"Nestled in a cute cottage-style house built in 1904, Songbird Coffee stands as a Phoenix classic that has withstood the test of time. Back when 3rd Street in Phoenix was a ghost town, Songbird was already there, serving exceptional coffee. Today, this historic gem finds itself surrounded by a bustling urban streetscape, a testament to the city’s recent evolution. The staff is some of the friendliest around, and the literal cottage-core aesthetic makes it a cozy place to get caffeinated before a day exploring downtown Phoenix." - Mcconnell Quinn

Tried this place on a friend's suggestion: its a small, cute place. I had a prickly pear lemonade, half sweet, and a egg with cheese breakfast sandwich. I did not try the coffee: the drink I had was pretty alright, not stellar but still drinkable. The sandwich was confusing: the staff told me they were kept in a fridge so I got one, then 7 minutes later I was given a warm one even though they did not say anything about warming one. Price range was higher than expected and I didn't think it matched the quality/taste. The coffeehouse is more suited for seating small groups but when big groups come in, you can feel the noise and crowdedness. The cat, Inky Spot, is very cute. An otherwise charming place.

Google
Songbird is a wonderful coffee and tea house. Situated close to Phoenix ASU, it offers wonderful coffee and tea. I have been here several times. It has the cozy atmosphere of a college town coffee house. I highly recommend the Chai Tea, hot, spicy. Inky Bob is a neighborhood staple. He is a lovely, lucky black cat who loves pets. Great place, will return.

Google
Found this place by chance! It is the cutest coffee shop I’ve ever been! Cozy feel! The front entrance feels like a quaint study. After you walk through you’ll find the coffee counter with couch and more sitting area. So cute, so cozy! Orlando took my order and was so nice, so cool! I ordered a variety of goods because they all looked so good! Couldn’t choose just one! Peanut butter cookie bomb! Coffee cake too! Blueberry white chocolate muffin a must! Vanilla almond milk latte delicious!! Not too sweet, perfect all around! I ordered an iced almond milk for my son (he’s 5 🤗) with a little caramel! Who knew it could taste so yummy!!! He loved!! Orlando was so welcoming and did I say cool?!! Came over to my sister’s dog Wallace and brought him a pup cup! I definitely had to try that too because it looked so fluffy I couldn’t resist! Highly recommend! Thank you Orlando! We will definitely be back soon!!!

Google
Stopped by on a hot summer afternoon. The shading is perfect for those who chose to sit outside. There is even a green bench swing on the porch. It's a nice green oasis that's in the center of the hustle n bustle of downtown. First time here, there was great explanation of the process and suggestions to order. I went with a Rose Iced Matcha Latte and a brown butter chocolate chip cookie. Was great to enjoy this outside even on a slightly warmer day. 10 out of 10 recommend the quality of the matcha as there was no bit or after taste. High quality, expect to see me again. Thank you

Dave

Google
Really nice iced coffee and breakfast cookie. The staff were friendly and they have a really nice atmosphere with some seating inside and a beautiful patio. It would be nice if they had more / other pastry options.

Google
Cute, cozy vibe, love anything I’ve gotten here. Iced coffee, tea, pastry. It’s all tasty and flavorful ☕️ 🥐 and I love the swing out front too. Always enjoy making a stop here when I’m in the area.

Google
Friendly staff and the oatmeal milk latte was probably the best I’ve had. When in the area, this is the place for coffees. My only recommendation would be more GF baked goods. PS- there is parking in the back, so go there first before feeding the meter. Also pet- friendly inside and out on patio.

Carousel of Douglas

Google
Wonderful service, and I really enjoy the 4 Horseman black iced tea I have ordered multiple times in the past couple days. I have enjoyed the quaint feel and excellent quality of the baristas attentiveness and tea I have enjoyed.

