ByClio to Open a Gowanus Cake Shop - Eater NY

"Until then, her pop-up storefront is tucked among shops on the Lower East Side. Hosted by Sommwhere, a new event space that grants restaurant residencies to chefs who want to test out restaurant concepts before finding a permanent location." - Charlotte Druckman

We love working with Sommwhere! I've hosted numerous dinners here. Not only is the space gorgeous, but the team is always so prepared and warm upon arrival. The space itself is super versatile and the kitchenette is outfitted with two rental ovens and hot plates that are top notch, and there's a beautiful bar that's optional for use. The plate selection is mostly hand-made by local artisans and are some of my favorites to work with in the city. It's the kind of venue everyone on the street is curious about, and it has gorgeous sunlight in the day and a beautiful glow at night. Don't even think about it, just book it!

I celebrated my Birthday at Ludlow location and it was fantastic!! Great and easy communication with Fatima, thank you so much! I rented plates and glasses and everything was ready and set by my arrival. Fatima even helped me to set up a table, while taking beautiful pictures! Absolutely recommend Sommwhere for events and celebrations, professional team!

Our team at Playlist has been using Sommwhere's spaces for events throughout the past year, and we've had a consistently great experience. The venues are beautifully designed with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that works well for our needs. Working with their team has also been great! They're responsive and help ensure everything runs smoothly from planning to execution. If you're looking for a reliable event space in the city, Sommwhere is worth checking out.

Had attended some cool events here, but also observed the owner acting in a hissy fit manner to my friend who had planned an event there, and being what felt to me like cruel. Not cool, and will stay away... UPDATE: Just an update to the owner's reply. I HAVE been at Sommwhere and separately I HAVE observed the behavior I shared (and the owners of sommwhere are well aware of that). Their response was another hissy fit.

Hosted my book launch here and it was 10/10! The Sommwhere team went above and beyond to bring my vision to reality. I hope to host more events here very soon :)

Nice exhibition showroom rental place. Wifi, chairs, some pedestals, many wine glasses available in the space.

I hosted a Murder Mystery party for my boyfriends birthday at Sommwhere over the weekend and we had the best time! We had known about Sommwhere having attended prior events at their spaces and when needing to decide where to host our party they were first to mind. The space is very cool with a minimalist feel allowing you to sprinkle in your own touch for whatever you may be looking to use the space for. The staff is exceptional. Extremely friendly and helpful! Super easy to work with and answer any questions you may have along the way. Check in/check out was so seamless and could not have been easier. I would definitely book this space again for a future party/event. Thanks again!

Yelp
If you're looking for an event space in Manhattan, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The owners of this venue are unprofessional, greedy, and lack basic hospitality standards. Their business model seems centered around nickel-and-diming clients at every turn. They charge extra for coat racks, water carafes, champagne buckets--even glassware. These are standard amenities that any decent event venue in NYC would include in their rental package. The space itself is poorly ventilated, the air conditioning barely functions, and during our event, it was uncomfortably hot. Not only is the physical venue subpar, but the interior design is tasteless and not at all aligned with the premium prices they charge. Despite being in Manhattan, this location lacks the professionalism, hospitality, and basic work ethic that event planners and brand managers expect when booking a space. Their communication is inconsistent and often dismissive, which made the planning process more stressful than it needed to be. I also witnessed disrespectful treatment of their own staff, which says a lot about their values and how they conduct business. If you're a brand or planner working with a budget, go for a full-service, all-inclusive venue that actually understands hospitality and values client experience. There are so many better event venues in Manhattan that offer transparent pricing, professionalism, and proper amenities. This was one of the worst event planning experiences I've had in New York City. I would not recommend this space to anyone--whether you're hosting a corporate event, private party, or brand activation. Steer clear.
