Google
This market offers a delightful immersion in Greek cuisine and culture. Its signature selection of fresh yogurt, feta and olives is impressive. In addition, there are homestyle prepared foods such as moussaka, pastichio and stuffed peppers. Mini-departments within the shop showcase soaps and shampoos, jewelry and cards, oils and vinegars, baked goods, frozen foods and dried pasta. Well worth a visit! 🇬🇷

Google
Heaven for Greek food lovers. As someone who’s struggled to find a good Greek grocery store in the GBA, I was thrilled to discover Sophia’s Greek Pantry, thanks to their viral yogurts. Being a huge sucker for taramasalata, I couldn’t resist picking up a few varieties, along with some smoked bacon, a dessert, and of course, their famous yogurts. What sets their yogurt apart is the unique “yogurt station”—a dedicated section where they sell it by the pound. I tried the honey black cherry and honey coconut flavors. Both were high quality (similar to the premium yogurts you’d find at Whole Foods). The coconut flavor was subtle, almost understated, while the black cherry was bold and fruity. Among the three types of taramasalata I tried, the Greek Style Caviar Spread from Krinos was my favorite. Though not house-made, it was remarkably similar to the version I loved at Bar Vlaha. Its briny, umami-packed flavor made it an excellent pairing for meat dishes I cooked at home. Another good find was the smoked bacon from Balkan—not at all salty, with a satisfyingly bouncy texture. The pantry also has an extensive selection of house-made spreads, pies, pastries, and Greek delicacies like marinated octopus and seafood salad. Will definitely go back to explore more.

Google
This place is full of unique treats, I highly recommend the tahini cookies! And of course, the yogurt, which people come from all over to get.

Google
Everything we’ve ever tried is absolutely delicious! We go back time and time again for the yogurt. The white anchovies and vinegar are also delicious, my kids love them! A real gem in Belmont. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I read the reviews below which are negative. I was really surprised because these are such committed people who seem to have enormous pride in what they are selling and the enjoyment experience of their customers. We have been buying yogurt there for 10 years and have never sampled a “bad batch”.

Google
Like Greek food that tastes deliciously homemade? GO HERE. They have the best yogurt I've ever had and in as many flavors as an ice cream shop! They also have an amazing olive bar and several different varieties of feta.

Brian H.

Google
Sophia is the best! She always makes it feel like you're family and her flavored Greek Yogurts are unmatched. You also find it hard to leave without a little Baklava each time. Best in the Boston area.

Google
Love SGP. Great selection of Greek items especially olives, feta, olive oil, pastries, etc. They probably have the best yogurt I’ve ever had. Honey or Coconut are my favorites. The desserts are also good.

Yelp
This a cute small little Greek bakery and grocery store that is most well known for their homemade yogurt! They have grab and go food (seafood salad, veggies, Greek dishes such as mousaka and pastichio), Greek food section, bread, olive oil, spices, cheese, meats, and candies all from Greece. The bakery sells bachlava (they have 4 different types), tiramisu, and various other cakes. There is a fresh olive station that you grab olives and put into containers. The yogurt is sold in the back. Each person can try 3 different flavors so we tried a lot of samples to find the ones we liked the most. They sell it in 4 different sizes with the price being about $5 a pound. The flavors we loved were the honey lemon, honey blueberry, and honey black cherry. They also have yogurt drinks and limited flavors such as honey pomegranate and honey pineapple. The service was good, the guy who sold us the yogurt made good recommendations and was pretty nice and made small talk. The cashier was nice as well. Overall, this place is worth a stop if you love yogurt or Greek products!

Yelp
Leaning towards a 4.5/5! I'd been wanting to visit Sophia's Greek Pantry ever since I learned about it; I'm from California and have been living in Allston for the past couple of years. Something I've missed sorely about California are all the ethnic supermarkets, which exist in abundance. Experiencing Sophia's was everything I imagined & more! Food: if there's one thing Sophia's is known for, it's the Greek yogurt bar. Serving numerous flavors in both nonfat and 2%, the man working behind the bar was incredibly friendly and invited me to try the flavors! I was *so* impressed by his genuine customer service, as well as the yogurt. I don't know what they're doing differently here, but this is not your average Greek yogurt. I bought the Honey Coffee flavor, and it was quite *divine.* So incredibly creamy and smooth!! From the fridge section, I purchased some meat dolmas (stuffed with beef/lamb), which were delicious. I also tried the chicken pie, which was stuffed with bellpeppers and seasoned shredded chicken -- this was just alright. I originally was eager to try their leek pie, but that was sold out! I'll be back next time to try their leek pie. Overall, the items in this store are a bit expensive -- but I'm guessing it's because so many items are imported. I think this would be a great place to buy organic/Greek olive oil as a gift, for sure. Service: I mentioned this above, but the customer service was superb here. The woman at the cash register was also friendly and kind. Ambiance: The store is truly lovely. Everything is stocked so neatly.