Yelp
In a neighborhood where coffee bars either keep closing or downgrade their service, Songbird is left as perhaps the most authentic cafe Roosevelt Row has to offer. What I love: They're consistently open early, at 6am, like a coffee shop should be. They are a comfortable third space in a world where those are dwindling, as evidenced by so many customers typing away on their laptops. My cacao nib infused cold brew wasn't what I came for, but I'm happy I tried it--it was perfect. Service is great, and I even met the owner, who was a really cool guy and deeply attentive to Songbird's sense of hospitality. If you love coffee, you MUST check this place out. There's a reason it's had so much staying power on Roosevelt!

Lauren L.

Yelp
Love this spot! Songbird is one of my favorite cafes in all of downtown phoenix. It is situated in the most quaint and adorable little home downtown. Inside is so homey, cozy, and quirky. They even have a resident black cat that hangs out by the fire place-it's very friendly too! outside also has lots of patio seating and a large swinging chair, perfect for sipping on your drink and reading a book. Have tried both their coffee and their matcha and I must say if you're a matcha lover you need to try this spot. Song bird has become my go to spot for a matcha downtown-I have tried many different matchas around town and this has got to be one of the best! Perfect spot to work, relax, and grab a drink downtown.

Bryan K.

Yelp
Adorable setting. Adorable staff. Adorable merch. The coffee is good, too. But the vibes are better.

Yelp
First time at songbird coffee and tea house, and it was such a great experience. I got their vanilla caramel latte iced and my friend got their lavender latte hot. I really liked my latte, it wasn't overly sweet, that over powered the coffee. I could get a hint of coffee with the caramel and vanilla. My friend liked his lavender latte which was one of the seasonal flavors. Songbird coffee is literally in a coffee house as the name states. It's a little off seeing the house among all the high rises downtown but that's the charm of the coffee shop. They have a big out door seating, so after we grabbed our coffee, we sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. I'll definitely be back whenever I have the urge to grab some good coffee while downtown.

Meily A.

Yelp
Very cute spot downtown. I loved their patio, great for people watching. I also like that they are pet friendly and my shy dog loved seating on the porch swing. I got the relaxing mint tea which was good. They have indoor seating and some people were working on their laptops. Also great place to read. Service was good. Would definitely come back again.

Katie C.

Yelp
cute little coffee and tea house. the ambiance is nice, they have indoor seating and a couch. outside they have a swing on their patio and table and chairs. my friend got the ice vanilla latte (4/5 stars), it was perfect sweetness while able to still taste the coffee. and it wasn't bitter. no adjustments needed to be made. ~$6 for a 12oz. i got the pomegranate mojito green tea with honey agave (1/5 stars). ~$5 for 12oz. it's not sweet at all and i had to put sweetener packets, would not recommend. more of artificial taste and i didn't taste much of the green tea or mojito sourness....

Jessica A.

Yelp
Okay, this might be questionable but this was probably the best coffee cake I've had. I don't even think they make it there but where ever it came from it's delicious and paired perfectly with my vanilla latte. Service was great, and the outdoor swing and climbing vines are so cute and quaint. There's something whimsical about this shop, makes me want to come back for more!

Jamie O.

Yelp
So obsessed with this coffee shop! Absolutely love the space and home/cottage feel in the middle of the downtown area. The barista was so nice and personable (unfortunately didn't catch their name but they wore glasses and had short curly hair) and was quick with my drink. I got a Matcha Latte and it was perfect (I'm a very harsh critic of matchas). Only issue I have is that the drink was $7 which felt a litte pricey. I asked for a small but it looks like $7 is the price for the large, despite that I don't think I was given a large. Maybe a misunderstanding, so I'm not very upset because the matcha was so good.

Christopher T.

Yelp
Historic home converted into local coffee shop. Good amount of people when I was in... Chill vibe, friendly service. Menu covers all the standards plus house made syrups. A few baked items to pick from as well. I opted for a latte. It was quite good. Espresso had good flavor and low acid. Enjoyable place. Would recommend when in DT PHX. N*joy!

Alex B.

