Sonny's Patio Pub and Refuge

We found Sonny's on a Friday evening whilst exploring Germantown area. Our server was welcoming and came across really friendly. We ordered a couple of beer flights (great way to try a few new ones) and had the nachos with chicken. Both were good. Never went back on our trip though. Something about the vibe (possibly their choice of music and accompanying video's) that just sat wrong with me.

We found this spot and decided to try it out so we could beat the heat with our dog in tow. It's hard to travel with pets when hardly and restaurants are fur baby friendly. The old fashion with Woodford Reserve hit the spot that I needed and let me relax while we looked over the menu. The food came quickly and was hot. My daughter ordered their version of chicken nuggets and came out as huge chunks of perfectly prepared chicken bites. There were games and activities outside for the kids to play, and the bathrooms were so clean. This is a hidden gem in the middle of the city.

The best thing about Sonny's is the atmosphere and outdoor setup. The service is definitely better than many other places in Nashville. The food has a lot to be desired though. It's the most basic bar food and your side option is tater tots.... The price is asking a lot for a rather mediocre bar.

The server was super kind, very professional, and willing to help. My husband and I really appreciated how he explained all the menu items we questioned, and he truly did not have to. I complimented his hat and asked it they sold them in store. I believe he went above and beyond to find one at the end of our meal. It was a stressful trip as I had a medical appointment the next day, and he truly made our night. We will be back next time we come to Nashville. Thank you so much! The food was great, exactly how we ordered it, and I found out I liked things I didn't think I would. Thanks again, Sonny's!

We came here for brunch, so my opinions are strictly limited to my brunch experience: The good things: - Staff is super awesome. Brady was helping us and wanted to give him a shout out. He was just extraordinary. Also, we took our own sweet time to finish our lazy brunch but he didn’t rush us. - location is convenient, plenty of street parking available. Food comes fast. - side of potatoes was really good. Didn’t work for me: - Avocado toast was really bad. Large chunks of red onions and tomatoes were on the avocado toast and the mashed avocados had lime in it. It was like a bad guacamole on toast. - they didn’t have espresso. Neither did they have oat milk or soy milk or even 2% milk. Just the packaged creamer and brewed coffee was what got served to me. I understand most people go for their margarita flight for brunch but I wouldn’t completely overlook the coffee department specially during brunch hours. - for avocado toast that costs $12+ I’d at least include two toasts, which is standard across all brunch places. Unless the toast is fully loaded which it was not. Overall, it seemed like a cool place to hang out at night; the brunch scene just didn’t vibe with me.

We rented the clubhouse for a event June 27 2025.. The food, bar and atmosphere and employees were excellent!! Maecie was so good to work with while planning. We aren’t locals so thought would be difficult to do by email and phone but she made it very easy! Marvin I think was the manager that night and he was excellent. Can’t say enough good about this experience!!

We went to Sonny’s around 5-ish on a sunny day, and it was already pretty busy—which honestly just added to the fun vibe. We grabbed a spot outside in one of the cabanas, and it was perfect. Super relaxed, great atmosphere, and a nice mix of people hanging out. The staff was friendly, and everything came out quick even with the crowd. It’s a solid spot if you’re looking to enjoy a nice day with good drinks and chill company.

Were traveling and this has been my favorite stop! Very dog friendly, kid friendly, and tons of activities to keep a toddler entertained. Our server was Noah and he was amazing! Will be coming back everytime I find myself in Nashville

We love coming to Sonny's! Every Monday with Caid doing trivia is the highlight of our week!!! Sonny's is such a fun environment! Brunch on the weekends can get crazy fun with DJs and they also have sweet drink deals! The wait staff are so kind! And always remembers us! Love M&M

I occasionally visit this place to watch sports and have previously watched boxing here. Recently, I came with a friend to catch a boxing match. We ordered food and settled in, but when we politely asked the bartender to switch the TV in front of us to boxing, she brought over a manager. The manager informed us that they had to turn off both TVs because they don't show "violent sports." At first, I thought it was a joke, but they were dead serious. They still show hockey, just not boxing or UFC. If I'd known this policy, I wouldn't have ordered any food. The management was more offended than apologetic. I won't be returning.

