The food is REALLY good and fresh and the owner is so sweet and wonderful! I went for the first time last night while visiting Taos for a week and had some questions about gluten-free options on the menu. The owner had lots of great information and options for me, which is not typical of most Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. The beef and chicken tastes really fresh and tender but not fatty or gristly. Everything is delicious and I would definitely go again!

Mia Kinder

Google
Some of the most delicious food in Taos! So nourishing and comforting after a full day on the mountain. You can really feel the love put into Song’s food and service! Highly recommend 👍👍👍🙏🏼🙏🏼

Google
Delicious food served already in to-go boxes so you don't have to ask, LOL. The woman who served us, also no doubt an owner, was sweet as can be. Very helpful and chatty. Will definitely return here next time we're in town.

Google
Good portion size. Chicken was high quality, not too much breading. Cheese wonton was some of the best I've had. Pork dumplings were delicious. A+ Chinese restaurant!

Google
Very tasty. I got take-out of the Spicy Garlic Chicken and Pork Dumplings, which were both great and had generous portions. The people were super friendly and had my order ready quickly. Like others mentioned the building is slightly shabby, but the interior is nice and the food more than makes up for it. Overall a satisfying meal after a long week, glad I went here.

Google
Song’s very much exceeded my expectations. Large portions, super flavorful food, lots of vegetarian and vegan options, and the owner was lovely. Ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce, kung pao tofu and vegetable lo mein. All super tasty. The inside could use a bit of freshening up/modernizing, and the outside could use better signage (right now it just has a sign that says “Chinese restaurant”).

Google
Quite possibly the worst take out experience I have ever had. First, u can’t just order takeout, they need an hour. She said she’d call me back. After an hour and 15 min, I went back and it still wasn’t quite ready. So after an hour and 25, you’d expect some great Chinese…NO, my warrior chicken was cut into huge chunks, no breading like the pic and looked to be dyed red. My daughter’s shrimp lomein was inedible and the Ramen was horrible. The only thing we really ate was the wontons. My wife spent the whole night on the hopper!

My boyfriend and I tried this place on our vacation in Taos to have something different for dinner. It’s your average Chinese restaurant. It’s more of a take out spot versus dining in. Its very sparse inside like uncomfortable vibe. I did enjoy the handmade steam dumplings though. The food portions are standard sizes to other Chinese restaurants. Service- very friendly, nice, and understanding. For example they were out of something and they provided us something different to make up for it.

Yelp
First time customer and the garlic chicken and egg rolls were spectacular, as was the owner Connie, who just nailed down two regular customers with her friendly smile and great customer service. Highly recommend!

Beverly W.

Yelp
The best red Thai curry chicken I've ever had! The chicken is the tenderest chicken you will ever eat. I asked for medium spice and it seems to be standard and it was just perfect for me. A nice kick and a nice tingle after your meal. We split it and it was enough for two. The spring rolls were freshly made, and the dipping sauce that is in housemate is really hot so be careful. But it's really really yummy. The rolls are very crispy which I like in the insides are nice and cooked. You can eat there but you have the same type of experience as you would at home with takeout food. It isn't a Regular restaurant so I know that if that's what you want. But you can sit down and eat your meal. They were very busy on Wednesday evening. Every time we drive-by it has a lot of cars. You can tell they have really good food just by the outside. We spoke to both the owners and they are lovely people. I believe her name is Connie, but I didn't get his. Your cook is a very, very nice man. I hope you get a chance to say hello to both of them.

Ben D.

Yelp
Excellent noodles. Surprised by the high quality of the food. Don't let the look of the place fool you. Hidden gem.

E M.

Yelp
Ordered pad Thai, orange chicken, and chicken fried rice. Pad Thai was made with flat noodles and a brown sauce and bell peppers (no limes either). There were peanuts, but the sauce was all wrong, and no shrimp as advertised. Don't advertise this as pad Thai please. Was not bad, but was not great. And don't order expecting a quick turn around. Quoted 45 minutes, got the food closer to the hour mark.

Estevan A.

Yelp
This is the perfect little Chinese restaurant! The service is excellent! A kind waitress was extremely attentive and funny. The food was nostalgic of the Chinese restaurants I went to as a kid and they had plenty of vegan options. I will come back each time I'm in Santa Fe!

Bob J.

Yelp
Connie is the owner and the waitress. No other waitstaff. If it's crowded she'll let know how long of a wait. No problem. Very good food. Recommend the Pad Thai.

Lisa J.

Yelp
After so much delicious Mexican food we were craving something different. We got several dishes to take out and it was fresh, very good and they even gave us complimentary pot stickers. Yum!

J J W.

Yelp
I guess nobody eats in anymore. I do. They let me sit where I wanted and served me in to go containers. I don't mind. It was still really enjoyable chilling in here with my hot, hot and sour soup. The lady here is really sweet and the food was great. I also got Kung pao chicken. Def recommend coming here and getting some really good food!!

