Best Restaurants in Flagstaff, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"When Flagstaff restaurateurs Paul and Laura Moir closed Brix (one of Flagstaff’s first upscale modern American restaurants), legendary pizzaiolo Caleb Schiff (of Pizzicletta fame) snapped up the renovated space and decked it out even more, creating an elegant yet welcoming all-day hangout whose name means “stopover” in Italian. Locals drop in, often with laptops in tow, to work or relax over excellent coffees, baked goods, and breakfast items like the simple but superlative breakfast sandwich (egg, melted cheddar, herbaceous chimichurri, tomato, and arugula on sourdough). By early summer, there will be sandwiches for lunch, pastas and pizza for dinner. Save room for dreamy gelato and note that breakfast on the patio is bliss." - Nikki Buchanan

New York Restaurant Dez in Nolita Closes After Just Over a Year | Eater NY

"Conceived as a pasta spin-off meant to be the 'By Chloe of pasta,' the Sosta was ESquared and Wasser’s other fast-casual experiment, but it also went kaput after about a year." - Serena Dai

Beautifully-decorated and charming restaurant. We dined there and order the burrata caprese & focaccia to start. It was delicious and a gorgeous presentation. For entrees, two of three of us ordered the spicy rosmarino pasta. It was, unfortunately, way too hot. I love spicy but I never enjoy a dish that is so hot that you can’t appreciate the flavors. We couldn’t taste the homemade noodles or herbs. There were other patrons around us who also said that it was incredibly hot. I told a server and she stated that she tried it and it was too hot to her. So, hopefully in the future, it won’t be insanely hot. You’re welcome 😉 I also had a nice, spiced hot chocolate with a splash of bourbon and creamy gelato for dessert. I’d return but try another pasta dish.

Google
Very disappointed overall. The pastas were blah and the sauces had absolutely no flavor. The decor was not attractive and restaurant didn’t have a good vibe at all. I will say the only positives were the salads. Hopefully they can turn it around a bit. The place was solid back in the day when it was called Brix (I believe) flagstaff is known for its culinary experiences too.

Absolute 10/10 across the board. The food was amazing, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and our food came out impressively quickly without sacrificing quality. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. Hands down one of the best café experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend! Serving size was huge I could only eat half my breakfast burrito.

We found a new Gem in Downtown Flagstaff!… a fairly new place, a couple blocks off the main hustle of old town but it is a beautiful, dinning experience!. It’s in an old Carriage house and the Ambience is so cool! Sosta has a super cool, dog friendly patio under old aspens , party lights and just an amazing vibe! The food is awesome! They have a pizza oven and serve amazing pizza, the pasta was fantastic and the Brownie with gelato was amazing. Personable service and it just made a great impression on us… enough to feel we have a new , great Goto restaurant. Can’t wait to go back and try even more!

Very great service with absolutely wonderful & friendly staff, a great place to set up with a laptop and work for the day the vibes are impeccable. Food and coffee are both delicious. I love adding flavored hazelnut cold foam to my mocha!

We had a delicious family dinner here recently. I love that reservations are available for dinner. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent with our server checking in with us several times. We shared the grazing board to start, and every item was delicious. We all ordered a different pasta and each dish was flavorful and well presented. I want to return for gelato, as I was too full to try it this visit.

We stumbled upon this restaurant in beautiful Flagstaff in the fall. The food was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly. They even let our cat dine in the backyard.

Google
I absolutely loved Sosta! It is the cutest resturaunt ever. Sosta is a little bit hidden in Flagstaff, but soo yummy! It's very cozy yet clean. The seating areas are super nice and they have an outdoor patio, too! We went for breakfast and ordered the French Toast (Heavenly!! Actually so delicious) which comes with fresh blueberries, homeade whipped cream, maple syrup, and all the yummies. 😋 We also ordered the Hash Bowl, which was very fresh and filling without being heavy.

Yelp
We were passing through Flagstaff driving up to Page from Pheonix. This restaurant popped up on recommendations, and once I saw the house made pasta, I was on my way! We parked a block away on the street, next time i will check thier lot. It's a narrow entrance from the street, but it has a dozen spots. I ordered the Carbonara Fettuccine add mushrooms and Chicken. O M G. So good. My friend got the chicken sandwich, which I assume was fine. I honestly was enraputured by my pasta. They only had one type of cookie available after lunch, I should have ordered at the same time. I got iced tea, which has refills if you ask. Gorgeous Dining room with a fireplace and an upstairs. They have several bathrooms ( i got corrected by my partner when I walked all the way to the one by the kitchen ).

