Went on Valentine’s Day around 8pm. We had a reservation, but it wasn’t too busy so we got to pick our seats. I recommend the fig and cheese crostini! So delicious and the figs were so fresh.

We stopped in for a glass of wine and light bites on a recent hot summer afternoon. What a cool, refreshing, and friendly spot! Much larger place than it appears from the outside, with a clean and cozy feel and terrific music selection that makes you want to linger. Delicious and beautifully prepared food alongside an excellent wineselection. Treat yourself to a visit to this fun little place!

Outstanding experience! Joined a group of friends this evening and had the best time. Edgar and Hector were the perfect hosts. They guided us toward wines that were affordable and tasteful. We shared 3 pizzas and took some home. We also enjoyed the deviled eggs. Small but brilliant taste! Don’t pass these up as they’re definitely something to start the evening with. A splendid night. Looking forward to returning soon!

After being a happy customer for years, I held my birthday party at Sonoma in their private room. The charcuterie was amazing as well as the Prosecco we had as guests arrived. Laura took great care of us and Taylor was helpful booking the party. Highly recommend this location for date night or a private party. 😊🥂🍷🧀

This was a new spot for me, when we needed to kill time before our reservations. So we stopped by Sonoma for a little pregame wine to our dinner. The server made great recommendations for all us to start the night off right. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. If you like a sweet red with a raspberry ish flavor. Give this one a try: 2022 BORGO MARAGLIANO brachetto - piemonte, it. The service was a bit hit or miss as we would have ordered more. As we were there for about an hour, with only 1 drink each. We also had to ask for our checks, so we could make our reservations. But over all it was a very positive experience and we were able to chat without issues in their cosy atmosphere. We will be back, and look forward to trying more wines. Hopefully to try some of their food menu items as well. Until next time.

Classy wine bar. Great range and selection. I was attending a private event in the side tasting room as it was the perfect venue for us. Edgar who looked after us was so impressive keeping track of 15 seperate tabs for us gents. He was friendly, knew his menu and kept us well oiled all night. Great hosting. Thank you so much. I was pleased to see French crement on the menu. Good price at $60 a bottle and was very quaffable. There was a great selection of both US and Global wines. Would recommend for small venue hiring with the wide tasting room. I didn’t order food specifically. But had a slice of a friends pizza. Other attendees ordered sandwiches. Easy food if needed. But the true focus is the wine.

My friends and I had a great time here! The staff were really nice and very attentive. There was a large wine & flight selection along with many options for charcuterie and snacks. Great for a girls night or date night!

Great place, smooth setting and great music choice. Extensive wine choices and very knowledgeable people who work here! They Do have food here also, I recommend that grilled cheese. I know that's basic but it's crafted beautifully! Nice place to come with friends or a partner!

Pleasantly surprised by Sonoma! Have driven past it so many times and finally got to try it. They have several flights you can choose from. I got the "Fun in the Sun" flight, which had 2 roses and an orange wine, half glass of each for $25. Also tried a cheese board, 3 items for $30. I enjoyed everything I tried and the service is pretty good, they check on you regularly with water refills. It's a nice interior with plenty of seating and is overall comfortable. They have some other food options like pizza and other apps, which I'll have to come back to try. There's a parking lot, which is definitely a plus!

Do I live in the Bay Area, yet must go to a Wine Country-themed location when I'm visiting another town? The answer is yes. We came here before our dinner reservations and had a glass of wine. Tthe inside is nice and the staff were so cool. They even let me try out their wine glass dryer!

I recently hosted a wine tasting party for my birthday and to celebrate a career milestone. The event was hosted in a private room and we fit 20 people comfortably. I've been coming to Sonoma for years but had never hosted an event. Everyone had such a great time! Taylor is an amazing sommelier and did a fantastic job explaining the various wines. He is very knowledgable, professional, welcoming, all while keeping the tasting fun. Edgar also made sure our party was taken care of and went above and beyond after the tasting was over to ensure the guests continued to have a good time. Both Taylor and Edgar really made me and my guests feel special. My guests were raving about it days later and we are looking forward to hosting another event! Other items: The wine tasting comes with cheese pairings. We also ordered pizzas. The pizzas are amazing here. The private room comes with a TV - you can play your own music, pull up pictures, presentation, etc.

