Somethin’ on Myrtle

I could not be more disappointed in this restaurant tonight. I drove an hour and 15 minutes to this restaurant and this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. When you first come into this establishment, it’s nice look. We wanted to order. May I add how dirty the menus were but we stayed and tried to order. Let’s start with the appetizers out of 10 appetizers that they had on the menu. They only had three available I mean no oxtails empanadas flatbread. So we ended up ordering the Garlic butter, shrimp it came out with no butter or garlic on them and the shrimp was cold. Let’s start with the main menu. They had a Friday special on the menu that was spaghetti and fried fish so I tried to order that that was also unavailable so my fiancé ordered maple fried chicken and it was about $25. It came out with two pieces of chicken, A leg and a thigh that was split in two piecesI will display the pictures he also ordered garlic, mashed potatoes. It came out just plain mashed potatoes, no butter,no garlic, water, watery, and cold. I ordered plain wings they fried them very hard and I was unable to eat them. nowhere on their menu that said everything was à la cart so for every item you had to pay for it. It was false Advertisement speaking of false advertisement when you look up their menu online it’s a whole different menu . What you think you’re coming to eat is not what they have prepared. The food was lousy. The tables are dusty food in the seats. The plates were cracked and chip. This was a date for the books. I will never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please look at reviews before you go to these restaurants because if I had did my homework, I would have seen the reviews from this week and last week explaining the same experience I had there tonight Please do not patronize this restaurant until they can get their stuff together like I was told from someone in the restaurant that they just opened back up they should’ve stayed closed. This chicken was $25 they need to be ashamed of themselves. This whole bill came up to $97 the worst $97 dollars I have ever spent.

We arrived with high hopes having eaten here last year. We promptly tried to order and each time were told that the item was not available. No lamb chops, no empanadas, no ox tail, no Friday Special on a Friday night, no maple glazed chicken! We finally ordered and after waiting for 30 minutes our server brought out a burnt chicken flatbread that was absolutely inedible. The burnt look and burnt smell should have been enough for the server to not even bring it out - but he did! We promptly sent it back and waited for our main meal. No apologies from the server. No checking for drink refresh. After asking, we were provided with plastic grade school cafeteria utensil packages. After being assured that our food was coming, we gave up at the 1 hour and 15 minute mark. At one point we saw the server leave and run to a nearby store!!!! The best thing about this place was the old school R&B music - if we could have eaten that we would have been happy. We are now at another local spot- dining, drinking, vibing, and satisfied! We always support black owned, but please do better! We live locally, dine out frequently, eat well and tip better. We are the customers you should be coveting, not disrespecting with such an abysmal experience.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!! You are getting COSTCO BOXED FOOD HEATED IN A OVEN!!!!!! The table were dirty and they put a white piece of paper over it to cover up the fact that it was dirty n sticky The bathroom was nasty with poop in the toilet They serve plastic except glass plates, no silverware or class cups you get Plastic cups and a cheap dollar store plastic fork with no cutting utensil n one piece of very thin cheap napkin I had to ask for extra the server comes up and says: yeah what do you want? We ordered , and red snapper and lamb my partners food came out a full 18 minutes before my food was served and the guy that served the food had long dirty fingernails I asked for silverware The waiter said : all we give out is plastic forks! The wings and the lamb was bought at Costco I know because I buy there it’s the same And it’s out of a box there is nothing exclusive about they’re cooking they are heating up Costco‘s box food and putting it on a glass plate with a plastic fork They are overwhelmingly overpriced $200 for this!!!! they are charging tavern on the green prices for less than McDonald’s food, and service i want to support but People we gotta do better!!!!!!

It would've been nice if we were actually able to eat here. Google and Instagram stated they opened at 2pm on Saturdays. My two elderly parents made it there after 2pm only to find them closed. When inquired about the time, they were told by staff that they changed their opening time to 4pm two weeks ago. A little disappointing, but they were cool with waiting. After 4pm, my parents returned again only to find the door locked and yet again, denied entry into the restuarant. The only explanation they received was "You cant sit down because we are doing 'something'. What kind of business are you running? If you were closed for the day, a sign or update on social media would be the least you could do. And the dismissiveness of the staff was off putting. We will not be returning. And due to the other reviews, this was a blessing in disguise. Simply put, do better.

