"SOMA’s King Street West outpost is a chocolate lover’s dream, featuring handmade truffles, innovative chocolate drinks, and house-roasted bars in an open, lab-like shop. Their inventive products make ideal gifts—or local indulgences." - Elena Mahno

This place is spectacular. I've been a few times now, and it has never disappointed me. The storefront itself is beautifully designed and arranged presenting the chocolate and other chocolate things nicely. The staff are lovely, and super helpful and knowledgeable. I recommend the Milk Old School, and just blindly getting a bunch of truffles. They're all delicious and you absolutely can't go wrong.

During a family visit to the Christmas Market in the Distillery District in Toronto, we stumbled upon SOMA Chocolatemaker, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the attention to detail and the incredible design of their chocolate creations. Every piece seemed like a work of art, carefully crafted to delight both the eyes and the taste buds. What made us fall in love even more was their adorable mascot, Enzo the chipmunk. Naturally, having a family connection to the name “Enzo,” we couldn’t resist going back to pick up their “Enzo Watch the Stars” dark chocolate bark. It’s not just a treat—it’s an experience, blending rich, velvety dark chocolate with a whimsical charm that reflects the heart of SOMA. The staff at SOMA were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even sweeter. They were patient and attentive, taking the time to explain the different chocolates and helping us find the perfect treats. Our boys had a blast choosing their chocolates and were completely enthralled with the pop rocks candy chocolate. It was so fun watching their faces light up as the candy crackled and popped! SOMA Chocolatemaker is a must-visit spot, especially if you’re in the Distillery District during the holidays. It’s not just chocolate—it’s magic wrapped up in a beautifully designed package, delivered with warmth and care. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Google
We checked out Soma and it’s chocolate paradise for chocolate lovers :) The Dark Side of the Mug Hot Chocolate with hot milk was awesome. It was rich, creamy and smooth hot chocolate. Would definitely recommend. We also tried an assortment of their chocolate truffles (see picture) and they were delicious. They have a unique assortment of chocolate truffle flavours. We tried the following and they were good: Pomegranate Walnut, Fleur de Sel, Feuilletine, Vietnamese Coffee, Pistachio, and Pink Grapefruit

Google
Sumptuous and luxurious-tasting chocolates. The three things we tried were full-bodied and aromatic. If you're searching for something adventurous in chocolate, Soma is it. The store is spacious and the careful arrangement of beautifully packaged products is fun to browse. Note that there is seating in front of a giant panel of windows for you to enjoy their coffee and chocolates. The mocha was mind-blowingly good. Natural, very deep tones in the flavour, and a bitter-sweet taste. The truffle and old-school chocolate were an excellent treat too. I recommend these chocolates as a special gift. They're so nicely packaged and taste amazing. You can feel the love ❤️

Google
Haven’t been to the store specifically BUT the pink grapefruit brown sugar chocolate bar is delicious!!! The tartness from the grapefruit and the crunchy brown crystals are amazing. Love the tartness/sweetness ratio and doesn’t taste artificial at all! Highly recommend and trying this made me want to pay a visit to the store.

Google
Went here to do quick-chocolates-pick-up. Spent way too much time exploring through the store. The chocolate making section was closed because we went quite late in the day. But the selection was still pretty diverse and interesting! The staff was very helpful with their advice. The chocolates were soooooo good. This would make a great souvenir to take/gifting. Th

Google
Really great chocolate store in the city. They have delicious gelato and a wide selection of different chocolate options. They also have a really nice seating area in the back. That is great to work in highly recommend checking them out.

Yelp
I came here because I was recommended by a friend, and I loved it. I had hot chocolate and it was the thickest one (but not too sweet) I had in Toronto. It seems like a takeaway-oriented place, but it has a bar table and a few stools. It was okay to stay for a while. Staffs were helpful. I also liked the christmas vibes. They had a lot of handmade chocolates inside, it looked good for buying holiday presents, too.

Yelp
Hadn't been to SOMA in the Distillery District for ages, but wow, it's still a chocolate lover's paradise. Checking out is efficient, and staff are knowledgeable. Store is spacious and display is great for browsing if you are indecisive like I am. Highly recommend the spicy hot chocolate - interesting blend of flavours and just the right kick. If you like cocoa nibs, try the Old School Milk bar. Crumbles perfectly, and has the perfect amount of crunch. SOMA chocolates are pricey, but totally worth the splurge!

