Florida, 2 in Vegas and 1 in Dallas. We went on the weekend where you can either order off of their brunch menu or their regular menu. I ordered a breakfast burrito off their brunch menu and a pork belly street taco off their regular menu. So good! I washed them down with a watermelon watermelon margarita. This had to be one of the best frozen margaritas I've had. It was the perfect blend of tequila and watermelon flavor I've ever had. The consistency was so smooth and it stayed frozen for a good period of time even as the weather was in the mid 80s. Definitely a spot to return back to.

Esther S.

Yelp
Our server Ariel was amazing! She was so cheery and welcoming. The food was also pretty fantastic and the salsas legit spicy. Not sure how authentic things are, but everything was flavored well and tasted great!

Gabby G.

Yelp
Made reservations for a birthday here and we were accommodated and taken care of very nicely. We ordered the watermelon margarita pitcher to share with the table. Overall, it was very refreshing and came with fresh limes and watermelon slices on the side. Definitely hit the spot, I'd recommend getting it for groups 4+. For $45 you can't go wrong! Food was delicious as well. The chips and salsa complimentary for the table were fresh. Salsa packed some heat, so those who are sensitive to spice take caution. I thought it was also pretty cool how the chip basket had a mixture of chicharrones. I ordered the el primo taco tasters which is your choice of any 4 tacos. I got the fish mazatlan, carne asada, carnitas and ancho Chile chicken. All very tasty and filling. We even got a free ice cream dessert for the birthday boy! My only caveat is that it took a little longer than usual for our food to come out, not a big deal. I know the restaurant is fairly new and our waiter was really nice so we didn't mind the wait much. We all left happy and super full. All in all, I'd give this restaurant a solid 4/5. If you're in the River North area check this place out even if it's just for drink!

Ashley H.

Yelp
Stumbled across Solita Tacos and so glad we did! We started with the quesadillas and tried the asada, grilled shrimp, and chicken tacos. All of the flavors in each dish went together so well and everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The prices are a bit high for the amount of food that you get, but still affordable by River North standards. There were some issues with some food coming out before others, and our drinks arrived near the end of the meal. Overall, a great experience and will definitely return!

Leah C.

Yelp
not the most memorable girls' night, unfortunately... not so delicious margaritas. and very lackluster food. overcharged us and we didn't notice until we got home. too many amazing mexican restaurants in the city for us to visit here again.

Faheem A.

Yelp
My first visit to this location since Pink Taco has left! It was very empty for a lunch time visit. It my party in addition to two tables already being served. I would say that the service was very blah. No attention to our table whatsoever. I had to ask for more chips about 4-5 times before actually getting them. The server, I can remember her name but it started with a "D", seemed as though she was high. The food was mediocre, I've def had better tacos. They tasted as if they had been sitting out for a few hours prior to being served. We also ordered a side of guacamole as a appetizer. We did not receive it until we received our tacos and didn't get any chips with it. The ambiance wasn't super inviting. It just seemed pretty stale with no character.

Amelia B.

Yelp
Tasty margs and good prices. I wish there was a bit more meat in the taco, but I liked the tortilla and salsa. Louder atmosphere here, just as a head's up. Went with a friend and we still were able to chat! Staff was accommodating, made suggestions from the menu and once service got going, was prompt.

Wendy H.

Yelp
This place is a nice place for weekend brunch. It wasn't packed at all and the price wasn't bad for 2 entrees. The huevos rancheros were fine. (I'm not a huge fan of beans.) It was nothing special but the meal was filling enough. The brunch potato nachos were good but I wish the potatoes had more seasoning and cooked longer. The bacon was crispy and salty enough. It comes with free chips and salsa.

Layna L.

Yelp
We came on Taco Tuesday, which is a pretty good deal: $7 margaritas and 4 for $12 tacos. Free chips and salsa are given with each order as well. The frozen margaritas were delicious and a generous size. The crispy fish and carnitas tacos were both great: I personally really enjoyed the juiciness of the carnitas, my friend enjoyed the light batter of the fish. Overall this is a solid place to come for a happy hour and for some cheap tacos on a weekday night.

Steve L.