The food was decent, They didn't have shrimp so, I ordered the lobster with broccoli and rice and the lamb chops plate. The rum punch was worth the money. I had little buzz. They do have happy hour just incase you are wondering. The waitress was very pleasant and polite.

Went as a party of 5 for dinner, had a reservation, but it was not needed. The restaurant is quite small but is visually appealing due to the artwork on the wall and associated decor. The could definitely use some new booth seating and to figure out the table cloths, as the tables were just covered in white paper. The food... they were out of the half-chicken, but made a good substitution with the 'satay' chicken. The snapper wasn't quite the escovitch I was expecting and somewhat salty, but came with a nice sauce to balance it out. The lobster and broccoli tasted heavily of sesame oil, really killing the dish which was already quite small in portion size to begin with. Best dish was the oxtail lo mein! The oxtail dumplings were pretty tasty Service was decent. They frequently come to fill our water. The younger men there didn't seem too enthusiastic with our table (other than water), but definitely more engaged with the table of young women that came in--just an observation. The check...was fine until I noted a 20% fee which I had to clarify was actually gratuity. No where on the menu did it state that there was a mandatory 20 percent. This equated to an additional 60 dollars on our bill for service that was just adequate. However, we paid and were on our way. Would I return, probably not, but definitely not the worst experience. I would be open to trying some other things on the menu, but probably wouldn't go out of my way.

I went here last year with my girlfriend and the food/vibe was amazing! No complaints but…unfortunately I came in for dinner and had a terrible dining experience. I was upset the menu was so limited and when I got my crab & spinach dip it was nothing but watery cheese and spinach. It wasn’t edible and even the server told the cook it was watery. I kid you not you would’ve thought I ordered a bowl of cereal with spinach in it. I ordered my main dish which was better than the spinach dip. Other than that the music was great and we had a good waiter.

The atmosphere was inviting, the music was great, and our server, Dime, was excellent—patient, friendly, and accommodating. However, the food was overly salty, especially the garlic butter shrimp and mashed potatoes. The timing of the dishes was also uncoordinated, with starters and mains brought out together. The snapper was well-prepared, but the jerk chicken lacked authentic flavor and tasted more like barbecue. With better seasoning balance less salt and improved timing, the overall experience would be much stronger.

Stumbled upon this place after being in the area during a night out. Was interested on eating here because of the Asian Caribbean fusion concept that was going on and because it said it was open late on maps. I did go around 11pm and noticed it was packed but the DJ was bumping the chunes while people were eating. I was quickly met with great service and they were to try to seat us. But we learned that the kitchen was closed and we were really hungry after being at an event that ran for 4 hours. The manager came right over to us right away and offered to talk to the kitchen to allow us to be able to order appetizers. She sat us in a table promptly and serviced us with drinks. Food did come out fairly quickly. We ordered the oxtail dumplings which was by far the best choice. The crust on the dumpling itself was perfect. Flaky and crispy. The meat inside was also a good portion. Not to mention that the oxtail itself was pretty tasty and tender. I also had the jerk chicken skewers that was packed with flavor. Loved that it had a grilled taste to it. There was also a nice vinaigrette medley served on the side of the appetizers. If it wasn't for the manager, we would've been cold and grumpy looking for something to eat. She was cool too! I could tell the night had ended because she was turnt up and dancing and I wanted to join in but keep eating at the same time haha. Love to be supported a fellow black woman business. Please support! It is a breath of fresh air to experience service like that and if that's the case here...I will be back when I'm in the area.

