"One of the best things about vacation—besides not being obligated to check your email—is packing a picnic for the day’s adventures, and Something Natural will hook you up with superior provisions. Freshly baked bread, big sandwiches with roasted meats, and fancy sodas make this counter-service sandwich shop a must-stop for a casual lunch, either for takeout or at the restaurant’s picnic tables. The curry chicken salad sandwich is excellent, but if that’s not your jam, there’s a sprouts, vegetable, and hummus sandwich and even a PB&J. " - tanya edwards

"Nantucket is known for Portuguese bread, this sourdough-y type bread...they have an actual sandwich shop on the island called Something Natural. I have dreams about this bread. I could eat the whole loaf."

I’ve only been here three days, but this was the best deal going on the island. The large sandwiches are enough for two people. Six of us ate here and all were more than satisfied. I got a BLT on French bread. Fantastic. My wife got whatever has sprouts and hummus and loved it (particularly liked the chunks of chickpeas in the hummus). The setting is beautiful. It was odd there was no sign out front, so being with a seasoned island visitor was key. But the place was pretty busy, even in late April, so somehow people know where it is. If you like fresh sandwiches, this is your place. (By the way, there’s an odd feature when using the electronic kiosk ordering system that it *looks* like you’re paying extra for particular add-ons when ordering, but in the end, if it’s on the menu, it came off the price. They should probably fix that because it looked like an up sell as we were ordering but actually wasn’t.) If we’re ever back on the island, will definitely return here.

Google
It is one of the best sandwiches places on the island. Their salads are also huge and delicious. Cookies are really tasty. I love that you can order half a sandwich (they are pretty big). The green outdoor space is peaceful. Great for families with little kids. Definitely place to visit if you are sandwich lover.

Google
Delicious and big sandwiches and beautiful setting outdoors to eat. Hint...share one sandwich for 2 or lunch 2 days in a row. Def don't miss this. PS...the chocolate chip cookies were incredible.

Missy Van Horn

Google
Best egg salad sandwich ever! The bread was insanely perfect as well (oatmeal). Pretty sure the mayonnaise is homemade and the tomatoes were from their garden. A gem of a find on Nantucket. 🩷

Thomas

Google
Delicious, huge sandwiches. Loved the curried chicken salad on french bread. Nice lawn to enjoy the food on, so bring a blanket for a picnic! Plenty of parking too.

Derek Rodenbeck

Google
A lovely place to relax on a summer day, get lunch, and enjoy just being. The food is fantastic and they give you extremely large portions. So you could easily split a sandwich— and I eat a lot! If you are looking for a place to get food and just enjoy yourself with people you care about. This is the place you have been looking for. Highly recommend it.

Jerry Callen

Google
Delicious, generous sandwiches - a half is more than I can eat! Very good sourdough bread. The egg salad is excellent, though not always available. This is an ideal lunch stop if you are biking around Nantucket.

Google
A shame what happened to this place. Used to be one of my favorite spots on the island, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll return. I get you have to charge a bit more because of inflation, but their prices were disrespectful gouging. $12 for a half a sandwich is absurd, especially given its size. I would understand if it was $12 but the portions remained large. They increased their prices and drastically reduced prices. Lovely place to eat but yikes. Do better.

Yelp
Came by with my dog for a sandwich and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my sandwich. I had the Terry Terrific. I ordered a $8.25/half sandwich and had it cut in half. What's crazy is the half sandwich is the size of a normal sandwich. A full sandwich is really large. The service was good. The staff was nice. It's easy to order online or at the outdoor window. There is only outdoor seating on a beautiful lawn. Overall a fantastic place for lunch. It's worth the visit!

Joel N.

Yelp
Can't wait to go back here and try their sandwiches. Their cookies are amazing we had the chocolate chip ones which were so soft, sweet and delicious! Great customer service I was offered samples to try both the cookies they had today. Sad they are closing on Monday for the season till spring I wish I found out about them sooner. There is an excellent picnic area where you can eat and relax outside. One of the best sandwich spots on the island. The food was fresh and filling.

