The Best New Ice-Cream Sandwiches in NYC

"Slabs of banana-walnut croissant bread pudding are thinly sliced and crisped to form a sturdy shell that holds rich chocolate soft serve for a limited special launching in August, turning croissant into an inventive ice-cream sandwich." - Charlotte Druckman

TLDR: Bayside gets another solid baked goods purveyor. The tahini croissant and presently the Basque cheesecake are bonkers. I'd heard about Somedays Bakery for awhile but never got around to it until they opened in Bayside. There's already French and Martha's but a good addition is always welcome. It's small inside but very clean and nice, reminds you of French Workshop but smaller. Pastry-wise, I liked what I've tried here so far. The pistachio Basque burnt cheesecake ATM is my favorite. The top is so delicate but the middle is incredibly creamy - as it should be. Most recently also tried the chocolate tahini croissant, the cookies and all were very good. Nice to be able to switch up from the usual French/Martha's combos. They do have some savory items that I'd like to try one day if I'm around during lunch time.

Nice cafe style bakery, offering pastries, cookies, sandwiches and coffee. Opens late! Closes at 9pm most days. The dessert selection is huge and a lot of variety, think Peach Tahini patry, Black Sesame croissant, the Beast cake (like eight layers of chocolate goodness), and lox sandwiches, ie. Coffee, cortado, espresso too. Small dining area in the back and outdoor seating available under the covered facade.

The croissants are the star of the show, but selection is outstanding and everything's delicious: Savory or sweet, dense or fluffy, there's something for everyone. If you're not in the mood for sweet, the croissant hot dog is a clear winner and the buffalo chicken croissandwich is a delicious and novel take on a classic. Plenty of seating is available inside and outside.

Staff is super friendly here, awesome vibes, only con is that they don’t have a super wide selection of items. Based off the food we got there should be more! I recommend the spinach ricotta pastry, it was delicious!

What a nice bakery we stumbled upon one evening looking for something sweet nearby. We got the beast chocolate cake to share between myself, my husband and son because the slice was massive, and it was so different and incredible! The coffee was excellent as well! We will be coming here more often to try other things! Service was also friendly! My only single complaint was there weren't drinks available for kids not even a soda so hopefully they add some to their menu for next time Update 11/20/25 The beast slices are no longer that monstrous size 😔 but still delicious just smaller piece for a lesser price

Super clean and nice place. The employees were extremely nice and let me and my friend to let me know if we have any questions about any of the menu items. They also checked up on us to make sure everything was great even though they were busy closing up for the day. I got the hibiscus iced tea and it was really strong which was great, and the black sesame tahini croissant was not too sweet and perfectly flaky! Overall, great workers and great pastry (that they bake in house too). Would definitely visit again!

Google
Best bakery and coffee that I’ve had in NY. The aesthetic is incredible and the service is so friendly. My go-to spot, the pastries are delicious and they have fun new options too. A true Queen’s gem, a must

Went opening weekend for breakfast and all the workers were very welcoming and helpful with helping us decide what to get from the many options they had. I got the Elote Danish and Black Sesame Tahini Croissant with a Cortado—Delicious and will be back for more items. There are a couple of tables inside which is very spacious and nice. There are also tables outside with a nice turf grass area which is perfect for kids to get their energy out and doggies too. Their evening savory items sound delicious and will come again because I hear their ice cream is amazing too.