The Pros & Cons are the following: Pros *Drinks are good *Appetizers were good *Polite staff Cons *Portion sizes for drinks & food- We tried their mussels & salmon & lobster bites. The mussels were about 10 for $22. I've never seen such a small bowl. The box of mussels at the supermarket has more. They used the same small square bowl for the salmon & lobster bites as well, but that was $24. The drinks came in a 4oz coupe cocktail glasses & mine was $20 & the other $23, for four ounces is crazy. Even if you don't know the ounces, looking at it you can tell it's not 8oz. *Small-with having a small restaurant, when people are waiting they are looking right at you & there's limited seats while waiting. If "Somethin' on Myrtle" were to reconsider the portion sizes, it's a restaurant I wouldn't mind going to again, but until then, I just can't spend $20 on a 4oz drink.

Well... prior to my lovely convo with the manager, Rel, this very quaint establishment would have received one star. For starters, please be sure to make a reservation prior to visiting. We were a walk in and the wait time was long (we may have waited almost 30-40 mins)On the day of our visit, apparently the kitchen was slow so that contributed to the long wait time to be seated. Eventually we were seated at a two table arrangement and they added a third chair (it was 3 of us). Our server, Kwasi, although nice tried to accommodate us but the seating arrangement was not that because of how small the table and space was. We ordered entrees, drinks, and hookah. Each one took some time to arrive. In between that time, I was able to speak to the manager Rel about our seating and he so kindly allowed us to connect a vacant two seater table (which allegedly was reserved) to our table to make it a 4 seater and ultimately more comfortable which added to 3 start to the one star. On to the food.... No complaints here! The food was delicious; clearly made to order, hot, and well seasoned. There was little to no talking at our table once the food arrived. Drinks: we ordered the Holy Grail and Ryu Dragon. Both good. Hookah: Many mint flavors but my friends said the one they had was good. (They could not remember the name) Overall nice place, good food, and vibes (they had a live DJ). The space is just very small.

Meh...was in the area and decided to check out this resturant. The space is small with cute decor on the walls and celing. We were seated right away and the dj was pumping for a sunday night (a little to loud for me, but other patrons enjoyed). The music was a mix so I apperciated that. Service was cool, the bartender was very slow, we had to ask for our drinks mutiple times. The menu had variety however a little over priced in my opinion. 35 dollars for basil fried rice?? We ordered the grilled shrimp with 2 sides and the whiting with 2 sides..only the fish came out hot. Our food was good but nothing wow about it...I would return for brunch to get it another try

Their drinks are on point, and the happy hour prices make it even better. Plus, they've got hookah for just $25, which is a steal. The real surprise? It's not even packed! 03/26/23: Black-owned business has been on my list and finally able to dine. Asian Fusion flair in Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn. It is on the smaller intimate size. Cute decor. While dining the 90s R&B had us thinking we are the next American Idol. Definitely worth checking out. Holy Grail: D'usse and Passionfruit and other items totally delicious S.O.M punch: Wray showed up with not only his nephew but him cousin. Curry Goats Bao Bun: delicious and flavorful Oxtail dumpling: IG post which grabbed my attention. Tender, flavorful and did not disappoint. Shrimp Dumpling: equally tasty, also gave a Roti vibe Red Snapper: well seasoned and unlike other places flavor seeped into the meat not just the top. The accompanying fried rice very Shelly you could count each grain not clumpy as other places. Grill Lamb: what flavors , tender and mouth watering. All in all service , food, vibes, I will be a repeat customer. The place is cute, good music ! Small tho So if you want a group setting it's can't be huge. I'm here with 9 girls and we took most of the side ! Food was good also

We come here very often. Tonight we came for the Tank Vs Roach fight ordered two bottles of Don Julio Reposado, 2 meals & hookah (which was $50 with a $30 refill). After the fight was over we ordered another round of shots & wanted to get another hookah, first we were told they didn't have any flavors, someone else told us the price went up to $60, 5 minutes later we were told it was $70 . We then bought it to someone else who told us "the hookah girl could charge us whatever she wants because it's her hookah". I feel like that's completely unacceptable and unfair to change the price every 5-10 minutes just because of....whatever reason they feel. I'm disappointed in this spot especially as a local who always supports.

