The 38 Best Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea | Eater

"Once filled with factories, Seongsu-dong now bustles with trendy cafes, restaurants, and pop-up stores. Despite the rapid and drastic changes in the area, some timeless classics remain, like Somunnan Gamjatang (famous gamjatang), which serves the eponymous savory red stew of pork bones and potatoes. Soju is unavoidable and don’t forget to add on sujebi, fresh hand-pulled dough that’s roughly torn straight into the hot broth at the table. It’s always crowded and loud, so not the best option for those who want to enjoy a conversation over their meal. Know before you go: While tang dishes are meant to be shared between two or more people, there is also a singular portion option of gamjaguk (potato soup), so don’t be afraid to visit alone." - Matty Kim

It was the best pork bone stew I've ever had. The broth was rich and deeply flavorful, and the meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone. The spices were perfectly balanced, providing a comforting and satisfying savory flavor with a slightly spicy kick in every bite. It was served bubbling hot, accompanied by hearty potatoes and greens, making it the ultimate soul food. We finished our stew with hand pulled noodles and I can't stop thinking about it! Plus, they are open 24 hrs!

Excellent pork bone soup I believe that they have only one menu after waiting in line. Staff will bring you to the table and bring out the food according to your number of people. Taste really good peace be careful when you’re digging in the phone. You can ask for the apron finish your mail go to the cashier for a payment. Credit card accepted. They cannot communicate in English well but don’t worry they have English menu and a lot of their foreign visit Restaurant enjoy!

If you're visiting Seongsu, avoid this restaurant at all costs. Even among locals, it's known for its poor taste. It's definitely not worth the long wait. The staff are unprofessional — they literally throw ladles around and are unresponsive when called. To top it off, the food is just bad. I strongly recommend choosing a different restaurant. You’ll have a much better experience elsewhere.

Long queue with lunch time but it went very quick. Queued about 15min around 13pm. We took small and it came with 4-5 big bones. Some parts very soft and tender and some dry. The ‘mustard’ chilli onion dipping sauce was great with it.

The long line moved quickly. The food was great! The pork was very tender while the broth was rich in taste. It was worth the wait and the experience.

Flavourful dish. Restaurant was crowded but service was fast. Worth a visit if you are in Seoul. Affordable price too.

If you like gamjatang, I never recommend this restaurant. The amount is small for the price and the meat on the bones is very small. Moreover, this area is a crowded area, so you have to wait.