Yelp
Inside the Distillery District and noted as the best hot chocolate in the city. Decided to see if it was true! Got the original hot chocolate with milk. Pricey at over $5 for a small cup (it only comes in one size). Delicious but not groundbreaking to me. There are a couple seats inside to sit and they serve it in a very cute ceramic cup if you order for here. I looked at the other items and it's cute but too pricey for my taste. Maybe you will like it if you are a very big fan of chocolate!

Yelp
I saw their menu and immediately had to try the Mayan Hot Chocolate! It has the right amount of spices and and tastes very well balanced. Quite perfect for a cold fall/winter day. I bought a couple of curated chocolates and truffles and they all turned out to be amazing! Their truffle selection is exquisite and has very unique flavor combinations. I highly recommend getting these: Suntory Toki Whisky, Maya Dome, Thai stick, Vietnamese Coffee and the Tien Giang. The baristas and chocolatier were all super friendly. They even offered me a couple gelato and sorbet flavors to try - their Kesar Mango Sorbet and Chocolate Gelato are to die for! They have a open glass lab where the bean-to-bar magic happens and it is so cool to be able to see the process of chocolate making. If you happen to be in Toronto, this place should be high on your list to try.

Yelp
The Mango chili chocolate is the best! The chili is not spicy but amazing. The other offering are good too but the Mango is so unique and they do an amazing job at capturing the flavors. Also I would recommend the mocha, as it is made with real chocolate. If you are from the States, stock up!

Yelp
What we had: Dark Side of The Mug with hot milk $5.75 Maya with hot water $5.25 Taste: 5/5 I tried the Dark Side. The smooth and warm liquid was infused with the rich aroma of cocoa. Definitely a comfort drink for this season. I also had a sip of the Maya from my friend. It had a pretty strong kick, but I liked it. Vibe: 5/5 The cute squirrel printed on the mug won my heart. And I liked how they displayed chocolates like artwork. It felt like walking into a classy gallery. Service: 4/5 Friendly and helpful staff!

Yelp
It's shocking that a chocoholic like myself has been in the neighborhood for over a year and walked passed this place almost daily but never ever thought about going inside, until I read about them online. What a major FOMO moment! They are located on Kings and squeezed between offices and a gym, with a small wooden door facing outside, which makes them easy to ignore (as least for me). The inside looks like a cáfe but with chocolate instead of coffee. I love they have a wide selection of bars and each with stunning package, which makes them great for gifts. They also have truffles in the display counter and hot chocolate. I got myself a bar of milk chocolate and a small pack of orange peel dipped in chocolate. The total price came out to be over $20 - not cheap tbh. The milk chocolate bar is surprisingly not too sweet, and tastes different from your typical chocolate bar - more milky aftertaste is the best description I can do. The orange peel package is mini, about the size of my palm but taste refreshing. I guess after now on I will get my weekly chocolate fix from this place rather than buying bars from Metro. Might also grab some as gifts for friends and family.

Yelp
Chocolate truffle is the best. I tried ten with almost all of them are very delicious. But the chocolate drink is good but not as my expectation

Yelp
Excellent chocolate shop in distillery district. I was planning to go for a gelato, but they were sold out so I ended up getting an affogato . Not too expensive, great service, and a cozy store.

Yelp
Beautifully intricate chocolate that tastes good too! We got the white, milk, and dark chocolate. I'm usually not a fan on white chocolate and I loved it.

Yelp
We arrived about five minutes before they were closing for the night, but I'm so glad we were able to squeeze this in! It's probably a good thing that we didn't have a lot of time in there because I wanted to stay forever. The smell...what an amazing aroma! They should make a candle out of it. My friend and I opted to buy a couple of the prepackaged bars on the wall, brown butter rum and dark chocolate with icewine lees. I thought that was all I was going to purchase until I saw the gorgeous glass case of the individual chocolates you could buy. Of course we picked up a box of nine. The flavor options seemed endless, so it was hard to decide!

Meg A.

Yelp
Fantastic chocolates! They taste exquisite and fresh!!! I try to stop into chocolatiers when traveling and these have been my favorite so far!!!

