I had a mixed but overall pleasant experience at Somedays Bakery in Bayside.
The Black Sesame Tahini Pain Au Chocolat really stood out to me. There’s only a small amount of chocolate inside, so it doesn’t overpower the pastry, and the black sesame and tahini flavors come through beautifully. Tahini, made from ground sesame seeds, adds a rich, slightly nutty depth. The pastry wasn’t overly sweet and had a very unique, well-balanced flavor that I truly enjoyed.
The Honeynut Cheesecake Danish, however, was a bit too sweet for my personal taste. The chocolate flavor was quite strong, so the cheesecake and honeynut notes were harder for me to notice. It may still be enjoyable for those who prefer sweeter desserts, just not my preference.
Overall, Somedays Bakery offers some very creative and high-quality pastries. I would definitely come back for the black sesame item and to try more of their other flavors.