This is the perfect spot to catch up with the a friend. From the pop corn to the wine flight, just walk right in and trust the staff to make great recommendations.

Extremely patient and kind staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my crafted flight of sweeter wines. Their food is also pretty decent. I think this is a great spot to catch up with a small group. It's not too noisy and provides a good set of privacy.

We were seated right away and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. The staff offers wine recommendations and pairings to guide your experience. The food is delicious and we try the flights to sample from their vast selection and the pour sizes are better than most.

Met three friends here--it's a romantic vibe inside. It's dimly lit and, although no dress code is specified, dress nicely. Our server, Hector, was nice and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and gave us great recommendations and descriptions. I had the rose flight and it was amazing. I also had an assortment of accoutrements, which were all great. The truffle chips were a bit addicting. My friends had various food (e.g., pizza, sliders, etc.) and everyone enjoyed their food. I would come back here :-)

I love this spot. They have the best wine flights. It's the perfect spot for having a drink with friends or for meeting a date. The staff is super friendly and give great wine recommendations. Hector is amazing ask for him. On Friday's they gave a $10 wine flight. Check them out!

I came here after work yesterday which was Friday! Happy hour with my good girlfriends!!!!! We had such a good time. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine flight which was one of their happy hour specials. It was nice! I recommend this place for meeting with a small group of friends or for a date! You won't be disappointed.

We walked in anticipating an after dinner glass of wine. The place was empty at 6:30. We were asked if we had a reservation and we said we didn't, but were only planning to have a glass of wine. We were told we could sit, but we would be asked to "skootch " when other people arrived. Needless to say we skootched right on out of there. The welcome was completely underwhelming.

Atmosphere was...cute! We came on a Monday night and stayed for about an hour. We were the only ones here the entire time, which was kind of nice really. Good music, good service, nice lighting and ambience. We each got a wine flight. Between us we received 6 (heavily poured) samples. I'm not one to leave an unfinished glass of wine on the table, but these were pretty gnarly. Sour and acidic were the themes amongst all 6 samples and we could only stomach a couple of them. Cool place, very cozy, and maybe ordering the flights were simply a poor move; however, based on what we received we probably won't be back.

Food is great and Taylor is the best server! Such a cute spot with ample parking and beautifully decorated interiors. I love popping in here for a great selection of wine and cheese. This is a great date spot as well as somewhere to meet a group. They have a wonderful private room that can hold a good amount of people.

I was there for happy hour with a group. Staff were very serviceable. I ordered an artichoke dip served with crostini. It's delicious. As for the sangria over crushed ice, Sonoma can do better. It almost tastes like medicine. It was sort of bitter. Sangria should be sweet and with orange juice. I didn't detect any o.j. nor sweetness. The bar has free parking and outdoor seating.

Menu has changed. Wine is good. Appetizers aka cheese plate is good but service is not up to par. Menu changed. Miss my go to.

Came in to get a wine flight after a stressful day of work. Got the We'll Traveled wine flight. The Rosso was really good. The itialian middle was okay but interesting. The cab malbec blend was just ok and not as good as most malbecs. I was hungry so I got the funghi pasta without chicken. It was good but not filling enough. I wish I had gotten the chicken with it. I then ordered the brie and prosciutto ham. Again not filled up enough. Left hungry. My suggestion to establishment, offer bread, butter and olives as free appetizer. Offer ceasar salad free with food orders. At these prices customer should not leave hungry.

I've passed this location for years not realizing what a gem it turned out to be. Just walked in for the first time tonight and was blown away with the selection of wine and food to eat. The service was second to none. The ambience and jazz music is everything I've been looking for in Houston. Shoutout to Hector for providing an amazing experience. Already recommended and will continue to recommend this location to anyone who wants a step up from your typical bar experience. 10/10

Wow!wow! I'm a WSET 3 of 8 in wine terms and I LOVE MY CULPABILITY of blind tasting here.

I did curbside pick up so I didn't get a chance to enjoy the ambience, so my review is based on the food. I got the half order of the artisan charcuterie board, margarita pizza, and the Sonoma pizza. I've had Margherita pizza but the Sonoma pizza was delicious! The pesto and artichoke brought it up to another level! The charcuterie board is nice when you don't want to make and need to take something to a friends gathering. It was mediocre but would get again.