Yelp
Came here with work colleagues for taco Tuesday happy hour and dinner. The spicy pineapple margarita is a must try. Lots to choose from with many varieties of tacos, taco combos, and of course other classics. I had a large taco on two corn tortillas and they pile on the goodness. We did have a brand new server who struggled a bit. She couldn't seem to multitask, which led to a bit of a wait on drinks and my order not making it to the table. I also ordered a Michelada and wasn't asked what beer I wanted. I was brought a corona. However I'm not taking points as we were not in a hurry and enjoying catching up. And because of the specials, the bill was around $120 for the night, including drinks and a guacamole app.

Steven B.

Yelp
Probably won't be coming here again for food. Definitely not the best place for tacos in the city, but it would be a cool place to relax and have a drink. I tried some of the quesadilla as well and that is what I could recommend if coming here. The service was quick, but we were also pretty much the only ones in there on a weekend afternoon.

Kristy P.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I have never given a restaurant one star...and I never ever wanted to... but this was my experience: I was super excited to try this new local restaurant because I saw great reviews on Yelp and the pictures on their instagram looked amazing..so my boyfriend, his friend, and I went on Tuesday to try out their Taco Tuesday Menu. I made a reservation for 8pm, got there right on time, and we were instantly greeted by a stressed out hostess. She let me know that our reservation basically did not matter and we wouldn't get a table until another 40 minutes but we could sit at a super small high top table in the bar. She gave me attitude when I was confused and asked her why/what happened, and basically implied I should have picked an earlier reservation... Not a great start... Our server Eve, seemed young, very chipper, and sweet..she explained their different Salsas (they have three) and took our order: 2 Original Margaritas on the rocks, 1 Watermelon Margarita (what they advertise a lot on social media), 1 elote app, and 1 taquito app. It took a while for us to get the chips to dip into the salsa as well as water...PLUS there were still tables next to us that needed to be bussed...that should have been a sign.... It's 8:20 now...30 minutes after ordering our drinks and apps...we wave down our server (who hasn't been back once) asked her to check on our drinks... It's 8:30 now... we go to the bar, and ask the Bartender to check on our drinks. He asked us what we ordered and said "OK". We literally are watching everyone run around clueless...even the manager! No one seemed to know what they were doing. It's 8:40 now...we receive our apps, but no silverware AND STILL NO DRINKS! And no one who worked there was around! We walked up to the host stand to try and see if there were rolls of silverware there - nope. Looked a little by the bar - Nope...and no one was around! The other patrons at the bar were chuckling almost like they knew our pain... We finally got our server, silverware, we stressed our frustration, and asked for the manager. - Now, we've been watching the manager do nothing but look confused and wonder around all night so I knew what I was walking into... he almost immediately came to our table, I told him what was going on, and he IMMEDIATELY jumped into defense and said that the bar was backed up, never apologized, gave me attitude with his body language, and facial expressions and walked away... From there they basically gave up on our table...never came back, never delivered the drinks...if they were so busy why didnt the manager make those drinks?! Margaritas aren't hard to make!!! my boyfriend went to hunt down the server (who was just standing next to the manager) to go and ask for the check....a minute later our YOUNG server came up to our table to let us know we can just leave because they were comping our meal. --- You'd think the manager would do this right? Nope, he instead has his young server who probably was over worked and needed help...go instead. I expect more from a manager... If he would have apologized, explain how they are new, still figuring it out, and swear that they would be better to make sure to come back I would have been more generous with my rating. In my opinion this restaurant will fail if they don't make managerial changes.

Yelp
Solita is easily my top find of 2022. I had decided to give them a try during their grand opening, and I have been excited to write this review ever since. The entire experience was exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with top-quality service by numerous staff members. I understand that service is not always consistent, but in regards to my experience, I have nothing but great things to say. We started out with the complimentary chips and salsa, which was a huge touch for me seeing as a very nearby competitor that offers upscale Mexican cuisine charges for this. Furthermore, the chips and salsa offered a variety unique assortment that I appreciated every part of. For our appetizer, we ordered Grilled Corn Elote and Watermelon Copa. Both of these dishes offered a unique flavor explosion that I highly recommend. Their presentation of the Grilled Corn Elote involved bringing it out still on the cob and cutting it onto our individual plates. Beautiful. My main entre was an assortment of street tacos that felt very authentic. The side of rice that they provided also packed a flavor explosion. Some of the best food I've had in Chicago. All-around, Solita deserves a visit and I am very excited to have them in the area.

