Google
By far the best Mexican spot/taco truck in the Bay Area. The meat is so tender and juicy and all the food has so much flavor. My favorite place for Mexican food hands down! The burrito is out of this world delicious!!

Google
I used to enjoy coming to Sonora's, but the recent price jump is ridiculous. They're now charging $5 per taco, yet somehow the portions have gotten smaller. Most places charge around $3.50 and give noticeably more meat and better quality. Even full restaurants with much higher overhead don't charge anywhere near $5 for a basic taco. Going from $3 to $4 to $5 so fast, without adding anything extra, feels like pure greed. For the price they're asking, you'd expect at least more meat or improved quality ,but instead, you get less. Highly recommend avoiding this place. There are plenty of taco trucks and restaurants nearby that offer better value, bigger portions, and way better food for much less.

Google
$5 tacos are delicious with good toppings and meat. Quesobirria are also $5 each get those as well if you like cheese. Both salsas were excellent. Agua Fresca is massively sized. There's outdoor seating to the side but it can get quite cold. I would come again

Google
This was the first taco truck we visited after moving to the Bay and has been our favorite ever since. Great burritos and tacos with vegetarian options, delicious agua frescas (try the cantaloupe or guava when they have it!!), and quick no-nonsense service. We’ve moved further away from their normal location, but still make it a point to frequent this truck.

Google
Ideally 3.5/5 Good tacos but the meat was a little dry and didnt quite hit the bold spicy and savory flavors I was hoping for. It is located next to a gas station but there are a few parking spots right next to the food truck.

Xing Peng L.

Google
Really amazing birria tacos. Would definitely recommend. The consume has a strong smokey flavor that's amazing and had a deep complex taste. The portion size is good. 3 tacos should be sufficient for a decent meal.

Sesheta

Google
This place is quick and delicious. Their birria is def #1 for me followed up by their horchata. The carne asada tacos are good as well. I do not recommend the enchiladas though, they are more like tacos and are very dry. But there is always seating with shade.

Eric R.

Google
Top tacos for a decent price. Decent prices good amount of food. Truck is parked in a gas station. There are outdoor tables you can dine in.

Yelp
what else can i say? the food is so worth the $$. we came for our anniversary and the taco truck was very cozy and the menus are up to date. we went ham with our orders; asada torta was superb so filling and flavorful not salty like other places, quesdilla are great, 6 birria tacos so worth money. our personal fav are the horchatas. such sweet and slush-like texture so so easy to drink up!! gave abundant of sauces without asking. first timers too. def support this place !!

Yelp
This place is legit. Would always drive by here all the time and always wondered how it was, well finally got to try it after 49ers game. This truck is located right off Fair Oaks exit in the Poppy Gas station. Came on a Monday and it was quiet u til the rest of the folks from the game stopped by here as well and it got busy quick. The staff is friendly and figured out the ringing of the bell meant the food was ready which I wasn't use to lol. Got some birria tacos, super asada quesadilla and asada super nachos. Birria tacos were good. Super quesadillas & the nachos were pretty good as well. They have several tables outside to dine in, but it was really cold. Overall must try when you're in Sunnyvale.

Yelp
This food truck caught my eye while I was having my car worked on next door. SO glad we stopped by - it was unexpectedly so good! They ran out of shrimp the day I was there, and I was torn deciding between the chile relleno burrito and a quesadilla. The person taking my order was so kind to modify a quesadilla to include chile relleno, so I really appreciated that. I took the orders home to eat and was amazed the quesadilla was so good - I was even able to get a cheese pull out of it :P I brought home a few tacos for my sister and she thought it they were also delicious! Would love to come back here if I am in the area again~~

Yelp
3.5 stars overall. The quesabirria tacos are fire, crispy, cheesy, and easily 5 stars. I recommend them. But the burrito was a big letdown, barely any meat inside and no consome included (they charge extra). For $12+, it felt weak. Also, if you order two burritos, they only give you one green sauce and two reds... why not at least match it so each person gets both sauces? So odd, I don't like that one bit. 1.5 stars for their Baria burritos. I would come back for the tacos if i am in the area, but definitely skipping the burritos. Customer service is okay- it's a taco truck. Plenty of parking as it's by the gas station. They do have tents for outdoor seating.