Johnnny K.

Yelp
Oh my God everything here is so good don't be freaked out by the appearance of the building First time I went in there wasn't a soul in the place there was no AC so it was really hot I kinda got weirded out and left. Couple of the times I've gone by parking lot has been packed so I thought I'd give it a try and it is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to it's so good the owner is so precious what a nice lady!! Like I said everything is excellent if you don't know what to get have her recommend you the house specialties and you won't be disappointed I've been here on a fire assignment for 60 days and I've probably eaten there about twice a week and have not got tired of it. Support these wonderful people and their business they deserve it

Jibran K.

Yelp
We are from Houston, so if any of you Texans are reading this, move along! and just go get some Mexican food. Houston has great Chinese and Thai restaurants, so we know what good Chinese food tastes like. The owner is fantastic! She came and cleaned our table for a second time since the last person didn't do it right. She made great conversation and has a very likable personality, maybe that's the reason why people come back? The place was very outdated, musty look and feel. Try not to touch or lean on anything while you are there. I kept telling myself, good food is definitely possible in hole in the wall places. I read reviews here and decided on their famous Egg Foo Young (which i thought was vegetarian?!, it was on the special menu with no description anywhere to be found), Kung Pao chicken and cheese puffs. People said to avoid Thai food here so i didn't get the Pad Thai which i was initially eyeing. Egg Foo Young was drenched I mean like a friggin waterfall of brown sauce with EVERYTHING in it, it had beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables just overwhelmed in the sauce. I didn't like the sauce and thats all you could taste on top of everything. Not to mention $18 for that. The kung pao and cheese puffs were lacking as well, I have had much better. I can see why people may like this place, because there isnt much choice in Taos, NM.

Shannon W.

Yelp
Amazing Chinese food! We don't have this kind of Chinese food in Dallas so I was so happy when we discovered Song's last year. Now it's an annual thing we do when we're in town. Everything is good but the classics (ie sesame chicken) are awesome. They don't serve alcohol as an fyi and takeout is the way to go.

Benjamin T.

Yelp
Delicious food and amazing service! They were very friendly, definitely stop by if you're in town.

Aurora F.

Yelp
Mongolian Beef and Bokchoy. Both taste really good. They offered us free dumplings because it was a traditional Chinese festival yesterday.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Food is flavorful. Service is great! Plenty of vegetarian options. Reasonable prices. If you're in Taos looking for a quick delicious dinner, this is the place.

Robyn R.

Yelp
Excellent service, very friendly, get to know you personally and your favorite dishes. Great place for families or gatherings of friends. Good food!

Post C.

Yelp
It was a surprisingly cold day here in Taos and we wanted to get some comfort food and hot soup. We got so much more. Connie was absolutely amazing, friendly and fun. Our orders came out perfectly and better than we expected. The dumplings were like none we've ever had, they were amazing and kept the authenticity only found in traditional recipes. We will definitely make sure to come back with each Taos visit!

Eric B.

Yelp
OK, here we go. First don't order anything but Chinese here. If you know better, you will be dismayed. If you don't know better, wait until you can eat at a Thai, Vietnamese, or Sushi stand-alone restaurant. This place is trying to be all things to all people and I think they need to consolidate their menu. I don't have to even try the other non-Chinese dishes. The other Yelpers have written as much. Read the reviews. Not pretty. Thai Curry is an easy dish to make so maybe that would work. Sushi? Are you crazy? I had the Spicy Garlic Chicken and it was VERY GOOD. I had to petition for some rice which was part of the order and a no-brainer. Just a mistake and the server apologized. I appreciated that. Now, the pot stickers needed some better cooking technique. They were crispy like fortune cookies. Not cool. Plus, the sauce never showed up. Shoot, even I know how to cook potstickers. First steam them and then cook in a pan with a little oil to brown them. Somebody has to watch some YouTube vids or at least read the directions on the side of the bag, yo. Last, the Hot and Sour soup was also a no show. The server, to her credit, owned up for that. I surmise she is new and doing her best. As long as she is honest, then I can handle that as an error vs. issuing some moral commentary and invective. So, it was a dysfunctional meal to a degree but the Spicy Garlic Chicken was the main attraction and it carried the day. There is room for improvement but this turned out well despite my ahead of time misgivings about Pan-Asian joints and the service which was in need of some rectification.

Shannon J.

Yelp
Friendly. Affordable. Incredibly tasty. Follow the locals and you'll be well fed and have a smile on your face.

Talia B.

Yelp
We have ordered something different every time and all the dishes have been amazing! The spring rolls didn't even make it home! Such nice people and great food!!

Lisa P.

