Yum!!! Our group of 6 shared one Chocolate Banana Bingsoo after an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ dinner, and it was the perfect size and sweet treat to end the night. Great balance of light, cold, sweet, and salty! Line was out the door, and inside was very busy on a Thursday evening around 8/9 PM. Would highly recommend for dessert!

Google
Really great service and super good dessert! We've always loved everything we've tried here. If you come later in the evening, be prepared for a busy parking lot but that just comes with a lot of the places in the area. We try to go closer to opening during weekdays now and there's never any trouble with parking during those hours! I'd definitely recommend this place! Also, staff has always been amazing every time we've stopped here!

Google
Guilty pleasure for weekend taste buds! One of the best desserts at very affordable price..worth thr calories & matcha recommended 😉

Google
yummy! Very creamy and unique soft serve ice cream. Intricate flavors and super fast service even though the line was out the door. People taking our orders were nice too. Definitely get a cup with the taiyaki on top for the most value and spill prevention.

Google
LOVE THIS PLACE! They have the best soft serve ice cream 🍦 and the tayaki waffles are so delicious. Make sure to get the custard filling! My favorite ice cream flavors are matcha, taro, & black sesame

Google
Would never try a trendy spot like this on my own but decided to venture in with a friend. Long line that moved quickly. Popular for a reason. Unique soft serve and cones, great flavors, a bit too sweet but delicious and fun to try once (a bit pricey).

Google
Flavors were very different from other traditional ice cream places. We got three of their flavors and they tasted ok. The guy there refused to let us taste the flavors, saying that they don't allow tasting the ice cream after 10PM, although the shop was open till 11 and they were still serving.

Poema Sandoval

Google
Lovely concept! Too sweet for my taste, but I'm not a big-sweets-eater

Yelp
What a sweet way to end a heavy meal! Only thing that threw me off was the layout there's a line between the two parlors, which made things a bit confusing at first. But once I got to the counter, it was smooth sailing. The ice cream? Smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. The Ube and Matcha flavors were to die for perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. And topping it off with the Taiyaki (that fish-shaped waffle stuffed with red bean)? Chef's kiss. Soft, warm, and the perfect texture contrast to the cold creaminess. Service was on point friendly, fast, and helpful. This spot is definitely going to be a staple for future dessert runs!

Yelp
This Convoy Street suite started out as Caffe Bene several years ago. The owners then transformed it into a more expansive Korean dessert stop. SomiSomi was the business to the right as you entered from the south side facing the parking lot. Soft serve ice cream was the first menu offering. Four base flavors and two swirl combinations were available with the latter being rotated weekly. The serving vessel could be a cup or ah-boong (fish-shaped waffle cone, normal or upside down). One of five fillings were then added to complete an order. The other dessert food was taiyaki which was a fish-shaped pastry using the same dough as ah-boong. Seven different fillings were featured. The taiyaki was sold in quantities of two or five. I bought two of them with custard as one filling and red bean as the other filling. You can watch the staff use a mold to form the pastry and then cook it on a cast iron griddle. The result was a photogenic, hot and fresh sweet treat. I liked the custard version better because of the creaminess. Outdoor seating was available as picnic tables in front of the entrance. Inside seating was shared with the business to the left that sold shaved ice, toast, coffee, and tea. I have visited both sides of the suite and for this latest trip to SomiSomi, I gave a four star rating.

Yelp
If you're craving ice cream but aren't a fan of super sweet desserts, Somisomi is the perfect spot for you! I really enjoyed the Matcha & Ube soft serve. It hit the spot for my sweet craving without tasting overly sugary. The matcha has a more earthy taste that I found really unique. One thing I love is that the soft serve flavors constantly rotate, so there's always a reason to come back and try something new. The line can get a little hectic at night, but don't worry. It moves pretty quickly. The space inside can get a bit loud, because another business shares the space, but there is also a small outdoor patio for extra seating if you prefer a quieter vibe.

