Sosakukappo Otani

"The blending of Japanese and Western styles is the appeal of creative kappo cuisine here. With its pivot foot firmly in Japanese gastronomy, the restaurant moves imaginatively to incorporate Western elements. For example, the dashi is based on kombu and katsuo but, influenced by French chefs, mixes in fish fumet, the stock from the bones of white fish. To broaden its culinary range, the restaurant added an oven. Roasts and gratins now widen the scope of Otani’s Japanese cooking." - Michelin Inspector

Has the best lunch there, very tasteful dishes from start to end. Fish and seafood we had was the best quality, and the chef adapted perfectly for my pregnant wife dietary restrictions. Very talented chef, can’t wait to come back ! Thank you

Chef Otani crafted a delicious meal which is one of the best we’ve ever had. He served traditional Japanese food that we will likely think back on for a long time. My husband put the set menu meal on his top 10 meals ever. The restaurant is set-up like sitting at a chef’s counter so we were able to see our meal being prepared which was a real treat! Even with a bit of a language barrier, Chef Otani was able to give us detailed descriptions of each dish and gave us an amazing dining experience. The restaurant is very small so a reservation is recommended.

We had a nearly private meal on a Monday evening at this small, modern Japanese restaurant. Sashami, and new fish I had never heard of (filefish and conger, conger). Just a spectacular experience from start to finish. Otani-san is a true artisan of his craft. This Michelin bib gormond should be given a star!

Sublime food. Otani-san is delightful and so talented at what he does. We could not have had a better time. Tiny, cozy atmosphere. Super extensive sake collection, and if you're lucky one of the regulars will be there to chat with you about sake and the many dishes you're trying. Otani-san was so welcoming, not sure what that previous review was talking about and it's so rude to give an amazing restaurant one star just because you couldn't get in. 10/10, no notes!