Yelp
My son and I come here often. Food is delicious and authentic. There's not too many people there at any one time but that is why I like it. The atmosphere is quiet and you can enjoy your meal and conversation. The owners/staff are always so nice. Side note: Yes the building is older, but "musty"? No. The good thing is I'm here for the food not the architecture.

Juliette N.

Yelp
Very nice person at reception, dealing with the stream of to-go-only orders. But the food was very disappointing. Nothing tasted right. Two out of three dishes were inedible - how can you mess up hot and sour soup or fried rice? Mostly I would say everything was incredibly sweet, way too much so

Jacob S.

Yelp
Good food, GREAT service. The owner is one of the sweetest women I've ever met. Super reasonable pricing as well. Exactly what you want for takeout Chinese.

ray r.

Yelp
Nice lady but I threw away food after about 3 or 4 bites. I sympathize with them about labor but I'd rather pay more and be able to eat the food.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Owners are very kind and considerate! Mongolian beef is good. Dumplings are extraordinary.

Eric E.

Yelp
I swung by this place because it was on the few places open at the time. But the food was excellent, I prefer my food overly seasoned but it wasn't that it was a comfortable meal so great for everyone else. Don't let looks decisive you this is a great spot.

B-funk D.

Yelp
We recently had some terrible Chinese Asian take in white rock, so bear this in mind After a day of skiing we ordered a bunch of stuff from Songs. The spicy eggplant was excellent, the Korean stir fry was very spicy, and the Pho was Pho. Their selection is wide and I wished we ate in since there were several specials and sushi. Definitely worth reheating at breakfast and eating in the sparsely equipped Taos Valley Lodge breakfast area

Laura G.

Yelp
Two exceptional qualities of Song's restaurant is her appreciative nature for being in Taos and her generous servings. Her unique an authentic dishes are exceptional. She told me that of all towns in New Mexico, Taos is the best because of the kind community spirit. You feel good.

Kevin P.

Yelp
So good! Lots of vegan options, always fresh and delicious! Super nice people as well.

Tara T.

Yelp
This was unexpectedly one of the best Chinese food meals I've had, we were not planning on eating Chinese in Taos but most restaurants closed early and we decided just to get Chinese and take it back to our hotel, it turned out to be a great plan. First wonderful helpful service, excellent food and large portions. I recommend!!!

Holly H.

Yelp
This spot was open for carry out during Covid. The location looks a little divey, but the employee working was very helpful & friendly. We ordered several dishes including egg drop & hot & sour soup. The egg drop was a nice savory traditional flavor and the hot and sour soup was SPICEY (in a good way). The meal tasted good and met expectations for Chinese takeout. If you're in the mood for Chinese food this will hit the spot!

Steven B.

Yelp
I had the Vietnamese Pho soup and loved it. The staff and cook are extremely nice people. Loved it...!!!

deborah r.

Yelp
Great restaurant!! Lots of small restaurants look rickety here in Taos but the food and service is fantastic!! We had jasmine hot tea, pan fried noodle with chicken, beef and shrimp and wonton soup long with steamed dumplings. Everything fresh, hot, tasty!! You would do well to eat here. Open 4-9pm. We got there at 4:05 and by 5 pm they were busy inside as well as multiple takeouts.

Lux L.

Yelp
Songs Cafe is the best Chinese in Taos. They were kind enough to take our order even though their kitchen closed 15mins prior to when we called. The beef is so chewy and the chicken was very tasty!

Abi S.

Yelp
The owner is a sweet woman who is incredibly accommodating and genuine. My boyfriend and I spoke with her multiple times throughout the meal and were able to learn about her son, her time in China, and her life here in Taos. It was awesome to connect with her - felt more homey than a chain or grab and go Chinese restaurant. As far as the food goes, everything was prepared very well - we licked our plates clean. It was just a solid, delicious, affordable meal. I don't normally enjoy Chinese food as usually too salty, sugary or sopping in grease. The egg rolls here were perfect - thin and crispy filled with well seasoned veggies. The shrimp lomein was wonderful as well - had enough seasoning but wasn't swimming in soy sauce. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. We'll definitely be back!

Anna A.

Yelp
Stopped by for takeout since indoor dining was closed due to COVID. We ordered the sesame chicken, spicy garlic stir fry chicken, and beef with broccoli. It was pretty good and portions were big. We are from out of town visiting Taos, so we did not get to try any of the other items on the menu. The lady that work there was super friendly and nice. I would go back

Turk M.

Yelp
Not quite the kind of place I envisioned having Thanksgiving breakfast....bot it's delicious and they are so freaking friendly!!! This will be a regular for me!!! Considering this doesn't gave a Denny's or even an ihop....

Lorenzo S.

