The hype was real at Sophia Steak and it did not disappoint. The lobster and shishito was a combo I never knew I needed. The miso salmon was glazed to perfection. The surf and turf was also great. And to end it off with the decadent 13 layer chocolate cake was the perfect end to the meal.

This past July marked the very first time trying the famed limited north shore steakhouse chain and was so delighted with the experience. If you love steak and wine, you're in for a real treat here. When it comes to fine dining out in the burbs, it doesn't get any better than Sophia. From the aesthetic of the venue, the excellent customer service to the extreme high quality and taste of the food; Sophia is the ultimate steakhouse experience. The service is truly wonderful and the food is remarkable at competitive prices. It was my wife & I's 10-year anniversary and after dining in here, we strongly agreed we could come back here. Free valet parking, plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months and the passing trains nearby didn't bother us. I wish for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s) of this lovely restaurant.

Google
Amazing customer service. My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary and ordered some drinks, apps, 2 steaks and dessert. There were some minor issues with our food and the staff took care of it without us even asking. I can’t wait to come back for another celebration. Huge shout out to the managers on duty + our server Santiago.

Google
One of the best places I ever visited in the last years. Sometimes you may hit totally bad place, sometimes something may be not good, sometimes you may visit place where everything is ok, but still you feel not totally pleased and happy. This place is absolutely awesome and amazing. Starting from appearance and taste id the dishes and finishing with unique deserts and cocktails! Service is also attentive. Definitely will return few more times.

Google
Classic and modern at the same time. Every drink and dish exceeded what's normally served at a steak house. Staff very helpful and attentive. Nice wine list too.

Google
What a treat!! A+ all the way around. Large wine menu. Beet salad starter with prawns. Superb scallops. Ribeye with foie gras butter was excellent!

Google
A delicious first time experience. Waitstaff was very attentive, food was wonderful. We came here without a reservation on a Mon bite to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Loved the choices of cocktails to kick off our celebration. Don’t bypass the cherry cosmopolitan. Chopped salad and Caesar was wonderful. Always love me some arm fries with aioli as a side and a dessert to share to cap off the night with blond brownie and vanilla gelato. It rained earlier, but the outdoor patio which is generous would be beautiful on a summer night.

Sophia's offers excellent hospitality and good food, paired with exceptional service. We were there to celebrate our anniversary, and the staff made us feel welcomed and special throughout our meal. However, our dining experience was affected by an issue with flies and fruit flies. The area where we were seated had numerous flies buzzing around our drinks and getting close to our food, which unfortunately made the experience less enjoyable. While the restaurant excels in service and cuisine, addressing this issue would significantly improve the overall atmosphere for diners. Update: After an initial experience that didn’t fully meet our expectations, the General Manager of Sophia Steak, Neil, personally reached out to invite us back to showcase the true caliber of the restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the entire experience was exceptional. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the warm welcome we received to the attentive service provided by our waiter. Neil made a point to be present and attentive, ensuring that every guest in the restaurant felt valued. This second visit truly reflected the high standards of Sophia Steak, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to experience the restaurant at its best. Thank you, Neil, and the entire Sophia Steak team, for turning things around and making our dining experience so enjoyable.

Yelp
Phenomenal steakhouse experience. Once you find your way in to the restaurant from valet (there is not a clear path or direction), the hostess is ready and happy to help you. We made reservations prior and it only took a few moments to be seated. Our waitress was so kind to bring us two glasses of champagne as we sat down as we had previously let them know that we were there celebrating. My husband and I both have some food allergies which the staff took seriously. There were a few occasions where our waitress went back to speak with the chef for clarification on ingredients which was much appreciated. The service, food, and drinks were all superb. I would be thrilled to dine here again.