Yelp
Delicious tacos, open late, and relatively fast service. I got four tacos on my way home- carnitas, asada, birria an al pastor. On my last visit I remember loving the birria taco and craving more. But this time the birria was a little disappointing- it was drier and less flavorful than I remember-- although this could be my fault for ordering it without cheese this time. The carnitas was moist and very flavorful- my favorite taco of the four. The asada and al pastor were also good, by the carnitas took the prize. Outdoor folding tables and chairs in the parking lot of a gas station. A good clip of business around 10 pm on a Tuesday night and my food tasted fresh and hot!

Yelp
Tried Sonora Taqueria not too long ago and I swear it's my new favorite spot to get tacos. I don't think I could get tacos any where else now. Personally, I think good tacos not only depends on the meat but the tortillas matter too! Not all places will have handmade and that's fine. It's a bummer when it's barely cooked at other places but the way Sonora's cook their tortillas makes everything so good!! Carne Asada and Lengua - my go to. Al Pastor - this was okay here Tried the torta with carne asada and I'll most likely get this next time. Salsas were a bit watery but the flavors were there. The parking lot is small and shared with another food truck. Tables/chairs are available if you want to eat there. Service is good, never had any issues. Would recommend!

Yong Hao T.

Yelp
I had the super quesadilla this time, and it was absolutely perfect -- flavorful, cheesy, and packed just right without being too heavy. You can really taste the freshness of their ingredients and the care they put into every detail. The tortilla was beautifully crisp on the outside and soft inside, and the balance of fillings was spot on. Sonora Taqueria continues to set the bar high for authentic, quality Mexican food. Always consistent, always satisfying -- easily one of the best spots in the Bay.

Yelp
Oh man - just terrible experience. First she goofed up my order I drove back tog DT it fixed and she wouldn't fix it. Then I'm trying to talk to the guy and I see the lady take someone else's money then go back and start touching food. We ordered a total of 12 tacos and 3 quesadillas. They messed up on 7 tacos and she argued it was my fault.
google avatar

Arika G.

Yelp
My go to here is the shrimp and steak burrito. It's sooooo good. They put sautéed bell peppers too, which adds more flavor and a sauce that compliments the shrimp. The taco truck is located in the same parking lot as a gas station. They have tables and chairs set up if you'd like to eat there.

Yelp
We came here on a Tuesday around 6 pm and a few people were ahead of us. A co-worker recommended this place and said to try their birria tacos. So I only had one goal, BIRRIA TACOS. This taco truck is by a gas station. Parking is very limited and there's a sign that says "Gas parking only, no taco truck parking" so make sure you're parked on the side of the taco truck and, they have outdoor seating with shade for those who want to eat their food fresh which was nice. When we saw the menu board, there was no price. So, we were kinda skeptical already. But, we were already there so why not give it a try? We ordered: 3 Al pastor tacos - 7/10 cooked crispy enough and well seasoned. 3 Lengua tacos - 4/10 pretty dry but, seasoning was there. 3 Quesabirria tacos - 9/10 This was by far the best birria I tried (compared to Con Sabor a Mexico, & Tostadas) BUT, consome was an extra charge?!?!?! That feels illegal LOL. The consome was not as overwhelming as others. It was a well-balanced flavor of the cheesy birria and a decent serving of protein. 1 Horchata - 6/10 not too sweet which was good. The salsa was good, not too spicy. They already put the salsa on the tacos so no side salsa over here. I guess unless you ask? We never did. The radish was whole, it would be nice to cut them for the ones that have a hard time biting onto it and the lime was TOO DRY!! Overall, I'll have to come here for my birria fix but that extra charge consome, I have to think again.

Helen E.

Yelp
I came back to give them another chance. But unfortunately not only did it take 45minutes for 5 burritos. After waiting for 30 minutes they informed me they were out of sour cream. It would arrive in 10-15 minutes. Waited additional 15 minutes for burritos. All the burritos were made as ordered but I believe they purposely did this as you can see and feel the sour cream in one spot. As soon as I bit into it all I got was sour cream only. I had to open my burrito and redo it. I really like their food but customer service needs to be more communicated with customer specially if they are not of a product. Not wait 30 minutes to inform you.