Yelp
First time at Song's taking my Mom and we had a great lunch. We both ordered the red curry special combo with shrimp, chicken, and beef, along with steamed rice. It comes spicy but it wasn't overwhelming. Staff is very friendly and inviting. Portions that arrived were too big to finish, stuffed with plenty of protein and vegetables. Mom took half home for dinner. I made my best effort but was stuffed. The red curry sauce was delicious. For the price, it's a great meal. Being the first time in a Asian restaurant in Taos, this was a great start. Atmosphere is quiet and roomy. View out of shaded front windows is westward toward the Paseo. The place has a large deck which I figure in summertime can seat more tables. Overall, great food and good prices. A welcome change from other, often overpriced eateries in the area.

Zane M.

Yelp
We stopped here for take-out. The gentleman taking care of us (Nelson?) asked if we were staying in a hotel. We were, so he gave us plates, napkins, utensils, etc... Waiting for our food, he brought out crisp noodles and sauce...very nice and welcome touch. We discussed the (lack of) snow in Ski Valley, especially compared to this time last year. Getting back to the hotel, we found the food very good, and considerable quantities. We had Egg Rolls, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Chinese Lo-Mein with tofu (substitution), Wanton, Hot and Sour and Egg Drop Soups. The hotel has a fridge and microwave. The carry out is all in microwave safe boxes...all set!

Hailey J.

Yelp
I love this place. The plates are HUGE, which I am not going to complain about. The salad that they serve is off the hook. Always order the salad. It's a chill, sweet little spot run by really nice people. LOVE this place.

Jan F.

Yelp
We moved to Taos Ski Valley this year and we love eating in or having takeout. The food is amazing. We have tried about everything on the menu. I can't say I have a favorite dish because I like them all. The price is right and the staff is very friendly. We will continue to go back.

Ellen G.

Yelp
I was a bit leery of the price of the Egg Foo Young but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food. There was so much good stuff too; shrimp, pork, chicken and veggies. I was able to get three meals from it. The best part was how great it tasted. The first thing I noticed besides the huge serving was that it didn't look like the normal Egg Foo Young I've gotten from restaurants around the country. This is a good thing and reflects its authenticity. If the dish looks like it does from most "fast food" Asian restaurants than it's coming from pre-made cans and food vendors that are bought by the restaurant. Song's is being made from scratch. Definitely worth the price.

David L.

Yelp
Please source better beef. The Mongolian beef I ordered tasted different than normal. Seasonings were right and it had a good kick but I couldn't even finish it. I hope it's a Covid lapse. Very disappointing.

Mike D.

Yelp
Was very delicious and once I saw the portions I knew they were singin my song lol. Tasty and good quality as well.

Hannah B.

Yelp
Worth it. The waitress Connie was so personable and knowledgeable with her recommendations. The food is so fresh great food here! Excellent Pad Thai and I don't eat curry but the others with our party loved it! It's not exactly China Town in San Fran but hey! It's good! The 6 and 4 year old children had sweet and sour chicken with the sauce on the side and devoured the plenty soft excellent flavorful chicken. We had the sauce with our egg rolls. Our party of 8 had so much food. And it was very reasonably priced.

Steven S.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town, stopped by here and ate an early dinner and tried their Spicy LA Orange Chicken, so yummy and crispy. Not breaded at all like most orange chicken. Highly recommend trying it.

Bobbi P.

Yelp
Highly recommend! I'm going to go ahead and start this by saying I've eaten at MANY Asian restaurants and this is one of THE best! Their sauces are deliciously homemade and not from a bottle, the meat and vegetables were of a very good quality and fresh. The server was friendly and attentive . The owner is very friendly as well and knowledgeable of vegan needs which I'm discovering to be quite rare. My family of four's order consisted of orange chicken, chicken fried rice, Kung Pao beef, egg drop soup, Rangoon, and my vegan daughter had a special custom made to order vegan chow mein with tofu dish. I will be back!!

Stephen O.

Yelp
At a small town, even though is close to ski resort, i can' t complaint much. The Chinese dishes are alright and the fish sauce brinjal is great. my favorite.

Trevor M.

Yelp
Just wanted to say, I miss you wonderful people! I cannot wait to come and eat at Songs soon! I hope you guys remember me, thank you again, for the Green Tea Ice Cream on our last visit.

Dee W.

Yelp
My fiancé and I just moved here about three months ago, and we've been making a point to get acquainted with the local dining scene. We gorged ourselves on Mexican food during the first few weeks and quickly burned out on it. (I don't care if I ever get asked "red or green" again. ) Thank goodness there are awesome non-Mexican options here! We truly enjoyed our dinner at Song's. We were one of only two tables of people on a Sunday night and were thinking all throughout the meal what a shame it was that the place wasn't packed. Seriously fresh, delicious, fast, and reasonably priced! We even talked to the owner for a while and could tell she takes pride in her restaurant. We will be back.