Yelp
Hubby & I stopped here to pick up a couple of boxes of chocolate & we were greeted by their very friendly staff. The person who assisted us was quite knowledgeable about each of the handmade pieces we selected and shared information on how the chocolate was sourced. Aside from the case of handmade chocolates that we chose from, they also have an array or chocolate barks, bars, gelato & beverages for purchase. I especially enjoyed the open kitchen as you could see the chocolate making in the works.

Veena M.

Yelp
Spacious location with some room to linger. The truffles and hot chocolates are great. They also have a bunch of chocolate bars, cookies and seasonal treats. The staff behind the counter are friendly.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday evening one hour before they closed. We were greeted by the kind staff who were pre-closing the store. I got one scoop of gelato and I was allowed to pick 2 flavours: Sicilian pistachio (extra $1) and Thai coconut sorbet. The gelato was incredibly flavourful and I loved how strong and rich the pistachio was! I also love how they use "ecotensils" to scoop the gelato. Yay for more sustainable and eco-friendly cutlery! Service was quick.

Yelp
Everything in the stores are nice and chic. I love chocolate and I almost tired all the hot chocolate from many stores in Toronto. Soma used to be better a few years ago. My today hot chocolate order was so sweet like the last one and cold with no options of cup size. So disappointing and never try it again as I thought the last time was bad by accident but it seems it going to serve like that. Also, I used to get Soma sugar free dry chocolate with a good pice but now it turns to $20 and it is not delicious as it used to be. No recommended for chocolate lovers It you like so weet and cold try it.

Yelp
I had wanted to look for a chocolate shop in Toronto and I had seen that Soma was the place to go. It also helped that it was close to where I was anyway haha... yeah. Welps. I had come in looking for chocolate or chocolate bars, but reviews indicated that their Spicy Mayan hot chocolate was the thing to try. Hot chocolate with water (ew) or milk. I went with the milk (can't be worrying about them calories and sacrificing for taste, now can I) They have a table or so in the front but they also have a room in the back where you can watch some of their employees making some sweet treats. This is also where the restrooms are. There was a bit of thumping and whatnot from above due to construction when I went, but I didn't mind that. Their spicy mayan hot chocolate has the perfect amount of spice to it, a kick to it that is pretty strong. The base is creamy and smooth, which is good for a hot chocolate, now ain't it? It has chili pepper, orange peel, ginger, vanilla, and some sekret spices. I absolutely loved it, and with the on and off rain going outside, it went well with the weather. Some of the bars they have that (luckily) could make it home - mango bar with chili lime salt. Has an award with it, but having a mango bar is interesting, with the chili lime salt taste coming in just a tad late..tastes different is all I can say lol. They also have 100% dark chocolate as well (yay) and some of their spices/hot chocolate for sale. Also they have truffles as well, and if I didn't have a lot of dessert this day, I probably would have got some as well. Prices are a bit higher than usual, but I assume you're paying for quality. Watch out, otherwise you'll have a big bill when you finish looking at it allll.

Yelp
TIME: Wednesday @8pm It was a cold night and some got chocolate sounded like it would hit the spot. Went in hoping to take a break from walking and chill--I mean hang out and keep warm for a bit. Here's what I went for: HOT CHOCOLATE - DARK SIDE OF THE MUG (w/MILK) - 10oz - $5.09 Cocoa, Organic Cane Sugar, and Madagascar Vanilla. I often find sipping chocolate to be so thick and rich so I figure adding milk would help. Ok yeah that sounded like it wouldn't make sense. It was good though! Rich, creamy and not too sweet. That's how I like it! Unfortunately, this spot is not open late until 10pm like It says on Yelp. It closes at 8pm I feel like those jerks who decides to come in and order at closing time. I didn't know, I swear! I felt this place was fine. It's expensive. I can convince myself that it's quality but it tastes like any other decent hot chocolate spot. What I ordered was good. Oh well. The shop was cute and I was tempted to have their gelato. This place has lots of gift and great options. My visit was short, but sweet.

