Also, Eric, the GM is always so welcoming to everyone. Sophia’s Steak – A Flawless Dining Experience From the moment you step into Sophia’s Steak, it’s clear you’re in for something special. The service was truly exceptional. Our server was the highlight of the night — gracious, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. He carefully explained each dish, offered insightful recommendations, and added a personal touch that made the experience all the more enjoyable. I ordered the Prime Skirt Steak, while my companion had the Prime Rib, both accompanied by Truffle Parmesan Fries and White Cheddar Gratin. The steaks were absolute perfection — cooked flawlessly, tender, and bursting with flavor. Compliments to the chefs, and a special mention to whoever crafted that chimichurri sauce — simply wow. The sides were equally impressive: the fries were rich and aromatic, while the white cheddar gratin was decadently creamy and satisfying. We ended the meal with a Peanut Butter Cream Pie with an Oreo Cookie Crust, the perfect sweet note to close a truly outstanding dinner. In summary, Sophia’s Steak delivers on every front — atmosphere, service, and cuisine — with an attention to detail that sets it apart. Great place for family functions, anniversaries, group parties, or any occasion. The food is delicious, I had a scallop that melts in your mouth, friendly staff, and the ambiance is excellent. Highly recommend.

I love Wilmette’s little downtown area and have been looking forward to revisiting Sophia since my last visit a while ago. The ambiance is one of the highlights—the interior at night blends a speakeasy vibe with elegance. The space is roomy, making it great for different occasions: casual hangouts with friends, anniversary celebrations, or even business gatherings. The outdoor patio with heaters is a nice touch for colder evenings. I also appreciate their by-the-glass wine selection and the variety on the menu. Now, to the less positive side. When my sister and I visited, the restaurant was quite busy even at a late hour. Without a reservation, we were pleasantly surprised not to wait long for a table. We ordered cocktails, a 16oz ribeye to share, and the beets & burrata salad. I always order my steak medium rare, but this time it came out rare. I tried a piece, but needed to send it back, unfortunately, it returned with little improvement—still undercooked and this time with more oil on the plate, as if it had just been quickly seared without adjusting the internal temperature. The meat quality itself also felt average. I’m sorry, Sophia, but I expected more from this place when it comes to the food

Dined with two of my kids this evening. My kids each ordered their skirt steak, which I love, and I ordered the strip steak. I can honestly say it was the absolute best strip, probably any steak, I’ve made or ordered in over 20 years. Cooked to perfection, medium rare, and incredibly flavorful! As I’ve gotten older, shied away from eating a lot of red meat, plus just wanted something a bit more flavorful. But I’m now heading back to Sophia’s in a couple weeks, it was that good! Such a great place for a nice dinner!! The hostess Annette was so sweet and thoughful as we were celebrating. Our waiter, Jamie, also took great care of us. We enjoyed this moment with our family so much 🥰

On arrival, I was welcomed personally by General Manager Erik Roemer, while the host, Patty, set the evening in motion with warmth and efficiency. Service throughout the night was anchored by our server the charismatic José and further supported by Beverage Manager Danny, whose presence ensured that hospitality felt both polished and personable. The restaurant itself is striking. Dark, moody interiors create the air of an intimate bourbon lounge, while the wraparound bar, gleaming with top-shelf spirits, positions itself as both centerpiece and promise. The space exudes refinement without feeling inaccessible, an environment carefully designed to heighten anticipation for what follows. Drinks opened the evening with a statement of precision. The St. Germain Spritz arrived fragrant and floral, its delicate sweetness offset by a touch of lemon that evoked a sense of alpine freshness. The North Shore Spritz provided an elegant counterpoint with notes of hibiscus lending vibrancy and lift. Both cocktails displayed a clear commitment to balance and craft. The first bites of the night, salt and pepper bread served with whipped butter, were deceptively simple yet executed with finesse. More ambitious were the potatoes and caviar, presented beautifully on a wooden board with a slice of lemon. The potatoes themselves were sublime, melting in the mouth and showing comfort at its highest level. The caviar, however, was subdued. Where it should have been the defining note, it faded behind the strength of the potato, leaving the dish missing something. The main courses were where Sophia Steak demonstrated its authority. The house steak, the namesake Sophia, arrived with a perfectly charred crust and a deep, savory profile. Accompanied by quartered mushrooms in a sauce that recalled a soulful beef gravy, it was both technically assured and warmly nostalgic. Yet it was the Ahi Tuna Tataki was what defined the meal. The sesame crust delivered texture and spice, while the papaya and avocado gave the softness and balance. Served cold, the tuna was exceptional, silky, fresh, and free from any suggestion of heaviness. It was a dish that captured restraint and harmony with remarkable clarity. A side of grilled asparagus with truffled béarnaise provided exactly what it needed to: a crisp counterpoint, elevated by the richness of its sauce but retaining the clean snap of the vegetable itself. Dessert was a final flourish of indulgence. The thirteen-layer chocolate cake, with its interplay of hazelnut crunch, milk chocolate buttercream, and dark chocolate ganache, was decadent yet composed. Each forkful offered a luxurious depth without ever overwhelming the palate. Always a great experience at Sophia Steak! We had our first wedding anniversary dinner here and they went above and beyond to make it special. Tuna tartare is amazing. As is the Porterhouse steak. Truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