This is a fine place. Pros: lots of different seating options from bar seating to booths to picnic tables so they can accommodate larger groups. There's a nice stage area where I'm guessing they have live music sometimes. When I was there, they had karaoke. It's cute as well, tons of photo opportunities if that's your thing. Now my main issue, which I think is most important with a restaurant: the food. Overpriced and bland. Brisket tacos: 1/5. I have nothing positive to say sadly. Tortillas were uncooked and dry. The brisket wasn't tender or flavorful as good brisket should be, which was especially disappointing in Tennessee. I tried my friends tator tots which were pretty good so there's a saving grace. Our server was nice at least. But I likely won't be coming back here.

Great atmosphere and delicious food! The patio area is very nice with lots of game options and even shaded!

Really overpriced for what you get. We ordered the truffle Parmesan tots which for $11 you think you'd get a reasonably sized portion but it came with about 6 tots? The margarita flight is also basically juice. The service is great though!

WOW- such a fun night! I was invited out by some friends and I almost declined due to crazy weather, but I am so happy I decided to come. Service was awesome but I have to really highlight why we came: Trivia Night. It was SO good. This was my first trivia night here and I will be back. The host has great humor, the pace was perfect, and our entire group loved it. We will be back!!

Friendly neighborhood bar type place where customers are welcome to bring their dogs on the patio and they have lots of games like cornhole, etc. It's basically the kind of local place every neighborhood should have. The southern jam burger was tasty and had a habanero bacon jam I had never tried before. It was a good combo of sweet and spicy that balanced each other out well. It went well with a side of tots and a couple local beers. Service is very friendly and casual, they aren't rushing you at all here but they're very attentive. We sat on the patio (as did most others) on a warm and sunny evening but they do have inside seating as well. I'd come back here if I was in the area and would recommend checking it out. If I lived near here, I'd probably be a regular.

Went for Sunday brunch, arrived early so it wasn't at all busy. Our server was FANTASTIC and the weather was perfect so we sat outside on the porch. Started with the mimosa flight, which was a fun way to switch up the go-to brunch drink. Then went for the breakfast tacos which were so good. If you're picking between the sausage and bacon, the sausage actually has more flavor. Both are good though.

This is a decent place to go for groups. The food is overpriced for what you get though and the parking is hit or miss. The patio is nice during spring and summer and is dog friendly but it's not the best restaurant in the area.

During our recent visit during happy hour, we encountered an issue with our bill. We ordered a full order of the "crack dip," but when it arrived, the portion seemed small. I asked the bartender if it was the full order, and she said it was the happy hour size. However, when we received our bill, we were charged the full price. Upon further inquiry, the bartender then stated that it was actually the full order and that happy hour only includes half orders. This discrepancy between what we were told and what we were charged led to confusion and an overcharge on our bill. We hope this issue can be addressed to prevent future misunderstandings.

I've been waiting to try Sonny's and their hosting of NTS lgbtq night was the perfect occasion! I arrived 30 minutes before show time and managed to get a table reservation in and sat within that time! Great hosting and even more attentive service. We were given seats close to the stage and were delighted by the "Beyoncé" fans that offered a breezy cool ambience. Our server gave us great recommendations and was even able to ask for mock tails for us. The flight of beer was a great way to enjoy different drafts and the flatbread was delicious. One small thing if I could, is parking validation. It'd be nice to save on that next time! Street parking is available but you may need to know how to parallel park. (I know this isn't Sonny's responsibility) but worth mentioning . Can't wait to come back and hang out on the patio

Came by with my family on a Monday night for trivia. Our server was attentive and nice, and the outdoor patio area was really cute. I'd like to come back in the summer to enjoy it more! The food options were limited with no real vegetarian options. What we did try was average and portions were small, I think a big menu update would help this place a lot. Our biggest issue was with the trivia host- he was really obnoxious and not at all funny. The bar had a very awkward atmosphere whenever he tried to make a weird joke and it flopped. A new menu and a new trivia host would serve this space well

Solid drink specials, decent beer and spirit selections, and pretty solid appetizers/munchies. Pet friendly and outdoor backyard vibes in the non-frigid months. Decent free neighborhood parking options as well. Prices are fair. I'd have more to say if this was my neighborhood bar or a go-to, but it's not in my regular rotation. I have enjoyed my few times popping by, though.