Sonoma Upper Kirby, is our favorite place to enjoy some excellent wines and excellent service. Taylor is our favorite sommelier! His knowledge and attention to detail is unmatched! The food is also delicious and the atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing. I would highly recommend stopping by for an elevated experience in the wine and food world! Make sure to ask for Taylor!

Fraud by server!!!! Guys be careful!! We went there on Jun 6th 2020 I tried to pay to the visa gift card, and our server came back and said it won't go thru, he said he tried 3 times. So I paid over with my credit card. Then I found out that someone was charging again my gift card the next day and clean it out by spending on PayPal. I remember his face and how he look. Ba careful! This dude need to be fired!! I'll be checking him out tomorrow

We have been going to Sonoma at Upper Kirby for many years, and we always have a fun and fabulous time!! The Sommelier, Taylor, is extremely knowledgeable about all wines, and we're always delighted when he recommends something new!! Edgar is also very knowledgeable about the wines, and their resident chef is awesome!! When guests enter Sonoma on Upper Kirby, they are greeted by either Taylor or Edgar, who welcome them into a beautiful and cozy setting, that includes rich wooden furniture, a pass thru fireplace, and a bar. You are immediately transformed into a California or Italian tasting room or wine cellar!! Holidays are especially nice, because you can reserve your favorite spot for you and your special someone, as was the case on Valentine's Day when they had live music!! We did not have a reservation, but found a lovely table outside, with a heater and located where we could hear the live music!! I highly recommend Sonoma on Upper Kirby for a delightful evening out!!

Came here to check out a happy hour & super happy we did. We took advantage of the $15 flights and tried the new age and old age flight. Both were super good for the price. We also got the daily board and the Bordeaux pizza. I think this is the first board we've ordered that both me and my husband liked everything on it. The meats were awesome, and the cheeses were super tasty. The pizza was also phenomenal- really well seasoned. Service was also super friendly, as well as the ambiance. Very relaxing environment. I think the only reason we decided on 4 stars instead of 5 was really because the food seemed a little pricey? The board was $40 & the small pizza was $24. Seemed like a little much for the portions, but they were very good.

I recently went to Sonoma for a birthday party, it was my first time there. In my opinion it was a great experience, we had our own private room for the birthday girl. Different cheeses that paired well with the wine selections and the service was great. Before I left I ordered an artichoke pizza that was really good 8/10 for sure.

Great location and the food is so delicious! . Only downside to this location is parking but aside from that it is worth it.

I come here every year for my birthday, usually they acknowledge my bday but nothing this year and I put that on reservation, no dessert or anything, kind of a bummer. But the food, wine and atmosphere are amazing. The guy was very knowledgeable about the wine and friendly. Just kind of bummed about the bday part but will definitely be back, love this place!

The main issue I have with this place is the pricing. Although I do feel you get bang for your buck, it just seems like any visit here requires each person to spend about $50. Came here with three others, and ordered a wine flight each and a charcuterie board. Everything that arrived was delectable, the wine flight experience was unique and tasty. Service was excellent - the server seemed knowledgeable about all the specific wines and could provide recommendations based on preferences noted.

Definitely a cute place for a girls night out! One star down for value/pricing. I went with 2 other girls and the bill came out to be about $40/person. We each ordered a rosé flight (5 single pours/$20), a charcuterie board with 1 meat and 1 cheese, a baked brie, truffle fries, and the mushroom pizza. Don't be surprised by the single pours, as it may seem the bartender didn't have a heavy hand! Maybe I need to cut back on my eating habits since we ordered a lot, but for this price our meal almost seemed like a snack. Another reason for one star down was for the timing. Maybe it was our fault for arriving late, but they closed at 9 pm. Unfortunately a lot of the wines were run out, and we weren't able to fully enjoy their lengthy rosé list. Service was great, however, and the servers were fairly quick although it was a busy Saturday evening! All in all, I'd return for the wine flights, but maybe come with a more full stomach to get the most out of this cute place.

Cool little spot, wish we had this back home. Ambiance was awesome, bar/ table/ lounge/outside seating. Great menu, simple yet various choices. I loved the bruschetta and the cheese & charcuterie and the fact you can choose your options was so fun. Definitely suggest checking this spot out.