A truly wonderful experience at Sophia Steak for a Saturday night dinner date. The staff was so friendly from the host to the multiple servers that handled our table. Our server was wonderful and really made our experience even better. We had a perfect table in the back corner of the restaurant. It felt like a perfectly romantic spot away from the other tables. We had the crispy lobster and shishito appetizer and loved it. We both ordered steaks, I had the 8 oz filet and my beau ordered the skirt steak. They were both cooked perfectly. The brussel sprouts and whipped potatoes were delicious. For dessert we had the Buck Russell's Chocolate Cake, which our server kindly gave us complimentary. We were very stuffed needless to say and it was truly a memorable date night. We will for sure be coming back to Sophia Steak for a special night in the future.

Reservations for five at 5:30 and were quicky seated. Valet parking is free but plenty of street parking. We started off with cocktails and truffle fries for apps. Both were great. Service was excellent, water was always filled. Our server was great, place was cozy and vibes were nice. We ordered the ribeyes for my wife's birthday and we ordered the Sunday specials which was fried chicken. Very moist and tasty. Others ordered the filet mignon try tip or skirt steak. We ordered fresh grilled asparagus, creamed spinach and Brussels sprouts. Great food and excellent service. We'll definitely have to try this out again.

I made a reservation here for my husbands birthday. We absolutely LOVED it. The day before they called to get my husbands name to put on the menu which I though was so thoughtful and a great way to celebrate him. From the moment we walked in we felt so welcomed. I've never had the hostess come check on us in the middle of our meal which made us feel special. We started with the lobster and shishitos which were the best app! My husband and I both got steaks which were cooked to perfection. They also gave my husband a cake with a candle for his birthday, another special touch. Definitely coming back here for another special occasion. So glad we found this gem close to home!

I really wanted to love this place, but they fumbled the steak. The steaks we had were missing the charred flavor, but they were all very tender. The chimichurri itself tasted like it was missing vinegar and brightness. The service was extraordinary and accommodating to my GF needs. I also loved the ambience. The lighting and decor flowed and I loved that the giant doors were open to let the breeze in. I would absolutely come back, but try something other than the steak despite it being a steak house.

Absolutely the best dinner service! Thanks to all the staff for a great celebration for our party. Food is delicious, can't complain and the drinks hit the spot for us. We went on the weekend it was pretty busy but they worked to get us seated right away and also accommodated for our stroller. It's very clean and dimly lit which is standard for a steak house. Of course we had to get steak they were perfectly cooked medium rare. Highly recommend the white cheddar potato gratin.

Had the most AMAZING dinner at Sophia steak a few weeks ago. My sister and I went here for dinner before I flew out to new york to move my stuff in. The service was immediate and so friendly! We started with some champagne and bread rolls. The bread was a little bit dry and skippable tbh but I'm honestly not a huge bread fan to start with so not shocking that I didn't love it. We split the porterhouse steak for two so we each got a choice of a salad, side, and dessert that came along with the steak. I got the super green salad which was so yummy and well balanced. A nice balance of crunch and crispy and fresh! We split the corn and pepper side and the mashed potatoes side which were both fire. The porterhouse itself was AWESOME - perfectly cooked and tender and delicious. After dinner we got the cherry peach cobbler which was so yum and not too sweet. Our waiter was incredible and he brought us two little espresso martinis, comped, which was so kind. It's experiences like that that make me want to go back again and again and again. So personable and fun and great food. The restaurant itself had such a swanky vibe that I loved. Overall a wonderful meal and I will defiantly be going back when Im in town.

