Overall, very good place for seafood in Bangkok. Prices are a little expensive when you get live crabs or prawns, but understandable due to the location. The service is amazing and the place is huge, so it’s fairly easy to find a table even in rush hour. Only thing we didn’t like was how loud a lot of tables were. Very noisy place so not the best to enjoy your seafood calmly, which is what we wanted. But great taste and great product!

This restaurant outlet is Michelin selected and was the first lunch of our trip as it was very close to our hotel. I had my favourite yellow curry stir fried crab again and the rendition here was superb, possibly the best I had in Thailand so far and it goes so well with rice that I probably mopped up more sauce, gravy and rice than I should have. There were many tourists from China and Korea at this rather busy restaurant branch. The scallops with asparagus were okay but both the curry crab and salt and pepper prawns were very delicious. The fried fish was quite tasty as well but I can’t remember the exact flavour we ordered. On hindsight, we should have ordered the crab meat version of the curry so I did not have to peel the crab and I’m sure it would be just as good. This was a very enjoyable meal and I will on the search to see if there are better versions of yellow curry crab elsewhere.

This restaurant has been getting Michelin stars for many consecutive years, and for good reason. The food is delicious, and the service is impeccable. I highly recommend their curry paste shrimp. However, the parking lots can be quite difficult to find.

The establishment is quite pleasant, and it appears to primarily cater to tourists. It is advisable to make a reservation. The food is of good quality and reasonably priced. If you are interested in fresh seafood, I highly recommend it.

Crab meat with curry - over rated, and a bit oily, the taste is not strong either. We paid 720TB for small size but the crab meat is not as much as expected. Trotter - soft and juicy except that the skin (end) is not well cleaned Crab meat fried rice - must try An overrated Michelin restaurant

Absolutely fantastic experience at Somboon on Surawong Road — easily a 5-star spot if you’re after authentic Thai seafood in a well-run, iconic setting. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive throughout, making the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The curry crab meat is an absolute must-order — rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor without being overpowering. It’s their signature for a reason, and it lives up to the hype. We also tried the chili squid and garlic prawns, and both dishes delivered bold, balanced flavors and were cooked perfectly — fresh, tender, and full of character. The ambiance is lively yet comfortable, with a classic Thai restaurant feel. It does get busy, so a reservation is a good idea, especially on weekends. Service was efficient even with the crowd. Prices are fair considering the quality of food and portion sizes — definitely value for money. Everything felt clean, well-maintained, and organized, with food arriving quickly and piping hot. Whether you’re visiting Bangkok or live here, Somboon is a solid choice for Thai seafood that never disappoints. Will definitely return!

We were too full after such a hearty meal,we decided to walk to the nearest night market instead of taking a cab back to our hotel! ordering the fish and crab definitely a no-brainer! wish we still got space to explore other dishes but that will wait for another time. be back soon! side story for you: while walking towards the night market, a waitress from the resto chase up to us, carrying a bag which she thought we left by accident. we commend her for the effort she did. but the rightful owner might be from other group that went out of the resto with us. so we pointed to her the direction where the group went. hope the owner got the bag.

Nice seafood place. The staff is very kind and service is fast. Grilled calamari was tasty but the other one (pls see front plate on the photo) with egg was not that much delicious. Anyway maybe l ordered something wrong :-)