Yelp
Flavors - 4/5 Texture - 4/5 Presentation - 3/5 Value for money - 4.5/5 Would return? Yes Sandwich haven that serves massive creations with generous fillings. They have 8 different types of bread and you can put whatever you want in them. One standout is the tuna salad sandwich with hot peppers which created a harmonious sandwich symphony that left me craving more. But let's not forget about the turkey and bacon sandwich, with super crispy bacon and an insane amount of turkey. Be warned, though - they don't hold back on the sauces here, so choose wisely to avoid a saucy avalanche. A word of advice: Don't underestimate the portion sizes. The sandwiches here are truly colossal. Unless you possess an insatiable appetite, ordering a whole sandwich may be a daring endeavor.

Yelp
Best sandwiches ever!! I came here 4x during my 3 day visit to Nantucket. I customized 2 turkey sandwiches, 1 ham and 1 veggie all on oatmeal bread and all of them were super good. Fresh veggies, high quality meat and their chutney is a 10/10! I purchased both the chutney and oatmeal bread to bring home because it was that good! The customer service was really friendly and I think the prices are worth it. Also, the atmosphere is perfect with picnic tables out front to eat outside. Couldn't be beat! Highly recommend.

Katherine R.

Yelp
The most classic sandwich shop on island! I always make a point to stop here before the beach and get a fresh sandwich to go. I recommend just getting a half sandwich because they are HUGE. The picture included with this review is just a half. I love the turkey sandwich, with cheese and a bunch of veggies. It's so good! Also make sure to try their lemonade or juices, those are also so good! If you want to eat on sight they have a large lawn area with spread out picnic tables. They also have easy parking (as long as it's not too packed).

Bob H.

Yelp
This is our first time back on island in three years. Something Natural is as good as it ever was. We ordered and paid online. They have changed things around; and really try to make the ordering and pickup process as smooth as they can.

Katrina F.

Yelp
I had one of the veggies sandwiches. It had lots of veggies but the flavor was not as delicious as I had hope. Something was missing. I wouldn't run there for another sandwich.

Noelle M.

Yelp
We find ourselves craving this frequently. Man, if I could get that cookie dough shipped! Loved everything we've ordered from the menu. Good idea to preorder if you're there during the season.

Lindsey T.

Yelp
Had the worst sandwich of my life here today. The bread literally fell apart and was disintegrating as I was trying to eat it. I got a Turkey sandwich with cheese, avocado, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, Mayo and mustard and it could not have been more bland. Also their ordering system on the screens could not be more confusing. I would not recommend going here - there are much better sandwiches on island!

Tracy T.

Yelp
Amazing!!!!!! Best sandwiches on island. A whole sandwich is definitely two servings. All veggies are fresh and delicious fillings. All bread options are fresh, with great crust and delicate interiors; truly astounding. The cookies are not to miss!!! We had an oatmeal and a chocolate chip peanut. Both were terrific. The best part may be the ambiance of enjoying a fresh, delicious sandwich on the lawn or at a picnic table. Very wholesome, authentic vibe reminiscent of younger days. Would 10/10 recommend.

R K.

Yelp
Kiosk ordering system is terrible -- touch screen is often unresponsive and they force you to enter your personal email in to complete your order. Sandwiches were okay, not great. My wife's sandwich was drippy and soggy. Cookie was good. No soap in the bathroom. Yay. I feel bad about giving this place a poor review, but I also don't feel bad.

Yelp
The name of the establishment is "Something Natural", something indeed. I spent over $100 happily for four (1/2) sandwiches and a salad and 3 beverages. IThe problem lies with the fact that three of the VEGETARIAN sandwiches had pieces of bacon on one, pieces of what I can only surmise was turkey on another, and a third sandwich, which was completely an identifiable meat item. The woman had a difficult time identifying the sandwich as well. I thought "let me be kind bring the three sandwiches back to the window, waiting in line for another 20 minutes and see if it's possible that they could just give us two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." This, however, proved to be terribly problematic for the young lady behind the counter. As her offer/solution was to locate an alternative form of payment in my car even though they were crediting my card for almost $70 and then wait in line for an additional 22 minutes. My father, who is the least particular regarding food promptly threw his salad away within minutes of trying it. My stepmother decided to go to another establishment, Provisions, after trying her sandwich. While I would love to be able to have an easy, good, and a beautiful spot for sandwiches unfortunately they fall short in the sanitary category along with any sense of customer service. The one compliment I can give is that the three beverages that were sealed and had nothing to do with the establishment were perfectly fine. I do hope that the young ladies that are operating your line and food prep making the sandwiches could figure out how not to have cross contamination. Also as a "Something Natural" purveyor, good luck finding one item at this establishment.