Such a great experience here! Excellent customer service. I had a strawberry Basil vodka spritzer drink to start. It was sweet! I had the 8 Oz filet. It was cooked perfectly! I ordered the au gratin potatoes as my side. It's good for two to share but I loved it so much I might not be splitting next time. The potato is thinly layered with cheese incorporated. For dessert we tried the cherry peach cobbler. It was a great way to end the meal!

My sister and I went here, and we shared all of these items: wedge salad, flat iron steak, whipped, potatoes, and brussels sprouts. I thought everything was terrific and I couldn't imagine ordering double that for two people. We were full as ticks sharing all of that. The bar service was attentive ( that's where we sat- at the bar.) because we were watching March madness. Couple of the bartenders seemed a bit sour that we weren't ordering drinks. We just had one glass of wine but that's where we wanted to sit because of the television. It was about $60 per person, but it seemed well worth it as we enjoyed it very much. Haven't found a really great restaurant near Winettka, but this one is pretty good. I think I think for a steakhouse it's pretty reasonable.

This was our second time at Sophia steak and while we will return, we don't quite think it compares to a steakhouse in the city. That said, it's an amazing spot on the north shore for a nice dinner and a solid steak. We got a glass of Far Niente and Turnbull (would recommend both) to start along with the crispy Lobster. The lobster was really tender, although fried. This was my husbands pick as I don't love breaded/fried food, but if you do -- a must. We then got the ribeye and filet with whipped potatoes and Brussels sprouts as a side. I'd recommend it all. Unfortunately, my husbands steak was over cooked but the way they handled the situation is what wil make us return. Incredibly apologetic and immediately made him a new steak. In fact, I've never seen it be turned around that fast. The manager came over also and offered his apologies. The steaks were very tender and with a lot of flavor! For dessert we got the apple crisp - definitely seemed to have more crumbly crisp than apple, but would recommend. Enjoy!

Horrible horrible experience. My friends and I were celebrating my birthday, my reservation was at 7:45, we got there a couple minutes early the hostess told us we could be seated close to 10 minutes after our reservation and that we would get a text when our table was ready. There were so many people that got there after us and were seated right way. It got to 8:15 and I asked if our table was ready yet, they said no that we would have to wait a little longer. 8:25 and our table was not ready yet, by chance I was able to get a reservation at another restaurant. Never coming back to this place again, very disappointing

Second visit in two months. Prime steaks, salmon and short rib prepared perfectly. Ribeyes are the best. Special occasion most recent visit. We love Sophia Steak Wilmette and Lake Forest. Service is Michelin level attentive. If a napkin falls to the floor a replacement appears instantly. Ambiance delivered in cozy modern homey style. Super great value. Definite return soon. Recommend to all.

Celebrated my nephew's bday. They were all so sweet. They printed a menu with a "HBD name" on it. The steaks were delicious; service was great. The ambiance is laid back, busy, popular with locals. Highly recommend for a moist soft steak.

I was skeptical honestly, but how I am converted! Awesome place - nice decor, good service, good steak, reasonable price! Solid wine list! I take my 5-year-old anywhere and she loves meat! Lol. I couldn't imagine how a flat iron steak would taste like when the server described it as a similar cut as the stew meat but their signature flat iron was soft, flavorful (I prefer beefy steak to fatty ribeye but I don't discriminate). Nice to have a place that nails a tough cut of meat The passion fruit pudding was so good that I couldn't help but finished more than I should! Some of the apps/side dishes are a bit hit or miss...hence a star lost...the Caesar salad with anchovies...literally anchovies on top of the over-dressed salad...I thought it would be a shaving all over so each bite has the taste of anchovies umami... The lobster and shisito peppers...sounds great on paper but the execution, imo, needs a bit more refinement to match up to the steak level :)

