I went with a vegan friend who loves their pastries. It is a very colorful and welcoming small business. I ordered the cranberry scone with pecans and couldn't have been happier. Perfection! They were having a buy one get one sale on lemon and raspberry cake squares so we also took advantage of that. The service was very friendly and I would recommend it if you're in the area.

Google
So happy to have found a vegan pastry shop here in Montreal. I had the almond croissant, cupcake, and scone, and they all tasted good. The owner seemed really nice as well.

Google
This was the best bakery we went to in Montreal. Definitely the best and freshest tasting croissants, with the almond one being our favorite! The croissants had a nice presentation, flaky, crispy exterior and layers and layers of delicious flaky soft dough on the inside. The almond one has a delicious almond paste filling inside. We gobbled up the savory treats and bought frozen ones to take on the plane with us. It’s so impressive how they make their own butter, phyllo dough etc… 10 stars if I could.

Google
Love this vegan bakery! Had to stock up on some delicious treats for the weekend. Also picked up a lavender iced coffee with those decadent chocolate cupcakes. They didn't make the picture as I couldn't help myself sooooo good. I highly recommend this place.

Google
Thank you so much for having a vegan pastry shop! Everything was delicious, but I particularly loved the pistachio croissant! The savory spinach pastry was also delicious. It would be dangerous if I lived near here because I would come every single morning for a decadent croissant.

Renata Chiaradia

Google
All the desserts we ordered were incredible! We loved the cheesecake, the chocolate cake and the surprise bag! The almond croissants are delicious!!! All delicious and fresh!

Sophie Sucrée has been my go to place for vegan pastries for over 3 years now! They never disappoint and I'm always left wanting more. They are always serving vegan baked goods of the highest caliber and making sure their customers have a good experience with them. They also have a salty menu that is equally as good as their sugary treats. Highly recommend for anyone looking for yummy vegan alternatives to all kinds of foods!

Google
My favourite patisserie/bakery!! I make a point to stop by every time I'm in town. The spinach and feta puff pastries and cinnamon buns are my favs, but everything I've tried I've enjoyed. The prices are very reasonable and service is friendly :) cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
The staff were all so friendly in here. Over the span of the week I was visiting Montreal I visited twice all for their croissants (~4CAD). They're so buttery and flakey. The best croissants I've had in my entire time of living honestly (I've been vegan for over half my life so I don't think I've had non vegan croissants, but these are pretty close to what I believe they'd taste like). My mom, who is flexitarian, said they were amazing and she's definitely had non vegan croissants. I also tried their lavender lemonade (~5CAD) and it was so good. Perfectly tart and not too sweet with the subtle hint of lavender. They have a nut free section on their website, but my partner who has a tree nut allergy didn't feel comfortable trying any of the nut free options as the almond croissants were underneath the plain croissants in the display case. So if you have a severe tree nut allergy ask the staff or take it by a case by case basis. I would definitely return just for their croissants.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Sophie Sucree in Montreal and was blown away by the quality of their baked goods. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the decor was adorable, with a charming and warm atmosphere. The real highlight, however, was the treats themselves. It really is a party thyme for your mouth! The selection was impressive, with a wide range of sweet and savory options that were all delicious. I was amazed to find out that everything was vegan, as they were buttery and flavorful in a way that I hadn't experienced in a vegan bakery before. It's a testament to the skill and talent of the bakers. It was truly a treat for the senses. I left feeling indulgent! Sophie Sucree is the place to be for anyone looking for a vegan bakery in Montreal or just a place to indulge in some delicious baked goods. The quality, selection, and ambiance were all outstanding, and the fact that everything was vegan made it all the more impressive. Life is ferntastic with Sophie Suree!

Yelp
Back again after a year and got the same almond croissant which was just as delicious. Don't know how they make it to taste so buttery and moist while being vegan. Also got one of their scones which was om the drier side but still delicious. One of the best almond croissants I've ever had.

Yelp
The citron cake was life-changing. It was a warm complex sweetness that filled my soul on a cold rainy day. Treats like this are what makes life worth living

Yelp
An all-vegan bakery? Yes please. I stopped in a Monday morning for an almond croissant ($4.50 plus tax) to eat back at the hotel. It was pretty large and filling -- I'd recommend splitting this with someone else if possible. The pastry was the perfect mix of flaky, crunchy and buttery, with a generous amount of toasted almonds, lots of icing sugar, and a delectable almond filling. Doesn't get much better than this. So good. I will have to return to try their other baked goodies.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
These baked goods were some of the best vegan treats I encountered in Montreal (but also check out La Beignerie for killer vegan donuts!). I bought: banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, a brownie, spinach feta turnover, and a plain croissant. I cannot express how much I loved every single treat, but the standout was the croissant. That was my fave. It was light and buttery and flaky AF. The banana bread had huge chocolate chips and was moist and delicious. The spinach wrap was delicious but oddly sweet -- but it still came in second to the croissant. Service was above and beyond and I only have a pic of the brownie and banana bread cuz my partner and I inhaled everything else!! Go here! My only regret was that I didn't get cupcakes vs the brownie (which was like a rectangular cupcake TBH).