Kevin K.

Yelp
Biking in the area and stopped in for a quick lunch. The restaurant is very nice and the bar has a cool agave light on the wall. They have outdoor seating but we sat inside. I had the fajitas which were very good. My wife really loved the food and even stoped the waiter to tell him how amazing it was. She's usually not that impressed by places so for her to do that you know that it was very good.

Ariana D.

Yelp
Disappointing. I was looking forward to trying a new Mexican restaurant in River North, but it was one of the worst restaurants I have been to in Chicago. We started with nachos and they were overloaded with toppings compared to the number of chips in the dish. However, the flavor was bland. The wood-fire chicken fajitas were cold. They had no flavor and the peppers were barely cooked (still crunchy). Certainly not what you expect from a fajita dish. The beer-battered shrimp tacos were also sad. The batter was more soggy than crispy and any flavor was missing.

Fernando M.

Yelp
Terrible service!!! Can't comment on the food since we were seated for almost 20 min and no staff had the decency to stop at our table.

Janet E.

Yelp
We were here on an early Friday afternoon and decided to stop in as we were walking by. Overall a decent crowd for 2 PM. Great and friendly service. The complimentary chips and salsa were incredible but holy cow!! That's some serious hot green sauce - like forehead burning, hot sauce. Lol. Largest quesadillas ever - filling, delicious and cheap ($12.00). Definitely order those!! Margaritas looked fantastic and they have a really solid drink menu. Unfortunately, we were having to deal with a long drive so did not order cocktails. Hope that you like Solita as much as we did.

Jim D.

Yelp
Place wasn't bad but I wouldn't put in any real effort into dining here again. Came for a company lunch. The interior is almost the same as the previous tenant "Pink Taco" but the food is a tad better. Shrimp appetizer was huge but reminded me of the shrimp from Tommy boy if any movie buffs are reading this. Pulled chicken chicken taco, nachos & elotes were all ok. The elotes are carved table-side but honesty there's only enough for one serving after said carving. There's tvs throughout the restaurant for anyone who watches sports. In closing, would I dine here again, sure if the company is paying again but I honestly wouldn't on my own dime.

Sarah P.

Yelp
On a Saturday night we were able to be seated immediately which is superb. And they had a live singer guitarist. They brought the corn out on the cob and cut it in front of you and it was so good - Smokey, sweet, a little spicy. The fried tacos del toro were ok. Nothing too superb about them. The service was quite slow and we ended up having to get up to ask for the check. Otherwise, I would definitely be back to try a different style taco.

Yelp
Go here! Taco Tuesdays are amazing, with deals on taco combos, classic margaritas and more. I opted for the watermelon margarita that came with a full slice of watermelon on the top. Dip that baby in the drink and enjoy the refreshing taste. The carnitas tacos are not to be missed. Add some of the salsa that they bring out and you're in for a treat. I went at around 5:20pm and the place was buzzing, yet the manager (at least I think it was the manager) had a full on conversation with us like we had known each other for years. They even brought in a guitarist to set the mood. At this rate I'll be there every week for happy hour.

Yelp
Free chips and salsa! The chicken quesadilla was HUGE! We split it between two people and still had enough leftovers for another meal! We both got the house Margarita which was good (not great), but I would definitely come here again.