I made reservations because we wanted to stay closer to home while celebrating a few family members' birthdays. We walked in to a dimly lit romantic setting that felt like a cross between Bavette's and Ralph Lauren Restaurant. The hosts were very welcoming, especially Annette. Our server, Jose, was so personable and kind. We started with the followings apps- lobster with shishito peppers, wagyu skewers, and super green vegetable salad. The salad was my favorite starter. It was so flavorful with pistachios, avocado, broccoli, olives, pepperocini, Parmesan, and dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. I could eat that salad everyday! We enjoyed the Delmonico ribeyes, and NY strip steaks- medium and medium rare, respectively. They were cooked perfectly! The sides really caught my attention. The mushrooms, creamed spinach, garlic broccoli and whipped potatoes could stand on their own; that's how delicious they were. The drinks were as good as you'd expect at a nicer steakhouse. We had champagne and old fashions, both were great. The lighter roast coffee and desserts brought an enjoyable end to our great dinner at Sophia. We will certainly return and appreciate the proximity to home. The service was impeccable from start to end. I miss having service like this post covid. It's making a welcome return. We can't wait to return.

LOVED Sophia Steak! This restaurant has been recommended to me time and time again but it took me a while to try and it was amazing! Sophia Steak is in downtown Wilmette! There's plenty of street parking and a parking lot across the street. We started by ordering drinks... to be honest I don't remember what I ordered because the server who took our drinks made some delicious recommendations and we were all in! The hospitality from the moment we arrived was fantastic! We were then asked we wanted to start with anything. We decided on truffle fries and the Caesar salad. They brought out the fries, of which was fresh and crispy but the truffle aioli was DELICIOUS! We were given the opportunity to choose if we want anchovies on our salad, and they pre-split the salad for each of us to get our own plates. For my entree I got the chimmichuri skirt steak. The flavors and marbling of the steak was amazing! My husband had the Sophia Steak which had caramelized onions and mushrooms. For our sides we shared brussel sprouts and whipped potatoes. The Brussel sprouts were SO GOOD I was excited to eat the left overs for lunch! All in all, I'm excited to come back and try some of the other menu items! Great place for a celebration or special occasion!

Beautiful restaurant atmosphere. I would love to see more diversity in the dining crowd. The food was really good but I had a couple fish bones or shells in my crab cake and clam chowder. The fries could use a bit more seasoning. The wine selection was superb! Our waiter was very good but quite overwhelmed. Perhaps increased staff on the weekends would help.

Graduation dinner for two "kids," two parents, and four grandparents. Sophia Steak did not disappoint. Nearly city prices -- it is, after all, a high end steakhouse -- but with a more friendly suburban level of service. Great combination. From acknowledging the occasion upon our arrival and throughout the evening, couldn't have asked for a better experience. Sommelier was knowledgeable and super helpful on selection of the right white (a Sauvignon Blanc) and red (one french, the second italian) for our meal. The restaurant was busy yet service attentive and responsive. We had a couple of minor issues that come with a busy night (one entree not at the right temperature; one cup of coffee that wasn't warm enough) and our server addressed them promptly and cheerfully as one would hope for and expect. Salads for most of us -- lovely (n.b. the anchovies on the Caesar salad are fresh...know that if you care...). Steaks and seafood were all fabulous, cooked correctly (other than as noted above, which was remedied quickly) and delicious with and without their signature sauce. Wonderful round of sides included broccoli, au gratin potatoes, truffle fries, and mushrooms -- all excellent. We split some chocolate cake desserts, having very little room left after a wonderful meal. PS -- I've been here before just for cocktails, and enjoyed the bar as well.

We've been several times and never enjoyed it. Overhyped, overpriced, and the menu is extremely limited for non red meat eaters. Had one of the truly most disgusting seafood pastas of my life there, made by someone who clearly can't cook. No desire to ever return.

A very quaint and cozy bistro in Wilmette. We came out to celebrate a birthday dinner for my wife and were pleasantly surprised by both the service and quality of the food. We had the steak skewers, as an appetizer, burgers and fried chicken for main course. We finished all our meals and enjoyed a delicious slice of chocolate cake and ice cream sundae (more pictures to follow) for dessert. Overall, a great experience by the pleasant and courteous staff. We will certainly be back soon.