Yelp
Their packaging is getting cuter! It is so hard to resist and not buy those cute packed itemS. Fully knowing their chocolate is not my cup of tea, I still bought their almond chocolate and strawberry salt dark chocolate. But my goal is their soma crisps. If you have it have it before, it is a must. My review ratings is solely based on soma crisps (aka not their chocolate)
google avatar

Yelp
Sister came back from Toronto and bought back Soma Chocolate. The chocolate was pretty good. No added sweet/ sugars to it. Very natural. She got the hazelnut covered with dark chocolate. I liked it. Definitely is something you have to try when in Toronto. Also makes good souvenir back

Yelp
An update long after first time of review. This place is still amazing! Recently we bought the truffle box (24 pcs) and Dark Lover's Lunch Box (6 dark chocolate bars with a cute cat on cover) as special snacks for Valentine's Day...well, we didn't consume them in one day but the truffle box was finished in a week long and now we're working on the Lunch Box. Apparently 24 pcs truffle box can't cover everything they have, the very interesting olive oil truffle didn't appear in our box. But I did get cocoa beans, coffee crunches, balsamic vinegar and another few pieces of delicious and creative dark chocolate truffles! Not to say others are not tasty...just that I still have my personal preference. Dark chocolate bars in the lunch box taste bold and smooth, definitely worth trying if you're a dark chocolate lover. Unlike truffles, chocolate bars last much longer (2 years since packaged) so I can probably stock up quite a bit at home for snacking in the next couple of months...assuming we don't lose self control. Side note - they also sell coffee beans in their store, though the beans are not roasted by themselves.

Yelp
Officially my #1 favorite chocolate spot and I LOVE chocolate. I tried 5 or 6 assorted truffles and they were all amazing, even the coconut one surprised me as I do not normally like coconut chocolate (my friend chose this flavour for us). I felt like each truffle had a multitude of complex but fresh, refreshing flavours that complemented each other perfectly. I also like that most of the truffles are made with a dark chocolate, which I prefer. The shop had many truffles to choose from but also drinks, gelato, bagged chocolates (small sample sizes), bars, cookies, nuts, dried chocolate fruit, etc. We also tried the toffee cubes. We were expecting them to be like brownies but they have a hard cookie/toffee like texture. Still delicious, it pairs well with coffee or tea. In our case, we dipped it in our tea latte from starbucks to soften it up a little. My friend and I both liked their Old School Milk Chocolate bar the BEST! I love the crunchy but unexpectedly smooth, creamy texture. It has a grainy crunch since the cocoa nibs and sugar are coarsely ground. (This is a 3 ingredient chocolate bar.) I think this is a MUST TRY item in their shop. Its unique and an "original" chocolate. This inspires me to try their 2 ingredient chocolate bar next. ps. i love the cute packaging. the owner paints them herself according to her instagram. There are also a lot of cat motifs as it looks like she has a cat as well. Lastly, there is definitely something to love here for everyone.

Yelp
Soma has become a staple for me when I'm visiting Toronto. It's the perfect place to warm up between activities. Their Mayan spicy hot chocolate is to die for--it's creamy, rich, slightly sweet, and just a bit spicy. The barista also made some lovely latte art on top for an added bonus. Soma also has an impressive selection of the best chocolates imaginable. My mom got a Vietnamese chocolate bar, which seemed a little insane since it was 15$, but it was honestly one of the best chocolate bars I've ever had, if not the best. I'm also obsessed with the coconut clusters they have--soo coconutty and good. They had so many other choices too, it was hard to resist spending like 50$ on chocolate. If you love chocolate, go to Soma. I don't think they sell anything that isn't amazing.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious gelato! I came here for the first time last month for a quick treat. After some quick review reading, I decided to go with the dark chocolate gelato. It was the most decadent gelato I've ever tasted. It was so rich in flavour, that I'm still thinking about it weeks later. The service was also so friendly! Next time, I think I'll try half raspberry & half lemon ( I've heard really good things about this one )
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
Their chocolate is delicious! Overpriced but good. I took a star off because of the coffee. It was the first slightly burnt bitter coffee I've bought around this area so don't think I'll be heading back. But the price was decent, a flat white for $3.99
google avatar

Amelia J.

Yelp
This is the real deal. You can taste the quality. I was fortunate enough to be gifted a truffle box for my upcoming birthday - a perfect delivery during the pandemic. The packaging is beautiful but the range of flavours is what really impressed me! Favourites inclued: poprocks (yes! a fancy ass chocolate with poprocks), wild cherry, thai coconut, spicy mayan, brown butter...okay, actually, all of them were delicious. They're so fresh that you don't even refrigerate them, you just have to eat them within three days! OK, if I must!
google avatar

Danica C.