Yelp
They rushed us out. I don't even know how it happened. There was a four-top next to us. More than half the desserts on the table. My coffee nearly full. His double espresso gone. No offer to box. Initially we were going to valet but they were nowhere to be found. Tuesday night may have been the worst choice ever. There was difficulty setting the reservation but also SO MANY tables when we arrived. We should have pushed for a nicer table. ----- Yellowfin Tuna Tartare | avocado, crispy shallot, sesame, macadamia nut, wasabi ponzu - 4.5/5, served with fresh, slightly greasy crisps of wonton Jumbo Lump Crab Cake | apple-celery salad, remoulade - 4.5/5, salad slivers were interestingly chunky Beets & Burrata | cara cara orange, pistachio + sesame crunch, green goddess - 5/5, should have started with this cold as a starter Prime Skirt Steak | served with chimichurri - 4.5/5, too thick so that's probably why it's a bit rare. Companion has odd tastes to choose this here *shrugs* Pork Chop Tomahawk | vande rose farms duroc, oreganata, sweet + spicy pickled peppers - 5/5, it was fine Brussels Sprouts & Bacon - 5/5, great blanche and roast Truffle-Parm Fries - 5/5, great aoili dip, chunky cut steak fries, but 2/5 when packed and no dip at home 13 Layer Chocolate Cake | Hazelnut Crunch, Milk Chocolate Buttercream, Dark Chocolate Ganache - 4/5, not sure that I would order it again here Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding | Warm, rich bread pudding baked with salted caramel sauce and topped with toffee sauce. Served with vanilla ice cream - 4/5, not sure that I would order it again here summary: reorder the crab cake, tuna tartare, brussel sprouts, fries if you can finish them at the table Espresso martini, black coffee, double espresso - nothing to wrote home about

Yelp
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed this place. We loved the Prosecco served and the old fashioned were spot on. We ordered the crispy lobster and then the tuna. My husband ordered the NY strip and I had the filet with the cognac sauce. For the dessert we ordered cake which was worth every penny. The service was fantastic and we were treated very well! Ambiance was a little noisy but we went on a Saturday night.

B D.

Yelp
Went here with friends, and the ambiance was nice. The prices for steaks were off the charts, however, and charging extra for special butters to go on the steak when the price for the steak is already sky high???? And beside that, the smallest steak, which I wanted to order because it was a special occasion, was sold out by 7:30, when we were there.

Yelp
Dark and lovely, Sophia Steak is perched at the corner of Laurel and Western, at the northernmost edge of Lake Forest's row of restaurants. Valet parking is available, but arriving early in the evening as we did, there is ample street parking facing the Metra line. The restaurant is comfortable and elegant, very dimly lit, with booths in the front and along one side and a bar off to the left. I was disappointed that we were seated at a table in the middle with many of the booths still unoccupied. We had early reservations and I saw there were couples and young families already dining in. We were offered bread and butter, and water was dispensed as we looked over the menu (hard to see as I said it is dark). If you were to observe us you would have seen us constantly moving around the skinny dining lamp at our table, to read the menu, to take pictures, etc. I ordered a Commuter Train (vodka, lychee, lemon, wine--ha,ha--the Metra Line travels down Western). We ordered an app of crispy lobster and shishitos--wonderful--like an elevated calamari with mild shishitos, crispy garlic and a dipping sauce. Since this is a steak house, I ordered the 10 oz Flatiron Steak Sophia - peppercorn-crusted, roasted mushrooms and cognac cream. I ordered it cooked Medium and it was served Medium Well/Well, which was unfortunate since the sauce was rich and delicious. My companion ordered the 10 oz prime skirt steak with chimichurri, and they said it was perfectly cooked. We shared a cone of Truffle Parm fries which were simply amazing--light and crispy with tender insides, the truffle flavor was not overpowering and the fries were amazing dipped in the aioli sauce. The roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon and leeks were also quite good--crispy to the tooth but not overly crunchy and with a sweet and salty taste. We concluded the meal with the Apple Crisp which was a letdown. The oat crisp was overly dry, the inside apples were half cold/lukewarm and tough. What should have been the crescendo to the meal fell flat. The manager asked about the dessert and we quite honestly told them and they took it off the bill. Service was friendly and efficient without being obtrusive. Our meal was overall quite good, with a few areas for improvement. We will be back -- for the amazing truffle Parm fries and maybe to try the Daily Special -- Steak Frites (Monday) or Fried Chicken (Sunday) or the Roasted Branzino (Friday).