Yelp
I live in Toronto, my daughter goes to McGill. Her birthday needed a cake ... wow, was I lucky to find Sophie Sucree! Service was friendly and straightforward; easy to order a cake (triple chocolate) with a happy birthday wish ... and as if ordering for me I added 6 chocolate chip cookies all for delivery which went perfectly. And, the cake and cookies were delicious says my daughter and her friends. So grateful for the help to celebrating my daughter's birthday with a 1st class cake!! Thank you!

Mary D.

Yelp
Amazing! I just had the best chocolate croissant fresh from the oven.
google avatar

Yelp
get the pistachio croissant while you can!! it's the best I've ever had .. 10/10 recommend Sophie's for my vegan and non-vegan friends alike. The coffee is tasty as well.

Yelp
Im a lil appalled at myself that I've never written a review about Sophie Sucree :O as Ive been visiting this bakery for years The staff is is always so wonderful! They recently moved a couple of blocks over on St-laurent from their original location on Des Pins and I cannot wait to see once they settle in. Everything here is vegan and some are also gluten free. Whatever your heart desires: croissants, scones, pizza, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, they've got you covered! Soon they will have hot drinks once the rest of their stuff is installed. For now you can get coffee and also drinks from the fridge to go along w the yummy treats
google avatar

Yelp
I am obsessed with the spinach turnover. I love their pizza, croissant, cupcakes, banana breads, everything, but the turnover is my favourite. Really nice staff, always lots of selection, I like that they have day-olds as well because I always grab a couple extra just to snack on. It's easy to walk out with 4+ different baked goods even if you only planned on getting one thing.
google avatar

Tomer N.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I am not a Vegan but my life-partner is. So when she had a birthday and I needed a Vegan cake I knew this is the spot for me. Their products might be a little more pricey the diary containing products but you need to remember they use more expensive ingredients and they are not making huge quantities so you will get fresh and quality products. The cake they made was amazing, all the kids loved it, all the adults ate it noting was left and no one even noticed its diary free...yes that good.

E P.

Yelp
I bought a red velvet cake from here and it was not good. The icing was overly sweet and the cake itself was dry and somewhat hard. Would definitely recommend other places for cakes or I'd rather just get fancy vegan donuts from Doughnats then pay for a pricey cake from here.

Yelp
Of course her name is Melody. The girl behind the counter, with her songlike sounds spoken softly in that enchanting accent, welcomes rain-soaked sweet-seekers to the small bakery and house of treats in Montreal. They come expecting cupcakes, cookies, and brownies, but the real sweetness emanates from the smile she offers to each visitor. Should you find yourself nearby, of course the dulce de leche cupcake, miniature pecan pies, or the storied banana bread will certainly fill your stomach and your mind with happiness, but come in, sit down, and enjoy the melodies and it will fill your soul. A sweet (vegan) dessert shop you visit once, but keep with you for a long time afterwards.

Yelp
Visiting Montréal from upstate NY and was so glad I found Sophie Sucrée. All-vegan bakery? A dream come true!! I've never had so many options for pastries and was truly so excited to be there staring at all the croissants, cakes, scones, etc. Omg the almond croissant was unbelievable!!! I haven't had a croissant since going vegan so I got one of each! I wish I lived closer so I can go more often but I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ever since I switched to a plant-based diet, I have been searching for decent pastries that equal the original. I hadn't been successful until coming across Sophie Sucrée. Their croissant and pain au chocolat are flakey, buttery, and so delicate. I don't even miss the original. Their decor is adorable and perfect for an Instagram (check out my profile picture). I was there in the mid-afternoon on a weekday so it was not very busy, but I imagine that on a weekend that may not be the case. Their coffee was likewise delicious!

