"Inspired by local culinary traditions but dedicated to expressing the modern-day sensibilities of Seoul cuisine, Soseoul Hannam serves up contemporary Korean food using ingredients that are most familiar to the local palate. The chef's creations are an homage to some of the more typical dishes and preparation techniques, including seasoned salads, pan-fried and braised dishes. Kelp chips, rich soybean paste stew, sliced raw fish with gomchwi (Fischer's ragwort) and aged kimchi, and chargrilled webfoot octopus are some of its signature offerings. The restaurant also offers traditional liquor pairings." - Michelin Inspector

Food is very underwhelming, and bland. Some flavors really didn’t pop out in any of the dishes. I was extremely dissapointed with the food, but maybe it’s a question of taste and someone will have a better experience. The korean ingredients were there but the taste was very french, as well as the way the dishes are made. The best dishes were the chestnut soup at the beginning, and the beef at the end. The service is good and the waiter that was serving us was very kind.

Food preparation and presentation 👏 as a Korean, however, I did find one or two dishes’ taste underwhelming. But I would still highly recommend this place to my foreign friends. Also, I read comments and complaints about the bathroom yet it seemed perfectly okay to me. Maybe they unreasonably expected the toilet to be made of gold or something. On that note, prepare to open your wallet if you eat here. 170,000 krw per person for lunch. Enjoy

I was in Seoul for one night for a layover, and wanted to go all out with the one dinner I had. Seseoul did not disappoint. From the time of booking the staff was accommodating for my food preferences and were very communicative by email. The restaurant itself is small and minimally decorated, you will find it warm and cozy in contrast with the busy streets of Seoul. The food came in a number of courses (maybe 10-12), some were decently sized like a sirloin course and a small course of handmade noodles, and some were meant to be taken in a single bite. I have to say that despite the chef’s use of creative ingredients (strawberries on oysters comes to mind, and refreshing apple juice in the abalone dish), the dishes were not completely from out of space. The ingredients still felt simple, though diverse and creating complex flavors. That’s not a bad thing at all - the food was balanced and well thought out, the chef was not trying to blow your mind with combinations you would never think of, but my mind was blown on occasion nonetheless. More importantly, the execution was perfect - temperatures, textures, combinations. When many high end restaurants are trying to do what hasn’t been done before, Soseoul Hannam does things right, and I would take that on a layover any day.

4.5/5 Well executed and creative dishes, cool interior design, wonderful personal and friendly service, great wine. Food - Quite a creative menu that balances Korean ingredients with mostly French technique. Feels like many other restaurants here in Seoul lean more extreme either way. Service - Very professional without being stiff, while being quite personal. Never felt under any pressure and was able to enjoy each and every dish. Wine - brought out some truly unique and incredible bottles for what is quite an affordable pairing. I opted for the 4 glass pairing at 160,000KRW, and was surprised to see such bottles as Calon Segur 2007. A few nitpicks: - Eel dish was too strawberry forward, which masked the complexity of the gochujang - Pumpkin ice cream was very bland. Could taste pumpkin on the first bite but after having some of the accompaniments, could barely taste anything - Uni in the crab dish was quite bitter

Went for my birthday and loved it! The service was great - the staff would literally be refilling my cup of tea as soon as it starts getting empty. Was a bit weird sitting in the middle of the dining area, but we kinda got used to it after a while. They have 1 bathroom, and if someones already in there, they will let you know when its available (I was joking with my boyfriend that the whole restaurant will know if you need to bathroom lol). After each customer uses the toilet, I think they give it a quick tidy up too which was nice. Food wise- I dont eat raw seafood, so they changed the menu slightly for me. All the dishes were nice. Somewhat similar to the usual asian cuisine I have but also different as they have a slight twist to them which makes them unique. I preferred some more over others, but this was personal preference. As it was my birthday, they also gave me a small plate of birthdah dessert, which was very nice of them 😊. My favourite dessert was their mandarin (or some other variety of citrus fruit) sorbet - extremely refreshing and both sweet and a hint of tangyness. Alot of their starters were supposed to be a single bite size but they were definitely a bit too big for me to put in my mouth in 1 go whilst still being lady like lol. Overall experience was great and I felt very looked after.

The restaurant has been on our wish list. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was very good. The staff were well trained and kind. The food was good. For the price, anyone would expect the quality and presentation. The chef’s creativity is well shown in each dish. Tasted good as they use good ingredients. The plating was also nice. Many details in each dish. I liked the zucchini dish a lot. Well mixed ingredients! Fish was fried quite nicely. Not greasy at all. Also enjoyed the ice cream with crumbles. One miss for us was the green apple cocktail. It is too creamy to pair with the meal. I wouldn’t recommend. Overall we had a good time. The food was nice! Not sure if we’d go back for the price though.

had 2pax lunch @ soseoul, a Michelin Star restaurant. This had to prebook and pay a deposit. an excellent dining experience, 3 amuse bouche, 3 dessert (1 basically a petite four) every dish quite exquisite and most importantly tasty all 3 amuse bouche great flavours, & the 2 tartines nice texture experience too..I like the second, I think Namly, best abalone was really good, superbly done texture, the sauce was excellent, apple, gochuhang👍 dumplings was great, looks like brussel sprouts, very tasty chicken stock. eel has excellent crusty texture, and tender inside. the sweet side gochujang not our palette, i guess a favourite here like the chicken dish mackerel was done really well, the flesh tender and sweet, and the sesame sauce very good too. hanwoo 韩牛very tender but we don’t like the preparation makes it taste like bakwa..just our personal preference the 3 desserts are good. service is excellent here 11.4.2025