Two friends and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. Free valet parking is available, but I was able to find a free street spot about a block away pretty easily. The service here is outstanding. Our waitress went above and beyond to make sure we had the best visit possible. She gave us a lot of interesting background about how almost every single food item is made in house. I ordered a mango mojito mocktail to drink. Very refreshing and not badly priced at $6. As appetizers, we ordered the thick cut bacon, crab cake, and super green vegetable salad. I loved the addition of the apple and celery to the crab cake. The super green salad was huge and more than enough for the 3 of us. 4 people could probably share this salad too. For my main dish, I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tataki. This dish was delicious. I loved the texture. Not all steakhouses are capable of executing fish dishes well, but Sophia Steak definitely does. I live in the city and I have not always been that impressed with some of the suburban restaurants that people have raved about on here, but I am looking forward to future visits to Sophia Steak. Hopefully with a larger group of people so that I can try more apps.

Great! I was taken here for my birthday, and not only did they have my name printed on the menu, but the food was stellar! I had a lemon drop martini that was fabulous and they definitely accommodated my gluten-free diet. The wait staff was amazing and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this place especially for special occasions.

Romantic and cozy ambience mixed with an amazingly helpful staff makes Sophia Steak an easy recommendation for couples. The food happens to slap as well.

Let's start with the excellent aspects. The service was great. Really good waiter and staff that was super attentive. The bread was great and the drinks were solid. This review is about the food....it was okay. Paying 50+ for a steak comes with a certain level of expectation, but this place just didn't "meat" it. I thought it was over salted and nothing special. I think Sophia is a solid 4 stars if order the less pricey items.

I ordered the following via their online system, which was a very smooth process! +Jumbo Lump Crab Cake - with an apple-celery salad and remoulade +Steak for 2, opting for the 32 oz dry-aged porterhouse - this came with 2 choice salads, 2 choice sides, a choice dessert, along with their bernaise and signature steak sauce; for the choice salads, I chose: the Arugula & Fennel salad (with hazelnuts, strawberries, goat cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette) and the Super Green Vegetable (with kale, avocado, broccoli, asparagus, pepperoncini, olives, pistachio, and Parmesan); for the 2 sides, I chose the potato au gratin and the sauteed mushrooms; for the dessert, I opted for the strawberry sorbet +cognac sauce All the items were cooked perfectly, packed extremely well, and just as the menu described! The strict quality control and the attention to making sure that everything was prepared exactly how it should be was very much appreciated! The staff here was kind, welcoming, and very efficient - for those who are picking up their orders to-go or doing curbside pick-up, there's complimentary valet, and you can let the valet staff know or give a call to the restaurant, and your order comes out quickly! We have always visited this restaurant with our family and also ordered out frequently and have loved it every time until more recently. Tonight we ordered carry out and were extremely disappointed. The servings have shrunk once again and the food was just average. The salad for $17 was about 1 cup when we measured it without the two dressing containers in it and the meatballs were mini. The "wedge" salad was not a wedge at all, but a bit of shredded iceberg with a few tomatoes and pieces of bacon on top, the chicken sandwich was fine, and the shrimp had a lot of discoloration. We are not people that write reviews but we have gone from big fans to NOT A FAN! Very disappointed and will not be going back anytime soon. M&A