Yelp
Like everyone else who has stepped through the door, I think this place is an absolute dream. So cozy and cute and a really nice place to spend a weekend morning. There's an outdoor patio that's dog-friendly and they open at 6am so it's cool enough to bring your pup in the warmer months. The sweet chai with oat was fantastic and I found a chair to curl and read my book in. They had a vegan scone available which was tasty if you like scones but they were out of the vegan chia seed pudding so looks like you may have to get there early to grab some! Plenty of space around 7-8am in the morning on a Saturday.

Isaac R.

Yelp
This is a cool coffee shop, it's a house but has the BEST DIRTY CHAI coffee. Spicy and can taste the coffee at the same time, their pastries are made daily and are a must-try. Great staff and a cool place to hang out and grab a coffee. They have a cat around.

Ben H.

Yelp
I can't think of many better places to grab coffee or tea on a spring afternoon. Songbird is special. It's located in a small converted home, a block south of RoRo. The outdoor patio is homey. Trees provide patio shade, and there is a small bench/swing as you enter. We were lucky enough to grab the swing. I tried the relaxing mint tea. Don't get it twisted, it was good, but what makes songbird special is its ambiance. There is exposed brick inside with seating options available. Dog friendly. I will absolutely be back.

Diana D.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop to take some me time and read a good book with some yummy coffee and a snack. Lots of comfy seats. Quiet atmosphere. Seating inside and outside. Always a little busy but there is always a comfy spot available.

Pamela R.

Yelp
Great service; amazing coffee. The vibe is perfect and they have a shop cat named inky-bob who is just the sweetest thing ever.

Naini S.

Yelp
Songbird Coffee & Tea House in Phoenix, AZ, is a delightful find that combines a relaxing atmosphere with top-notch coffee. The outdoor seating is a real treat, offering a comfortable space to enjoy Phoenix's sunny days. It's an ideal spot for both relaxation and productivity. I tried their vanilla latte and was impressed by the smoothness of the roast and the overall quality of the coffee. Prices are standard for a high-quality coffee house, and the service is exceptional, adding to the pleasant experience. Whether you're looking for a cozy place to work or just want to enjoy a great cup of coffee, Songbird Coffee & Tea House is definitely worth the visit. Highly recommended for its great vibes, quality drinks, and welcoming environment.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
LOVEEEE this spot. I needed a good coffee shop to work in and Songbird met these standards and more! The location was a bit perplexing for me to find but once I was inside I was happy enough there that I accidentally stayed until 5 mins before close. (Big faux pas!) The barista who took my order was sweet and quick. I got a Lavender vanilla oat milk latte and it was awesome. The inside is charming and nice to work in. The wifi is fast and there's seating in two different rooms. Highly recommend!

Katherine S.

Yelp
We popped in on Easter Sunday for some coffee and light bites. It was super cozy being inside the house with the rain coming down outside. Lots of seating options in each room and plenty of space on the porch. The pour-over coffee and vanilla scone were super tasty and service was friendly and quick. Would be back here to enjoy a break, read or catch-up with friends!

Lindsey G.

Yelp
Such a cute place! It feels tucked away on a downtown street in an old house. There was construction going on around the business and it's on a one way street so I parked on the street about a block away. There are lots of places to sit out front on their patio, inside there are tables and chairs in two separate rooms, and it looked like even a few more tables on the side of the building. The register is in the back of the house when you walk in from the front. I ordered an iced dirty chai and a breakfast sandwich to go. There were two options of sandwiches and you grab them from the little fridge and have them toast it up for you which takes about 10 mins. They had a variety of pasties as well. Fast and kind service and I sat on the couch with my drink as I waited for my food. I loved the cozy feel inside and it was pretty busy the whole time I was there. I took my items to go but would love to come back and meet a friend or spend some reading or working. Great local spot to grab a drink and hang out!

Alan N.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop and excellent beverages. Spent a good 3 hours here on a Sunday. There are tons of meter parking everywhere, but if you walk 2 blocks away, there is free parking. Spicy Chai! Highly recommend! I sat on the porch on the swings for 5 minutes. Healed my soul.