Yelp
Soma is one of the best Chocolatier in Toronto I would say. They make high quality chocolate products. Once you walk in the store, you can smell the nice aroma of coca. I especially loves the chocolate drinks they offer. My all time favourite is the Mayan Spicy chocolate intense shot. The Bicerin (traditional chocolate espresso from Turin, Italy) is well balance with chocolate and espresso. The store display itself is very eye-pleasing. You can just spend long time there to check out all the goodies and watch the kitchen making chocolate.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
I LOVE Soma. If there was a Soma on every street corner, I wouldn't ever shop anywhere else for my sweet treats. The shop has a delightfully cozy ambiance. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by soothing background music, the soft hum of chocolate conching machines, and walls of amazing chocolate goodies for you to admire (and purchase!). There are a few seats by the window and a few tables in the back, where you can enjoy your treats. Everything on the shelves is super high quality and delicious. If you're used to Hershey's or Nestlé, prepare to have your definition of "good" chocolate shattered. The prices are a bit higher, but it's totally worth it. I'd recommend getting at least one item of "pure" chocolate - whether a plain dark chocolate bar or the shot of liquid chocolate - since that's where the magic lies. The truffles, baked goods, and spiced/flavored chocolates are good too, of course, but they doesn't let the chocolate itself shine through as much. My only complaint is that they don't serve their gelato or sorbet during winter. Dealing with 8 months of Canadian winter is difficult enough, but to also be deprived of gelato is just cruel. But at least I can drown my sorrows in a hot chocolate. In summary, if you have a black heart and want to live a life devoid of joy, then stay away. Otherwise, come to Soma and enjoy chocolate heaven on earth.

David H.

Yelp
I ordered on their website and it said about 3-4 days for delivery. After emailing to ask them a couple of times about the status of my order and broken promises 11 days later I had to ask for a refund.

Yelp
Best local Chocolatemaker in Toronto, hands down! Have been coming here to buy chocolate bars ever since I moved to Toronto in 2014. **Warning** Once you go SOMA, you can't go back! I love chocolate and ever since I discovered this lovely store, I have massively cut down on branded chocolate purchases. Soma has either made me save a ton of money or made a load off of me, but I don't care-It's that good! Everything from their dark to milk chocolate bars to their gelato is superb! I absolutely love everything but here are my forever favourites: 1-Dark chocolate bar 70% 2-Raspberry bar 3-Roasted White Chocolate bar I always leave the store with these classics. They always come out with new stuff too, such as the Mango Chili bar (what!!), so don't worry and have fun exploring!

Yelp
Top chocolate spot in the city. Not many seats. So it's more of a take out spot. Spicy Mayan sipping chocolate is one of the greatest dishes on earth. Try the truffles. I love dark chocolate and this place has unique flavours. The bars and the cookies make great gifts.

Eleanor K.

Yelp
Best chocolate, hot chocolate, coffee with chocolate in Toronto. chocolate is worth every penny.

Yelp
Always on a mission for my obsession for great chocolate. I have been transported to chocolate heaven. My amazing fiancé researched this for me. Fortunate to visit both locations today. Bought chocolates at both. Pray I am able to bring me bags home for family. If I eat them I will be horribly ashamed yet not surprised. Will do my best. I did purchase a box of six which should be gone before breakfast. I even ate one in the shop before I left. The quality and packaging is incredible. I should be thankful there isn't a U.S. location. Small pleasures...great chocolate. Need to research the history of how this company started. Whoever did....my idol or idols.

