Incredible menu and quality ingredients. The fish was so fresh and delicious. One of our new favorite spots. Hannah, our server, made great recommendations! Definitely coming back!

Had a great experience walking in off the street after attending an art show. Was given a table with cushion seats to help with my back situation! Met the Manager who shared about the restaurant including some of her own sushi creations! I’ll be back for sure!!!

Really nice sushi and service! Very tasty appetizers and entrees! They are presented beautifully. They have a selection of sake as well.

The fish was fresh and the rolls were delicious- the fry on the crunchy diablo was light and crispy. The service was excellent as well as our server was very attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed (shoutout to Andrew!). Overall, I will definitely be coming again for the crunchy diablo and grand piano rolls especially!

Came here for a birthday lunch and really enjoyed myself. The restaurant is nice and clean, and our server was on point. Our sushi was delicious and tasted fresh. This place never disappoints.

Delicious food! Kimchi was awesome in the pork belly don dish. Yum! It's comfort food type. Enjoyed the appetizer ABURI, and the Sono's choice with a screaming "o" appetizer. If I had the chance to come back I'd try the ramen!

Had an amazing time Irene was our server. We tried the shrimp poppers as well as the surf and turf sushi and the umi Kazan. Everything was fresh and hot. Will def return

I always have an incredible experience at Sono. The first time I'd been, I only had sushi and a lychee martini (i believe), which was just phenomenal. One of the other times I'd gone, I got an actual entree which was the salmon, paired with kimchi and bok choy and it was equally just as incredible. And of course, indulged in sushi, which never fails. Had another specialty martini, which is a given. Now, I took it to go this time to not have to worry about the Friday night Raleigh traffic -- got the Spider roll, Sono roll (a classic), and the crunchy diablo which was something we hadn't tried. Sushi was packaged great, and tasted just as good even after driving home to consume. I have to take a second to say that the calamari is the best i've had. It comes with two sauces that are genuinely so mine-blowingly delicious I cannot explain. Maybe I'm just simple, but they are both incredible flavor, great spice, a balance between sweet and savory. I need them sold in a bottle to take home. Love this place, probably one of my favorite restaurants in all of Raleigh!

Decided to try this place with some friends on Friday despite this definitely not being my preferred type of food. I don't care for sushi but figured I would find something to try. That dish ended up being a chicken ramen bowl. It was flavorless and bland as it could be... until I bit into the bamboo. I nearly lost my lunch at the bar. GROSS. Tried a piece if my friends sushi which was actually decent, but it's still not something I would eat regularly. Bar tender was nice, albeit very busy and rather slow. I wouldnt suggest this place or go back.

10/10 restaurant experience! Everything was great from the miso soup to the sushi! My family came in from out of state and they both enjoyed their food. Service was prompt and by 5:30 it was a packed house

I tried Sono Sushi for lunch and was seated right away. The ambiance is very inviting. I could see this as a great date spot. The service was quick and our server was attentive. When the fire went out on my little steak BBQ grill, he got me fixed right up. Every bit of food we tried was delicious. The sushi was so fresh and the appetizers was tasty too. I would love to come back in the evening and try more when I am back in Raleigh.

Awesome lunch sitting at the bar... I really wanted some Saki, but gotta go back to work. Had one of the Lunch Specials (2 Special Rolls) and shared another special, an order of the Gyoza. The bartender gave great guidance through a beautiful selection of fresh sushi and then delivered swift and accurate service. Gyoza crunchy and the rolls fresh and delicious. First time for this "out of towner", but might come back just for lunch !!

Loved the ambience! The pretty paper umbrellas peppering the ceiling and the Samurai art were awesome. The service was great- maybe a little slow but we weren't in a hurry. They seemed to have a lot of takeout orders. We had Edamame app- it was perfect. Nice amount of sea salt and perfectly warm. We split - tuna w/cucumber, salmon w/ cucumber, and a spider roll- all were delicious- lovely presentation! The price was very reasonable for what we got. Will definitely return when we are in Raleigh again!

Good experience here! Made a reservation on a Friday night. There is street parking and some paid lots around. Ordered a salmon avocado roll and a screaming O roll. Both were tasty, but a bit pricey. Good service! Not the best sushi I have had in Raleigh, but pretty good.