Black owned Asian Caribbean all the food was delicious came out steaming hot & fresh , service was great, decorated nice loved the art by the bar ...clean But the place is very small so make sure you make a reservation. Also for the younger crowd live DJ and Hookah

The food was amazing and definitely worth the wait. The service was slow but they make up for it in the quality of the food and drinks. Our server was very friendly and patient. The dj on a Saturday night did a great job mixing and made it a fun atmosphere. My primary critique is that I wish the drinks came in larger glasses, 3 sips and I was done. Thankfully our waiter was empathetic and compd me a rum punch. I'd definitely return for the food.

The brunch vibe was Lit!!!! Me and a friend got there a bit later (around 9pm) for a drink and some hookah and honestly the ambiance was everything. They had live DJ play Afro beats reggae and soca. The drink was served right ( if you don't like a heavy hand sorry we can't be friends) and the hookah King Kwasi hooked it up with a really bomb flags called love 69 and it lasted over an hour. I truly wish we came sooner. Will def comeback again for the food

We got invited because this was a friend opening up a new restaurant and we wanted to give it a try. Very glad we did the food was delicious and the drinks is going to put you on your butt so be careful lol. We had the calamari and it was so crispy and tender and delicious mouth watering just thinking about it lol. The ambiance was so nice it's an Asian fusion restaurant and the theme was perfect for the name of the restaurant I highly suggest you try them out and see for yourself you won't be disappointed. The service was amazing. Food came out in timely manner Thanks friends for having us we enjoyed your restaurant we will be back!!!!!!

Visited Brooklyn this past weekend and decided to stop by Somethin' on Myrtle with a gf for dinner and drinks. This was a cute & quaint restaurant boutique in the midst of some other popular eateries on Myrtle Ave. They have a live DJ (IG: @djjeffhaze) that provided great music to vibe too. And they also offer Hookah as well. Somethin' on Myrtle is an asian fusion restaurant that provides everything from vibes to libations. For our appetizers, we ordered the catfish & lobster bites. The server explained that they were out of lobster but offered us salmon & shrimp bites. We received the salmon but the shrimp was missing lol. The salmon wasn't overly seasoned, it was fresh & tasty and it was served with 3 different house sauces (soy/sesame sauce, creamy scotch bonnet sauce and sriracha aioli sauce). We also ordered the Maryland style crab cakes in which we had to return because they were cold. When we received the second batch, the crab cakes were still cold. Feels like the crab cakes are made in advanced and sat prior to being served. We told the server and we were told that we would get complimentary drinks but I don't believe that happened. I ordered that Holy Grail drink which was $20. This drink was delicious as it contained the following: D'usse Cognac, Passion fruit liqueur, passion fruit Puree, Cointreau, Fresh Lemon Juice, Fee Foam. I enjoyed this drink as I love passion fruit and the taste of lemon juice complimented this drink well. My gf ordered the Blueprint drink which was $18. She thoroughly enjoyed her drink as well as it contained Bulliet Bourbon Whiskey, Fresh Lemon Juice, Agove, and Muddled Blueberries. We received a complimentary Side Car drink. Besides the drinks, I think our entrees stole the show and made up for the hiccups regarding the lackluster appetizer crab cakes. My gf suggested that oxtail. I ordered oxtail with vegetable fried rice. And she ordered the oxtail with lo mein. I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. I wasn't able to finish it but it tasted even better the next day. I asked for a side of extra oxtail gravy and I'm so glad I did that! Our server was very pleasant and so was the owner. A part from them not have certain things on the menu & cold appetizers, I will definitely return mainly for the oxtail. The oxtail was tender, well seasoned and had a little kick. They also provided a nice portion of oxtail as well. Overall, I'll give them an 8 out of 10. Reservations are highly recommended.

I got the grilled salmon fillet this was sooooooo good! Definitely a 10/10 with that as well as the Notorious drink I would go back for just that honestly. I also had the Tokyo drift not my favorite by itself but our waitress was super sweet and brought me some orange juice and it was much better. The service was a little hectic but I give them grace because it's a small restaurant like I wasn't expecting it to be that small but still a cute spot very warm and welcoming environment and the dj was good too! Great spot for a girls night out or an intimate date night.