Yelp
Sophie Sucrée is a small vegan pastry shop in view of Mont Royal. We read the menu beforehand and were looking forward to the spinach "feta" puffs, turnovers, and more. We were not disappointed at all. We shared a number of items, including a pecan torte, a chocolate torte, and an almond bun. Each was delightful. The staff person then brought us over a dish of mango ice cream that the chef wanted us to try. Wow! So delicious and creamy. She came back again with some pieces of banana bread that were too small to sell. Holy smokes was this our lucky day. We couldn't finish it all. We boxed up the banana breads, and bought three more spinach puffs to go. Can't recommend Sophie Sucrée highly enough.
google avatar

Bruno V.

Yelp
Tried their chocolate triple layer vegan cake, it was wonderful, moist and not overly sweet. Just Perfect
google avatar

Christian C.

Yelp
I haven't been to the shop but I tried Sophie's delicious baked goods many times, from so many places. I especially love the creme brûlée that's available around Valentine's, and the croissants and apple turnovers. The spinach pastry that's made with almonds is one of my savoury favorites from Sophie Sucrée. I will make sure to try everything! It's impossible not to love these vegan treats.
google avatar

Nick T.

Yelp
Delicious, all-vegan pastry shop. The almond croissant is unbelievable, the salted caramel cheesecake and spinach pastry very good, banana bread was pretty good. They'll heat it up the savory foods for you, and they had a shelf of cheaper day-old items. The free sample I had of the brownie was a bit lacking, and the chocolate chip cookie was just fine. Tried the onion and pepper pizza from the day old shelf, which was pretty good. Overall very impressed and will be taking others back.
google avatar

Dori L.

Yelp
They were closing but stayed open so I could by some pastries for a birthday. I picked up the maple apple cake because it's vegan and gluten free. I wasn't expecting it to be anything special but honestly, really good. I also bought 6 chocolate chip cookies that were gluten free and vegan. The chocolate chips were great and the texture is pretty fluffy. More fluffy than dense but still good!

James R.

Yelp
The items taste great except for the salted caramel cupcake icing which has an overwhelming taste of margarine. I would give it more stars, but the staff is very unfriendly and almost rude. Sadly, it's the typical blasé attitude we've all come to expect from customer service in Montreal. Sophie Sucrée seems to take itself way too seriously for its own good. It's like come on, you're selling vegan scones and brownies, you're not defusing landlines here. Would it kill you to politely greet your customers who chose to go out of their way to support your business and spend $30 for 6 small baked goods?
google avatar

Deniz G.

Yelp
Didn't even realize this patisserie was all vegan until we were halfway through our delectable treats! We had the flatbreads, "feta" pastry, banana bread, and tea. The shop is pink and adorable, with vintage furniture and pastry displays. The girls working at the counter were nice though not the most sympathetic, but the food was tasty nonetheless. I mainly appreciated the concept of an all-vegan bakery, also included gluten-free items and wish there were more like it. Might come back next time I go to Montreal!

Yelp
A cute cafe, colorful and brightly lit, with friendly staff. Lots of sweet treats. A lovely place!
google avatar

Zoe L.

Yelp
A CUTE vegan bakery. I like the concept and all of their treats seemed delicious. Would have liked more VARIETY... there are some things way better than others. Things worth getting: cheesecake, apple turnover, blondie. The cupcakes are not worth getting, DRY and WEIRD flavor. Same with normal brownies. Worth going to once or twice... not enough options worth getting to make it a regular stop. DECENT but not good... NEXT!
google avatar

Jamie W.

Yelp
A tiny establishment on the plateau with a bit of a whimsical feel. I had the red velvet cupcake which I thought was decent. I wasn't a big fan of the frosting, which somehow managed to be both too sweet and too sour at the same time without the richness of the cream cheese coming through. Not sure if this is a new place but it feels like the menu can definitely use more fine tuning, especially in terms of the piece. A tiny cup of filter coffee was $2.50, same price as most cupcakes. The place sits about 8 people, so definitely more of a walk-by-and-grab-a-cupcake-to-go kinda place.

Yelp
After an intense day of shopping, I decided to stop at this little coffee shop which offers a variety of vegan baked goods for some coffee and much needed sugar. I debated at the counter since I've heard so much about their cupcakes but ended up taking the chocolate tartelette, and a latte. I sat by the window on one of the mismatched tables and got to work! The girl warned me that the ganache is very rich, which I have no issue with, and indeed the filling was incredibly flavourful and had this great texture; unfortunately the crust felt short and broke down into ashes when my fork went through. The coffee was good, perfectly tempered almond milk too. I liked the cosy feel of the space and the service was great and very welcoming. I haven't written this spot off completely as I intend to try they famous cupcakes someday but not a fan of their little tarts

Sylvie Q.

Yelp
Pastries & sweets are okay. The website is messed up once you pay. It was a hassle to get my order. I had to contact them. Maybe they fixed that technical issue.
google avatar

Norine A.