Sonny's is one of my favorite day drinking spots! Reserve a cabana for a large group. Food is always a hit and the service is super quick here

My wife and I went to Sonnys last night for their Monday night trivia and boy oh boy did we have fun . The atmosphere was very casual and our server was quick and friendly. I got the OG smash burger with tots and let me tell you, hands down one of the best burgers in Nashville. The highlight of the evening, however, was the nerd talk trivia. The host was super friendly, funny and engaging. The night went by in a blur of laughter, drinks, and really good food. It's without a doubt our groups new favorite Monday night hang. 10 out of 10

Fun bar with great drink specials. Only issue is there beer selection is the worst: both draft and bottle.

Nice place in Germantown to grab a drink and some food. They have nice outdoor booths (WITH FANS) or picnic tables that are good for large groups, as well as indoor seating and bar seating. I love any place that has outdoor seating, alcohol, and games, and they delivered on all three; there are a bunch of Jenga sets scattered around, two corn hole sets, large connect four, and darts. We got the asian fried pork belly appetizer, the smoked brisket sandwich (comes with tots!), and a couple drinks. They have excellent ranch (none of that awful Hidden Valley ish) We went on a Thursday evening, and there was a live band indoors; while they were good, the music was blasting and we had to yell to have a conversation. Normally, this would be fine, but it seemed out of place because it was a low-key night. I don't know shit about sports, but they had quite a few TV screens and it seems like a fun place to watch a game! Our server was super nice, fast, and attentive!

Came here to watch the game and was pleasantly surprised as to how big the venue was. Multiple rooms with several seating options. Food and beer selection was really good and reasonably priced. I had the brisket sandwich and tater tots, which was great outside of a few fattier pieces of brisket I had to pick out. I wasn't mad about it though as it comes with the territory sometimes in eating brisket and overall the brisket was cooked well and flaky just like Texas style. My only knock on this place was the game was on, but they opted to keep the music on instead, which was a bit too loud, and the music selection that night wasn't the best. Overall, great place to kill a few hours with friends and I'll definitely be back. Oh yeah, and the ranch is phenomenal.

Best place to be on a Sunday in Nashville. Drinks and service are amazing. Vibes are perfect. Got the burger and nachos as well and both were average but you don't need anything special anyway with the atmosphere and drinks. The staff was so helpful and friendly. They put very football game we wanted on three separate TVs right in from of us. I will 1000% be back.

Great bar, great food, but can get a little loud. Service was as fast and friendly as can be on a busy Saturday!

What a great surprise! We don't venture to Germantown often and decided on brunch here on a whim. This place is cool! Super friendly staff, dog friendly, family friendly... and the food is really great. The Parmesan truffle tots are incredible and all of our entrees were really tasty. We will definitely be back!

My only complaint about this place is that there's nowhere to get a drink and then go hang out. You have to have a table in order to do so. With it having a game area, I feel like on a weekend night, you should be able to order a drink at the bar and then go play the games. Other than that, the food is delicious, the drinks are great, the games are fun, and a bonus- the guy who does trivia on Monday nights (Cade) is hilarious and great at his job!

I will reiterate my last review a year ago. The smoked wings and salads w ranch- ARE A MUST. I got Magical Dry Rub, as I've decided that is the best flavor. Do not order wings to-go. We've done that a couple times and it negates the benefits of having a smoked and flash fried wing. Eaten at the restaurant, they are super crispy outside and juicy inside.... Perfection. For salad, I got the Cobb w ranch and added a side of avocado ranch. The ranch here is better than crack. Seriously, I drenched my salad in it and it made me so happy. This 100% satisfied my pregnancy craving that I drove 30mi for! Lastly, the service is still fantastic. Bruce & Mike are awesome - super nice and informative. Sonny's is still one of my absolute favorites in Nashville!