Cute, classy place to sit back, relax, and have some wine and cheese with friends! Service was attentive and helpful, there was plentiful comfortable seating, and they have a good selection of wines and foods. The artisan cheese and charcuterie board is apparently their most popular cheese board, so we got that. It was great! There's sooooo much stuff on it! The berry jam was super tasty. We were there during happy hour so they offered a wine flight of three wines for $10. It was a good amount of wine! Overall, a great experience. We would've stayed longer if we could!

Rented out the ENTIRE PLACE for corporate event. Called Farrah Cauley a couple of days ahead to confirm details and she assured me that we were squared away. Of course the day of the event we arrive 90 minutes before hand and the staff has no record of our reservation and was not prepared. Called Farrah who was not on site, received excuses such as we arrived too early and lies such as they had us down but the local staff showed us their calendar which did not show my reserved event. Also got yelled at as if it was my fault she dropped the ball. They had to rush another manager from another location to clean up her mess and the food that we ordered was not prepared so my clients just ate what they had. I do not recommend them for events as it was a disaster!

Cute place that's not too cramped or busy, plenty of parking, fast service and extensive wine menu. I love the indoor and outdoor seating options. I wanted to try a flight (maybe next time), but got a bottle of brut rose to share with my step sister. We also shared the generous artisan cheese & charcuterie board, and each enjoyed a Brenda's salad. Everything was enjoyable!

Came here on a Friday night for a wine flight and their infamous cheeseboard, the cheese and charcuterie one! We were immediately seated at a small round table in the bar area. My only complaint - the table is quite uncomfortable. The legs of the table, the height of it...makes it hard to sit comfortably, esp if you are with 1-2 others. It's one of those things that's hard to describe with words. That being said, it's no deal breaker by any means. Service, food, and wine here are great! I went with the valentine reds flight, which I really liked. It was 3oz of 3 different wines. We were able to switch out some of the cheeses and meats in the board, which was nice. It came with many accompaniments like bread, honey, nuts, etc. Overall, a good experience!

This is a great place to grab a nice glass of wine! I love their wine selection! The decor is great and romantic. Today we ordered the sliders, which were very tasty, perfectly cooked. We also ordered the tomato soup and it was very delicious and perfect. However the baked Bri had too much honey and it was a tad overwhelming so I would not do that one again. I wonder if I should have asked how much honey it came with. However service was spectacular!!! Our server was so sweet and kind so I really appreciated that! Overall will come again and I would Really give them a 4.75!

I have my favorite wine bars in Houston, all of which are unique and special in their own way. As far as Sonoma goes, they have a great happy hour, a Yelp check-in deal (half off your first glass of wine), a patio, great parking and phenom food! Oh, and it's kinda cool that the owner's name is Farrah. Sonoma is a great place to hang out for happy hour, dinner, post-dinner, pre-partying ... whatver excuse you need to drink wine and eat cheese, I say. And it's perfect for girls night out, date night, drinks with co-workers, and fellas, you too. They've got a good selection of microbrews. As far as apps, I think they have some of the best cheese plates. I'm a fan of brie, and they have a lovely selection of varieties. My favorite is to get the baked brie with honey and sliced apples. Other notable dishes: duck pot pie, lobster risotto, pizzas, and don't forget about the Chef's dessert trio. Be sure to check their calendar for weekly specials and events (like wine tastings or wine dinner pairings, live music). They have a private rooms for tastings and private parties, inside table seating as well as couches and more cozy of an atmosphere; and when they do bring in live music, it has a very international feel so it's sexy and fun without being disruptive. I'm not one to ever complain about the parking sitch for any business, but I will give props to Sonoma for having added parking to the left of the venue WITH SECURITY. The guy working there is extremely kind. When I park there, he always walks me to the wine bar, and on my way back he makes sure everyone is safely in their car. It's not a dangerous area - it's Upper Kirby after all - but still, this added effort that Sonoma puts into the safety of their patrons is much appreciated. Coming soon: Another location coming to The Heights sometime this spring/summer. I can't wait to check out its individual look and vibe.