Yelp
My previous reviews are just a non-stop rave of how great their hot chocolate, bars, and cookies are. Did you know they do also gelato and sorbetto here? Honestly... their flavours just blew me away and how good they are! I'll keep this update short and sweet... come here if you want Toronto's best dark chocolate gelato and the best Ontario Strawberry gelato. And Soma takes their iced treat seriously... their chilled gelato area isn't the typical hills of neon coloured ice banks on full display. They're housed in the proper metal containers and covered shut. Here's my experience with their great flavours Soma Dark Chocolate gelato - I think Soma has one of Toronto's best chocolate and turning that into gelato? good lawd... this was their dark hot chocolate reincarnated into the richest and truest dark chocolate gelato I've found in Toronto. It rivals the ones I've had in Florence Italy. To say it was creamy is an understatement... it just melted perfectly onto my tongue. And I love how this wasn't a sugary overload but the sweetness hits you first and then gives way to the wonderful bittersweet deep dark chocolate notes their chocolate bar is known for. This should anyone that dark chocolate ice cream is amazing. If they're not convinced, check their pulse. 5+/5 Ontario Strawberry gelato - Every time I see this, I order it.. I've had it at Roselle, Bang Bang, Sweet Olenka's... etc and Soma is a gorgeous true berry flavour that is like biting into a fresh juicy strawberry. It reminds be of the French fraise des bois ... the super flavourful, Ferrari red, and delicate smaller strawberries. I love how they had large chunks of strawberries in the gelato. Just like the dark chocolate, it is very creamy. 5+/5. Vietnamese Coffee gelato - I tried this as an option to see if I would like this better to compliment the chocolate. The strawberry was the winner but this is a solid option. It has a rich coffee flavour but I'm beyond a coffee note, I'm not sure what made it uniquely Vietnamese Coffee in this gelato. Normally you have thick condensed milk in the drink which adds a sugar spike and rich texture. I think Kekou does this a smidge better. This gelato version is still very good though! 4/5

Yelp
Soma is one of my favourite spots in the city! Everything they make is so delicious and I have never been disappointed. My favourite chocolate is their strawberry rhubarb truffle, it is so summery! There are always seasonal products too (especially around Christmas) so I like to go back and try different things. I recently tried a key lime pie truffle and it was amazing as well. I also love their dark chocolate tumbled sour cherries. They come in a cute glass jar and are super addictive. In the summer I actually tend to order their gelato more than their chocolates. Soma is actually one of my favourite gelato makers in the city and they are so underrated because more people associate them with their chocolates. Soma's dark chocolate gelato is hands down the best chocolate gelato I have ever had. It is a must for chocolate lovers! All their fruity gelatos are great too. I love their seasonal fruit ones, like their Alfonso Mango which tastes like biting into a real mango. Their honey gelato is another favourite too! I also like how their packaging is really beautiful and all painted by the owner - talk about multi-talented! Their chocolates make great gifts and I usually get items for birthdays and for guests visiting the city. One note about the space, the King St. location only has a few bar stool seats, maybe about five or so but it is usually not full when I go. Their Distillery location has a bit more seating but The Distillery is also busier since it is more frequented by tourists in the area.

Yelp
They make delicious coffee and my favourite thing there is the lemon toffee with pistachios on top. Highly recommend their amazing chocolates!

Yelp
Review is only for the gelato. Second dessert of the day. This was most certainly a welcoming treat after we had snagged some free alcohol-infused ice cream off a promotional truck down the street. Samples are provided upon request. My friend and I decided to share a two scoop cup. She chose the pistachio gelato and I picked the blueberry basil sorbetto. Whoa. The pistachio was good, but the blueberry basil was just perfect. Fruit and herb flavors marry so well together. Absolutely delicious and refreshing. Seating available in the back and front. Service was just okay. Great escape from the Toronto heat.

Yelp
My absolute favorite chocolate shop. I drive from the U.S. to Toronto on a regular basis to buy chocolate here or at the Distillery location. The quality of Soma chocolate is top notch. We usually buy a bunch to take home but also some truffles or get a bicerin or hot chocolate to enjoy in the shop before we leave. Soma is a little piece of heaven in Toronto.

Yelp
In my previous review for Soma, I said: "When you die and go to Heaven, angels greet you with roasted white chocolate ice cream from Soma." Let me just amend that to say that: When you die and go to Heaven, angels greet you with roasted white chocolate ice cream AND spicy hot chocolate from Soma. Anyway, I'm convinced that the owner of Soma made some deal with the Devil because HOW ELSE do you explain how good the ice cream and hot chocolate are.
google avatar

Yelp
I first discovered Soma when I was researching "must try" spots in Toronto. Soma was on the list for their hot chocolate and gourmet chocolate. BF is a huge hot chocolate fan, so I put it on our list. Originally, we had planned for a quick drive-by and hot choco to-go, but we had some time to kill before our timed tickets to the Aquarium. We were pretty tired from walking around ROM and Kensington Market all day so we decided to head over to Soma for a break. BF had the Spicy Mayan Hot Chocolate and I had their Dark Chocolate Gelato. Man, the gelato was rich and smooth. BF really liked his hot chocolate, because he likes his hot drinks spicy (he's a big Chai fan). We sat in the back of the store for a while and just enjoyed the chocolatey goodness. There are a bunch of interesting chocolate bars in the front that I didn't opt to partake in. I had so much fancy chocolate left over from my visit to Iceland and Chile that I couldn't possibly buy anymore. But if I didn't, I would've definitely purchased some!