Yelp
Its always a pleasure dropping by in here when you need a little sweetness in life. Soft serve ice cream on Tayaki always hit that spot when you're craving something sweet. Especially during summer. The place is clean and the Tayaki was freshly made. Good customer service. Just timed your arrival as it's hard to find parking and lines get too long especially on weekends. I recommend trying the tayaki with red bean on macha and ube swirl. We'll be coming back soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Ice cream was great. Highly recommend. I DO NOT recommend getting the fishes as a standalone, it was a let down. Other than that, cheap ice cream, and very tasty! Cute vibes

Yelp
It's a cute little soft serve/taiyaki shop attached to a coffee shop. They have different flavors of soft serve that you can get with a custard filled taiyaki. I got ube soft serve with a custard-filled taiyaki,I added biscoff crumb and sprinkles. My best friend got an ube, cookies and cream swirl with a Nutella taiyaki. This time there was a Good nutty flavor to the ube, my only desire was that there was more filling in the taiyaki itself. The whole thing was only $6.50 each, which isn't a bad deal for being in convoy, and makes for a great dessert post dinner. There was also an earl grey and matcha flavor which wasn't super sweet, and could be a good balance if you don't prefer sweet. Service was very streamlined, we were in and out within 10 minutes. I'd like to try some of the cafe items next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Another great experience at Somisomi! Service was quick, friendly, and helpful. I got the peach flavor with a custard filled ahboong and fruity pebbles. The ice cream was smooth and really yummy! I do like the matcha and ube swirl better, but think the peach is a great summer flavor! Very refreshing. There's limited seating to enjoy your dessert, but if you can snag an outdoor picnic table it's the perfect spot to hang out while eating!

Yelp
Somi Somi: Where Sugar Dreams and Credit Cards Collide... So our ravenous gang of 15 sugar-hungry humans stormed Somi Somi like it was the last dessert shop on Earth (because according to the kids, it practically is). I'll admit... it is worth the hype!! That matcha-ube swirl? A creamy yin-yang of earthy goodness and purple velvet. I also devoured two taiyaki: one stuffed with matcha custard, the other with Nutella, because clearly, moderation is for people who don't love themselves. BUT HOLD ON TO YOUR WALLET. Literally!! Because they don't take cash!!!! I handed some of the kids money like a generous dessert fairy godparent, only to have them return, empty-handed and confused, whispering the horror: "They said no... TO CASH!!!" Parking: Think "Hunger Games: Asphalt Edition." Tiny lot, paid parking, and a barcode scan situation. Because nothing pairs better with soft serve than downloading an app to avoid a ticket. Overall, sweet treat heaven, plastic only, and good luck parking your sugar fueled chariot.

Yelp
Pros: - Delicious! With quick service - Flavors rotate bi-weekly (their IG shows flavors); you can pick one or choose a preset swirl combo - Ice cream is light, not heavy - Very helpful and nice workers - Fast casual, there a a cute backdrop at the end of the order line for a photo op Cons: - Almost always busy, so can get packed in line - Very limited parking - Very limited seating (one table inside, 3 outside)
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
I love a good taiyaki and when you add ice cream, it's a winning combo. I got the matcha and peach swirl soft serve, topped with coconut flakes. In addition to the toppings, you can finish up your dessert with a macaron or strawberry. It's the perfect treat especially on a warm day. The parking lot has free 2 hour parking for customers.
google avatar

Caitlin D.

Yelp
Line moved fairly quick & Friday night is pretty loud and busy. The only negative I have from my experience is that the area to pay is super far away placed closer to the worker than the customer. It's a bit difficult to reach and pay with card (no cash payments-- I believe). I don't remember the price, as I usually do text Reciept but I couldn't reach it (lol) so accidentally hit no Reciept. I got the Upside Down AhBoong with Nutella, Ube Soft Serve. Asked for Fruity Pebbles. I guess it depends on the location because this ube was a much lighter color than the others. Although the flavor of ube was still prominent. It was delicious with the addition of the fruity pebbles. The Ahboong wasn't warm, but it was well cooked with a subtle amount of Nutella. Overall, a delicious dessert to end the night. I'd recommend stopping in!