Very cute and quaint winebar....the setup is similar to a restaurant where there are more tables and less of a look of bottles of wine for sale....I had a few glasses of the NV Shebang,which is an absolutely delicious bold and fruity red blend...I love the free pour atmosphere,which as a wino makes me think I'm getting more wine even if I'm not .....the waiter was very attentive, friendly and quick and the glasses range from $10-15 with flights around $25.....I didn't have any food but everything that came out looked great, besides it's a great idea to have actual food available when people are drinking (they will spend more) I will definitely return, loved the atmosphere and everything about this place

While waiting for some people, I decided to step into this place once it opened and the people there treated me like I was an extended family member. They held great conversations and recommended the perfect pizza for me as I waited! The drinks there were amazing and the guy knew his stuff! Definitely recommend this for anyone in the area!

Good wine selection. Bartender is friendly but talks way too much. Very sweet and kind and good service but we sat at the bar to have personal time not to become BFF with the bartender. Pizza is just ok.

This place is fantastic!! We ordered a pizza, charcuterie board, and 2 wine flights (pretty bubbles and well traveled). Literally everything was delicious. The place was smaller, but they section it off well. They have TV's and a bar for watching a game and a private room for events. The chef was a winner of Hell's Kitchen

Let me preference this by saying I absolutely adore this restaurant and location. I ALWAYS received exceptional service while there and WILL continue to visit this location often. The decor is comfortable and cozy with both in and outdoor seating. This review and 1 star is for the bread that was served with the baked artichoke dip (11/27/2017). Previously the bread served with this dish, was a hot, soft baked french bread (which IMO was perfect!). However, they have since changed it and last night the bread I received was cold and hard (no bueno). I inquired if the other bread (or any other bread) was available but unfortunately it was not. If this bread remains, I will still order this dish but without the bread and to go (purchasing bread from a store on the way home). On another note, Ashley my waitress for the evening was EXCELLENT and she definitely deserves 5 stars.

I've been here before many moons ago with one of my besties. We decided we were in the mood for wine for happy hour and chose to come here. I finally had a wine flight, #DrinkPink. Yes, #DrinkPink is the name of the flight of rosé. All 3 were delicious. Of course I had to order a pizza for their 50% off Thursday Happy Hour menu option. I decided to try something new and ordered the Somoma pizza. Holy cow it was one of the best pizzas I ever had! This place is a definite must for anyone wanting to have a great glass of wine and food. Perfect place and location for any occasion.

Very accomplished employees! I had some friends with me and made last minute plans for my birthday. Sonoma sat all six of us together at a table and gave excellent service. Wine was great and appetizers were tasty, they even brought me a complimentary birthday treat! So sweet! Thank you Sonoma!

Our waiter was friendly, my friend's wine was good. She has the grilled cheese with tomato bisque, which looked delicious and I had the deviled eggs with truffle butter. It was my first time trying truffle butter and it is not my favorite but overall, they were decent. The white wine that she has, she thoroughly enjoyed!

I've been coming here for years and still love it. They have a small intimate indoor setting. Their food is great, especially the charcuterie boards. And they have a nice selection of wines. I came during the day, but I think the ambience at night is the best here. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves wine and small intimate places.

I wish I could find an excuse for Sonoma because I really was looking forward to trying it and the place was rather nice. It could actually have ended up in my list of go-to wine bars. We arrived right after Happy Hour on a Thursday and waited by the door for a few minutes until someone told us without greeting us that we could sit wherever we wanted. We sat outside and waited for a good 15min before I decided to go grab a menu myself. And this was basically the story of our evening: waiting for the drinks, which came 10min apart, waiting for the food, we even had to go ask for the check and then bring it back to our server afterwards. Except for that, the wine and food were good and the price was what I expected.

My and my pumpkin went for a nice evening out. The vibe was quiet and dimly lit -perfect for date night. Sadly though a group of white patrons were loud, drunk and were talking and making fun of us. This was right after the Biden Kamala win so go figure. We didn't let it ruin our night though so we prayed about it and moved on. Civok was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing with the menu and drink recommendations and customer service. Will definitely be going back.

While staying in Houston we were looking for a unique place to have a glass of wine and appetizers. Saw this place on yelp, read the reviews and we decided to give it a try. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated immediately. They had inside and outside seating, and we decided to sit inside. The ambience in the restaurant is wonderful. Lots of great choices to choose from for food and wine.
