This wine bar is absolutely excepcional. Easily one of the best I’ve been to. Their wine selection is incredible, with an extensive variety that caters to every palate, from crisp whites to bold reds. The staff are genuinely knowledgeable and friendly, always happy to recommend the perfect pairing. The charcuterie board was a total standout too. Beautifully presented like a work of art, with an amazing selection of cheeses and cured meats. Every bite felt thoughtfully curated and perfectly balanced. The ambience is warm, cozy and inviting. Filled with natural light from the large windows and comfortable seating both inside and outside. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind for hours and just enjoy great wine, food, and conversation. A true gem on Johns Island! I can’t recommend it enough!

Bravo, bravo, bravo!!! Jordan, Tim and the rest of the crew really know this trade. My wife and I had two wine flights, a charcuterie board, and barrata with delicious bread. Each wine was distinct and delicious. GREAT atmosphere. I felt like I was in NYC or South Beach.

Tastefully designed interior in charming setting. Generous seating with bar and several booths. Upscale feel including bathrooms with cloth hand towels. Exceptional wines with rotating options. We had a charcuterie that fabulous with fruits, cheeses and a delightful departure from the typical plate. Fabulous sunny afternoon in charming, shaded environment. We enjoyed 4 glasses of wine, not our typical intake. Excellent wine options priced typical for the area. We loved it!!

Had a great afternoon at Somm- wonderful hospitality and comfort while the ladies and gents drank their pink wine and wine flights. Local IPA was great, but IPA from MI was slightly oxidized - though a wonderful option on the menu to try. Lovely outdoor patio. Inside felt like you are drinking with friends in your living room. Great staff, can’t wait to come back.

Love this little spot and very much look forward to the Nexton Location! Recently went for a wine tasting and it was. Great! The staff is amazing and knowledgeable! The charcuterie is perfect and the wine is delicious!

Love their wine flights and charcuterie boards! You can tell that they put a lot of love into curating everything that’s on the menu, and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful if you’re not a wine connoisseur :) they are happy to share their passion! Lovely space inside and out — especially if you’re able to sit outside when the weather is nice beneath the live oaks and twinkly lights, or by the fire! I love that they provide a basket of blankets to keep guests comfortable.

My family and I were spending a day in Charleston and decided to venture out to John’s island where we came across this beautiful red building! Intrigued, we decided to stop for a couple minutes! Those couple minutes turned into 4 amazing, family fun hours! If you’re looking for a phenomenal wine experience, look no further than Somm Wine bar! Their menu is a winery masterpiece. Offering an incredible selection of wines that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making our visit a true pleasure. Next time I’m in town, I’ll be stopping here again. Truly amazing place.

If you do anything in Johns Island, I would highly recommend going to the Somm Wine bar. Jordan and Bobby are both knowledgeable and friendly. The passion they have for wine and cheese and bringing an enlightening experience to each customer is amazing. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and clean. The wine, cheese, bread, and butter boards were both delicious and plated beautifully. The desserts offered were delicious as well. 10 out of 10, I will definitely go back.

I have been back a few times since this review. I love this place. It has an elegant island vibe open to anyone. It's located in an under-construction neighborhood. Such a great addition to Johns Island. The servers are mostly male which is unique for a wine place. They are all nice and know about the wines. The wine flights are great and offer lots of flavor choices. I appreciate they offer many flights (white, red, sweet, and dry). They allow dogs inside as well. Lastly, the charcuterie boards are not only pleasing to the eye but also flavorful. The cheese tasted fresh and the meats were great. I'm a huge fan of petite basque cheese now.

Visited Somm Wine Bar with the girls for a ladies' night out. Somm is on Johns Island across from the library. There is plenty of parking and reservations are not required, but if you have several in your party, I would recommend making a reservation as large tables are limited. We were greeted and offered menus as soon as we arrived. The staff was both friendly and attentive. The interior was warm and cozy with wine bottles on display and small couches and grouped chairs for cozy seating and conversation. They offered a nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle. Somm also offered both red, rose, and white wine flights. Charcuterie was also available as well as soft drinks and tea. Pricing is in line with other wine bars in the Charleston area. I ordered the red wine flight and it was very nice. The only negative was the lack of help by our server to explain more about the wines we were selecting. We had some that were less experienced with wine, and they were lost. They basically show you a menu, take orders, drop off your order, and that's it. I've been to other wine bars where they spend time explaining the wine if you ask questions, which we did. They also help you to pair a Charcuterie to go with your wine. I had a nice time with my friends, but I will probably visit other wine bars that offer a more personal touch.

No notes - truly perfect; could come here daily & not get sick of it. I'm on a quest to be best friends with the staff. Such a relaxing environment with lots of wine options. Charcuterie was chefs kiss (pun intended). Best new spot on Johns!

