I was very excited to check this restaurant out as my husband and I are both huge fans of the Atlantic and once tried their special lamb ragu bolognese and were thoroughly impressed!
Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly host and our first site was a beautiful pasta bar. It really gives that Italian feel and I'd love to come back and sit there and watch them make fresh pasta as we dine. However, this time we chose to sit at the regular bar, especially since it was our first time in!
The bartenders were all very nice and did a wonderful job answering all of our questions and making appropriate recommendations to make our experience exactly what we were looking for. Most of their menu is made in smaller portions, including their pasta so it is perfect to order several small plates to share.
My husband and I started with an Aperol Spritz and a Hugo Spritz. As a huge Aperol Spritz fan, I was so excited to see that they had several Spritzes to choose from and their own little menu. Both of the Spritzes we tried were delicious and hefty in size! I thought the prices were very reasonable all things considered.
For lunch, we shared Risotto, Bruschetta, and Crispy Mozzarella. One thing is for sure-- they're not shy about using salt! All of the small plates were delicious, especially the Risotto and Bruschetta, both of which we would order again. I wasn't very impressed with the Mozzarella Bites and my husband and I agreed that they really could've used a little bit longer in the fryer because the cheese inside wasn't melted like you would've hoped. It was warm, but still very solid.
For dessert, we tried some Zeppoles and they were delightful! I wouldn't say that they are a must have for us next time, but we did enjoy them. They serve Espresso Martinis from the tap, which I didn't enjoy as much. It tasted slightly artificially flavored and lacked the aromas and flavors of fresh espresso. However, the bartender recommended a delightful Spanish cocktail called a Carajillo (pictured) which is FRESH espresso, vanilla liqueur, and an orange swath. It was divine!
All in all, we enjoyed our experience at Sorellas and look forward to returning to try some of their other offerings including their fresh pasta and pizzas!