Ok so came here with friends for probably the 5th or 6th time and this will more likely be the last time. The place is still popular as ever but it's just not worth the steep downtown prices. I mean $72 for a mediocre NY strip?! I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium and lacked seasoning so I had to ask for salt and pepper. Service this evening started out with a thud. The host stand is a joke. The mature brunette lady at the desk was there again pretty much ignoring guest s lined up as she was paying attention to "her people/friends". Another mature hostess with dirty blonde hair and jean jacket walked up and said without forming a full sentence, "picking up?" I said No! I'm waiting for the hostess to acknowledge me. I think I just got racially profiled! Wtf! So finally was looked at by Host#1 and she said "oh your other party was seated already" and Host#2 (Jean jacket and profiler) walked us all the way back to the section I call the "Bathroom odors and overflow section" I proceeded to ask Host#2 that I requested the front section. She rudely responded and actually argued with me and stated, "We never got that request so You need to go back up front and wait" Huh? Did I just hear this Karen scold me, a paying customer, to walk my arse back up front to wait because I didn't want to sit in their horrible back section?! Oh no she didn't, but she did! So as walked back to the front, I see and hear this Karen actually complaining about us to Host#1 who proceeds to tell me, "did you request not to be seated in the back?" Omg...this is what happens when you hire "mature" people with baggage. Management are you listening?? So I don't get how these host people don't understand the basic premise that part of dining in a fancy restaurant is also about atmosphere and service, not just about the food. If a guest has requested to be seated elsewhere in the restaurant, it isn't up to the host to be nasty about the situation and get uppity. The professional response from Host#2 should be, "oh ok sir, let me find out if we can get you another table, if you could kindly wait in the bar area while we look for another table for you" Now that would've been the proper training provided to BOTH these Karens. The only saving grace to this evening was Jessica our waitress. She was awesome!

The restaurant was soo accommodating in helping us change our reservation from 830 to 7pm since one of our friends is pregnant and needs to eat earlier. They greeted us super nice and sat us immediately and had the menus with happy birthday Jill ready for our out of towns friends birthday celebration. Everything from the impeccable service to the GM Scott stopping by was fantastic. Can't wait to come back love the location and outdoor patio too! My steak was perfectly cooked ate it too fast so no photos. The best part was the potato's au gratin. We had to order another one so delicious!!!

LOVED THE VIBE!!! WILL RETURN FOR THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE!!! Our first dinner out to a restaurant with family (since March 2020) could not have been better. We were celebrating my sister's birthday and had just recently heard about Sophia Steak and learned that one of the partners was Glenn Keefer. Keefer's had been our favorite steakhouse in Chicago and was often my choice for a romantic birthday dinner. My husband and I were sad to learn it had closed after our last visit. First of all, a big thank you to Annette, who was able to find an opening for our group of 7 on a fully booked Saturday night! And the staff could not have been better. As hosts, my husband and I arrived early and enjoyed talking with bartender Juan about some of the menu items and carryovers (crab-cake) from Keefer's. I loved the Spring G+T cocktail, and 4 of us ended up having it. Everyone's food was excellent, seasoned well and beautiful! My salad (see photo) was fantastic! Other dishes of note were the steaks, prime rib and Dover Sole. Two of us enjoyed the Lobster/Shishito starter as our entrée. Even my husband's bacon appetizer looked appealing. Ha! Next time I most likely will be nostalgic and order the ribeye. The one I had in 2013 still stands as the best ever. We will have a difficult time deciding which night to choose first, since there are many enticing draws. Our server Anthony was a professional and the three hours went by seamlessly. Every staff member we encountered was polite, friendly and helpful. Obviously they were each well chosen and well trained. We all left happy!

I drive past this amazing restaurant on my way home and was happy to stop by today and enjoy and drink with my wife. We moved into dinner after seeing the menu and had the Parmesan truffle fries. We then shared a Caesar salad and then had our own steaks. We also enjoyed dessert which left us happily stuffed.

The services were discriminating and repressive. The ownership endorsed the extremely poor service. I would strongly advise against supporting an establishment with such poor moral and distasteful ethics! As such, I wouldn't recommend supporting any of their affiliated establishments.

Really loved the ambiance and the convenience in downtown Wilmette. We had heard good things about Sophia Steak, so was excited to try it for a special occasion. Our meal was good, but not exceptional, and did not measure up to steakhouses in the city. The skirt steak was nothing special, but I do recommend the flat iron Sophia style. The fried lobster and shishito appetizer was also unique. Was hoping for more from our experience.