Yelp
Always a favorite spot for lunch! I've been coming to Something Natural since my kids were toddlers-now 30's!! Everything is delicious! Great family destination for lunch in a beautiful park setting.

Jackie D.

Yelp
We ordered ahead while we were on the ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket. They had some of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever had in my life. Warning- they are MASSIVE. We ordered half sandwiches so we may try a couple of different kinds and it was so filling. I recommend the tuna and their turkey sandwiches. You may customize each to your liking. All of their breads were delicious and not toasted. So fresh and full of veggies! I highly recommend this spot for a healthy lunch. They are located in a residential area and their driveway is easy to miss. A beautiful setting in a house, with picnic tables and lush trees in the front where you may enjoy your sandwich.

Sophie L.

Yelp
Listen, I'm from the South. we got Publix & pub subs.. and lemme tell ya, this is a damn good sandwich. perfect for a beach and chips moment. The one slice of cheese and mound of salami was the perfect ratio. great homemade bread and excellent staff. This is the place nantucketers!!

Nico C.

Yelp
Tried this tucked away gem off of a residential street in Nantucket. Had the roast beef and the turkey on Portuguese bread. The turkey was just alright - nothing special but I will say the roast beef was exceptionally tender and flavorful! The bread was great and the veggies were fresh tasting. Very reasonably priced for the island and fyi the chocolate chip cookie was good and buttery (almost a French take on the American classic). Highly recommend for a casual lunch or take out!

Ben D.

Yelp
Lame sandwiches even lamer prices. I'd rather take the hairs caught in my butt cheeks put them in between loaves of Italian bread than eat their basic was turkey sandwiches.

Brian M.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. The food is and always has been great. The new kiosk ordering system, however, is a huge problem. It's slow, hard to use and impersonal. Please change this.

Lana J.

Yelp
I would call this place Something Subpar. Apparently you can no longer go inside and order - you now order on a POS system outside, which is a massive PITA. Enter your name, your email, yadda yadda yadda....It's uncomfortable trying to read through the menu while a line is forming behind you. Anyways - $19 for a full sandwich. I guess when you're in Nantucket people will pay up the wazoo to post a pic of a decent looking sandwich on Instagram. The sandwiches were good - but it was not worth going out of our way to come here for lunch. FYI ordering a half sandwich would have been plenty. But I suppose that's how they get ya when you can't ask a POS system how large the sandwiches are.

Lindsay D.

Yelp
Love this place! The best! I love their Portuguese bread. Their sandwiches are all fantastic! Great to pick up and bring along to the beach.

Ed M.

Yelp
Wow, what a spot! We had a great August afternoon! Sandwiches were amazing....so fresh...tons of meat, veggies on fresh bread! Sat at one of the picnic tables, which was a perfect setting I know the price is a little high, but it is well worth every penny! If you go, get a Whole sandwich, instead of a 1/2 ! 5-star I can't wait for Summer 2020

M R.

Yelp
Huge fresh sandwiches to take to the beach. Homemade bread, cookies etc. Order ahead online to avoid the long wait.

Charlie H.

Yelp
My mom loves this place and so do I. Great portions of great sandwiches. Every time I come to Nantucket, this is the place I go for lunch / brunch. All of the sandwiches slap and hit. Strongly recommend anything with their hummus.

Melissa L.

Yelp
Honestly very disappointed in my sandwich. I got it on the French bread and the bottom piece did not even cover the toppings. It fell apart instantly and was not edible as a sandwich. I had to take it home and remake it with bread from my house. For $19+ dollars that's not okay. I'm not a Karen, I'm a 20 year old who is very disappointed in the quality for the price. I would describe the sandwich as lazy. I will not be returning to this place.

Mimi L.

Yelp
A must whenever I visit ACK! Always so fresh and perfectly blended for a salad sandwich! Lobster salad and curry chicken salad are my favorite! The sandwich bread is so fluffy, soft and fresh. Brand name drink is great too. Nothing like Snapple though look alike. Taste .... just like something natural.

Trevor M.

Yelp
Alright, good sandwich. Got roast beef which was nothing special. Missed some things on our order which was not very complicated. Any add ons are extremely overpriced but large sandwiches are a plus. Better places to go on island.

