"In an antique bar space with over 100 years of history, on a coveted corner in one of the trendiest parts of the Eixample, Soma opened in 2021 to instant accolades from the gourmands of Barcelona. Cozy decor and a Parisian-style terrace set the stage for a menu of Catalan tapas with a strong Italian character and hints of France. Look for duck a l’orange, galetes de socarrat de risotto (a risotto cooked until compact and crispy like the bottom of a classic paella), marinated mackerel with strawberries, and ragu-stuffed rigatoni." - Sam Zucker

Had a wonderful dinner. Every single plate is well-composed and balanced. Just about every plate could be considered a signature dish. Outstanding service, English speaking, very friendly to tourists. The octopus and eggplant were really good and I would order them again, but I have had similar quality dishes in other parts of the world. On the other hand, some of their simple tapas dishes were head and shoulders above anything I've had in the US. The potatoes bravas tasted so much better than what I've had in the US it made me think it's a different dish. The pasta is really unique, it's almost like a dumpling. The shrimp tasted like the same species as aka ebi at expensive sushi places, but the dish tastes completely different with the creamy sauce.

Enjoyed most dishes we ordered, sea bass and jamon were our favorites. Potatoes were drenched in the sauce and croquette was okay. Rigatoni was interesting, different but good. Service can be better.

A lovely and cozy restaurant with excellent food and service! Everything we ate was so delicious. The tomato toast in particular is so simple but SO flavorful and unique. I also thought the prawn carpaccio was not something you’d find elsewhere but so tasty.

Absolutely loved this place. The food was the best we had in Barcelona. I would recommend everything, as it was all great, but the veal cheeks and the rigatoni were both of the highest standard.

Overrated. I booked attracted by the good reviews and nice photos but I was disappointed and wouldn’t go back. As starters we took pan con tomate with way too much tomate (see the picture), croqueta de boulets with no much taste, caponata a bit dry. Then we tried the carrillera (only plate I liked) and the entraña which was a bit hard and I didn’t like the match with the basilico sause which was too strong. As a dessert I got a tiramisù…I am sorry, but as Italian I can tell you it wasn’t a real tiramisù. Very dry base (and wasn’t savoiardi bisquits as it should) with too little coffee. I am sorry because I was really looking forward to try this place but in the end is really nothing special. Ambience is nice but not enough for making me come back.

The vibe and decor is a hip but classic stylish bistro. There was quite a long wait for lunch because it’s a small place but we stood at the bar window and they let us have drinks and food there. It was fun and casual nonetheless and Cristian was such a kind and transparent server, who kept us aware of wait times and didn’t make us feel unwelcome even with a busy long queue. The food was also a nice change from average tapas.

I really liked this restaurant. We shared some octopus and slow cooked veal cheek on a carrot purée base. We also ordered the boquerones with pan con tomate. The ravioli also look very appetising. We will definitely come back :)