Yelp
We drove by and saw this Mexican food truck (parked in the corner of a gas station) with a long line of people and we got curious. We pulled into the gas station and ordered the following foods: -3 beef quesabirrias (what they're famous for and super yummy!) -1 shrimp tostada (tasted just ok) -1 carne asada street taco (it wasn't great) Fast service and they are famous for their quesabirrias which consisted of stewed beef in a mini taco quesadilla with lots of cheese! It is very unique and my first time trying quesabirrias. Their other items tasted just ok but their quesabirrias are what you come here for. We will definitely come back for more quesabirrias! *They have a small outdoor seating area with a nice shade so you can eat the food fresh on site.

Yelp
Really Fast service even during lunch rush & and a lot of tables to dine in beside the truck. It would be nice if they had a price associated with the tacos, but it's 3.25 per taco, and the tortas were 14.25. The tacos were not spicy, so people who are into less spice should be able to enjoy this place. Ample parking at the parking lot !!

Yelp
Solid tacqueria truck with outside seatings. The price is pretty fair and the food is solid. Service is friendly and quick.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Another solid food truck find in Sunnyvale! Sonora Taqueria is my go-to when everything else is closed -- they stay open later than most, which is a big plus. Conveniently located by a gas station with available parking, and you can actually dine there, which is rare for food trucks. I usually get their quesadilla with chorizo and always ask for it extra crispy -- they nail the texture every time. The food comes out quick and hot. Flavor is bold and satisfying, especially for a late-night bite. Only downside is that I prefer to call ahead, but they rarely pick up the phone, so expect to order on the spot. Still, the wait is never too long. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and craving Mexican food.

Yelp
I stopped for lunch during work and I'm glad I did! Service was pretty quick after the lunch rush. They take card but if you pay in cash make sure to pay with small bills/exact change. Sometimes I feel a little bit underwhelmed by consumes, but not here. They did not hold back on the seasoning. The quesebirria was cheesy and crispy. And had a decent serving of beef. The two together were well balanced. It comes will grilled jalapeños; I think they ran out of grilled onions by the time I got there. Salsa was tasty and not spicy. I usually bring lunch to work but will add this to my rotation.

Yelp
One of the best food trucks I've tried for super nachos and horchata. The super nachos with carne asada was delicious and it came with 2 salsas in a separate containers which is smart so the nachos didn't get too soggy. We enjoyed every last bite. The horchata was creamy and not overly sweet. There's no really service here. You order and the'll call you when your order is ready. Super casual place since it's by the gas station parking lot. I'll be back soon. They accept CC which is a plus
google avatar

Yelp
This food truck is located right off the 101 and fair oaks. Great place to get Quesabirria tacos and I tried a cabeza taco as well. They serve the food surprisingly quickly which is a plus as well. Tacos are priced at $3.25 and Quesabirria tacos are $4 each with a bowl of consume to dip it in. 3 tables with umbrellas for shade, so in total it can seat about 12 people total. The Quesabirria here is really yummy with plenty of cheese and beef. I really enjoyed both the green and red salsa here as well. I also liked that they give you grilled onions on the side as well as a radish and jalapeño. The cabeza was pretty tender, but I like the cabeza tacos from margaritas taqueria a little better (I think it moved away from Sunnyvale now). The beef and cheese in the Quesabirria is yummy and it seems you can't go wrong coming here for Quesabirria

Yelp
The truck was outside Ace Hardware on Charleston MV several times and I finally gave in! OMG the Birria is phenomenal !!! I have only had it three times in my life, but what an amazing tasty dish to add to my favorites and forever list! Had the Birria Taco and Chicken Taco both with added cheese (no hate please ) added the fresh lime juice and bam ! Delicious ! Came with a charred pepper but I can't eat that stuff or I will melt inside. Great value huge amount of meat in the four tacos we ordered $16 total was well worth it! The Al Pastor I was told was great. We both agreed the Birria was primo! Staff very friendly and parking a breeze Will be back for the Birria plate or Birria Quesadilla
google avatar