Wanted to try this spot for happy hour it was mid at best. Very small spot I love the decor on the ceiling and flowers. It was definitely slow for a Thursday evening just me and one other couple all night. I tried the calamari very good well seasoned nice crispy coating... i enjoyed the variety of flavor sauces it came accompanied by they all were good. I ordered oxtail dumplings which was on the menu but when it came out it was oxtail spring told the waiter insisted that it was dumplings but shaped different I begged to differ. For the price it was I want pleased with it barely any oxtail or flavor inside just spring roll coating. We also tried the plain wings also not that great the wings barely had any meat on them and were over cooked. The lemon drop was made well and French martini could've used more raspberry spritz my friend enjoyed the upside down pineapple cake She was pleased. Service was slightly alil slow. The gentleman in there was nice and friendly. Happy hour pricing was decent.

I met with the girlies at Somethin On Myrtle last night for Happy Hour. This eatery recently just opened in place of one that I formerly adored, so I won't compare the two. SOM is cute and very simply decorated. Frilly, pink umbrellas dot the ceiling for an Asian effect. Walls are painted a soft green and the seating is comfortable. The Happy Hour menu is truly limited. A few cocktails, flavored wings and fried calamari. I chose the scotch bonnet flavored wings which were baked crispy and delicious. My Margarita was weak. A shot of tequila on the side was absolutely necessary. My homegirl made mention to the owner that the Happy Hour menu seemed short. He was kind enough to have an appetizer of lobster and catfish bites sent to our table at Happy Hour prices. It was a bit heavy on the batter-too fishy in flavor. We appreciated the gesture but "no." I ordered oxtail eggrolls off the main menu after I caught a glimpse of them arriving at the table next to ours. Sooo good. Crispy outside, tender saucy meat inside. I would try these again. I sampled my friend's shrimp and lobster bites-also a main menu item and tasty. Each appetizer comes with different types of dipping sauce. None left any great impression. The music was kind of slow and blah. We asked a server if she could turn up the tempo and she did so, obligingly. Our server, Ronin was so cool. Overall, Somethin On Myrtle was a decent experience. I'm told that there's a karaoke night and two people in our group ordered main courses that looked really good. I'll go back to try more main menu items and cocktails with a bit more buzz.

Ambiance; Very cute hangout spot with really comfortable outside seating. But the music is loud so don't expect to have a conversation that doesn't involve a bit of screaming and lip reading. I would have given a 5 if it wasn't for the loud music. Service: Great staff. Very polite but three things we offered were sold out and it was pretty early in the night. That was disappointing. Food: Fortunately, the food we did order-- lamb chops, the snapper, and crab cakes -- EXCELLENT!! 10/10. The rice was flavorful and was a nice balance for the snapper, which came with multiple sauces. It was fried to perfection.

Everything about this place should be rated wi the 5 stars. Fell into Somethin on Myrtle and we were not disappointed. We expected just to order drinks but we heard word that their Mac and cheese was great and as southerners we had to find out. Nothing disappointed and everything was better than expected. We caught happy hour and had lemon drops on a nice summer day. The decor and ambiance is beautiful and low key. Shout out to passing this beautiful place days later to meet the owner Ty who was cool and we told him about our experience. Keep this place moving forward and support. You will not be disappointed.

More like a 3 and half stars. Came a few days ago with my girls for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant is small and pretty packed. The menu consisted of a twist on Asian food with Caribbean flavors and dishes, such as curry goat and oxtail. We didn't order any appetizers, so I can't provide any info on that. I ordered the lo mein with shrimp which was good, but didn't look like what I envisioned when I think of lo mein noodles. This was more of angel hair pasta with veggies and shrimp on the side. The ginger was a tad bit aggressive as that was all I could taste. My friend had the oxtail and enjoyed them. The drinks were strong and packed a punch. The service was very slow as we noticed only one waitress was taking the orders. She was very friendly and efficient considering that it was only her. They have hookah for purchase as well. I would go back for cocktails and maybe try something else on the menu. It was good, not great.