Yelp
Went for happy hour. The cartnitas and crispy fish tacos were good. 4 tacos for $12 during happy hour. And the salsa for the complementary chips was good as well. The $7 Frozen Margarita was sweet but not strong. Would not get again. The main thing that made me drop 2 stars was the service. Unfortunately our water pitcher was never refilled and our waitress took a while to come check on us and hand us the check, even though the waiters were up at the front talking to each other. other than that I would say Solitas is a nice place for happy hour.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a weekday. There was no wait and we were seated right away. Taco Tuesday has some fresh food deals from 3pm-close. Happy hour is only until 6pm so go in early if you want to participate, but taco Tuesday food deals go until close. You start off with complimentary chips and salsa and 2 hot sauces. The chips are warm and the salsa is medium, but very flavorful. It add a huge hit. We had the elote, which was pretty good with a creamy chipotle sauce and on Taco Tuesday is only $5. We had the taco specials for dinner, which include 2/$7 tacos, but you can't pick and choose. You get 2 of the same tacos. We got the crispy fish and chorizo tacos. Also got a watermelon margarita, which they were really pushing. The marg was just alright--it's made of real watermelon juice, but I think the watermelon just wasn't good. The house marg was delicious though. For dessert, we got the churro bites which were really hot and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Delicious! They came with some sort of kind of fruity sauce which was good, but I'd have preferred a chocolate or Carmel dipping sauce. The service was also really good! Will definitely be back

Yelp
When your group of 5 walks in and are the only people in there should be the first worry. When they seat you in the back corner you should turn around and walk right out. Everything was subpar from the service to the food. The entire time while seated we could hear a fire alarm going off from the kitchen.... Still the only table in the establishment. Chilaquiles and the breakfast burrito were a hit but rancheros were mediocre "swimming in grease" while the taquitos were extremely dry. Now I know why for the hour we were there during peak brunch hours we were the only people. Would not recommend

Yelp
Visited a few months ago and sat outside on the patio. The service, food and cocktails were meh. Wont return.

Yelp
Went in for a drink with my wife on week night. We got the piña margarita which was good, and the watermelon margarita which was terrible, tasted like watered tequila. Was expecting a lot more for the price. We payed $36 for 2 drinks. The chips and salsa were pretty good, their chipotle smoked salsa is unique and tasty. Look forward to trying their food and maybe I'll update this review.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try out happy hour, but we came 5 minutes past unfortunately... we wanted some skinny spicy margaritas, but we were told jalapeño in the drink would be an extra charge ha! I also ordered the kale and pork belly salad -and made sure to ask if the size was good for an entree. Not only was it a smaller salad, but it first came without the pork belly. The waiter also didn't think there was anything wrong with bringing out the salad without a main ingredient... By the time my friend finished her meal, mine came out correctly but 'pork belly' actually is shredded small bacon strips. At least the manager came up to me and gave me complementary shrimp to add to my salad, but these small pieces of shrimp barely filled me up! The chips and salsa were a nice filler, but overall this place was not it. The live music would have been a nice touch, but since we were right next to it, we couldn't hear anything.

Yelp
This place has a great atmosphere and then it all goes to just not great at all. The chips were chewy with grease fried too low. The salsa was tasty but with no edible chips it's not very useful. A single small ear of corn was brought out to shave for an $8 appetizer of elote. We waited well over an hour for our food and then asked for it just to be served to go since our child had reached the limit. It took still 30 minutes more for her to bring a bag. When we got to the hotel every single item of food was prepared differently than the menu or differently than ordered and the serving size was tiny. I'm showing a photo of the literal bean water amount that was supposed to be a serving of charro beans. It was less than the height of a lentil and had maybe ten dissolved pinto beans in the liquid. (Actually 4 you can count in the photo since it's so shallow.) The burrito had jalapeños, green onion and avocado which were not ordered nor wanted and set it in shrimp which was ordered to be specifically NOT together in any form. They put banana on my child's pbj which is supposed to be a paid-for add on so I guess I got up charged for something he doesn't like and wouldn't eat the whole thing because of. Really bad service. Meh food with poor quantities for big price.

Yelp
We picked Solita Tacos to celebrate my birthday the other weekend and let's say that it was a variety of feelings of the place. The food was pretty good but a little expensive which I could say is alright for the River North area. The ambiance was good but I think it was WAY too crowded. Getting around the tables was difficult and people almost dropped things. The biggest thing that really pushed us over was the service. We didn't get a server until SO long which then getting even water was super difficult. Definitely need to lessen the number of tables that they take.