I visited Somm for their one year anniversary and absolutely love their sparkling Rose from Loire, France. It's my go to every time along with the Prosecco. It's featured here along with some delicious apps. Great charcuterie as well and wine flights. Friendly staff and an overall fantastic experience every time! Beautiful, elegant decor. I also included a lovely photo of the rose wall after an amazing evening with fabulous ladies.

For a smaller place they have a nice amount of wine, and some at everyones price point. We picked up a wonderful orange Croatian wine from there last Saturday. Perfect for a afternoon of peel and eat shrimp on the back patio! Last night, we dropped in to enjoy a wonder bottle of Brunello and a Charcuterie board of manchego, brie, a great goat cheese, spicy capacollo, and duck rillettes. The spot was hopping! full of people inside and outside. A great vibe. Jordan is a great owner and he had a team that was hopping. Im glad we have a spot like this on Johns Island

This is a great new place! Just what John's Island needed. Jordan is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about small family wineries that you really can't get most places. Great open atmosphere with U shaped bar and friendly staff. You can have a glass of wine at the bar, sit down at a table for a flight, or get a bottle to go from the retail section. They have great cheese and charcuterie selections for pairings. I think the Italian section provides a great value with mix of tiny producers and mature vintages.

I pulled up this old review to write about the personal service Somm provides, and was surprised to see another reviewer complain about the lack of personal service. I guess every place can have a bad day. The staff at Somm are unbelievably good at remembering their customers names AND their wine preferences. The selection is always changing which is both fun and sometimes frustrating- but they can always find you another bottle they think you will like- and. They are usually right!!

Stopped by today to request a menu for vacation rental clients in the Kiawah area. The server who never even greeted me - nodded to the menus without physically handing me one while impatiently suggesting that they can be found online. In this community we like to present hard copy menus of our preferred restaurants and local establishments. Though this encounter won't prevent me from encouraging travelers to frequent our small businesses, one can only hope that this particular attitude isn't the direction that our rapidly rising Maybank corridor in Johns Island is heading.

I would 100% recommend Somm for drinks with friends or even as a date night! The staff is extremely knowledgeable on their extensive wine list. The woman who assisted us let us sample a couple wines until we found one we enjoyed (which I loved since I am not super well versed in the different varieties). They also offer a wine of the day, wine flights and beer for those who prefer that. Additionally, they offer a build your own charcuterie board to pair beautifully with whatever wine you select. I would love to come back to try more and expand my wine palate!

Fantastic experience at Somm! This is a lovely wine bar and was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We got excellent recommendations for bottles from the sommelier and all recommendations were spot on! I got a bottle of sparkling to go and it was exactly what I was looking for at a great price point! We enjoyed cheeses and charcuterie and the portions were perfect and everything was delicious. The service was outstanding-Katie was great! I highly recommend this wine bar for folks on James and John's island!

We went for book club last night and I'll definitely be back! The space is beautiful. Lots of natural light and no overly kitschy decor. They are still finishing the buildings around this one so it feels a little weird pulling up but their building is great! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They were attentive but not overbearing with our table service. I got a wine flight - they offer 4 options and I went with the rose and bubbly one. We ordered charcuterie for the table and it was all fresh and tasty!

Very new. Sparkling clean, in and out. A zillion types of wine to pick from. Tasty meats, cheese, olives, fruits, etc. just a pleasure to sit and enjoy wines. Very pleasant owners wanting to please . A must on your list. Just a little loud when it gets busy, due to the acoustics. Frank G

Great new spot in John's Island! Went here with a friend on a Wednesday evening and loved the ambiance as well as food and drinks. We both tried the rosé/sparkling flight and then another glass (the nightly recommendation-I had a White Pinot Noir and my friend had a regular Pinot Noir). The charcuterie/cheese selection is great, and we added bread with EVOO and balsamic. Pleeennnnty of food for 2! The staff were all amazingly attentive and had great recommendations! Can't wait to go back!

Food portions are way too small for the cheese boards 25$. Not worth it. Some of the wines are not even listed from the Vineyards they are coming from. Service was good but they're trying to upsell you. The ambience, Is somewhere between a old barn feel & white formal linens. Wish them the best .

This was a very pleasant experience from the entry of the establishment to the completion of our visit. Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The wine selection was great and good prices. Will definitely be back!!

Everything here is amazing. Service, charcuterie, and atmosphere. It can get a little loud, but it didn't distract from the experience.

What a great addition to Johns Island. Jordan has an incredible knowledge of wine and terroir. The small group wine tastings are a great combination of learning, tasting wines from really small wineries, and making friendship, all accompanied by their delicious cheese plates. Can't wait to go to a wine and cigar pairing night soon.
