Visited during a business trip - solo. I'm always on the alert for great Thai, and gave this one a chance.
Staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was clean and simple. I asked for recommendations, but didn't get much from the servers.
I ordered a cup of Tom Kha Gai (chicken) to start. Not a great soup. It was fresh made, but lacked the flavor of coconut. Just a little disappointing.
For the main course, I ordered the Northern Thai Chicken - #5 hot. The server gave me a thumbs up for my choice.
It looked great - like a yellow curry (not sure what the difference was between this and a curry - this one was on the "special" menu). Chicken, onions, potatoes, and carrots. It was cooked well and was plenty hot. But the flavor was just a bit flat. A little adjustment helped greatly: 2 packets of the brown cane sugar on the table, stirred into the broth, did the trick (another may have helped more, but I didn't want to overdo it).
I would have scored a "4" if the dish tasted the same without my input. I saw good reviews posted before I went, but didn't really read them - noticing afterwards that "Thai" doesn't seem to be their strong suit. The server recommended several Chinese dishes before I ordered - maybe I should have taken that as a clue.
Not the worst experience, by far. If I go back, I'll have to rely more on the server's suggestions.