Yelp
Finally made it here the other day. Insane selection of imported and freshly made greek foods and goods. Also was able to try the greek yogurt which was insanely delicious and so silky smooth. Haven't had anything like it. Tried some of the premade meals and they make for a great dinner. Highly recommend a trip!

Yelp
I love hidden gems and Belmont seems to have a bunch of them. I've been meaning to visit Sophia's Greek Pantry for a good bit and finally got the chance to drop in. Known for their yogurt and baked goods, this spot has been on my go to list for a while. The pantry is stocked with a myriad of Greek goods. Although I didn't get a chance to indulge in their well known yogurt this time, I did try some other things. Their marinated squid and Chocolate Baklava were absolutely delicious. The squid was so juicy and flavorful and it pairs really well with a salad. The Baklava was one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this lovely pantry!

Yelp
I'd heard the legends of the Greek yogurt. I journeyed for the Greek yogurt. I devoured the Greek yogurt. Verdict? Worth every myth and whisper. Zeus himself probably eats this stuff for breakfast. The honey flavor? Ambrosia. I'm 90% sure I saw Mount Olympus after the first bite.
google avatar

Hubert H.

Yelp
Still a really great store. Can get imported olives, olive oil, baked goods, rusk (a hearty crusty bread), and pre-made foods like hummus and babaganoush. And of course their yogurt is famous and the best!
google avatar

Elaine T.

Yelp
Wow I cannot sing the praises of Sophia's greek yogurt enough. I visited from out of town and now that I'm back home, I'm mourning the loss of their yogurt already. If you're fortunate enough to live within 30 miles of a Sophia's, stop reading and just go. The texture and creaminess of their yogurt is so decadent and unlike any other yogurt I've had. They also offer a wide array of flavors that don't overpower the yogurt itself, and I appreciate that they offer samples to help you choose. They also offer other hard-to-find Greek foods and treats, as well as fresh feta, olives, and in-house baked pastries. It was hard to constrain myself from trying one of everything (especially the feta), and next time I'm in the area I will make sure to have enough luggage space to accommodate.

Yelp
This is the most amazing grocery store. We went in to grab lunch food and bought so many delicious items! My favorite was the spanakopita. We also got a bunch of olives (best I've ever had), feta, and yogurt. The honey vanilla yogurt was way too sweet for me. There prepared foods were also yummy- we got a couscous salad, hummus, and stuffed grape leaves. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Ayatt A.

Yelp
The best Greek yogurt you will EVER try!!! I love that you can order it in different fat percentages. I believe they offer 0%, 2% and full fat. Whats even better is the variety of 0% flavors they offer! Its hard to believe they are 0% because they are so incredibly delicious and decadent. You must try this yogurt and the rest of their Greek specialties.

Yelp
Love the Greek yogurt here. Super creamy and just right for sweetness with honey. Does not make my stomach upset. Love the chocolate baklava and super cozy inside. Never had baklava but it was heavenly sweet and delish. Custard pie was ok had a lemony flavor
google avatar

Roop K.

Yelp
Lots of variety and selection of Greek foods and other Mediterranean cuisine. Saw chocolate tahini here which I've never had

Yelp
Today was our first visit to Sophia's and we are Italian. We were amazed at the wonderful items they carry, the cleanliness, and the foods that they have ! So many fantastic olive oils, olives, biscuits and cookies and pastry. Greek delicacies are abundant. We did not have enough time to explore everything so we left with a big bag full of items. Many items are things all Italians would love. We will be returning in coming days to explore the small but well stocked store again and again. This is indeed a hidden gem for many that appreciate both Greek foods and specialty items. Highly recommend to such people. No doubt it will be a favorite place to shop for us and bear in mind we are fussy. One thing, staff is very nice and helpful, but as I update this review and visited 3 more time, noted that the older lady (maybe owner) is not the most friendly. Looking ahead, we try to avoid her .