Best cheesecake I've ever had, made with a purple root vegetable for its coloring, the Ube Cheesecake was simply amazing. The sushi was good too, though it lacked a certain presentation for the specialty ones I ordered. The server was OK. She had a couple "glass half empty" that I didn't care for.

Service A+, Food A+, Ambience A += Trifecta Highly Recommend: Yakisoba, Surf and Turf Roll and Curry. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

It's been wayyyy too long since we've been to this gem in downtown Raleigh. Popped in on Saturday night without reservations, but had no problem getting our choice of bar seats or a high top in that area. We chose the bar and settled in for great service and fantastic food. I had a refreshing Battle Royale. This beer/whiskey drink went well with our food. Two of us shared a California Roll with Blue Crab along with one of their specialty rolls, the Umi Kazan. We loved them both and followed them up with a shared order of Pork Dumplings. Excellent dumplings. Even the dipping sauce was on another level. Loved our bartender as well. And for the quality, prices were very reasonable!

Made a reservation through the website. Easy and painless. The place is modern and very clean. Love the fact the the background music is that, background music. Food was good.

I never raise my expectations when trying new sushi places but this definitely raised the bar on what I've had in the triangle. This is one of the best sushi places in this area, with their high quality seafood, innovative recipes and creative presentation. The place can be a bit loud but it does have a cozy ambiance to it. Service was a bit slow but it was super busy that night. All the fish were quality and very fresh. The Sono Choice Nigiri featured unique flavor combinations with more expensive cuts such as toro, ama ebi, ikura & uni. Honestly some of the flavor combos overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the fish but it was still excellent! This is also one of the few places that had fresh wasabi root! Everything we had was well made and high quality. This will be our new go-to sushi place for that special occasion!

This was a good restaurant to visit in the downtown area of Raleigh. We didn't try the sushi, so we can't comment on it, but the ramen was very tasty and spicy. The drinks were also good.

How gorgeous is this platter?! We ventured here for a celebratory lunch. It was empty which was a little surprising. The staff were attentive and friendly.They even let us sample a new sushi creation. The ambience was fine. They played a lot of top 100 pop songs. We got three different rolls: Sandwich, tuna on tuna and a rainbow. The Sandwich roll was very unique; I loved the creative direction. They were all really good! We enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back.

The rolls were Delicious and the waitress was so kind and attentive! Ambiance was nice and comfortable!

Very mediocre sushi and overpriced. On top of that, it's a rather unfriendly place. Nobody greets you or seems friendly at all. The guy working at the host desk seemed like he would've rather been anywhere else. I definitely won't return.

It was a long day and I needed a good ramen fix. Thank god I came to Sono Sushi because they served me one of the best Ramen I have ever had in NC. The flavor of the broth and the crispy pork belly was so full of flavor that happy tears literally rolled down my cheeks (it wasn't because of the chili sauce ) The service was great and the restaurant is filled with really cool Japanese murals. Overall, a def great place to get your sushi and ramen!

Made reservations for 6:30 pm. When we arrived, we were seated promptly. The server was kind although you could tell she had various tables, so was quite busy. We ordered the sono shrimp and edamame with Thai chili peppers as an appetizer. The sono shrimp was very similar to the bang bang shrimp. Edamame was very spicy, but good and a generous portion. For main courses we ordered Chicken Ramen and umi Kazan sushi. Definitely recommend for a date night or happy hour with friends! Parking can be a little bit tricky since it's a heart of downtown.

4.5 This was my first stop hopping off a plane so I was pretty hungry. I got the Sono's choice which was 7 pieces of chef's choice nigiri and your choice of a roll. I got the Tuna on Tuna roll which had spicy Tuna, tuna, cucumber, jalapeño, mustard ponzu, garlic crisp and sriracha. I thought they could have been a little bit more generous with the fish on top of the roll but otherwise, it was pretty fresh. Didn't need too much soy sauce with it. The nigiri was definitely the star. It came with big, thick slices of fish with a pretty good ratio of rice on the bottom. Some of my favorite pieces were the scallop, fatty tuna, and mackerel. I thought the fish was actually really fresh except for a couple that were a tad stringy. Otherwise, every bite was really soft. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the fish quality and would recommend for nigiris.