Yelp
Amazing service and amazing food. Our server was through, sweet and patient. The ambience was old school with holiday decorations.

Bob C.

Yelp
Good staff friendly. Food was great. I had the ribeye. Cocktails were excellent. Old fashioned was perfect

Jianhui S.

Yelp
Top notch food and service definitely will be back! The wine and steak are perfect! Lobster is must have

Yelp
We recently visited Sophia steak to celebrate an anniversary. We've been to their other location numerous times, but this was our first time here. When we arrived, we noticed that they had complimentary valet parking but decided to park ourselves as there was plenty of parking at the time we went. But to have complimentary valet is super fun! To enter we walked passed their patio, which was spacious and lit up very well. Once inside we were greeted by the hostess who promptly showed us to our seats. Since they had the note that we were celebrating an anniversary, we were offered complimentary bubbly to start. We decided to order the porter house for 2, it came with 2 salads, 2 sides & the dessert. The porterhouse was plenty for us to eat, and we couldn't decide on a vegetable to save our life so we ended up with two potatoes which with our salad fel like a great balance. All in all we had a great dinner & can't wait to come back to Sophia's again soon!

Yelp
Nice place food was good, portions average, service ok, just didn't ring the bell for me. A little "fake forest" for me.

Franklin A.

Yelp
I been here a couple of times. The food and service is always great. I like how they always ask you if you are celebrating a special occasion. Definitely recommend. They skirt steaks is one of the best I ever had.

Yelp
We are being induced with our first baby on Tuesday and came here as our last date night of two. It was wonderful! We had the maple bacon appetizer which was great. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my husband had the swordfish with sides of Whipped Mashed Potato's and Broccoli and everything was cooked perfectly. The steak was cooked to perfection, potato's were delicious! The bar is absolutely beautiful and my husband really enjoyed the old fashioned. They have a few mocktail options which is always nice to have an actual drink to chose from. Our server was beyond kind, and attentive. It has a beautiful atmosphere. The patio is also very cute! Would 100% recommend.

Baby F.

Yelp
Love the food, service and cozy ambiance. Prime ribeye expertly cut with no gristle and cooked perfectly to order. Grilled octopus was so tender it could be cut with a fork. Service is friendly and helpful with menu. Free valet was welcome plus. Definitely return and recommend. Two visits in two months - very consistent.

Yelp
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here in LF location. Arrival: Valet parking is available and there is a coat check in a foyer, before you enter the restaurant. Both are much appreciated conveniences. Special occasion: I mentioned our anniversary in the reservation notes and the hostess confirmed it with us. Shortly after seating our waiter brought us two glasses bottle of sparkling wine and wished us happy anniversary. The wine was quite tasty. He also brought us a complimentary desert. Atmosphere: cozy, trendy, and just enough elegant without being stuffy. There was energy and good feel. Decor is on a darker side, it is a steakhouse, after all, but modern. Service: Buntit was attentive, knowledgeable, and did not rush us to turn the table. Food: everything was tasty. We had lobster and shishito peppers, wedge salad, filet mignon with chimichurri sauce, broccoli, roasted potato hash, and chocolate cake. Nice spirit selection, not large but everyone can find something they like. Now we need to check out their other location.

Sandy K.

Yelp
I was invited to a graduation celebration here last night and we had such a lovely time. The back room was really beautiful and calm, the wait staff was super attentive and on top of everything, the three courses of food were really, really wonderful. They made a large party look like it was easy to pull off. But that's not the only good experience I had with the staff. I had parked with the free valet and my car had an issue when they tried to repark it closer to the restaurant. My hat goes off to the manager, Carlos, and the valet, John. Carlos found me to let me know there was an issue and he had already helped brainstorm how to fix the situation. He and John really saved my butt and I can't thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality, and how absolutely calm they were. The issue was my own fault, but they still helped me find a way through that was so respectful and generous. My thanks and tips are one thing; the wacky story they will be able to tell for a while is another. I hope they know how much they helped me! This restaurant has hired some wonderful people who go above and beyond.