Yelp
Such a cute happy hour spot and the best salsa I've ever had!!! They have a deal that's 2 tacos for $7 and we shared the oak-roasted chicken and carnitas! Carnitas were a little fatty but that's to be expected. We were promptly sat outside and enjoyed our waiter as well. Frozen margs were good, but i still cannot get over the salsa

Yelp
This place has so much potential! I have been here a couple of times for happy hour and brunch. I think the prices for the 3 tacos and the 2 sides is pretty great especially it being in River North. The happy hour menu is very decent. The margaritas are great - we sat outside and I wish they had music outside. I would give the food and drinks 4 stars but the ambiance and service has so much more potential that's why I am giving it 3 starts. I hope to visit next month and see if my feelings change!

Yelp
Oh, Solita... Its predecessor, Pink Taco, had terrible service and mediocre Mexican food. Living nearby, it was inevitably a convenient option that you'd convince yourself couldn't be THAT bad, only to actually always surprise you by actually being that bad. I prophesied it would have 6 months left to live and sure enough, it closed. I had hope that Solita would avoid the same fate. Kinda funny that the owner would see Cali-chain Pink Taco go out of business and say to themselves "our Cali-chain with mediocre Mexican food will be different!" Solita at last opened and it turns out the food is indeed mediocre at best. Disappointing. BUT... there was a saving grace! Due to convenience I gave them a few more chances and stumbled upon their smoked ribs! Absolutely delicious!!! A true gem! While this sounds like a tale of redemption, sadly the trap had been set for me... I placed a takeout order with them and they botch the whole order. Meanwhile the restaurant is dead empty. How hard is it to make sure you're putting the right food into the bag when it's slow? Whatever, everyone makes mistakes. Having been fleeced once, months go by with me not ordering from Solita but then the GF is craving Mexican food and it's dreary and rainy outside... Ok, fine, Solita it is. I decide to order the chicken fajitas instead of the ribs while she gets the enchilada. I mean, how can you mess up fajitas? We pick-up the order and as usual, the restaurant is nearly empty. We walk home... only to find her enchilada has no green sauce as requested (but whatever kinda) and even worse... MY CHICKEN FAJITAS... HAVE NO CHICKEN!!!! I call up the dude and even he is dumbfounded: "What?? Really? We really forgot the chicken?" I brought it back as proof for a replacement and the fajitas ended up mediocre anyways. The restaurant is almost empty. How freakin hard is it to make sure you get the takeout order right!? It's just pure basics. Embarrassingly simple. How totally aloof the kitchen that they cant ever fill the orders properly? I probably ordered takeout a total of 4 times and if 2 of them were botched, how many are they messing up overall? If you can't do the basics right, nothing else good is going to happen for this place. What a joke of a restaurant. Mark my words: Solita is out of business by end of '23. The Chicago restaurant market is competitive. If you can't get your sh!t together, buh-bye! Let's all just hope it's not another mediocre Tex-mex restaurant that can't get a single thing right.

Yelp
Overall, an A-OK experience, but nothing that was overwhelmingly standing out! We sat on the patio for happy hour. We had the skinny margs and they were strong and delicious. The service was good - the waiter was super friendly and energetic. The chips and salsa were pretty good - I did enjoy their salsa [it's sometimes hard to find places with good salsa!]. We ordered the nachitos which were huge and pretty tasty. The Chile tofu tacos, however - aka the reason we came, were the items we barely could eat. We each took a few bites but the tortillas and the tofu were literally swimming in oil so we just felt like we were drinking oil and couldn't really enjoy them. The rest of the food was fine - again just not something that really made me say "I can't wait to come back".

Yelp
This is the perfect new River North find! We ordered the taco sampler (shrimp tacos, Carne Asada and fish tacos) and the Carne Asada dinner. The salsa and chips is so good, they also have happy hour during the week and taco Tuesday specials. The service was great, this is 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Food was good the service was okay...the ambiance 3-5 ... I think they could work on their prices a little bit because I feel like they overcharge

Yelp
Great taco deal on Tuesday's. Tasty fish and chicken tacos. Awful live music choices. Who wants a John Legend vibe while eating tacos and drinking margs? If having live music... I'd suggest considering something more appropriate to the cuisine / vibe of the restaurant