Jackie B.

Yelp
Stopped into Songbird while visiting Phoenix and the iced tea was exactly what I wanted during a sunny day. The location is so cute and the staff were extremely friendly. Highly recommend. Bonus: there was a cat

Liz L.

Yelp
Lovely, cozy coffee spot near Roosevelt Row. Adorably homey, situated in a tiny, old home complete with a front yard. For those with a sweet tooth, but don't over indulge, their coffees pair great with their house made syrups. I'm eager to try the pumpkin mocha syrup on my next visit.

Bryan F.

Yelp
Quaint historic home tucked in the midst of all the new high rises downtown. Coffee is great, space is limited, only because it's always so busy. Must try their coffee cake. Yummy! Please say hi to the cat, he makes the visit that much better. Four stars only because you'll have to wait quite a while for your delicious drinks.

Lynda R.

Yelp
Service and food were amazing and the Staff were fun! Dancing and singing are strongly encouraged. Highly recommend!!

R C.

Yelp
Unique looking place with decent coffee but the parking is sparce. Parking meters charge for two hours at 2.00. Makes the coffee high priced. I guess if you're a downtown yuppie you could walk there.

Zack G.

Yelp
Nice ambiance for a chill coffee shop converted from an old home. The barista area was small and a little chaotic but the espresso and specialty tea was delicious. I am a sucker for a good scone as well and it didn't disappoint. There's some seating space inside, but it is kind of small and it's a busy place. Plenty more seating outside. There is a parking lot in the back alley behind Songbird but it fills up quickly.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Cute little place with good coffee and relaxing ambiance. I prefer Xanadu coffee when I'm in the area, but this place is more reasonably priced and it is good! The service was fast and there is a little parking lot in the back.

Al P.

Yelp
I'm visiting a friend here in Arizona and we came across this place while wandering around Phoenix. I'm so glad that we did! Seriously one of the best Americanos I've ever had and the brown sugar coffee cake was to die for. The best part may have been Inky Bob, the resident cat that wanders around the place. Overall cozy, hole-in-the-wall atmosphere that anyone could feel comfortable in. I look forward to returning here next time I'm in town!

Sabine T.

Yelp
Great selection of teas, and a beautiful, cozy setting in a historic house in downtown Phoenix. As is the case for many places downtown, parking can be a bit difficult. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors.

Nicole C.

Yelp
I love that this cafe has its own parking behind. Coming into the shop itself was a little overwhelming just because it was a busy Friday morning and the line was a few people long with others who had already ordered waiting in the same area. The menu was simple to order from. We ordered a hot Nana's Mocha, iced Rosemary and the brown butter coffee cake. The Rosemary was not my preference but I did really like everything else. Sitting in the front was a vibe too. I see us coming back for another date or I'd even take my kids there too on a less busy morning.

Isabel M.

Yelp
My family and I came to Phoenix for a few days and this spot was on my list to stop at and it did not disappointed and we came twice! Such a cute small coffee shop vibes 10/10 and the staff was the main reason I had such a great experience. Don't forget to stop at this place when you're in phoenix!!

Gillian G.

Yelp
Love this cute place downtown! Service is amazing and the tea is fresh. So many options for tea lovers. Great place to catch up with friends or study.

Marjorie L.

Yelp
God this place is such a gem! The ambiance is wonderful, it's the perfect place to study, read, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy the music that they play (it's always good). They also have their own parking in the heart of downtown, which is of course a plus. Personally, I think that their matcha could be stronger, but the coffee is great! I get the vanilla oat latte. They have a huge tea selection and I love to try their featured drinks whenever they have a new selection. I just wish they had more food options! The baristas are so friendly, as well as every customer that comes in. I've had such wonderful experiences with strangers at Songbird. Not to mention, the resident cat, Inky Bob who makes your day all the more better when he makes an appearance.

Jen N.