Yelp
Service was great Food came out hot and ready Beautiful clean area very formal Reasonably priced as well

Dina E.

Yelp
Cozy restaurant with great menu selections. The vibe at Sophia Steak was a combination of sophisticated, yet approachable. The restaurant featured a long bar on one side of the restaurant, a cozy dining area with round booths and wooden tables and a small private room in the rear. For shareables, we tried the crab cakes which were superb...plump and filled with lump crab. We also tried the burrata, which was rich and creamy and topped with pistachios, the creamed spinach and the potato hash. My favorite was the main, lobster bucatini with a red chili flake sauce! The bucatini could have been slightly more al dente, but that wouldn't deter me from ordering it again, the sauce was delicious and the lobster plentiful! We appreciated the service with a smile and easy street parking. The restaurant is located off Western Ave, adjacent to the train line which is also convenient if using public transportation. I'll definitely be back!

Solomon B.

Yelp
Simply put, Sophia Steak is a must-miss. The reviews on here make this local greasy spoon sound like a little slice of steakhouse heaven in the heart of Lake Forest... I would argue it's more of a purgatory. The s in Sophia probably stands for soil because that's what you're going to do your pants following a visit to this local joint. My creamed spinach came out just about creamed to perfection and my colleague just about slurped it up.

Jacqueline N.

Yelp
We had to have a few drinks and dishes remade, which birthday we don't do but the steak was burned and the drinks were too strong, which they happily did. Overall amazing atmosphere but did wasn't worth the price

Melissa G.

Yelp
Top notch in every way. Outstanding food, service and customer support. A little snafu with getting a table but they went above and beyond to rectify. Gracious and yummy.

Milan S.

Yelp
Incredible food, friendly service, master chefs. What amazing steak and atmosphere. Try the fries too!

Pamela D.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner reservations early on a Saturday night. They offer valet parking but we were early enough that there was plenty of available free parking on the next block. There is a classic steakhouse vibe inside, with dark woods and large booths. We were early enough that we were given a choice of sitting at a table or booth. We opted for the latter. Service was fine for most part. They were a little slow to clear our table, which was surprising considering how many employees we saw walking around. Prices are what you would expect for a higher-end steakhouse these days--by that I mean not cheap. The food we ordered was excellent, as were the drinks. My swordfish and husband's Delmonico ribeye were both cooked to perfection. We give Sophia Steak 4 1/2 stars but will round up to 5.

George P.

Yelp
Another great addition to the North Shore dining scene. Sophia's checks all the boxes...Great Vibrant atmosphere, Great Service and Great Food. The menu has something for everybody. I enjoyed a Caesar Salad and a few cocktails at the bar. I will tell you bring your wallet if you are having Steak. Enjoy!

Rob S.

Yelp
Came with a group. Ordered apps. Had the octopus, steak skewers, tuna tartar, and a fried lobster dish. Portions were small. We ordered 2 of each for the 8 of us and I got a small bite of each app when sharing them equally. Ordered a dirty martini... what steakhouse serves that without an olive and no garnish whatsoever? Had the ribeye and wife had the skirt steak. I ordered my ribeye rare. Ordered whipped potato's and the broccoli sides. Friend ordered the tomahawk. My steak came out medium and heavily coated in black peppercorns. The broccoli never was served. The steak lacked flavor because all I could taste was black pepper. The peppercorns were so large that the steak had a crunch to it, let alone over done for the way I take my steak. The steak sauce is meh... I'm sure it's homemade but masks what should be a quality wet aged cut of meat. The whipped potatos had a layer of oil floating on top of it with some sort of herb. Too greasy and odd flavor. Would have loved to try the broccoli. Friend who ordered the tomahawk said the cut didn't taste like a dry aged steak that is salt seasoned should taste. Wife's skirt steak was okay with the Chimichurri but also had a peppery flavor. Tried our friend's truffle fries with an aioli which were pretty good. For desert, their menu lacks steakhouse staples like crème brûlée or more than a chocolate cake. $4 ice cream is not quite an upscale desert of choice (although the ice cream was good at least). Service was sloppy and inattentive except for the guys refilling water - they were on top of it and the best part of the evening. I was hoping to find a nice steak spot close to home to save the drives downtown but unfortunately, Sophia didn't live up to the rave. Probably won't be back.