I'm downgrading my original 5-star review to 2 stars. The food and service quality at Sophia Steak in Wilmette has been going downhill for some time now. Note that I'm downgrading my review not only because of one poor experience but rather a cumulative of several consistent poor experiences on different occasions. After giving Sophia Steak in Wilmette several chances only for them to consistently fail in their execution, it's time to officially downgrade my original 5-star review to 2 stars. I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak for takeout, but it was prepared blue rare. I had to put in the oven for a few minutes to bring it up to medium rare. When I called the restaurant to provide feedback, there was no apology whatsoever from the staff. The fried lobster with shishito peppers used to come with big chunks of lobster meat, but what you get now for over $30 is tiny lobster meat with a lot of batter. I would've recommended this appetizer in the past, but you're better off skipping it now unless you're interested in eating plain fried batter. On another occasion, I ordered the Saturday night Prime Rib special end-cut for takeout, but they got my order wrong. At this point, Sophia Steak in Wilmette has been declining and getting my order wrong a lot, so I checked my order before driving home. And it was a good thing I did that because, as predicted, they got my order wrong again. When I brought it to their attention, all the staff at the front looked upset. They took the bag from me without any apology or saying anything while I was left standing there for my correct order. When I went home, I saw that they sliced the Prime Rib. Who slices a cut of Prime Rib? I wish I had taken a picture of it so that I could upload it onto Yelp. It would put Sophia Steak Wilmette as a steakhouse establishment to shame. I raved about their side of broccoli in my original review. It was so good you could eat it like you were snacking on potato chips. But that's no longer the case. It's not as good as it once was. Their portion is also now smaller as other customers mentioned in their reviews. The price point is no longer worth what you pay for now. As you can see from both Yelp and Google reviews, Sophia Steak in Wilmette's rating has been steadily decreasing. They used to be rated over 4.5 stars, but they're now headed to 4 stars. Unless Sophia Steak in Wilmette gets it together and improves, I expect their rating to continue to fall to under 4 stars. Hopefully they can get their act together - both food and service quality.

Love this place! The ambiance is romantic and cozy! Service is great and food is so delicious! Perfect place for a date night, girls night out or to celebrate a bday! Ahi tuna is a must try!

Just perfect all the way around. Friendly greeting and staff, lovely atmosphere, comfy booths, knowledgeable server and skilled busser. I had the Sophia style filet mignon, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the mashed potatoes were creamy and enough for two. I sampled my friend's fries, crispy with fluffy potato inside. I didn't try his burger it also looked to be a perfect medium rare and he said it was delicious. I believe that, I've always felt if you want a really good burger go to a steakhouse. I was going to order a burger, however we didn't want to both get the same thing. We shared a slice of carrot cake for dessert, planning on getting that again. Looking forward to going back.

We had high expectations for this suburban steakhouse. Many of our friends recommended it and the location in downtown Wilmette is prime. To begin, although our server was very personable, she neglected us for long periods of time, and some of our dishes came out cold. We went on a Sunday evening and I tried the fried chicken special, it was nothing amazing. Others in our group had the steaks and they were OK. There are many options in the area and I do not think we will rush back there soon.

Amazing dinner, great ambience and even a random visit from Santa Claus for our dinner. Great for the whole family

Sophia is an old school steak house. The service is great (sometimes they ask to fill my water a bit too much), but I'll take attentive service over poor service any day. I have ordered the 8oz filet, the salmon with rice pilaf and the short rib special. All of the food is delicious and cooked perfectly (Medium for my steak and salmon) . I will say this place is pretty pricey, but it is worth it for the occasional splurge and the food is always great. So you do get what you pay for.

It is extremely expensive. Not worth the very expensive prices they charge. I had high hopes about this restaurant until we got the bill! Downtown prices at a neighborhood location.

I've heard a lot of rave reviews about this place but I didn't want to get my hopes up. Upon entering, it's a cute cozy spot with a long bar. We made dinner resos on Resy so our table was ready and they were expecting us. We were seated by the bar and someone immediately offered us still or sparkling water. Our server then came over and introduced himself. Oscar took our drink orders. I wasn't in the mood to drink so I asked if they had mocktails and he offered to craft me my own mocktail which was very delicious! I was eyeing dessert so I opted to skip appetizers and went straight for the steaks. They had so many options but Oscar was very patient and explained the different types, wet Vs dry aged and the best cuts. I was in a chimichurri mood so I opted for the skirt steak. My brother was torn but eventually ended up getting the cowgirl ribeye. I've heard a lot of good things about the Brussels sprouts and wow, that did not disappoint! It was so flavorful and tender; I could not stop eating it! My brother gave me a piece of his cowgirl ribeye and wow, that was so juicy! He was definitely blown away. My skirt steak and chimichurri was delicious! The chimichurri tasted like it fused itself to the steak, I ended up eating all of it! The dessert was a great way to finish the meal. The chocolate cake wasn't too sweet and the vanilla ice cream helped offset the richness of the cake. Overall, this was such a wonderful dining experience. We're already planning on coming back with our sister to try the prime rib on Saturdays or maybe do the tomahawk! Now we gotta try it all!