Poor service because the wait time was so long and they didn't tell the customer that they were short staff or explain the long wait and they're no apologizes given . Once I informed staff that my shrimp eggroll was not cooked, nothing was done about it

Really wanted to like this new spot just a couple of blocks from home. Staff was welcoming and uber-friendly -- service was a bit slow but mostly felt like that was more of a desired European "take your time and relax" approach than pure neglect. Check did take a long while to come but they brought us free tequila shots, so effort is there. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Billed as Asian fusion and I can see some Asian and Caribbean influences that mostly just run together in a weird melange. If there was a scrap of lobster in the lobster and collard green spring rolls, we didn't find or taste it. The panko crusted salmon skewers came with three sauces -- a sweet and sour, a honey drizzle, then a third creamy dipping sauce which utterly clashed with the others. The final thing we tried was the oxtail flatbread which was pretty good--nice jicama and carrot slaw on top--though this again came with an off-putting dipping sauce. I wanted to go higher and wanted to believe I'd give it another shot, but to top it off everything was also so salty, I felt thirsty and not great for hours after the meal. Prices for what we ordered were reasonable, but there were some expensive $40+ bangers on there. Man I would have been pissed if I ordered at that price point!

The service is baddddd. After 1 hr+, we still didn't get our food. The place wasn't full and we were a party of 3. We ordered snapper and lamb chops, neither of which should have taken this long. Our waiter Ronan was great though. If it weren't for him we would have left. Do not recommend and will never go back. First impressions are everything.

Probably one of the worst experiences while dining I have experienced. Went with a group of friends for brunch. All our foods came out at different times. One of them didn't even get her food after we all had finished eating she was told " the chef is almost done with it " unacceptable. We ordered a few side dishes to eat with our meal the side dishes came out after we all had finished eating. Super confusing. Ordered some juice... still waiting for it never got it. Lastly the Mac and cheese and fried fish was very good for appetizers. But the shrimp and grits ? The grits felt like gelatin was added to it and our food was cold.

I came on a Sunday for a birthday brunch. I must say they were super relaxed about the party showing up at different times. I appreciate that. Most places won't seat the table until everyone is there. There was only 1 waitress working for a few hours so she was super busy. There was a DJ there so the music was great all night. I finally ordered the steak and eggs, I didn't realize it came with grits but it was all delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection, the gravy was the star. My appetizer of Asian Bbq wings came about 20 minutes after my meal. I was expecting sweet and Smokey but it was more just Smokey BbQ flavored. But no worries, my husband ate it for lunch the next day. I did taste my sister's mussels. They were amazing. I would go back just to order them again. I also tasted her crab stuffed shrimp with grits, absolutely delicious. I few people in the party had to wait for items due to the staff going to the supermarket a few times throughout the night. But that didn't ruin the night. The birthday girl enjoyed herself and I was full. I will definitely visit again.

We really enjoyed our food. They are small so make a reservation. The French drink with sparkling wine was tasty!

No...HELL no. Came here for brunch and they literally had no champagne but tried to charge us for bottomless mimosas. A guy comes in with a cart of bottles of champagne on a cart 30 mins after we had been sitting. Our meal came and we still hadn't even gotten water. Then after we finished eating, she comes with a carafe of a mimosa and says our 90 mins starts now...and the steak was mediocre as hell. I should've known better.

What a pleasant surprise!!! 5 stats indeed! Food amazing, Drinks are great! Lots of awesome options. This is deff a date night, special evening dishes up to $45 per plate and drinks $18+ but worth it. Make this an evening for yourself! DONT miss!!! Thanks for coming to our area!!!

The staff was wonderful! Friendly and professional. The chef even served us and told us a little about himself. The entire establishment was clean and smelled great. The food was creative and delicious. I'll be returning to try some additional menu options. Only thing I will say is it's a limited menu. But I guess it makes it easier to choose!