Matt R.

Yelp
A Thursday evening out with friends to celebrate a birthday. We arrived and all had a cocktail at the bar before being seated. The drinks are excellent and served with water. Upon being seated, we noticed that our menus were customized with a header celebrating our friend's birthday - very nice touch! Our server and overall services was first class. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from a well curated wine list and somewhat reasonable prices. The meals everyone had including the appetizers were excellent. While making a name for themselves on steak, I had their roasted chicken and I can say unequivocally it was the best I have ever had. Several others in our party mentioned much the same. Our dessert centered around the birthday but their attnention on the event was special. I highly recommend Sophia's but make sure to get a reservation! I look forward to dining there again soon.

Yelp
This review is for an early dinner for four in the dining room on a Sunday night. service: Noel was our server and everything you've heard about Sophia's waitstaff is true. He was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Food runners, managers, and hosts were uniformly gracious and extremely hospitable. bar: Sophia's strong suit is cocktails, not beer. I had a well Manhattan ($16) and my son had a Fort Sheridan Old Fashioned ($15). Both were very good. The menu boasts Coors Light and Stella Artois? Although they did have a Revolution Infinity Hero IPA in can ($7). food: We started with the crab cake ($24) and thought it was fine. My wife ordered the Sunday night-only fried chicken ($34) and it was good. I had the Flat Iron Steak Sophia ($43) and it was also good. Our son had the spicy lobster Bucatini ($48) and enjoyed it. Our daughter-in-law had the Forza burger and steak fries ($19). The fries earned special mention. Our only side was the potato gratin, which was good. Dessert was Sophia sundae ($14) and a warm apple crisp ($14). Both desserts were good. Everything was good, but there were no standouts. Expect solidly executed steakhouse standbys. $300 for four persons, only two were drinking. Note there is a mandatory 3% surcharge. details: Décor is fantastic, dark, traditional steakhouse feel. Linens, flatware, and tableware are all stunning. There is valet parking; however, we snagged a street spot - probably because it was Sunday? Reservations highly recommended.

Yelp
We are in the area from Virginia to attend a wedding. Yesterday was my birthday and we selected Sophia's based on the reviews to celebrate. Upon entering the restaurant I enjoyed the energy, decor and overall ambiance. When it was time to seat us we were taken to a back room that was starkly different. Open room, bright white tablecloths and pictures of large stars on the walls. More like a separate party room and nothing close to what the main restaurant area looked like. The tablecloth on our table was much too large for our table and I kept getting my feet caught it in. The food - beet salad was delicious. Cocktail sauce served with the colossal shrimp tastes like ketchup until the final bite. The horseradish was all on the bottom. No one told us we needed to stir the condiment. The shrimp themselves were delicious. The bread rolls didn't resemble anything we are accustomed to being served at a steakhouse. Plain, cold, grocery store like. The Sophia flat iron steak was a huge disappointment. I ordered it medium and when I cut a piece the steak bled, a lot. My husband did eat it but I had specifically asked the waiter what Sophia's medium was to which he replied pink throughout. Definitely not the case with my steak. My husband ordered the burger and Parmesan truffle fries, both delicious. Brussels sprouts and bacon - Brussels sprouts need to have the ends cut off or cooked longer. They were so hard it was hard to cut or chew them. Overall our experience was a huge disappointment. Recommend eating at the bar, and ordering a burger.

Glinda M.

Yelp
Food is outstanding, especially the appetizers. The only reason for four stars is that the Wilmette location is soooooo Loud it is hard to hear people at your table. The back room is better but has zero ambiance.

Buddy D.