Yelp
Everything was amazing!!! The spinach pie with homemade tzatziki *the best* then the pastries loaded with honey and the horseshoe cookies are now my new favorite cookie when I have my coffee!!there were so many other things that I wanted to try! Highly recommend !

Yelp
Beware the yogurt. Sad to say that I've had 2 recent incidents of yogurt spoiling early. The first time I called and was told that the citrus flavors sometimes go bad quicker than the others so I stopped buying those. Last week I bought two flavors-blueberry and honey vanilla. I used a cooler bag and brought them home to Belmont immeadiately. The blueberry went bad after just one week. The container filled with air, with the cover almost popping off in the refrigerator. The texture had changed a bit to something yeasty like bread rising and the taste was completely acidic. I won't stop buying yet, but next time I will definitely ask what is freshest and go from there. I did call to report both times - not looking for a refund but hoping they do some QC to address this.

Yelp
I came here because heard the Greek yogurt from here was amazing and I completely agree! Wow wow wow, it's delicious! I got the Honey Key Lime and Honey Chocolate Orange (seasonal). The texture and flavor is incredible! They sell the yogurt in different sizes, so I recommend getting a couple smalls so you can try multiple flavors! Everyone in the shop was super friendly and there was a wide range of products and baked goods.

Yelp
I went on a trip to Cyprus last year and stayed on the Greek side of the island where I fell in love with the food. When I got back to Boston I HAD TO find somewhere that sells Greek products. This market has been on my to-go list for this past year and I finally made it here this past weekend. It's small store yet has so many variety of items you'll probably spend most of your time debating with yourself which to get over the other. Wide selection of honey, olive oils, cheeses, olives, breads etc. We bought the 2% greek yogurt which we were told is a customer favorite. And my God I've never tasted a yogurt like this before. I didn't even bother to sample the others. It was $4.59/lb and we got the 32oz container. And we also got a small pack of their granola which is so good I regret not getting the larger bag. We bought some fresh Feta which'll last up to 6months in the fridge and halloumi from the fridge section. Also got garlic hummus I had last night with some pita bread we bought from the store and it was good. We also tried some of their pastries which were delectable. I asked the lady by the cash register if the Indiana is the same thing as kok which I made sure to pronounce correctly and she took her by surprise and asked if I was Greek too and I said sadly no. Haha Everyone in the store was friendly and helpful. I will be back!

Yelp
My roommate and I heard great things about this on social media so we decided to take a trip. Upon entrance, we were greeted by a myriad of delicious greek treats and friendly employees. We went to the yogurt counter and ended up with a large plain greek yogurt, a medium honey pomegranate (special), and medium honey key lime. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best greek yogurt I have EVER had. Its consistency is sumptuous. My roommate got the marinated octopus as a special treat and was not disappointed. We also tried the spinach pies, stuffed grape leaves, pita chips, classic hummus, chocolate baklava and walnut baklava. Every bite we took, we were convinced it could not get better and it did. We will definitely be back to try more of the goodies. And thank you to the man behind the counter for the recommendations.

Yelp
Wandered in with my wife on a whim. The 1st time today, we took in all the offerings. Bought some spices, Baklava Cjheesecake, olive oil soap and coffee yougurt. After trying the coffee yogurt (which is inhouse made with goat and sheep's milk), I ended up circling back a fter linch to get other flavors. Am now debating if I ma going ot go back in the morning to try others as it is literally amazing. Please note, the second trip I had to get into the yogurt line that was about 1/2 the store (17 deep), when i got my yougurt another 12 deep behind me. The price of the yougurt, resonable at $5.99/Lb. Can't wait to try the Baklava cheesecake.

Yelp
The best yogurt in Massachusetts hands down. You have to try the honey coconut flavor! Staff is super friendly, the pastries are delectable, and their offerings are super diverse. Always a lovely time visiting Sophia's!

Yelp
THE BEST Greek yogurt. I will never buy supermarket Greek yogurt again. This store is chock full of wonderful Greek delights that would satisfy any home cook and appreciator of Greek cuisine. I will be returning a lot to shop there. Great staff. Wonderful atmosphere. And did I mention the yogurt??
google avatar

Joy G.

