My friend and I ate scrumptious bossam at Sosom Ramen Bar & Bossam. I enjoyed my first time eating bossam, a thinly sliced boiled pork dish cooked over a stove. We ordered a mix of the original and green onion bossam. We also ordered an appetizer of grilled gyoza, and my friend got hot green tea. The whole meal came with banchan, lettuce wraps, and a bowl of rice.
The green onion option came with a gochujang sauce, which livened the bossam with a sweet, savory, and spicy flavor. The original bossam didn't have any extra flavor, so I mixed it with the two types of sauces they give you. I liked the lettuce wraps but preferred eating it more with rice. We also had a little extra bossam at the end, so I'd say the shared bossam meal would perfectly serve two people.
While the bossam cooked, we ate the banchan, which consisted of soybean sprouts, macaroni salad, kimchi, pickled pink radish and kimchi radish. My favorite banchan dishes were the macaroni salad and pickled pink radish. The grilled dumplings appetizer had a tasty savory flavor, and the rice had a lovely hot texture which made eating bossam delicious. I had a lot of leftover banchan and lettuce, which I enjoyed eating for lunch as a healthy option.
As for ambience, we saw only a few people eating here at the time, and the restaurant had a clean environment. The waiter kindly explained to us the size portions of the regular bossam dishes versus the bento meals. Basically, the bento dishes serve one person, while the bossam meal serves two people. However, if three people came and had a big appetite, I'd recommend buying more than one serving.
I appreciated our waiter's customer service and how he made us feel welcomed in the restaurant. Now that I've tried bossam here, I'd consider coming back to try their ramen on a quiet weekday because I really liked the ambience at the time.