Yelp
This is just an amazing product on all accounts. The only shortcomings are lack of consistency in size/portion and customer service needs a bit of work. Guys, this is not the military, and one should not be in a hurry when ordering, especially if its the first time. How about a nice "Welcome" and "Is this your first time?"? TYPE, SIZE TOPPINGS STTAAATTTT!!!! wouch, slow down a millisec... Also, give me the "new" guy every time. I get more in my cup, just saying, a little bit extra goes a hell of a long way :) Back to the product itself, just an amazing treat...

Yelp
Love this dessert shop in Convoy. There's usually a line out the door, but it moves pretty quickly. They don't have many ice cream flavors, but the ones they do offer are pretty good. My personal favorite is the corn ice cream. It's a seasonal offering and they don't currently have it available, but it's one of my favorite ice cream flavors at any ice cream shop. There isn't much seating, but it's still a nice place to drop by after dinner.
google avatar

Kaylee O.

Yelp
Somisomi is the perfect after meal sweet treat. Every flavor is a great flavor. They are so efficient. You might wait in a long line, but it moves super fast! Ube & matcha are my favorite flavors & fruit pebbles is a must topping. It's small on the inside, but plenty of space outside.
google avatar

Charlotte B.

Yelp
I try to come here every time I'm in convoy whether it's for a dinner or the grocery stores. I always get the taiyaki with the Nutella filling. The service is always kind and helpful, although it can take a little while to get your dessert depending on how busy they are. The ambiance inside is good, but there are not a lot of seats so keep that in mind. I would definitely recommend coming here for a snack or dessert!
google avatar

Jeslyn L.

Yelp
This was a great place for dessert after dinner! It's located in convoy so great for an after treat. They have ice cream where you can put it in your dish and they ask which toppings you would like to place on top. I like the taiyaki where it's just the fish with filling. I ordered the five pack, with nutella, custard, oreo, red bean, and black sesame. My favorite is the nutella and custard. The taiyaki is hot compared to the cold soft serve. It is crispy on the outside and warm and hot on the inside. The filling taste great which is not too sweet. I definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Verona M.

Yelp
I've lost count of how many times I've been to SomiSomi. It's hands down one of my favorite dessert spots in San Diego. The taiyaki is always served hot and crispy with that soft, chewy center that makes it addicting. I usually go for the custard filling, which pairs perfectly with the soft serve. My favorite swirl is matcha and milk. The matcha has a bold, earthy flavor that doesn't taste artificial, and the milk soft serve balances it out with just the right amount of sweetness. Everything tastes fresh and the texture is always smooth and creamy. Even when there's a line out the door, the staff keeps things moving quickly and they've never messed up an order. You can tell they care about the quality. If you've never been, just know it lives up to the hype. And if you've been before, you already know it's hard to stay away.
google avatar

Sandy P.

Yelp
I favor their milk based icecream more and enjoy their icecream served in a cup with the fish on top. I opt for custard filling taikyaki and it's perfect for a nightly sweet treat.
google avatar

Erik L.

Yelp
What's not to like? It's soft serve--in a fish-shaped waffle. Enough said. Somi Somi is pure dessert joy. Get your swirl of soft serve (always silky smooth and just the right level of sweet), tuck it into that warm, slightly crispy taiyaki cone, and then go over the top--Oreo crumbles, please. The combos here feel like you're building your dream dessert every time. Yeah, there's usually a line (this place is no secret), but props to the staff--they move quick and keep it friendly. The indoor area can get a little tight when it's busy, but there's plenty of seating outside if you're down to hang out and enjoy your treat al fresco. Sweet, satisfying, and a little whimsical--Somi Somi is always worth the wait.
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
Give me somisomi. This place is busy and for all the right reasons! It's my be place. Best taiyaki I've ever had. The place was lit.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
SomiSomi is one of my favorite soft serve places! The waffle fish is so delicious and whatever combo of soft serve that you have, it doesn't disappoint. I got ube and matcha swirl. Service was friendly at this location. Ambiance was fine. I recommend getting it in a cup for less mess. I also recommend the custard filling for the fish. Overall, I highly recommend that you give SomiSomi a try.