Yelp
Expertly crafted chocolates artfully arranged ! Nothing lacks from these chocolates. They are tasty, flavorful, and ne there are many options to choose from. I also tried the spicy maya hot chocolate and tried a sip of the classic hot chocolate. The maya had the sharpness from chili and ginger as well as a citrusy flavor from orange topped off with a warm vanilla twinge. I wish I had gotten some powder to go ! I tried an assortment of chocolate pieces as well from classic dark chocolate and sea salt to a similar maya chocolate to the hot chocolate and an orange merengue. All were good and had great depth to the flavor. If you are in Toronto you must go !

Yelp
I always come by here for their classic hot chocolate. It's decadent and delicious on a cold day! They also have an amazing assortment of sweets and chocolate truffles, of which I always make sure I take a bunch back to Europe to share with friends!

Yelp
On hip king street. They have gelato that are pretty decent. Flavour is pretty strong. Got a bunch of chocolates you can bring home. Price is reasonable with espresso around$3.50

Yelp
Milk old school, the one that won International Chocolate Awards in 2016, is one of a kind. You can only get it in a package of 6 of them and it's definitely worth it. I tried their gelato and didn't like it much (maybe because I just came from Italy but it tasted too sugary to me). I also tried their powdered chocolate (forgot the official name) and it was too rich. This is a perfect place for a true chocolate lover but if you only pike chocolate as a flavor and not the essence of a dessert, this isn't your place. I love rich chocolate so I enjoyed it but I can see how it might be too much for other people

Yelp
Mayan Hot Chocolate with my Hot and Spicy Best Friend at Soma Chocolatemaker?! On a winter day nothing better than sipping a liquid dessert and just daydream or just catching up with your friend.... I personally love the space at the King Street location a lot better than the location at Distillery! The spacious high ceiling, the seating, and the open kitchen that you can really look at how those chocolate are made! Please tell me Hot Chocolate if they are spicy, they are not flattening?! Please just lie to me?! I will believe everything you say....

Yelp
Nothing like a trip to Soma with a good friend after an all day meeting. I love Soma and was so happy they had one pack of the salt n peppa brittle left. Also grabbed a few other treats to last for ages: toffee almond milk clusters, coconut milk clusters and a mini milk chocolate hazelnut bar. Forgot to mention that I also grabbed some of the roasted white chocolate on Karl's recommendation. I am not a huge white chocolate fan, but it was delicious. If you like toasted marshmallows from a campfire, then this is for you. :)

Yelp
I was extremely excited to come here. The product wasn't as rich as I thought it would be I actually found the chocolate to be too sweet . The gelato was delicious tried the coconut and the mango.

Yelp
Toronto is so lucky to have Soma call the city home! This very lovely outpost is an amazing cafe and showroom to the many delicious offerings that Soma creates daily. The drinking chocolate was beyond my wildest expectations and would satiate even the most extreme of chocoholics. The chocolate bars, twigs, and truffles are made with impeccable ingredients and exact craftsmanship. I'd be remiss if I didn't call attention to the amaretti cookies they sell here - easily the best tea cookie I've ever had. Crunchy on the outside with a nice spongy interior and a hint of rum...I couldn't replicate if I tried, and I have. Note to bakers: please make sure you pick up the baking cocoa offered here. It's $12 for a jar and is leaps and bounds above anything offered in the grocery stores - I made chocolate hazelnut biscotti with it and had great success with a deep, developed chocolate flavor. One of my favorite places in Toronto, don't miss it!

Yelp
We had gone to winterlicious dinner at Lee restaurant and decided to skip the dessert. So we went to Soma to try their highly recommended chocolates. We got their chocolates to go but we had the Mayan chilli chocolate and the regular hot chocolate there. I recommend having the Mayan chilli chocolate neat- no milk or water added to it. Their pistachio chocolates are divine - the best I had so far. First visit and service though good may be a bit reserved. So giving it a 4 start. Definitely demands a second visit!
