Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is a well-known name in Singapore, offering a peppery soup base that’s quite different from the herbal style of Malaysian Bak Kut Teh. In Malaysia, this type of soup is typically called Pig Stomach Soup. This outlet is located at Jewel, and I’m not sure if the prices here are the same as other locations outside the airport.
To avoid long queues, it’s best to arrive before the lunch rush. As a Malaysian, I didn’t find anything particularly special about the dish—back home, you can easily find more flavorful, tastier, and cheaper Bak Kut Teh. That said, if you’re a tourist, it’s worth giving it a try to experience the Singaporean take on this dish.
The service was good, with staff regularly walking around to offer free soup top-ups. The first wet tissue is complimentary, but you’ll be charged for additional ones. The portion sizes are quite small, even when ordering the large, so it’s just enough for a light lunch.
Overall, it’s a decent stop for tourists, but not particularly impressive if you’re used to the Malaysian version of Bak Kut Teh.