Yelp
We have stopped by this cute coffee and tea shop a few times now. Always friendly service, and tasty cookies or breads being served. Their vanilla and sugar-free vanilla latte have always had great flavor. Yes they do have matcha lattes as well. There is a cute sitting area near the register, and tables near the front with outlets for your computer. Great vibe, with a big outside area for dog walkers to wait for their drink. Added bonus of parking in the back lot with access from the alley.

Hailey P.

Yelp
I popped in to Songbird to meet a friend who was in town and staying in the area. I've passed it for years, but never had the chance to visit! It is a cute little historic house in downtown Phoenix, serving tasty hot beverages and pastries. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk and it was yummy, although a tad sweet for my liking. I asked for half sweet, but they aren't able to adjust that due to how they make it here. I think it would be better with a shot of espresso in it to cut the sweetness! They have a small parking lot for 6-8 cars behind the building, which is amazing considering the downtown area is crazy with construction and parking is never great. I was able to snag a spot! YES! All in all, we had a great visit! I worked from here afterwards and the wifi was fast. It is small and cozy inside, so I don't recommend meeting more than 1 person here, unless you sit on their patio, which would be lovely when the weather is nice! I'd come back again when in the area.

Felonice M.

Yelp
While visiting Phoenix, I stopped in one morning for some chai tea and had a gluten-free super cookie. This place has a cool vibe it's in a house and the Sunday we were there they had some musicians playing on the patio. Definitely a good spot to grab a drink and hang out with friends.

Kassey T.

Yelp
Songbird is a peaceful, eclectic gem inside a historic house located in downtown Phoenix right next to the Farish House. The outdoor seating is what caught my eye, but they do have minimal indoor seating as well. Inside was very quiet, so I felt much more comfortable chatting with my husband outside. The baristas were friendly even though they were busy. I noticed a lot of people brought their pups, but just a note that they can't go inside. They have a ramp and door on the side of the house where you can easily order while staying with your pet though.

Errin K.

Yelp
It's my new favorite place to come in, order a drink, hunker down and get some work done! The barista remembers who I am when I walk in, and it is a very welcoming experience. I'll be back almost every day now! Love love love this place. The fact that it's in an old house makes me love it even more. It's very quaint and quiet in a walkable area close to light rail. What more could you want?

Shanita F.

Yelp
Very cute and comfortable coffee shop. They have both outdoor seating and indoor seating. The indoor seating have both tables and a high bar working space. It's also split into two rooms. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk, and I had the option of getting it spicy or mixed with both spicy and something else (that I can't remember). I recommend mixed because it was very good. They also had a super food cookie option, and I was very intrigued, so I tried it. It had these, I think, raisins and oats, along with a bunch of other stuff. I think it was like $3.25, and I don't know that I would get it again but it was fine.

Julia S.

Yelp
Located near Roosevelt Row, Songbird is easy to find with a number of parking options nearby. I came with a friend around 11am on a Saturday morning and it was fairly busy, but there was plenty of seating options. There's a couch and several tables inside, and a swing and several chairs outside. The workers were all nice, but they are busy! When I went, there was one person taking orders and making drinks, another baking in the corner, and another greeting guests. As far as the drinks go, they're pricing is comparable to other downtown coffee shops (between $3-8 with options for add-ins, substitutions, and customizations, like additional syrups, shots, alternative dairy products, and - even - CBD products). I opted for a 16 oz Iced Chai Latte (Spicy and Sweet Mix). Despite ordering it mixed, it was REALLY sweet (and I have a super sweet tooth). If I ordered it again, I'd probably go for just the spicy chai.

Greg P.

Yelp
Open very early and the freshly baked pastries are excellent!! Service was friendly and very helpful.

Lucinda N.

Yelp
It's a small place that makes the most of taking care of its customers! I love stopping by to enjoy a latte and some treats. Be on the lookout for the cute black cat. I hope you're blessed with the good luck to see it while you're there.

Cami P.