Yelp
Best. Yogurt. Ever. If all the other reviews don't convince you to come try it out, let it be mine that screams from the rooftops, This is better than anything I've ever tried. The mouthfeel is just indescribable. And I love the multiple flavors and that they offer you samples. I got a small of the honey yogurt, am now halfway through it and bitterly regretting that I both didn't just get a tub of it and I didn't get some of the other flavors (the honey blueberry was really calling my name too). The real deal (though still shipped in from off-site). A small size was around $2.50. They also have an olive bar. Anytime there is an olive bar, I am physically unable to just walk right past. Snagged some pitted green ones, which were mouth-puckeringly sour and salty and so delicious. I need to come back here and just take my time wandering around, particularly the selection of pastries. I believe they prefer cash (when I went, the card machine had a little post-it taped over it). Street parking right out front.
google avatar

Jerry H.

Yelp
Tasty yogurt that's very airy and just the right amount of sweet sold at great prices. Had the blueberry and mango flavors; the blueberry was my favorite of the two. Service is very friendly here as well. Tried the baklava which was a tad too sweet for my liking (but of course, it's baklava, so I won't hold it against them). Overall, such a great neighborhood gem, will definitely revisit when I have the chance.
google avatar

Colleen J.

Yelp
Unbelievable yogurt and stuffed grape leaves. We drive out of our way to make a stop at Sophia's. Service is fast and the ambiance is quaint. Highly recommend the raspberry and coconut yogurts.

Ellen N.

Yelp
Best yogurt in the world!!!! Many flavors. Not to ignore the Greek specialties which are amazing
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
What a wonderful store! My aunt took us here the other day and we had a wonderful time - the yogurts are so delicious that we brought home three different flavors. My husband and I got red pepper hummus and meat stuffed grape leaves to split and they were some of the best that I've had. The pastries all looked delicious and I can't wait to try them in the future. We can't wait to come back and try it all - everything looked so good and the women running the counter were very kind!
google avatar

Yelp
I love Sophia's Pantry. The yogurt especially is the best I have ever tasted. My fam

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Blown away by the quality of the Greek yogurt and granola! I wish they had a location downtown

Kara J.

Yelp
This small grocery store in Belmont is incredible. They make the best yogurt in the ENTIRE WORLD. They also have so many Greek grocery items that you cannot get anywhere else. 100/10 recommend!!

Yelp
In the one week that I've lived in Cambridge, I've already visited this gem twice (and intend on becoming a regular customer!). Sophia's has an amazing selection of Greek specialties, but the homemade Greek yogurt alone makes a visit to this market worth it. In addition to plain yogurt, Sophia's offers honey and fruit flavored options that are absolutely divine. There are also a number of cheeses, olives, and baked goods that I'm looking forward to trying. In summary: This Greek yogurt will change your life. Do yourself a favor and try some for yourself.

Yelp
My friends had been telling me for years that I had to try this place. So I finally stopped in one day. Sophia's is a Greek specialty store unlike any I have seen before, this is the first one I have ever been to. I had no plan on what to buy so I walked around to see what they had. The place is stocked with goodies, oils, house made yogurt, premade foods, hummus and I could go on and on. I decided on a small thing of plain non fat yogurt, red pepper hummus, pita chips and some pita bread. The pita chips were delicious especially when paired with the red pepper hummus. The hummus is some of the best I have ever had. The pita bread, not house made, was great, made Greek wrap with it minutes after I got home. The yogurt was ok. Everyone raves about the yogurt but I guess I'm not a yogurt guy. The staff was nice and the place was clean. I will definitely stop in again to try some of the different olive oils and grab some more pita chips and hummus.

D M.

Yelp
The best Greek yogurt in Massachusetts. Nothing comes close. Nothing. How it is "fat free" astounds me.

Anne S.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to visit! The staff, location, product line and overall shop are top notch! When in the area highly recommend to stop by! Delicious Greek yogurt

Yelp

Yelp
Decided to visit Sophia's after browsing Yelp for olive bars, and wow what a treat it has been! As has been mentioned before, their yogurt is phenomenal. I tried the honey & blueberry recently and it was out of this world. Super thick and creamy, while the flavor was excellent and spot on. I got 1/2lb which was a little over $2. The yogurt is about $4/lb which is reasonable. It also lasts for three weeks so I saw plenty of people stocking up. I also tried the apricot baklava. They have tons of flavors, but this one caught my eye. You get a huge piece for only $2. Arguably some of the best baklava I've ever had. Next time I'll try the chocolate one. If you're looking for specialty greek products they have tons of imported options and prepared foods. Reasonably priced and fast service - I'll definitely be back!