Yelp
My sister and her boyfriend brought Vegan cupcakes home for my mom's birthday. Honestly, I could not tell the difference between any of the ingredients! The cupcakes were moist, Perfect vegan "butter cream" icing! We tried the chocolate, dulces leches with almonds, black Forest, Oreo and vanilla. I will definitely consider this place for a future pit stop bakery to cover my sweet tooth cravings! Highly recommended for non- vegans as well, the "healthier" cupcake option!

M O.

Yelp
Six stars! I had the spinach pastry, which was awesome, but the almond croissant is to die for! Formidable!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Delicious and adorable! You don't have to be vegan to indulge in what Sophie Sucree has to offer. Excellent service, tea, and treats! The spiced cupcake was the best I've ever had. Just thinking about it almost makes me want to drive all the way back up there to get some more. Also tried a chocolate tarty thing with caramel and sea salt... Whoa. Their cookies are great too! Worth stopping in and giving it a try.
google avatar

Xue L.

Yelp
Very small place with delicious pastries. Only a few seats available inside so don't expect to have a table there to chill with friends.
google avatar

Monyka T.

Yelp
Sooooo, I've actually never been to Sophie Sucré because it's way to far from where I live but, I do get their goodies through Lufa. And omg everything they make is delicious. I have to control myself not to buy all the options haha. 100% of what I've ordered is fresh, flavourful, squishy, and oh oh so tasty. Their goodies seem to keep very well for at least 3 days to boot. Enjoy.
google avatar

Mladen K.

Yelp
Great vegan bakery/cafe with gluten free options. Best know for their cupcakes, they also make some amazing cookies, brownies, tarts, banana bread, muffins and scones. You must try the spinach turnovers when you're there. They also customize cakes plus make truffles.
google avatar

Kristie N.

Yelp
If you love cupcakes, you should definitely come here!! I didn't even realize they were vegan until I actually saw a sign that said all products made in Sophie Sucrée were vegan. Their frosting is very light and just hits the spot. They have many flavours ranging from earl grey to oreo! The cupcakes are sold at a decent price at about $2.50 per cupcake. You can also buy packs of 6 for $12 or $6 when they go on sale. This is a very cute cafe and great place to study if you are studying alone or with one other person!
google avatar

Nipa C.

Yelp
Just walking into this place had me smiling. I was so shocked at how perfect each pastry looked. They looked as if they'd been posed for a magazine, so beautiful! I went for the cinnamon bun and a cup of coffee. I ordered confidently in French but I'm sure I must've sounded awful! Sophie was so friendly and non-judgemental about my French. The pastry and the coffee were wonderful. My friend and I stayed for a while, taking advantage of the sweet and welcome atmosphere. Highly, highly recommend!
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
I really appreciate that Montréal has a vegan bakery as charming and tasty as this one. I've tasted what I like to think as a healthy variety of their cookies, cupcakes and squares and I've generally been rather pleased. And trust me, I've eaten A LOT of vegan baked goods. The last couple of times I've visited the majority of patrons coming in and out are folks clearly just "picking up the vegan dessert" for a soirée. While I think that's marvellous that this is something Sophie Sucrée offers I would love to encourage folks to try and grab one of the cute vintage tables in there and enjoying the space a bit- it's typically very sunny, the tea is lovely and served in vintage tea cups. Basically it's adorable. The only star-loser that I feel is worth mentioning is that the red velvet recipe could totally be improved upon. Like another reviewer mentioned, it's heavy on the oil-taste. Maybe try coconut oil next time? Just a thought.

Cynthia B.

Yelp
Can't wait to go back to montreal to go here again . Put in an order and loved everything. My favorite were the chocolatines and croissants. Cute little cozy place, next time I'll be back with my boyfriend. Can't wait . Keep up the awesome work . The cupcakes were good too and so were the cookies.

Naomi F.

Yelp
I am very happy that there is such a place like this. Their customer service has been improved. Very yummy cupcakes. Sweet treats served by sweet people. But I feel like they should lower their prices a bit.
google avatar

Natalia B.