Yelp
Their chai is simply the best on the planet. I haven't lived in Phoenix in 2 years and I still haven't found chai as good anywhere else. Also apple cider w spicy chai in the fall... insane. I dream about it. Literally. It's pricey but 1000% worth it, best coffee in phx with 0 competition

Rick F.

Yelp
Love the pour-over coffee and their cold brew. Pastries are also delicious. Cozy atmosphere, nice patio, parking in the back, and great staff. Couldn't ask for more!

Kirsten H.

Yelp
Best coffee on this side of the Mississippi. Perfect place to meet up with friends or finishing up work on your laptop. Warm and friendly service, great location. I love it here!

Katrina R.

Yelp
We stopped in here on our way to a different coffee shop. (It happened to be half a block from our other destination and we were in a hurry). It's cute: it's an old house converted into a coffee shop. There was only one employee working, which kind of had me stressed about time, especially when about 10 people came in an ordered just after we had ordered. I must say, though, she had a system down. She was taking orders and cranking out drinks very efficiently-- and with a smile, which I appreciated! Coffee was tasty and my daughter enjoyed her muffin!

Joy Y.

Yelp
Perhaps my favorite coffee shop in Phoenix. Great coffee, shockingly good coffee cake (and other goodies). Supports local artists with a rotation of works on display by local artists. Supports the local stray cat (outside). Staff is always kind as is the owner who is part of and does everything she can to support the local Community.

Cassandra B.

Yelp
The iced coffee hit the spot and the coffee cake also stood out. The courtyard ambiance was perfect.

Angela H.

Yelp
A cute coffee shop nestled near the downtown Phoenix ASU and UofA campus! This place is located in a small house, and the interior has plenty of cozy seating and outlets if you're looking to study (also, free wifi!). There is a small private lot behind the building, but if you're unable to find parking there, you can also park on the street. The baristas here are really sweet and patient even though I got confused with the layout of the menu, which I really appreciated as I was initially disoriented by the layout of the shop (the baristas are located towards the back corner of the house). I got an iced latte with almond milk and lavender flavoring as well as a coffee cake. The drinks come in a 16 or 24 oz size if you need the extra caffeine fix. The coffee cake was nothing special, but I did like my latte! I could taste the lavender flavoring, but it wasn't overly sweet or overpowering. I was a little wary of adding a flavor to my drink since some places go overboard with adding the syrups, but I think Songbird does it quite well! All in all, I would come back here to study or grab some more coffee!

Daryll B.

Yelp
I stepped into the warm scene of reminiscent of a backdrop of a warm Gwendolyn Brooks poem. I could tell that this place told many stories about welcoming those who are too often not welcomed, all while preparing top notch coffee and baked goods. Songbird didn't feel overly pompous about its coffee and the barista who masterfully prepared my dark roast coffee using the pour over technique was cool as jazz. Here Black Lives Mattered, Indigenous People are valued, love who you love, be kind to the environment, and other social and political statements were celebrated and truly lived by the staff and patrons. The coffee tasted that much better because when you are treated right all seems better in the world. The exterior is so inviting looking like a writer's cottage nestled in the quietude of the forest but smack dab in the middle of the Roosevelt district of PHX. The interior reminded me of someone's hip grandmother's place with just the right amount of Kitsch without overdoing. Look at the photos on Yelp and on their website! I indulged in a slice of Brown Butter Coffee Cake! It is so good it deserves to be capitalized. I and was given the choice of corner, center, or edge pieces. Go full corner if still available. I am not sure of the calories, but it was worth every damn one! Paired with a hot pour over dark roast, all enjoyed on the huge patio with umbrella seating. I felt happy to be alive and able to enjoy. The staff was so friendly too. I requested permission to snap some photos and video for Yelp and the obliged. We had a great conversation about the coffee beans, the neighborhood, and the ethos of the place. Afterwards they even gave me a sticker as a souvenir. Songbird was the best coffee experience I have had in years. Five stars is not nearly enough!!!

Elisabeth H.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! I enjoyed the oatmilk cinnamon latte. So delicious! I will definitely go back when I'm in the area.