Yelp
Increidble little gem in the center of small town Lake Forest IL. From the appetizer to the salads to the main course and desert, just an all around great experience in fine dining. Steaks and perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The ambiance of the interior is fabulous and inviting and the outdoor seating is wonderful in the summertime, although this is Illinois and warm sunny summer days are the most scarce commodity. if you have a chance, please go to Sophia Steak and enjoy being pampered with a great staff and wonderful food. Everything on the menu is worth trying and absolutely fabulous! The valet parking is an added bonus.

Judy K.

Yelp
We recently went to celebrate relatives birthday. It was extremely crowded and very noisy on a Friday night. The food was extremely overpriced and expensive. Everything was AlaCarte. Food did not have anything served with it. Filet Mignon was only fair. There was carafe of water on table. It was hot outside and ice had melted. Service was not top notch. Had to ask for butter, more water. The ambiance was nice but will not be returning. Please save your money and go elsewhere.

Jisha J.

Yelp
What a lovely dining experience! I'm so happy when I find great local places to eat and enjoy a good meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and crated a very cozy, romantic ambiance. The service (kudos to Isabella) was excellent and she answered all the questions I had. The food was all delicious. We ordered the steak for two with the salad, sides and dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back again!

Havi L.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday with family. Food was fantastic, crispy lobster for the starter and NY strip entree were just perfect. Our server was so friendly and nice, very informative and helpful. Already planning on coming back soon!

Pierre N.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant in Lake Forest. It has high quality steaks and fantastic service. I definitely recommend the crab cakes and try the wet age NY strip!

Stephen C.

Yelp
Who doesn't season a steak with salt? They certainly don't with their del monico. Also don't check doneness when dropping the steak off. Nice place, but sloppy steakhouse manners.

Tanya A.

Yelp
As soon as you walk into the restaurant you know it will be a good time!! We have been to the wilmette location so we were familiar with the menu. We had a group of 10 which allowed us to order a little bit of everything. The tuna tartar was amazing! Def my top pick. The green salad, mushrooms, and shrimp all came in second!! Carol did a great job recommendation dishes and catering to our large group. Can't wait to come back!

Marc A.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service, and steak house ambience. Party of three, wine, appetizers, and steak dinners, with tip around $400. But definitely worth the price.

Food M.

Yelp
Great steaks, exceptional service in a very well designed setting. And they offer free valet parking

Jason F.

Yelp
I'm giving this restaurant two stars not because of the food or the service; my waiter and wait staffed were amazing. But because I came here for my birthday. (Big regret) My fiancé made reservations and just like a post before this we were also seated at the bar. What was the point of making a reservation when the hosts (useless btw) sat us at a bar table!? I asked to be seated at a booth in the main dinning room (2 tables were open and the restaurant was not busy) they stated those were taken. Needless to say as good as the food was. I did not feel welcomed by the lack of hospitality both hosts provided. When we left the restaurant those same booths were still available. One of the hosts was very poorly dressed. She was wearing a pink spaghetti strap top and what looked like leggings. Forgive me but I thought this was a high end restaurant. The male host was dressed okay but was wearing a suit two sizes too big but he was of no help either. I'm pretty disappointed in this restaurant. I would advise not to make a reservation and just walk in as you probably will get better service? Overall great food horrible hospitality

Scott S.

Yelp
Excellent experience, couldn't have been any better! Food Service and Ambiance were 5 Star, Thanks again for a wonderful evening.

Dante M.

Yelp
Coming here for a special event is a must! You get the same quality food as you would in a steak house in the city, and the ambiance and service here was stellar as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! We got French onion soups to start, and they were delicious! My brother said that he wished there was more cheese on his, as some places give you that burnt cheese over the edge that is always so delicious! My mom got the beet salad and a meatball appetizer, which were both really good! The meatballs were nice and tender, super flavorful, and very decent sized! For the entrees, I got the filet mignon Sophia's style, my brother got a ribeye Sophia's style, and my grandma got the fried chicken (Sunday special). For the sides, we got the creamed spinach and Parmesan truffle fries. All of this food was so delicious, and the steaks were all cooked perfectly medium rare! These were some of the best steaks that I've had in a while! And since it was my brothers bday, they brought him a complementary slice of chocolate cake, and everyone a glass of champagne to celebrate!