Yanye Y.

Yelp
Matcha and earl grey made me SOMI my pants. I had 10 taiyakis with custard and overdosed on SOMI. Everyday I wake up with a rock hard SOMI because I dream about SOMI SOMI EARL GREY SOFT SERVE. The SOMI service is extremely fast too and and ambiance is SOMI-licious. While the SOMI serve may be SOMI soft I am definitely not :)
google avatar

Trevor L.

Yelp
If you have a sweet tooth and want some custom soft serve , this is the place to be . I always get the fish and then a mixed soft serve and add in fruity pebbles. Great service to build your own cup and it's a little small so be prepared to stand and eat or take it to go
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
I came to SOMI SOMI two times this long weekend. I really like the coconut flakes with the fruity pebbles. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet sit down place to chat because it is super loud and hard to hear. I would recommend if you're looking for a high energy place.
google avatar

Marcia R.

Yelp
It was a easy line on a Friday nite. Only few people in front of us Quick service was great, friendly, easy menu to order once your having your order taken. I had the Cookies n Cream an custard up side down fish Matcha & sprinkles in cup Sweet corn with Nutella Cookie n Cream and Custard and Sprinkles We all enjoy our ice cream it was creamy and not overly sweet. Cold and delicious
google avatar

Desaree V.

Yelp
Ube taste like taro milk tea. Smooth and y yummy. I love that towards the end you can add toppings as many as you like without the extra charge.
google avatar

Suk P.

Yelp
Awesome unique place for desert. The line may be long but it goes fast. Parking is a bit difficult as there are several restaurants that share the small lot. Service was fast and the ice cream was so smooth and flavorful. Which they had one up where I live!
google avatar

Nancy T.

Yelp
Always busy but efficient! We always opt for the Ube soft serve and if there's any seasonal flavors we also try that as well. The 5 pack Taiyaki is our standard so everyone in the family can choose their favorite fillings. The ambiance is very lively. Seating is available outside and in the shared space next door.
google avatar

Alan L.

Yelp
Love the ube ice cream. Baby was being indecisive. Kept wanting it, but whenever I tried to give to her, she turns. Maybe she thinks its Nemo lol . Service was great and really fast. Maybe next time I'll get the cookie and cream for my daughter or maybe wait until she's old enough to have a pallete for Ube. Fast service if you really want to eat the dessert. The place was chilled to hang out with friends.
google avatar

Susan L.

Yelp
No more sesame flavor Ordered green tea with custard and macaroon topping. Came here for the big fad to test
google avatar

Pearl L.

Yelp
Always a long line when we get here but it moves fairly quickly - don't let it deter you! Everything is made to order and works like a cafeteria line. We ordered the matcha, cookies and creme and matcha and ube swirl. All flavors were 10/10 - soft serve texture with light sweetness (cookies and cream was the sweetest flavor). For the taiyaki we tried Nutella, custard and red bean for the fillings. Nutella is exactly as expected, custard had a bouncy texture and not overly sweet, red bean was also not too sweet which is the perfect balance to the ice cream! Each taiyaki kept its chewiness and did not get soggy as the ice cream began to melt. You also get an option to add toppings which is nice. I've been a returning customer and will continue to come back! They change their flavors and swirl combinations weekly it seems like. I've been waiting for the black sesame flavor to come back but haven't seen it just yet.
google avatar

Sheila K.