Yelp
Delicious vegan desserts! They even have gluten free options! I love the almond croissant! The place needs an upgrade...And the staff needs to be more approachable.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Wow, this is a great little bakery in Montreal. My husband is gluten free so we came here to get some pastries and coffee one morning. They have not just one GF option, but MANY GF options. He was in heaven! We have been here several times since our first visit and we've tried many things including the pecan tarts, pumpkin tarts, spinach scones, cranberry scones, GF chocolate cookies, and others. Everything is delicious. One little word of caution.. If you order a coffee, don't forget this is a vegan place so you can't get dairy creamer or milk. Just coconut milk, almond milk, or soy milk.
google avatar

Jessie Z.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for some afternoon tea. I love sweets and vegan desserts are quite hard to find. But this place has so many different vegan desserts, such as cupcake, cheesecake, brownie, cinnamon roll, scone, cookies, and other things too. I got a hazelnut seal salt brownie, and my friend got a caramel cheesecake. They were both so delicious. The brownie was dense and chocolatey. The cheesecake really tasted like a real cheesecake, but lighter. My friend isn't vegan but loved both desserts. Whether you are vegan or not, these desserts are so good! There is also a good selection of tea and coffee. However, there are only like two tables if you want to sit down, but i noticed lots of people come in and out to just buy and take away.
google avatar

Aurora C.

Yelp
This isn't a fair review because I love Sophie's so much I'm a permanent resident and now live in the cafe. I found the lovely bakery while looking for a gluten free, vegan birthday cake for my husband. I had read mixed reviews from other bakeries around town, and Sophie's seemed to have the best gluten free mentions. Holy wow. It was the best cake I've ever had, not just the best gluten free cake. Their croissants are also killer (not gluten free, but vegan of course), and the location is so convenient.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
What a charming and delicious find this was on a rainy summer day. My boyfriend and I stumbled across this little dessert cafe and were pleasantly surprised to see it exclusively sells vegan baked goods. I asked for some suggestions since this was my first visit and the staff member was very kind and helpful steering me toward a few favorites. I ended up with a box of four sweets: a blondie, a chocolate chip cookie and two cupcakes. I also ordered a coffee and it was brewed fresh for my order. All of the items I bought were really tasty. It's tough to pick a favorite, but if pressed I have to go with the blondie bar because it was so moist and chewy and the pistachios in it were perfect.
google avatar

Sharon X.

Yelp
This place is super cute!!! However, it's super small and cramped and I found it difficult to really sit down and relax in the café. Also, I ordered the banana bread and it was rather dry and mediocre. Definitely worth coming to try out what vegan desserts are like, but I would choose a non-vegan place over this place.
google avatar

GlintOfBliss S.

Yelp
After researching found this bakery for a birthday vegan cake. Great communications as I was ordering from the states. The cake itself was big success everyone loved it. It was vegan carrot cake customized with a minion on top. Thanks again!

M G.

Yelp
First let me start off by saying that my rating is mostly based on the cupcakes, since I haven't tried anything else yet. There aren't that many places that serve vegan desserts in Montreal, so Sophie Sucrée is definitely one of the most popular ones. The store itself has a nice vibe and cute décor, and the food looks beautiful... overall very instagrammable. But moving on to the taste... I tried the black forest, vanilla, red velvet, and almond cupcakes. All the "cake" flavours were delicious and you could not even tell that they were vegan. Where they lose points is in the icing (in my opinion one of the most important parts). Instead of being creamy and fluffy it's like taking a bite of a stick of butter that has a weird taste. They need to step up their icing game.
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
I'm a pretty tough critic when it comes to desserts:) The place was pretty easy to find and it was the most adorable bakery I've been in so far! The girl at the counter was friendly. I ordered a coffee, chocolate cupcake, and brownie. The brownie was pretty poor in taste. I was pretty disappointed but the cupcake was delicious for a vegan cupcake! It was moist, light, and not overly sweet:) The coffee was sub par but I won't rate them on their coffee. I would come back here again for just the cupcakes or perhaps to try another dessert. The cakes they make look beautiful so I'm sure they are great for weddings!
google avatar

Alex F.

Yelp
We had a cinnamon bun and caramel hazelnut "cheese"cake. To die for! We'll be there for breakfast tomorrow. A vegan's paradise.

Yelp
I'm writing this as I sit in this adorable cafe. I had planned to stop in and grab a cup of coffee, but was taken aback by the elegance and charm of this little gem. The pastries are all beautiful and elegant, I immediately vowed to try them all, even if it meant a daily pilgrimage to Sophie Sucrée. The atmosphere is so friendly and wonderful - I decided that this is the kind of place where I can sit and read books and do emails all day. While I do this, I'm enjoying a fantastic cup of coffee with coconut cream, and a sumptuous carrot cake that crumbles in my mouth with the gentleness and sweetness of a lover's embrace. Ok, a pretentious metaphor like that means I might have fallen in love. With what? The beautiful, smiling pastry server? The cake? The cafe itself? All of it. Don't miss out on your chance for dietary romance - visit Sophie Sucrée.
