Sommer

"Chef Lewis Barker's debut restaurant fits seamlessly into this upscale condo tower. His multi-course menus display acumen, finesse and harmony. They change with the seasons, but usually feature seafood from around the world; Asian influences are pronounced in some courses. Creativity abounds in dishes such as the chef's version of the classic fish and chips, which takes the form of slow-cooked fish with pomme soufflé. Precise and well-timed service." - Michelin Inspector

Short review to say thank you for a wonderful experience! Recently had lunch at Sommer before they permanently close. Some of this meal’s dishes were certainly memorable, including a Hokkaido scallop “pot pie” and a pigeon dish that included the bird’s final finger expression as to being eaten.

Visited Sommer yesterday and truly deserving of 1 Michelin Star! Food was delicious with unique touches and blends of so many elements from tastes to textures. Thank you Chef Lewis Barker and the kitchen team! Service on the other hand was impeccable, with good interactions, checking on food, wine pairings and not being intrusive. Atmosphere was intimate and cosy. Special thanks to Rebecca for her warmth and hospitality, having showcase service with a smile. A gem and rare trait to have in the industry. Food pacing was good, timing all tables present together. Kitchen and service team made the dining experience what I call a harmonious melody in a theatre. Well done!

Had my birthday celebration at Sommer last year, it was truly one of the best fine dining experiences I had so far. From the starts to the main course, to the desserts, everything was perfect! Staff were really friendly as well. So sad to hear the closure of this amazing place! Will definitely missed it.

We were able to dine at Sommer before their announced closing due in October. It is a lost for this restaurant houses a team of hospitable, attentive and dedicated staff. As for the food. Every mouthful was a delightful tickle to the tastebud. Its beyond gourmet pleasure as each and every dish was way above satisfaction. Worth every dollar spent. Shared the menu we selected and the dishes. Absolutely deserving of their Michelin Star.

Sommer is a one Michelin star awarded in 2023. I came on a Friday night for their spring tasting menu as part of my birthday celebration. Every dish was well thought out and brilliantly put together. Presentation was simple and elegant. Dishes seemed to be focus on using good ingredients without having too sophisticated or complex elements. My favorites were the brioche and kombu butter and Brittany cod. The complimentary birthday cake was probably the best I ever had which is a pineapple flavored cake. Lastly, special shoutout to Lelia who made the whole experience so enjoyable. Fine dining is something most Singaporeans don’t enjoy everyday so being able to have it without being too pretentious can largely be due to the way the service staff engages you. A genuine looking smile, constantly topping up our tap water, being situationally aware, recommending dishes without being pushy, and taking photos voluntarily is just a few of the many things that made the night very enjoyable. Hospitality at its best!

Celebrated my birthday here, and it was just a fantastic and pleasant experience all-round. The hosts were friendly and conversational during our meal, and ensured we had a good time. As an additional bonus, we were surprised to find out that the talented chef’s birthday was also a few days after mine! Food was amazing and every dish delivered. I’m extremely particular with my bread, and I do not take more than 1 bite if unless it’s perfect, and by far, only 2 restaurants have I finished my bread. So it’s not an exaggeration to say, Sommer has nailed it. Plating was on point and they all looked like masterfully crafted artworks. But the highlight of the meal definitely went to the Samegarei. Flavourful and so soft and tender, this fish dish blew us away. Definitely deserved their 1 Michelin Star!

Amazing food experience and what caught our attention were the croissant like texture bread that was served first, unique plating of appetisers using edible flowers, the mushrooms, and the desserts. Overall we had an enjoyable time there with the friendly staff who always ensured that we feel welcomed and taken care of. However, felt that there could be additional 1-2 courses as I didn't feel as full as I expected to be, with the amount we paid for the whole meal.

Food was hands down beating expectations. I knew it would be amazing for a Michelin star restaurant but I actually thought it was better quality than just a 1 star. Also appreciated the large diversity in courses and in between tasters for the full menu. If anything there can be too much food you get full!. The smaller space feels more intimate and nice to look into the kitchen area. The option to choose your tasting size was also nice Cons - entrance door is difficult to find for building - wine list is long…but not high diversity in selection. It seemed like the median price was $800-$1000 for any wine bottle. Not many options for simpler but quality, less exclusive wines. Also although wine is “the” thing for most of these places, still wish there was more spirit friendly options