Yelp
I have been here twice now and both times I left happy. They have several flavors of takoyaki to choose from. The light crunch on the outside, the subtle mochi texture and the filling all blended really well for a harmonious flavor. There is ample seating and complimentary 2 hour parking on the plaza. The restrooms are also clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Overview: Perfect after-dinner dessert, busy, hard to find parking ---- Soft serve $4.50: - Creamy, soft texture - Features Asian flavors; it seems like their permanent flavors are Ube and Cookies and Cream - 2 rotating flavors including: Banana Milk, Matcha, Sweet Corn, Black Sesame, and more - Choose from the 4 flavors or their 2 weekly swirls - They offer a lot of different toppings like Fruity Pebbles, Coco Pebbles, Captain Crunch, Biscoff crumbs, Oreo crumbs, coconut flakes, matcha powder, rainbow sprinkles, 1 macaron shell, and a half strawberry Taiyaki (2 for $4.50, 5 for $8.95): - Crispy on the outside, soft, chewy, and warm on the inside - SO GOOD when fresh - 6 or 7 types of fillings to choose from depending on the week - Permanent fillings: Nutella, red bean, custard, cheddar, and Oreo - Rotated fillings: matcha custard, taro, and black sesame - If you buy 2, it's $2.25 each - If you buy 5, it's $1.79 each I'd definitely recommend getting the soft serve and ordering the taiyaki on the side so they make it fresh. With the ahboong, they pre-make the fish-shaped waffle shells so they can keep up with orders, but the fresh taiyaki is way better. Plus, having two taiyakis balances out the big serving of soft serve you get--trust me, it's the way to go! ---- Parking: - Can be hard to find especially at night and on the weekends when there are so many people eating out in Convoy - Their parking lot is pretty small, there is another lot around the corner and you take the stairs down Service: - Every time I go it's busy, but the workers try to go as fast as possible - Quick and friendly Ambiance: - Usually crowded and sometimes has a line out the door - There is one bench-style table and there is a counter along the window to stand at - They also share space with the dessert place next door, so people tend to sit there as well - It's great they stay open late! ---- Overall: One of my go-to dessert spots, worth the wait

Yelp
We need a somisomi in the Central Valley stat!!!! So I've had a taiyaki ice cream before but there's something about this place.. it's actually the best I've had!!! I ordered a swirl match and ube soft serve upside down custard filling with sprinkles. My order was literally done after I paid. I was the cutest taiyak ice cream. The taiyaki waffle was toasted perfectly nice crunch on the out and soft on the inside and the waffle was delicious! The ube and matcha perfectly paired together and had the perfect matcha and ube taste. I wanted to order another! & wish I had, guess I'll be dreaming about it until I return. The place is big and clean, plenty of seating indoor and out. The staff are friendly. Highly recommend and wish we had one back home!

Yelp
I really enjoy this place if im craving a quick sweet treat ! I usually get the ube and oreo mix with nutella filling. Its on the sweeter side but i enjoy the many flavors it has ! The location is a bit small, and there isnt enough seating areas so keep that in mind. The parking lot is small so your better off parking off the street next to car max. The service is exceptional ! You can choose from 10 different toppings ! In addition to this they have weekly mix specials so they are always changing the menu . Great variety !
google avatar

Christiane D.

Yelp
Their desserts never miss, always love the ube with Nutella filling! Fast service but lines can be long
google avatar

Viviana H.

Yelp
I tried out this location for some dessert and it was as expected from Somi Somi. The fishies seemed to have less filling compared to other locations in LA I'm used to. Menu is on the screen which is WAYYYY too high for my neck's comfort. This location only has one long picnic table inside but shares the indoor space with a shaved ice place so there are some other smaller tables you could use if the single bench isn't available. Staff was pleasant and I loved that the boxes now show the filling as long as they're labeled correctly.
google avatar

Nell E.

Yelp
want a fun festive spot to take Dad on his day? look no further then SomiSomi! delicious custard/bean paste/Nutella, etc. filled fish shaped pastries, or go savory with cheese!! good to the last fishy bite!
google avatar

Nina S.