Hope L.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday evening and tried the tacos for $3.25 each. I got 2 carne asada tacos and 1 Al pastor taco while my boyfriend got the carnitas and the chorizo tacos. They were all super delicious! The red salsa was way too spicy but the green salsa was delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked and I loved how the Al pastor had pineapple on it. We also got a jamaica agua fresca which was perfectly sweet. I would come here again!
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
I tried this taco truck per a co-worker's recommendation and she was right about these tacos! The quesabirria tacos are BOMB! They're loaded with just the right amount of meat and the taco itself is flavorful and crispy. The tacos come with consommé, grilled jalapeño and grilled onions. You can order however many tacos you want at $4 each. I would go out of my way to have these tacos again! Parking is hard to find since it's parked at a 76 gas station, but we managed to find a spot nearby the truck.
google avatar

Alex X.

Yelp
A quality taco truck that's open late and has affordable pricing. It shares a parking lot with the 76 gas station, and there's a nice outdoor seating area with tables and umbrellas. You order at the window and they serve food pretty quickly, and it's about as nice a vibe as you can get right outside a 101 highway ramp (bring generous, it's pretty noisy). Tacos are great, and these were no exception: decent meat selection (no tripa, cabeza, or lengua when I was there), and the al pastor and chorizo tacos were tasty. Quesabirria were really good and the consomme was what you'd expect - no complaints here. I also felt that the pricing was more than fair (maybe about as cheap as you can find them here). Minor gripe: I asked for no cilantro and it was on the receipt but they still added cilantro.
google avatar

Joe V.

Yelp
Delicious mariscos , tortas , burritos y toda clase de tacos at good price friendly staff and fast service
google avatar

Steffi M.

Yelp
I cannot explain to you how much I love this taco truck!!! It is my go-to place for fast, delicious, and reasonably priced tacos. I always order the al pastor tacos and they are amazing. They are so generous with their meat and topping portions. The meat is perfectly seasoned and juicy. The toppings are fresh and give a nice crunch to the texture. The pineapples are very sweet and balance the savoriness so well. If you want to add extra flavor, I recommend adding a side of consome to dip your tacos in! It always comes piping hot and I could drink it up. I've tried their birria tacos a couple times too, which are delicious! I would order them more but I'm a little sensitive to cheese lol. The food truck is located at a gas station parking lot but it's never felt sketchy or unsafe. There is usually a group of people eating so there's people around. They have a couple tables next to the truck that you can eat at, which I recommend since it tastes the best hot and fresh. The workers here are always really friendly and the food comes out pretty quick. Obviously, if there's a bunch of people, you could be waiting a while. I can't recommend this place enough! I wish I had pictures but I always forget because I get too excited.

Ericka A.

Yelp
After searching for a great taco truck, I came across Sonora Taqueria. Let me tell you, this is my top taco truck to get my Mexican food craving fix! I've been going to this place for years- from their tacos to burritos to quesadillas to quesabirria nothing can beat their flavor. I also get their Horchata- it has a distinct flavor that no other places have. I only gave this place a 4/5 because about 10-15% of the time I went, the food was too greasy. It was still good, but just too much oil in the consume and quesadilla.

Gustavo R.

Yelp
I wanted to like them very badly because of all the other reviews. Prices are high for the meat portions. I ordered birria tacos with consomé and both were salty, tortillas were hard. Good luck getting salsas.. they're stingy with them and they only give you 2... they decide for you 1 green 1 red. You want more ? Then pay. For the price of the food you shouldn't be watching how much salsa customers get.

Mari L.

Yelp
Best birria tacos I've had in a long time around this area , Sunnyvale is close to home so this will definitely be spot for some yummy birria

David M.

Yelp
One word : Birria Always good and flavorful. My kids and I always stop here on way back from climbing gym to grab some queso birria tacos and horchata. Squeeze of lime and come consome to dip and you have an epic meal in my opinion . Honestly have only ever ordered the birria. So everything else is ????
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
This place is great!!! They have excellent quesabirria tacos for a good price, something like $4 per taco. So you're looking at $15 for three quesabirria tacos and a drink. Their drinks are delicious - they always have horchata but also two or three agua frescas to pick from. I like the watermelon a lot. I've also had the quesadilla, burrito, and street tacos. I have nothing bad to say about the food or service!! They are always located in this gas station parking lot so they can refill the propane anytime. There's lots of parking and they have tables for sitting and eating at. A busy night has maybe a 15 minute wait for food. It's a pretty quiet place to eat despite being off a busy road so I like to eat there at the tables.
google avatar

Swizzle S.