Great local place!! Food is always good and the staff are amazing! We come every Monday for trivia with Cade and he's the best host in Nashville. The outside patio on weekends is always the best vibe. Couldn't recommend this place more!! Get the sweet potato tots! They're the best. Brunch on the weekends is also very yum

I really lived visiting Sonny's! We went in December when it's decorated for the holidays and it looked great. Indoor/outdoor seating, space heaters, and covered areas made it comfortable no matter where you were. Delicious and decently priced cocktails from their seasonal menu. Nice service, no complaints there. I want to to back for brunch!

Great atmosphere. Dog friendly. A little something for everyone. Open air for much of the bar. Hidden secret bar in the back corner. Definitely go there for the pre-famous show on Saturdays. Their own bar, great service, food available. It has its own bathroom that is very clean.

Overall: I really wanted to love this place. Food: My dining partner ordered the Cowboy Burger, he said it was very good. I ordered a caesar salad; for $10 I expected a little more than a days old, small portion of wimpy lettuce and pre shredded parmesan cheese. I would have been much better off buying a prepackaged salad kit from Kroger and eating at home. My dining partner got his entree, a water, and two beers before I even received my first water. Ambiance: The vibe was cool, we loved the outdoor area, and the playlist was great. Everything else, not so much.

I stumbled upon Sonnys on a Sunday when I had no plans and I would def go back here when the weather is warmer to enjoy all the games! Really friendly bartenders, fast service and great quick easy food ready to be served. I got the pretzel bites, which were very good. I also got the Cobb salad to go, but the chicken wasn't cooked & they added cucumbers & carrots which wasn't mentioned on the menu. I just easily removed those items & the salad was very good. I love the ranch dressing. I'll def be back here!

Love coming here after kickball!! It gets a bit packed on the weekends but decent food and good drinks! Great outdoor patio area if you can find a spot

I have mixed feelings about Sonnys. Overall I've had great experiences, my only two complaints are 1. sometimes the band is too loud and it's hard to talk with you're table and 2. The food is very average. Drinks are the way to go, i like their loaded tots but other than that it was just average. I love the atmosphere with inside and outdoor seating, lots of games, and love music. The service is always so friendly, the staff is young and has a lot of energy. Super dog friendly too!!

Love this place! It's got a friendly neighborhood vibe type of feel. Seems like a great place to catch live music, meet up after work or for a date night. It was a bit loud due to the live band but that was what I came for and was highly entertained! Got the Cobb Salad with couple glasses of bubbly on tap. Yum! This is not your average Cobb. It had lots of delicious prices of crispy pork belly they refer to as "pork belly crotons" I could have eaten more than 2 of the house made deviled eggs that were on top. I'm going to see if they offer those alone on the menu next time. Prices are great and the staff was super friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Recently visited for a group mixer. It was lots of fun. The outside patio has turf inside of grass so my allergies were only half way acting up. The servers were great to everyone in the organization. Loved the mood swing. So many places for cute photos. I missed having a piano bar so seeing they had that option was also a plus. Great place for a summer group to hang out and still social distance from others.

Great local bar! There is plenty of outdoor space with a few optional games outside like cornhole. Caban's for large groups and Fridays there's local karaoke. Great for happy hours as well as their margarita flights (as pictured).

I recently came here for my boyfriend's birthday because he wanted to try a new restaurant for the day. I made the reservation, and our table was ready when we got there. The food and drinks was good, and the service was fast. The only negative would be how loud it was inside. You have to almost yell to have a conversation. Other than that, I had a great experience!

Make a point to come here! Just a bit off the main drag of Broadway, this place is a MUST when in Nashville. We came on a Tuesday night as we heard about an "open mic" accompanied by The Pitch Meeting Band, and what an all around great experience! Food was tremendous (get the tots!), drinks were magically delicious, and the music was out of this world. To hear up-and-coming artists in such an intimate venue, minus the drunken tourists, is such a welcomed treat. And the owner, Ian, even came by to introduce himself and welcome us. Come to Sonny's when you are In Nashville, especially on Tuesdays! You will have such a memorable experience!