Kim M.

Yelp
Loved the roast beef I had here and a huge fan of the Portuguese bread that is all over Nantucket; however, I also love putting the works on my sandwich and the fresh baked bread can't handle that, so keep it simple and keep it light ... and I suppose "natural" and your sandwich won't be impossible to pick up or get floppy. A bit aways from the center of town, but the walk is kind of nice and everything is green and trees while you eat on the picnic benches. A getaway on your Nantucket getaway.

Jaimee A.

Yelp
This is a terrific sandwich shop! There is a very large area to have a picnic, with lots of tables and benches. The shop is clean and the staff is very friendly. We ordered: Liverwurst with onions on Portuguese bread with brown mustard - delicious Roast Beef with mayo on Portuguese bread - very good Ham on wholewheat - very good Turkey with tomato and onions on wholewheat - delicious Molasses cookies with raisins - very good Pull apart cinnamon muffins - delicious We would highly recommend and come back!

Cara S.

Yelp
One of my all time favorite sandwiches. The ingredients are always fresh and the portions are massive for what you pay (a "half" portion is the size of a normal sandwich.) My go to is a half turkey on their herb bread with lettuce, shredded carrot, onion and yellow mustard. Can't go wrong! Also, don't even think about leaving without a homemade chocolate chip cookie.

Jess L.

Yelp
Amazing cookies. Go! Right now! The sandwiches are also large and interesting. I like the cabin feel of the restaurant/cafe itself. But get the cookies! And get a lot of them, because they're going to go fast!

Denise M.

Yelp
The best sandwiches on the island. Create your own or choose from the menu. My favorite is the Sheila. The most delicious bread I have ever had. You can order a full or half sandwich. Love that option. One of the best values on the Island too!

Lisa T.

Yelp
FRESH! Delicious! Probably THE BEST sandwich on the island... maybe anywhere. Seating is all outdoors on picnic tables. Parking in the lot can be challenging during the summer, but there's usually street parking as well. The sandwiches are delicious. A half sandwich is more than enough. Get the Portuguese bread! Seriously. Also, get dessert. The cookies and brownies are so good!

Rebecca A.

Yelp
My husband and I walked here from town to grab some sandwiches before catching the ferry back to the mainland. They have kiosks for you to order at, which is great since it has photos and gives you some time to decide on your order. We both ordered whole sandwiches and they were huge! The herb bread was great and everything just seemed so fresh! They customized everything just as we ordered them, and the chocolate chip cookies 9also huge) were so delicious. I would absolutely come back!

Natalie B.

Yelp
Erica and Hector are the dynamic duo! Excellent service from Erica and even more excellent margaritas from Hector. Highly recommend you stop by to see them :)

Nicole L.

Yelp
We went there 5 minutes before they were closing. Staff was still very friendly. Prices were decent. I had the 1/2 alfalfa, veggie and cheese sandwich. Plenty of food and made to order. Good. The blondie was also good. They had lots of homemade salads (chicken, past, etc) and they all great. The bread was fresh and made in house. Great find (but extremely hard to find). Google was able to find it but zero signage and set far back from the road(not visible). It is right next to a park.

CC C.

Yelp
Lovely place on Cliff St located down a long driveway. It's almost like you're entering the perfect little picnic spot to sit out with your family when you venture to Something Natural. They have a fairly decent variety of sandwich options. Select your bread and any additional add ons. Standard toppings are lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard. Unless it already states it comes with cheese, cheese is $1 extra (same with bacon and a few other add ons). Pickles, red onions, and those veggies are 0.30¢ extra. Half a sandwich runs anywhere from $5.50-$6 with a whole setting at $9.50-$10. Extras can really add up if you're not careful. The half a sandwich is huge and that's what I've stuck with so far, but the whole seems worth the price and can be saved for later or shared. No indoor seating so after you order (cash only here) you can head outside and sit on one of the picnic benches to enjoy your sandwich. Quick sandwich prep, cute venue, and reasonable prices for Nantucket? Something Natural is worth stopping by often.

Steph M.

Yelp
Love this place! The half-sandwich is huge...there's no need to order a full! The house-made hummus is terrific, and we love sitting out back on the picnic tables taking in the pastoral view. Prices are more than fair. There's quite a wait during the lunch rush, though, so order ahead if possible. All the bread except the Portuguese is vegan. Spindrift & Cape Cod chips are also available!