Yelp
They serve the best Quesabirria tacos and consume. I have yet to find a spot in San Jose that's as good as them. The rest of the food looks good, but I haven't tried anything else cause I always come for the quesabirria.
google avatar

Cameron And Denise J.

Yelp
Should have done this much much sooner! We love this place is an under statement. The meat on the quesabirria is so flavorful and the cosume...yummm!!! Give me a straw!! Crunchy shell with cheese all over it, you even get that crunch from the meat but it's not burnt!! Best one in the area and we'll drive to get some of this food. The only thing I don't like is that I think they removed the grilled onions from their plates... bring that back please!! Would definitely recommend! Come get your food!!!!
google avatar

Belen S.

Yelp
Very tasty tacos I always get alpastor. It's a little bit pricey but worth it. Next to a gas station so it's very convenient.

Tinkerbell S.

Yelp
They post no prices that so they can change them daily if they like and according to what car you pull up in. So if you have a Tesla they can upcharge you. This practice is actually illegal in California.
google avatar

Satoko I.

Yelp
I've discovered they have Cabeza!!!! Which is already rare and they taste sooooo good!! I'm an addict. Also I highly recommend you to try Birria Plate with extra rice. It always put me into food coma. Their price is still reasonable and one of the best Mexican truck in the area for sure. This place right next to 101 is always open for your late night Mexican.
google avatar

Robert V.

Yelp
What better way to start your day than grabbing lunch with friends. Came around 11:30 and it wasn't busy at all. You could say we beat the lunch time rush. Plenty of seating too since they have a nice little area off to the side. I had ordered 2 Birria Tacos and 2 Chorizo Tacos. What I appreciated about this place was their tacos weren't too soggy and could hold it's own. The outside edges of the tortilla was also slightly crisp so you get that nice crunch. Most places, the consome is so so, but this place actually has flavor (THANK GOD) What's also provided is a jalapeño and sliced grilled onions to pair with your meal. I also had the orange sauce which had a little kick to it so be warned. TAKEAWAYS: SOFT&CRISPY, FLAVOR, OUTDOOR SITTING

Yelp
After moving to Sunnyvale, I thought I would have to say goodbye to good tacos, but thankfully this place is GREAT. The star of the show is obviously their quesabirria tacos, with tons of cheese, tender birria, and a flavorful (but not cloying!) consomme that's simply the bomb.com to dip in. They do have other options, like al pastor and carnitas (which I've tried!), but to be honest it was kind of underwhelming due to being underseasoned and on the dry side. I think they do their beef better than their pork options- their carne asada tacos are extremely well seasoned (if a little dry), their cabeza is tender and delicious, and of course, their birria kicks ass. These non-quesabirria tacos will set you back about $2.50 - I usually get one of these in addition to 2 quesabirria tacos, making it a satisfying meal clocking under $10. Such a steal! I guess this place has become a staple of the gas station here, as they have a nice little outdoor area set up, though I've never stayed. They do get a bit crowded during peak times and they ARE a taco truck, so be prepared to wait if visiting for late-night-tacos. But they're definitely worth the wait. --- sweet: BEST quesabirria I've had in the South Bay (great consomme!) bitter: other meat options less rave-worthy.

Anika

Yelp
I LOVE THEIR QUESADILLAS SO MUCHHHH I also got a burrito before I saw the Eras tour last summer and the experience lowkey rivaled the concert.
google avatar

Ron T.