Brought friends from out of town for lunch after reading the reviews. Server was friendly but slow and not very attentive. Wings were good for appetizer, server brought 5 plates for 7 people......Burgers were only ok and they were out of all flatbreads. We were there over an hour before our meals came, partly because our server waited so long to take our order. Had to ask multiple times for drinks and water never got refilled. Tots were good but never got ketchup despite asking for it twice. It wasn't very busy when we were there, can't imagine how bad service would have been if they were busy. Wanted to like this place but probably wouldn't go back.

Came here for brunch on Sunday while visiting from NY. The atmosphere was great and they had reasonably priced food and great margarita flights. Our server was a short girl with dark brown hair and she was phenomenal! Would definitely return with a larger group to hangout and play the patio games.

We live exactly one block from Sonny's and have loved this place from the day it opened. There is something about the vibe that is so happy and friendly--you feel good the moment you walk in the door. There is indoor and outdoor space, and dogs are welcome. There are daily happy hours and specials, and the one time we attended the Tuesday singer/songwriter night, we were blown away and never wanted to leave! One thing--we love food, and the more we come to Sonny's the more disappointed we become with the food. We keep coming back for the atmosphere and specials but if the food could be brought up a notch, it would be a killer combination!

Good outdoor bar for larger groups. We went on a Sunday afternoon and were able to reserve one of the cabanas. They are very dog friendly and have a ton of yard games. The service however was pretty slow, and the restaurant wasn't packed at all. We had to get up and grab our server inside a few times. Food is about what you would expect. The pretzel bites are a must every time and so good. Chicken tenders were crispy and the honey mustard was great. The wings had great flavor but were pretty over cooked.

We stayed in an Airbnb right next door to this restaurant. It looked like a fun spot so we decided to stop in for drinks and an app. It was a super chill seat-yourself-type spot. They had awesome humongous TVs all over to watch the games. They also had those garage doors that open up to an outdoor patio area adorned with string lights, heaters, and fire pits! It looked like they had a little stage inside for live music which would've been awesome. We got the crack dip as our app. It was really good! Served cold with crispy, freshly salted tortilla chips. Great size portion and perfect chip to dip ratio. We also got some drinks. They're beer menu was limited, but what they did have was really good. I'm a stout girl and unfortunately they don't have any of those on the menu right now. Service was really great. Our waiter was so nice and efficient in taking care of us. It felt like a really home-y place. Overall we really enjoyed our little stop in this Pub!! I would definitely recommend it!

Very delicious apps and drinks! Fun environment and lots of game options, darts, corn hole, connect 4, and more. They host trivia nights and have live music from time to time. Only 4 stars because it can be VERY crowded and hard to get service, but that's good for them I guess!?

Sonnys is a great place to hang out with friends or meet up after work. You're bound to catch live music, trivia on weekdays, and there's games as well in the outside lawn area. For private parties, there's cabanas for your group to sit and drink/ eat. We had a sample of the tacos and all were bland or meat/ fish were overcooked. Overall, I would come back for the atmosphere but not the food.

I really wish when we were here it wasn't an oven outside. We relaxed inside with reasonably priced drinks and tater tots, which were perfectly cooked. If it didn't feel like the 5th layer of hell outside we might have been able to enjoy one of their picnic table areas or partake in cornhole, giant jenga, or giant connect 4. It looks like it would be a great place to watch a game as well. If you're in the area and the weather isn't baking you, stop by Sonny's for a drink and games.

Omgosh! Such a good time! I left there very..., happy I'll say that! We had the margarita flights! We didn't eat because we were having dinner next door! The server was so cool! Recommend the flights to us! And we took shots of captain Morgan! The shots were great! Outdoor seating was nice, heaters etc! Highly recommend

Friendly, welcoming, well-priced little spot. The bartender was super nice and helped me figure out my itinerary for a day in Germantown. Also made great local beer recs. My kinda spot.