I was hungry and try ordered veggies ramen . The taste was good but the noddle too hard , soup was warm not hot enough for nodlde soup . I did not enjoy the soup at all ..feel disappointed ..

Their special sushi roles are legitimately the best I've ever had. And I've been eating sushi my whole life. You can't go wrong with them.

I am literally standing here writing this review. This place suck. For a take out order and simple orders, it shouldn't be waiting this long and this complicated. Inside looks trendy. Looks like good ambient date night. The food, we ordered 2 simple rolls and 2 of their house rolls and 2 miso soups. Come on no - shouldn't take 1/2 hr.

This place has great food - I've always enjoyed the sushi and the ramen. The tonkatsu was amazing, I could have drank all the broth. I wanted to comment on the kindness of the waitstaff and management. This is the second time I've come with my (very loud, very tired) toddler and preschooler. They've always treated us so well. Our server today was very kind (extra plates for the kids to split plates, helped me serve me the kids so we could all eat) and the manager added some extra special touches- she had our sushi cut into smaller pieces for them to eat and brought trainer chopsticks over. When I go to a restaurant, especially an upper scale one in a downtown , I'm just happy to be treated like my kids are ok to sit there. But sono sushi always makes me feel like my kids are guests too, and more than welcome. So thank you.

We stopped in for a little snack during the Hopscotch festival. We ordered the pan fried Gyoza and a Tuna Roll. The gyoza were crispy, warm and very flavorful and the tuna was super fresh. A perfect little snack, while wandering DT Raleigh.

I was craving sushi and city market wasn't open so I decided to try sono. The experience was the best average the Ramen was good but not overly flavorful. The sushi was good but not remarkable. This really is a 3.5 review the atmosphere and the service we're good servers are very friendly and the restaurant is beautiful. However, I probably won't visit again.

Great sushi place in Downtown Raleigh! The grilled octopus, hamachi, and aburi appetizers were delicious. All sushi rolls were great too. Danny was an attentive server along with the rest of the Sono team. Highly recommend!

Great sushi and sashimi! Unique rolls and inventive dining choices. A fixture in our sushi restaurant rotation. Great ambiance with a fun upscale vibe. We've been there countless times and have never had a bad experience. Service is good.

Sono Sushi is a must try for sushi enthusiasts! The ambiance and vibe inside is casual and chic, with a simple modern style. You could do lunch with a colleague, or dinner with a friend, it's not too loud, there is ample seating inside, and a full bar. The gyoza appetizer was light, fresh and cooked well. The Dancing Eel roll was amazing, and the flavor was excellent. The eel was sliced very fine, with shrimp, rice, avocado, and eel sauce to top it off and a side of spicy mayo you can't go wrong! If you want something light, sweet, crisp and refreshing ask for the cocktail in the photo. I don't remember the name of it, but it didn't dissapoint and was the perfect compliment to my meal. Street parking available nearby. 10/10 would recommend!

This place looks great inside. Red walls, art, full bar, nice lighting, and a cool ambience. However, the sushi and service fell short of my expectations. I've been looking for Raleigh's best sushi and trying spots all around so I was excited to come here but ended up pretty disappointed. Our service was slow. The restaurant was not busy at all but we still had to ask another waitress for a refill of water, getting our check, getting a box, etc. Had it been busy I would've understood but it wasn't even close. The firecracker shrimp surprised me being in an egg roll, which wasn't bad but I also wouldn't order it again. We got the screaming O, story of the salmon, and grand piano roll. None of the rolls were very flavorful or stood out like that. For the taste of the sushi it should have been BOGO. I also didn't like how they gave one long piece of ginger instead of cutting it into pieces you could eat with your sushi. I thought that was lazy of them. Overall this was a very mediocre sushi spot and pretty pricey for the quality.

I brought hubby here for a birthday dinner and this place did not disappoint! It was a cute place, very chill. Everything on the menu was absolutely delicious! The chicken skewers and edamame was so good. I don't really remember all the correct names of all the food items but it was so good! The bbq grill was definitely our favorite dish! We love going to places like this! The chicken entree was very fresh and simple, loved it!! Since it was his birthday, they gave us two mochi ! We got the salted caramel which was yummy!