The place is super small; however it's a cute set up. The food was okay. No complaints but also nothing to write home about. The service was not that great. The server was all over the place. Playing server, host, busboy, bartender, and owner according to him. The man couldn't super ate the bills, then couldn't use separate cards. When I got him STARVING I decided to calculate the bill. I was over charged $25. I'm pissed. We paid a total of $170 for 1 appetizer and two entrees. He didn't even bring water to the table. I will mot be returning under any circumstances.

The food and ambiance was very good. We took our food to go but stood for the drinks. The prince was hitting and was a very tasty drink. We ordered at least 4 of them and was feeling nice. My husband loved the scotch bonnet wings and said they weren't overly spicy. Music was on point with afrobeats and hip hop sounds. Would definitely come back to dine and bring some friends along. Staff was very friendly and owners stated they will be doing a grand opening soon. Definitely will be back soon to try some actual food instead of just little bites.

I'm a bit conflicted. The bartender was slow to make my drink, even though the place was pretty empty. She was FaceTiming her friend and even left at one point to pick up a couple snacks from the store next-door. I let her know I only had 30 minutes and asked if ordering the wings was realistic. She assured me it would be, but I think she may have forgotten to put them in? I waited 50 minutes. My drink wasn't good. When my wings got there, I had to ask them to package them to go and pay immediately as I was now late. I was pretty confident I would never return but the wings were actually amazing?

I went to this spot over the weekend after an event with a friend. I saw it had good reviews on Google; it was Black-owned and had a menu that looked good. I was sold. FOOD For food, we keep it simple with just apps. We ordered shrimp dumplings, Szechuan salmon skewers and Salmon flatbread. I also got a virgin Mohito. The food itself was really good. As a pescatarian who was also very hungry at the time, I thought it was good. The shrimp dumplings were my favorite. I've never had fried salmon before, so that was an interesting treat, but when paired with the sauce, it was great. Overall we really enjoyed the food. For the entrees, I do wish they had a bit more options. The virgin mojito was just okay. SPACE/AMBIANCE The space itself was quaint and small. Honestly, a cool spot to do a small event. Aside from the workers in the restaurant, we were the only ones there which was honestly fine as that meant good music, not being elbow-to-elbow with anyone, and really being able to hear our own voices SERVICE I noticed a few people have had vast experiences with the service. Our server was great (I think her name was Eveie! Is so, Thanks, Eveie!). Again, we were the only ones there. but still service was attentive. Our server was overall just genuine and communicated well. It was great. EXTRAS When we asked for the bill, a service charge was added. Let me clarify, a 18% service charge was added. And before you ask, NO this was not an auto gratuity charged. I asked the server about it, and she shared that it was not gratuity or a tip and that it goes to the restaurant as she wouldn't receive a penny of it. We were rightfully annoyed--not at the server--but at the charge. That's not a common practice and should have been made clear. I understand that during the early part of the pandemic, there was a 'covid-related' charge, but it was not even close to 18%. We left the young lady serving us about a 20% tip. But based on the 'extra' surprise, I'm good. Likely won't be returning.

Amazing service, amazing food. The atmosphere is great as well. The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming. I had the habanero wings, jerk chicken satay, and oxtail dumplings and I couldn't get enough. Omg I can't wait to come back and the drinks were strong and spot on. I wish I took a photo of my food but I was too busy stuffing my face lol. I will be Back

This place is a cool vibrant spot for a date night , ladies night type of night ... the drinks are A1 I would recommend the holy grail , by far my favorite .......Dime was my waitress , she was coool vibrant, prettty and recommend errrythang that was good ..... The calamari is so good it has onions rings and fried pickles with three sauces that were goood ....... The dj playing live music.. hip hop / r&b vibes .....if you thinking about coming just come!!! lol

The food was delicious, the ambiance and service were great. The crab stuffed shrimp with grits was so yummy.