Lindsey C.

Yelp
I've literally never written a Yelp review and after having this yogurt I do not have a choice. This yogurt is unreal! If you think you've had Greek yogurt before - think again. I got the 2% and the honey coconut (which is a littttttle sweet) so I mixed them together and added Sophia's homemade granola and this is absolutely my new obsession. The rich creaminess and freshness of this is unlike anything I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and give it a try!

Theodore K.

Yelp
Clean store . Mix of products we'll stock And lots of speciality stuff needed Owners nice and friendly
google avatar

A. L.

Yelp
Terrible kataifi, decent baklava, atrocious service. There are other options for Greek worth your money, though sadly they are still limited. Turkish bakeries May also be better..

Steven R.

Yelp
Nice shop with lots of delicious interesting foods. Great people. Yogurt is beyond compare
google avatar

Leith S.

Yelp
This store has a fabulous selection of Greek foodstuffs and fruit flavored yogurt to die for. Everything from baklava to fresh meatpies. Hard to choose when confronted by such splendors!

Yelp
I used to like going to this place but I now have serious concerns about the shop and the owner. Earlier today I (tried to) shop there just to get to the register and be told 'there is a small fee'. (It was 7.81 for a $184.71 purchase). I asked what is that about and if there was a way to avoid it. The cashier run in the back of the store to call the owner, Sophia (herself) which came shouting right off the gate. She was very upset (for reasons that were beyond my understanding) and started shouting at me as she was approaching that they needed the extra fee because they can't afford to pay the CC fees. By then I had my cash out ready to pay cash but unfortunately she just decided to be aggressive towards me (got in my face shouting with no mask- I had one luckily). I only said that I liked shopping there and I didn't mind (as much) paying at times almost double than what other ethic stores (or even Market basket) charge for the same exact product because I wanted to support them as the local ethic store. But that I did expected them to be honest about the extra charge (not a 'small fee' as stated by the cashier) and they should at least post a note out so customers are aware of the fee before they buy. I was respectful and just calmly made my point (holding cash in my hand at that point - already handed it to the cashier actually) but Sophia - without an warning or logical reason actually- got even more aggressive at that point, said 'fuck you' (I am not even kidding) and said- 'get out of my store'. I asked... 'excuse me- why are you kicking me out? I nicely said you needed a note to let customers know about your extra fees, I'm buying 180 bucks worth of stuff which I am ready to pay for in cash... what reason do you have to throw me out? She then said she didn't want me to buy the stuff, orders the cashier to put stuff back (how sanitary is that for stuff like bulk olives?), threaten to call the police on me. As I knew I had done nothing wrong and had been respectful, I said... well... thank you for calling the police- I'd love them to come in to protect my rights here since you have been aggressive towards me, a paying and respectful customer. Long story short- police came in, Sophia got aggressive even in front of them not allowing me to talk to them shouting 'say the truth, don't lie (I wasn't)'. Because I know I was telling the truth and not being in the wrong at least a bit, I asked the policemen to review the video surveillance tape and make a decision on his own. Cops listened, said a couple of mindful words but then did nothing. In discussing this situation with some of my friends that used to shop there, they said they stopped going there because of the store overcharging for stuff and the attitude / behavior of the owner. It seems a consistent (bad) behavior from the owner and deceptive business practices. Very unfortunate it itself and also because it just puts a really bad rep on a community of folks that I think are awesome otherwise!

Paolo-Antón Z.

Yelp
Sophia's is the BEST! And the telephone assistance I received at the Lowell location was exemplary! I called the Lowell store from my home in Vermont looking for the spices to make Greek Easter Bread. I was treated with graciousness and courtesy, plus there was a real interest in my predicament. Before I knew it, the spices I needed were in my mailbox. I look forward to visiting Sophia's! Wonderful!

Yelp
One of the best small business to find Greek products. They also sell their own Greek Yoghurt. Sometimes, I drive 1 hour to buy yoghurt from there. It definitely worths it.

Yelp
Best place for Greek yogurt, feta cheese, Greek everything . The only place I buy my feta and yogurt from in boston

Maddy R.

Yelp
This place is perfect. Yogurt, olives, feta etc fantastic place. Staff are very friendly. The sweets are so delicious!! .

Yelp
4s for the Greek olives and the yogurt alone. The rest (products, sandwiches), nothing above 3. They do have though a wide variety that satisfies everyone's Greek hunger.