Came here on a Monday night, surprisingly still a lot of people. Located downtown Raleigh. Food was mediocre, would like to give 3.5 but that is not an option on Yelp. Service good. Fusion style for sure.

My friend used to come here with her dad when she was young, and she was excited to take us to Sono after a few years since her last visit. This place deserves a five star not only because of the fond memories, but also for its amazing food & service! We got ramen bowls, miso soup and two rolls to share (between the three of us). The broth for spicy miso was both sophisticated and actually SPICY (more than average ramen shop in the US), which was really hitting the spot on a winter night. My friend's veggie ramen has a thicker style of ramen, but tasted homemade and flavorful. We got diablo roll (crispy) and the shrimp meets mango roll (refreshing and subtle mango flavor, great for summer), loved both! Each roll comes with 8 pieces, tastes very fresh, and they are able to make adjustment for the ingredients (we did not want cream cheese inside). It's a busy night, the wait was a bit long but our server was so sweet and apologetic- also, so glad I had my friends there because they were fun and didn't make the wait feel long at all! Also, the price was very, very reasonable for the portion they serve. Will be back here soon, highly recommend this place!! PS : My friend just announced we would be back here for her birthday!

definitely didn't have the same experience as everyone else. vibes were so so dead. no music and super weird vibe on a friday night. food was okay honestly, sushi didn't taste super fresh but it was good enough. the ramen was just alright - good broth but couldn't eat the pork, it wasn't even pork just two large pieces of fat in my bowl :(. made my boyfriend sick the next day but i felt fine so that might just be a him thing

The food was absolutely amazing as well as the atmosphere. If you are a carnivore, I highly recommend The Ribeye, it was cooked perfectly and I had leftovers, which is always a good thing. I also recommend Firecracker shrimp (not pictured) as an appetizer, you will definitely get a second order. There's a lot of great options on the menu. I highly recommend!

Service was great. Ordered at the bar to go and didn't have to wait long at all. Had a lovely cocktail while waiting. The sushi was great; the yellow tail sashimi was the freshest and most tender I've ever had by far. The bar area was inviting and fellow bar customers were very friendly.

This place was the best sushi I have had in a while the blue crab roll was amazing the crab flavor was so strong and good the sauces they put on top of their rolls 10/10 I will be coming back here all the time and they have amazing pork ramen bowls the eggs were cooked perfectly

A great little find while traveling from Wilmington to Winston Salem. Located in the heart of Raleighs downtown area Sono offers a fantastic selection of sushi and ramen. Orders the chicken ramen and a few sushi rolls togo. The ramen was fantastic. Super flavorful and rich broth, hearty pieces of grilled chicken really hit the spot after a long drive. The best part for me however was the wood ear mushrooms they add to the soup. It's rare to find a place these added these well done! Our sushi rolls held up well for the drive home and everything tasted delicious however I'd like to return to eat at the restaurant to be able to fully appreciate it. We will definitely be coming back for round 2!

Food: This is one of my favorite places for ramen. Service is amazing, ambiance is great. This place is nice for a date night or meeting with friends. Its a 40 mins drive for me but so worth it!

Good food, good service, good ambiance. One time a handful of me and my friends wanted to eat here and they served us even though it was 30 minutes before closing. The food was great even then and the waiters were incredibly polite even though I'm sure they were tired that night.

So I has a great location near the Marriott conference center. Interior is probably a 3 star, staff is very friendly but I could tell some around me were getting impatient. I ordered the omakase add Ikura. There's no piece by piece presentation or smoked pieces as in some. The pieces were fresh, good portion, right temp etc that you would expect. Nothing really exceptional but what I would consider on par with regular. Really more of a 3.5 star. Price was fair. If they would add a little more flair options to the omakase, smoked pieces, chef creations etc they could be 4+.

The ambiance is really warm . Great date night spot. The food is always consistently good other than one time where we had an issue with one of the items and Marika the manager took care of it. She is super friendly and competent. Will go back soon!