Yelp
Quesabirria.... That is all you need to know about this food truck at the Union 76 station on Fair Oaks and Ahwanee Ave in Sunnyvale. I am sure the other offerings are good, too; however after trying the Quesa Birria tacos (fried cheese and beef tacos, the beef is stewed with peppers, garlic and spices - Jalisco style) - I have never chosen to get anything else! Definitely a small family-run truck and likely using recipes handed down to them from their parents/grandparents. They have a few tables with umbrellas outside to have a quick bite there, but most of their business is to go.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
Best tacos in the Bay Area! Fair prices as well. Only thing they are missing is a reward program!
google avatar

Corina M.

Yelp
Quesabirria tacos in Sunnyvale... yes please!!! Soooooo delicious!!! The tortillas were crisp, gooey cheese, tender beef & flavorful/rich consume. I'm seriously impressed! It's always the little "hole in the wall" spots that are the best!! Located in the 76 gas station right off 101 at the Fair Oaks exit, this spot is super convenient! They have tables for outdoor seating too. It's dangerous how close I live, cus I'm going to want to have quesabirria tacos way more than I should!! 5/5, delicious!!!

son n.

Yelp
I work on Matilda and 237 so this place is really close by. Thought I would drop by for lunch. Bought 2 tacos lengua and 1 jarritos. Tacos were decent. Not bad but not amazing. I thought the lengua was too over cooked. It was very soft, didn't have a slight bite to it. Food was really pricey. $4.50 for each tacos. And $3.00 for the drink. I remember the whole point of going to taco truck was it offered slightly cheaper price than a brick and mortar store. I noticed this trend spreading all around. It's not cheaper anymore, all about same price. I also noticed they didn't have the price on the menu display in front of the truck. Maybe I didn't see the right one, or they didn't want to show high prices?? Also, jarritos only had pineapple. This is second time I went without a good selection of flavors.
google avatar

Marco W.

Yelp
July 4, 2024 the lady working at the front window taking the order is so rude. I've been going here for 67 years when these two ladies work this truck they are the most rudest meanest disrespectful people ever.
google avatar

Kenisha B.

Yelp
Steak super burrito...we literally just left and I had to leave a review. The best burrito I ever had!! And growing up in Oakland, I've had my share of tacos and burritos. The best part was the toasted tortilla and it was well balanced, not too salty.
google avatar

Jasmin L.

Yelp
this taco truck is a MUST try!!! birria tacos ($15 for 3 tacos + consume): (9.5/10) the consome was so divine and filled with so much umami & meat! it paired so well with the crispy tacos that were filled with plenty of meat, onions, and cilantro. this is the perfect meal on a cold night out. it satisfied all my cravings and more. i'll definitely be back to try more options from their menu. the service was friendly & efficient. we got our tacos within 5-10 minutes and everyone seemed to get their food pretty quickly!

Javier B.

Yelp
I got a torta with cabeza and this is what I got, a torta full of FAT! I DO NOT recommend eating here cause this is a prime example of how they care about their customers.
google avatar

Sakshi A.

Yelp
Our go to taco truck in the area. Their veggie options were good too. They also do a pretty awesome quesabirria! Pricing is a bit high for a truck though.
google avatar

Keri T.

Yelp
Best taco truck in South Bay. Need gas? Get some fire tacos while you're at it. Super fresh ingredients and literally everything on the menu is good.
google avatar

Lawrence H.

Yelp
The best bang for your buck tacos in the area! We tried almost all of the meats and everything is super flavorful and well seasoned. I also love that the taco tortillas are grilled to the point of having a slight crunch. The quesabirrias are pretty good but not the greatest around. The consome is a bit bland and the fillings in our quesabirrias were uneven - meat on one side and cheese on the other. However, I did like that they were filled generously, and the birria meat is super tender. Overall I really love this taco truck! The cashier is a super friendly dude and the prices are lower than other taco places around, so that's a huge plus as well!

Yelp
The Best! It was so good! The birria taco was perfect and the way they did Carne Asada taco was perfect too! Oooooowee that green salsa got me! It's spicy and I was not expecting it~ good, and that red one is something special! I loved that it was enough to fill me up, and the pepper it came with was big and really good! The limes were also really good, and I had a whole delicious radish all to myself. Make sure to bring cash for the tip! I only had my card so was unable to tip, but I surely will next time! Heeeyy that lady that works there is something special too! Best service~ Everybody come check it out~ I hope they never change :D