Jody B.

Yelp
Hubby and I went here for a belated Valentine's dinner. I had to make it a couple of weeks out because reservations at the time I wanted were full. I indicated it was our Valentine's dinner on my reservation. We were seated at a table in the middle of the room. It would have been nice to seat us in the back or at a booth (I saw other couples being seated in them)... but I could have asked and they would have accommodated I believe. Service was attentive and not rushed. We enjoyed our cocktails and then ordered a salad to split after a while. Once we got our salad, we ordered our entrees. I got the skirt steak with chimichurri. Hubby got the Dover sole. We each had a side. I had creamed spinach and hubby had broccoli. Hubby finished his whole meal and was still a bit hungry... but was satisfied. I took half of my meal home. Both of us felt the food and drinks were delicious. It's a bit expensive, so I wouldn't say this is a good value. But if you don't mind higher prices, you won't be disappointed with the service and the food. They said we could sit at the bar without making reservations. We figure we will try that sometime and order burgers.

Gina R.

Yelp
This was our third visit. The occasion was for my birthday. Many local restaurants are closed on Mondays, so this night the place was packed with diners. We made reservations online and it did not appear that it would be that busy, since every time slot was open. They seated us in booth by the bar which was not optimal, but I was willing to deal with that. We ordered the bacon appetizer and the shrimp, which was quite good, if quite pricey. The steak was good as usual and the halibut I ordered was ok, but a little bland. Our server seemed overwhelmed with tables. There was really no effort to acknowledge the special occasion we were there for. They printed my name on a menu which was nice, but aside from that, nothing. They tried to sell us some desserts but we declined. A little acknowledgment or small treat would have been appreciated. They tossed the bill on our table and didn't even thank us for being there. It's the most impersonal birthday experience I've ever had dining at a restaurant. I will think twice before celebrating another special occasion there. It's ok if you want a nice steak and a casual night out.

Yelp
Wow! Thank you, Sophia Steakhouse. I'm currently traveling for work, and it was my birthday. I placed a Togo order, and the food was phenomenal. The cherry on top is that they snuck a birthday cake into my Togo bag, on the house. Thank you for making this birthday special, especially since I'm away from my family.

Yelp
If I had a rich grandpa who lived in Lake forest he would eat here- when he is not at the country club that is. If I were a trust fund brat, mommy would take me here on Friday nights. That said, the food and service were "top notch".....hmmp...hmmp says Judge Smails. It's pricy, but given the elasticity of demand, these diners could care less. That's "inelastic"for those of you still reading. Econ class dismissed.

Yelp
The Lake Forest location is dark & sleek, with a mature vibe. The bartenders are attentive & highly knowledgeable. The menu is killer, with shareable selections; we had the steak tartare & hamachi crudo. And you have multiple areas to choose from to sit; outside patio, bar, dining room...it's a great layout.

Yelp
For the most part, we really like Sophia Steak...but last evening, six of us stopped in for a lighter meal and drinks. My wife and I and one other person ordered the drink, Kickstarter. It's made with Mescal and Tequila and we've had it before, recognizing it was a very flavorful drink with just a little ice. However, last evening, the drinks were brought to our table filled with ice. So much ice that the drink itself was lost in the glass. I made comment to our server, very attentive person, but nothing was done about it. I didn't want to make a scene so I didn't follow up. Bottom line, most likely will not be going back for sometime and when I do I will drink ice water.

Yelp
Good dining experience, understanding this is a steak house, they still Only have one dish for my vegetarian spouse, This limits our visits. I enjoy the prime rib, but only available on Saturday. I do find the menu is a bit overpriced.

Yelp
Went here during the holidays and happily took a seat in the bar when our party of four did not have reservations. What a great vibe, friendly staff and exceptional food. I had the New York Strip and it was cooked to perfection with savory after taste. The truffle fries were a let down only because I think so many places try to do them and they are basic. I suppose I was expecting a little flare that just wasn't there. My stars would be 4.5 but the drink selection for diets and common names was not available. Limited beers and the trying of too fancy of a drink menu lost me.