Yelp
I recently visited Somi Somi with some friends, and it was the perfect spot for a light dessert after dinner!! We tried the matcha soft serve, which was rich and had a nice flavor, though it leaned a bit on the sweeter side according to my bf. I also ordered the strawberry milk, but sadly, the strawberries were pretty sour and the drink ended up being more pretty than tasty. Maybe when the strawberries are back in season, I'll try it again? On the bright side, the taiyaki on the soft serve was delicious and balanced out the sweetness from the matcha very nicely. You can also add toppings to the soft serve if you're looking to add flavor/ texture! If you're feeling even more adventurous, definitely go for the five-piece Taiyaki option--I really enjoyed the Nutella and custard fillings, but you can't go wrong with any of them! I would eat those quick tho as they start to get soggy after a while. But be careful because they do come out hot! Overall, it's a fun dessert spot, just come at a time when the line isn't out the door, so you're not waiting long.
google avatar

Rohan S.

Yelp
Good consistent flavors and good variety of toppings, coconut flakes is my favorite topping option. Having said that its a soft server place, and feel its a bit over hyped and over priced for soft serves. Also dont really get the fish full of sugar concept.
google avatar

Chimi M.

Yelp
I got their matcha and added matcha power and Oreo crumbs which was still very good like last time although I still do wish the matcha had a bit stronger taste as I feel like it's very light.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend trying out Somi Somi in Convoy! My favorite order is always an upside down Ahboong. With this, you essentially get soft serve ice cream with a fish-shaped bread on top filled with a flavor of your choice! My most recent order was a banana milk upside down Ahboong with matcha custard filling. I absolutely loved the banana milk because it reminds me of authentic Korean banana milk. It was so delicious, and I love how they allow you to select a few toppings (included in the price)! Topping choices include: sprinkles, matcha powder, and coconut shavings. I do also believe Somi Somi tends to switch out their flavors, which is super exciting! The only downside of this location is that in this specific store, there is very limited seating. However, I still always recommend this dessert shop to all of my friends who visit San Diego.
google avatar

Cristina B.

Yelp
Love how light and creamy their soft serve is, perfect for dessert post-meal! My go to was black sesame, but since it's no longer on the menu, the original flavor is still great. Customer service is a little lacking, but this place does get pretty busy so I would suggest going anytime during the week or prior to the dinner rush. The place is a little small, so depending on the wait, it can get a little crowded!
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
A dessert that doubles as a meal! Goto-Taiyaki upside down filled with custard and "milk" flavored soft serve ice cream, Oreo crumble topping. Their flavors change periodically, but have all been so good. The space is shared by another shaved ice vendor with more seating. There's limited seating inside on the somisomi side, and standing bar top. Service is typically fast, you customize your dessert when your name is called.
google avatar

Tavelle A.

Yelp
FIRST TIME..... I don't have much good to say about this place because I'm not the biggest ice cream fan any way. But what I will say is there ice creams is the smoothest ice cream I have ever tasted...
google avatar

Vixnee e.

Yelp
SomiSomi is a super delicious gem! They work quick and have so many options. Both of these servings costed me $11 so it wasn't terrible but definitely worth it!!! My only complaint is the parking, the lot is super small :/ ** Do NOT have military discount**
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Best soft serve in San Diego!!!! They have 4 rotating flavors, this one was the ube, and it can be served simply by itself or with a fish tail upside down on top. You can choose the fillings inside the fish as well, and get a couple toppings! I tried the matcha powder which went really well with the soft serve. The soft serve is so so so so good!!!!! It's creamy, delicious, flavorful but not overpowering in sweetness. Also they give you a ton! Honestly it's so worth the price. My only criticism is there's not a whole lot of seating, just a stand up counter which isn't too bad. There's another cafe it shares a building with next door. Be careful if you go here on the weekends, parking in the lot can be tough.
google avatar

Nathan M.

Yelp
1st time on this place. Great atmosphere but the place is really small they share with another business. Over all ice cream is creamy and sweet and just delicious over all. Service was super fast I think it took 2-3 minutes to get our order.
google avatar

Tra J.

Yelp
The ice cream was great if you like soft serve and the location is prime time. The service was great, the young lady answered all of our questions seeing as it was our first time. The place was clean with normal amount of noise. Good Business
