If you are looking to have a date night with your significant other at an Italian restaurant, this is an ideal and fine suggestion. The ambience is romantic with dimmed lighting, there was an old school and upscale vibe to it, attentive and unpretentious service, the Entree of the Day was superb, and there was a live pianist on the night we visited!
When pulling up to valet, I was a little displeased the attendant did not open my car door. I suppose I somewhat expected it since it was an high-end restaurant. Not the biggest deal but just wanted to make a note.
When you enter, you arrive to a bar and to the left is the hostess stand. When we checked-in with our reservation, we were asked to wait for a few minutes. We decided to check out and sit at the bar. For two drinks, it was $32.
There was a live pianist playing Christmas songs, which I loved and an added bonus to the night. Every white linen table was decorated with a small flower arrangement and candle. I appreciated these small touches.
Upon being seated, we were quickly greeted with an array of complimentary bread of your choice and a plate of olive oil/basil and a roasted garlic bulb to dip the bread in. Our waitress was courteous and waited on us assiduously to ensure a satisfactory dining experience.
Appetizers -
We shared:
-The Classic Escargot which I am usually a big lover of and it did not disappoint.
-The Traditional Caesar Salad and it was your run-of-the-mill, basic caesar salad.
Entrees -
-I ordered the Entree of the Day and it was a seafood pasta with scallops, shrimp, squid, salmon, clams, and mussels accompanied with white sauce. (You have your pick of either white or red sauce.) I LOVED it and would order it again. I even dipped the complimentary bread into the white sauce, yum!
-The second entree was the Pan Seared Wild Salmon and unfortunately the taste was lackluster, portion was comparatively little, and it was brought out lukewarm.
I am uncertain if I would like another date night here, but if friends or family invited me to dine at Sorrento, I would most likely visit again.