Went here for Valentine's Day Pre-fixed menu. Service was 100% amazing! The lights were low and it had a great romantic vibe. It was a little loud being so crowded and the wine flowing, but we sat close to each other so it was a little easier. The meal was excellent. I wanted more. The pre-dinner rolls however, they needed some love. Dry. Felt like a packaged roll you'd get at the local grocery store. For the amount we pay, upgrade the free bread! But the lobster risotto... heaven!

Fabulous steak! Love the service. Great vibe! Got to try the fries, so good. Excellent neighborhood gem. Can't wait to go back!

Sophia Steak is exactly what a 5 star restaurant should be. OUTSTANDING food, generous portions, attentive and kind service. Friends have told me about Sophia's so I had really high expectations. They exceeded those expectations. Someone is always close by to make sure your half water glass is filled, to take empty plates, bring your kids plastic cups, and make you feel taken care of. I would highly recommend the crispy lobster app, miso salmon w rice, fried chicken (Sundays only). Can't remember which steak my Mom ordered but she devoured it and said it was the best steak she's had in a while. For sides, mashed potatoes are really good. And I don't like mashed potatoes. It's not a heavy buttery mashed potatoes. It's a lighter more flavorful style. The sautéed broccoli is delicious too. I love that all the kids meals include broccoli and feel balanced and healthy. My family and I are going back again soon. Truly a restaurant who has perfected every aspect of its business.

Great neighborhood spot! Great service: Jackie our server was amazing--great touch and bedside manner-a gem. Food very good and friendly staff and causal but sophisticated ambiance. Will definitely be coming back.

Ate at the bar food was delicious the bartender was so nice and accommodating But the only thing I thought it was a little expensive but besides that it was incredible

I'm so glad a proper steakhouse has opened up in the neighborhood. We tried a lot of different items since it was our first time here. Classic Caesar salad: delicious Broccoli: very flavorful Asparagus: good Whipped potatoes: good Salmon: good Steak Sophia: very good Steak Anna: cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the mini pommes was delicious Kid's chicken tenders: loved that it came with broccoli and kids loved the fries. Curbside pickup was very easy. They asked if they can put the food in the trunk or in the front seat. The packaging of each item was neatly displayed. I can't wait to try other items from here.

I always think of Wilmette as a small quiet town. While it is quaint, it offers a bustling dinner scene. A friend and I went for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We had a 7:30pm reservation and were expecting to be seated pretty close to that time. OMG! Pulling up I could tell the place was hopping. They offer complimentary valet which was a wonderful perk. We walked into a congested host desk and a jammed bar area. It did not look like a weeknight on the heels of a pandemic. The host and Manager were so friendly and gracious. We offered to go get a cocktail at the bar while they tried to catch up at the host desk. After ordering our cocktails, which were expertly prepared, one of the bartenders ushered us to two empty seats at the bar that had just opened up. He had us wait a moment until he wiped the area down. I really appreciated the gracious service at the bar. The lovely Manager came over and offered us a table in a very busy area near the bar. She also gave us the option to wait a bit longer for a quiet booth. We chose the second scenario, since we already had a seat and a cocktail at the bar. Once seated, we were able to appreciate the attractive room. Large amber leather booths, nice artwork and stylish lighting really created an attractive ambiance for a lovely dinner. Our server was an engaging gentleman who took great care of us. He offered suggestions for a very nice bottle of wine and incredible food options. I am still thinking about my Super Greens Salad. If I lived closer I would be picking that up to go on a regular basis. Everything was prepared perfectly. What turned into an unexpectedly long, leisurely dinner, was capped off by the incredible service from all areas of the restaurant. The General Manager even stopped by to check on us.