I went to this restaurant on a Friday night recently and I was definitely disappointed. On their Instagram, they advertise Happy Hour as Monday-Friday 4pm-7pm. However, our male server said that was not the case. When we told him that was false advertising, he went over and got the female server... she was very nice and offered to give us the Happy Hour prices on our drinks. FOOD: We all ordered wings. Mine was supposed to have lemon pepper on them, but had no seasoning on them and were burnt to a crisp. They also have very small miniature wings. My friends had buffalo wings that came out smelling like vinegar. All of our wings were remade because they don't remove items off of the check if you're dissatisfied. My friend's wings were remade with sweet and sour sauce, mine came back out burnt again so I declined and sent them back. The server was only able to offer an explanation that the chef was not there (so I wondered who was actually making our food). The owner came over... very polite and offered an apology. DECOR: The restaurant is very beautiful... I visited when it was previously a different restaurant and owner and it definitely looks a lot better. The Asian inspiration is definitely doting the walls and ceiling and you can tell the decor was a priority. The brass circled mirrors were a very nice touch. The bar looked fully stocked and had comfortable bar seating. The two TV's on the wall seem out of place and don't match the aesthetic of the restaurant. They had a DJ... which was really good but the music was too loud for such a small establishment. If you're sitting towards the front, you can barely hear the person sitting across from you. The restaurant also offers hookah and the plus side is that the restaurant is well ventilated so you're not overwhelmed by the smoke or smell. The age group also varied... they were very young people hanging out at the bar smoking hookah, but more mature adults dining at the tables. They also add a service charge to your bill which is disguised under that name because it is really the gratuity. I would try to give this place another chance because it is black owned and the bar was nice. I would trying coming to brunch instead... because I don't think it's possible to mess up a waffle, but who knows!

The food here was fire The staff memebers were mad chill and helpful and they even facilitated to make my BDay a nice intimate vibe. Couldn't have asked for a better night.

Food is so fire. Let's talk about the oxtail wontons. Mad gooooddddd. Flatbread so good. The wings. Every flavor. Sweet and sour is my favorite. But the staff was friendly. They gave out free shots as well. Music was lit that I came back for brunch and when I say those chicken and wafflessssss haddddd meeeeee sick (in a good way) lol and the ambiance is so stinking cute. Brooklyn's new Asian bistro did not disappoint.

For us the food was 10/10 for Brunchhhh! the unlimited mimosa was a little slow to come out but the food made up for it! theres a 2 hr dining limit so be on team!

The lobster fried rice was good. The service was good. We received our food in a reasonable amount of time. The DJ played good music after I asked him to play 90s R&B and Hip Hop. It's very small in there. The drinks were potent. The bathroom is right next to tables and someone must have had an upset stomach because P-U it stunk up the immediate surrounding area for a time.

The atmosphere was nice, good music but food was nothing to write home about. First of all it took FOOOORRREVERRR to come out after the order was placed. And when I received my food which was fried shrimp and lo mein. Lo mein tasted weird I can't describe the taste and the shrimp tasted like it came out the freezer. I will not return not worth the money.

The food was yummy!!! Oxtail dumplings (Just enough spice), Calamari (Not breast, just crispy enough), Sweet and Sour wings (The chef understood the assignment). I definitely will be returning. The service was prompt and the ambience beautiful. Music played perfectly with the atmosphere.

We went to SomethinonMyrtlel Asian Caribbean Fusion restaurant last night and I see why everybody was rating it a 6/10. On Tiktok. The spot is small but the decor was cute. The appetizers were good, I had oxtail dumplings and my hubby had jerk chicken skewers, although he asked for wings. He just kept them skewers. The entrees weren't hot and my seafood pasta was salty. People were waiting at the door so it felt like they rushing us and people who were already seated to leave. For a new restaurant they need to do better. I don't plan on returning.

went there on a Friday night. Music was way too loud for such a small place. It took 90 minutes for my food to come out. The only thing the hostesses were doing was giving excuses instead of better service as a Black's Home Restaurant they should do much better go there at your own risk, but I would never patronize that place ever again.