Fontaine B.

Yelp
This place is pretty much perfect. Great sandwiches. Amazing (fresh) bread. A huge lawn with picnic tables and space for kids to run around and play. And the Matt Fee tea is something I dream about. What more could a girl ask for in a lunch spot?

Chelsea P.

Yelp
The pictures do not do these sandwiches justice. Extremely simple yet SO good. The ingredients are fresh and bread is made by them. The curry chicken was amazing. Also loved the turkey and the BLT. TIP: the pictures when you are ordering sometimes show certain ingredients (lettuce, tomato) but you still have to click to ADD each of these if you want it (and many are free such as lettuce and tomato). The first time I learned this the hard way and got a sandwich with just turkey on bread and that's it. Another tip is that you can order online for pick up.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Back at it. The bread. The cookies. The sandwiches. DAYUM. You honestly can't go wrong with any sandwich. They had a few dark years, but I'm super pumped to say that they're back at it. Their sandwiches are the truth. - Sheila's Favorite - Smoked turkey, tomato and swiss on oatmeal - Lobster salad - Honey baked, swiss and tomato. - Avocado, cheddar and chutney. Any of those are home runs and those are the only ones I have in rotation. I'm confident all the other options are as equally delicious. They did do away with soda? Both a good thing (for health), but a bad thing since I do love me a diet coke. Order and eat there or take it go and have yourself a lil' picnic at the beach. Either way, you're winning.

Shelley D.

Yelp
This place has amazing sandwiches. Sometimes, you've run out of money because Nantucket is a tad expensive and you just need a simple meal to take with you to a beach. Something Natural has delicious food and very reasonable prices.

Julia M.

Yelp
Think, nice picnic lunch. Grab your sandwich and go sit at a picnic table and look at all the indigenous birds landing around you while you are eating. Nice, huh? And, they make their own bread!!! The sweets are fresh and very artisanal. We went for gold and ordered the lobster salad sandwich. It was good, not the traditional New England lobster roll at all. But it was tasty. The picnic tables out back were a pleasant setting for our lunch and it was very serene and quiet. Something Natural is located in a residential area and you have to watch closely when looking for it the first time. You have to turn into what you think is someone's driveway, but then it all opens up and you will see the parking area. The bathroom is actually an outhouse, BUT it is very spacious, clean and handicapped accessible. I've got to hand it to these folks, They thought of everything.

Adam S.

Yelp
Awesome make a stop to Something Natural when out on ACK. Great fresh bread and meats. Go with the half sando's unless you want leftovers as the full is huge.

Mrs F.

Yelp
Theses sandwiches used to be amazing, now they r fine but overpriced. This place has lost its magic. iPads have replaced the person writing down your sandwich order. The line is long. The prices are high. The atmosphere is not good. The whole property as been closed except for the long line. Hopefully they'll go back to what made them great but I'd skip for this year.

Gilad H.

Yelp
Love the outdoor dinning experience and the amazing food! On top of that, prices are lower than main st area and portions are BIG. Love it!!!

Kelly M.

Yelp
I had first heard of this place in Elin Hildebrand's books. I had the egg sandwich, my husband had the smoked turkey. We both got whole sandwiches and couldn't finish. Mine was piled high with carrots, cucumbers, tomato, lettuce, onion, and pickle on their whole wheat bread. I have a very healthy appetite and could only finish half. His was on French bread with lettuce tomato and mayo. He also couldn't finish the whole. We ate at their picnic tables overlooking Coffin Park. On a slightly overcast spring day it was perfect. The price for the whole looks like a decent amount, but given that it's really enough for two adults, it's kind of a steal. I highly recommend coming here for a nice low key lunch.

Matthias J.

Yelp
Lovely spot to stop, have a pick-nick and enjoy a sandwich and a cookie. There's space to spread out and several tables in the shade. Bring a blanket and sit under a tree.

Katherine W.

Yelp
Literally the best sandwich I've ever had. I'll be dreaming of it until I can get back to Nantucket!

Ivy G.

Yelp
Okay sandwiches and heavenly cookies but I hate eating here because I've heard so many horror stories about the way the workers are treated.
