"Also new on the desert scene is Sossus Under Canvas, a handsome, exclusive-use tented camp near the iconic red-sand dunes of Sossusvlei." - Travel + Leisure Editors
Sossus Dune Lodge | Best places to stay in Namibia
"If you’ve always dreamt of watching the sunrise over the dunes of Sossusvlei, you’ll want to book a room at Sossus Dune Lodge.
It’s the only lodge inside the Namib-Naukluft Park, which means you can get to Sossusvlei’s famous sand dunes long before the public gates at Sesriem open at sunrise.
The lodge’s 25 roomy chalets are strung out along a wooden boardwalk, offering wonderful desert views from the spacious suites. Chalets 13-25 have views of the dunes (preferable), while 1-12 look into Sesriem Canyon.

Inside gate is the biggest edge
If you don’t opt to stay late or arrive early at sossusvlei deadvlei you do not need to stay in this location
During the day it is very very hot. I am surprised the price I paid for this lodge does not come with an air conditioner
At night it was still hot I could not sleep very well
Not to mention there were some
Mosquitoes and bugs that bit me
The food isn’t bad there
The staff are very welcoming
They have a board there and staff also instructing you the time to leave at morning and come back at night so you don’t violate the park rules
I managed to be the first person to get to deadvlei and the last person to leave thanks to this hotel
Just a note that this is the only location you can self drive and have direct access to the park
Some lodges claimed they have access but they don’t allow you to self drive

Beautiful location, friendly staff, great design of rooms. But terribly hot inside during day, as there is no air-conditioning, not even thick curtains to prevent hot sun coming straight in..

The benefit of staying here, and what you are paying a high cost for, is that you are inside the Park and early/ late access to the Park. For us, that was well worth the price! The room, staff, and food were all mediocre.

The tent was huge. The surrounding was beautiful. The room was a bit dusty though staff tried to keep it as clean as they can. One downside is the lack of AC with afternoon temp reached about 40C. The night was in 20's so it's more bearable.||The location is just inside the national park. We took the morning excursion to Sossusvlei. We were first car there and the guide secured the best picnic spot for us.||Highly recommended

Stayed here for one night in May 2025 and would highly recommend if you want to see Deadvlei at sunrise and hike dune 45 for sunset. If you’re not too bothered about that, I’m not sure it would be worth the price tag. There are lots of nice accommodation outside the park gates for much less.

A truly amazing experience. The accommodations are unique and spacious. The service and staff are impeccable. I felt welcomed and totally comfortable. The food is delicious, well presented, and huge portions. It was a great location to photograph the Milky Way from your porch overlooking the Namib Desert

Great location (for excursions!) for Sesrium Canyon and Elim Dune for sunset. Service, facilities and meals were much better than expected! Catered for our vegan and vegetarian diets, and the views from the room were great. The bathroom design and hot running water was amazing. Had a fridge, but no AC. Pity we couldnt enjoy the sunrise, due to our early excursion - climbing Dune 45 and Deadvlei.

Basic hotel with amazing location inside the park so you can be the first to go see the dunes in the morning with a breakfast to go. Large room with very nice view on dunes. Restaurant is super basic. staff service was a miss, Internet was not working . Pool with dunes view.
