My husband and I went to Sorella’s for a nice dinner without the kids, and this place did not disappoint. From the romantic atmosphere to the wonderful service from our server, Daniela, it was a perfect choice for a relaxing night out.
The bread served before the meal was warm, toasted to perfection, and paired with a delicious dipping oil. We started with the bruschetta, which had a wonderful balance of flavors—creamy ricotta, salty prosciutto, sweet fig jam, and vibrant pesto. While it was tasty, it didn’t quite match what I’d typically expect from a bruschetta, especially since the bread on the table was actually more toasted than the bread used for the appetizer.
For our mains, my husband really enjoyed his chicken parmesan, and my lumache pasta with short rib was outstanding—full of rich flavor and with melt-in-your-mouth tender meat. We managed to save room for dessert, sharing a cannoli with a silky-smooth, orange-kissed filling inside a crisp shell, accented with chocolate and pistachio. I paired it with an espresso that leaned a bit on the bitter side but was still enjoyable, especially with the two petite biscotti served alongside.
It was the perfect spot to enjoy one of our last dinners on vacation, and if we find ourselves back in Virginia Beach, I can absolutely see us returning.