Yelp
We went to Sosta for the first time last weekend and had high hopes, as we were staying at the inn next door and saw the packed parking lot for a few days so we figured it must be good. We made same day dinner reservations and requested a table by the fireplace for ambiance. When we arrived they couldn't seat us close to it, but at least put us nearby so we could sort of see it, and mentioned it wasn't even on but they would put it on- strange given it was 30 degrees outside. We sat for over 10 mins before a server came over to greet us, and she didn't apologize for the delay. It looked busy (downstairs where we sat was 75% full and there's also an upstairs section) so we get it, but just saying I'm sorry for the wait and I'll be right over goes a LONG way. We asked what kind of vodka the had since we typically order vodka martinis with dinner, and she listed one odd flavor; when we asked about a plain option she hastily replied that they could only make the cocktails listed on the limited menu as they don't have a full bar. This was our first disappointment as the only one on that menu that appealed to us was an espresso martini, but we don't usually order those at dinner. Needing to get something, we did get that, and it was good but not great in taste and size so not worth $14. It all took forever to come out, and it wasn't just us- we watched the tables around us wait very long for drinks as well- one receive their food before their drink arrived. That's a huge negative for us when dining out when the pace is way off like that. The service with the first server continued to be poor; she was non attentive and gave us the impression she was doing us a favor just by being there at all and she could take or leave us. Luckily her shift must have been ending because halfway through the meal we got a new server who was super sweet and provided much better service. Food wise, we shared the cashew Caesar which was excellent. Very unique presentation and flavor. For entrees, we ordered the spicy pasta and the carbonara pasta. We had high hopes since it was homemade fettuccine. Unfortunately they were both just ok. My carbonara also appeared that it had sat for a bit because the sauce had started oiling over, and I didn't see a fresh egg yolk on top as I'd seen in other photos. Neither dish was piping hot either. We sadly agreed we won't go back which is a bummer since we loved the inn next door and were hoping for a nice dinner option nearby when our favorite (Josephine's) is closed on Sundays.

Yelp
Honestly this place checked just about all the boxes for me and will definitely be somewhere I come back to when I'm in town, and baffled that I haven't heard of it before now! There was literally just one thing (ok employee) that kept it from being 5 stars... First, we walked in to order at the counter and the line moved efficiently and there were plenty of menus accessible, which is always nice! We decided on the carbonara for my fiance and I got the chicken Caesar wrap when I saw they use a cashew dressing (ya girl is allergic to lactose - this bit becomes important later). On the board was a winter drink special of a hot chocolate with chai, cinnamon, etc... My fiancé knows this is right up my alley, so he asks me about it at the counter, and we end up making conversation for a bit with the person taking our order who apparently came up with the drink! She was all around very friendly and great, and added the drink in for us, with the addition of a shot of espresso per her recommendation The entire place is cute, but the weather was too good to not enjoy the patio and the hot chocolate/ mocha thing was SO GOOD!! One little problem though.... I'm almost done with it when my fiance suddenly states "wait, did we ever specify not regular milk in that?" .... damnit. We're usually really good about this, and I bet the woman taking our order usually asks about milk preference, but all of us were distracted by conversation and chatting flavors. At this point, I'm like "welp, the next 24 hrs will be not fun...." (bear with me here, this is pertinent to the one star off for experience, and not because I had dairy. That I take responsibility for) I don't carry lactaid on me because, well, in the 17 years I've had the allergy, I've never used it. Granted, taking lactaid after the fact doesn't do nearly as much as taking it ahead of time, if anything. But still, I think "maybe someone on staff has some on the off chance that'll it'll help decrease how bad this is about to be even 1%" So I ask and the woman I talk to is beyond understanding and helpful, going around asking everyone if they have a lactose allergy and happen to carry lactaid on them. Here's where my experience soured a bit. (Also bear with me with assumed genders as identifiers and my apologies to anyone who's non-binary) From where I was standing I could kinda see and hear the expo counter, but they weren't looking over to where I was to see me. And one of the employees (tall female with glasses) proceeded to talk smack about the idiot who ordered dairy when they're allergic, laughing about it with the other employee (shorter male). Not a good look yall. Especially with how open that area is to the customer area, and directly beside the bathroom. You never know who's within earshot. Back to the great - the food came out and was BOMB! And, the silver lining to having the whole milk drink is that since I knew I was f*cked anyways, I could have a bite or 2 of my fiancé's pasta which had a butter sauce (the cheese on it was sheep, so actually fine there). Y'all, if you don't have any allergies that keep you from getting that dish, DO IT!! I miss pasta sauces like that so much and both of us loved it so much. The Caesar wrap was also very good and the pepitas in it were a great addition.

Yelp
While staying in Flag we were blessed to stay next to this super cute establishment. I was able to sneak over early in the morning. Walking in you are greeted and the smells of coffee, sweets and breakfast delish hit your nose. I only wanted to have a latte so didn't experience the food.....this time. The lattee was made and handed off hot and delish! We will be back in March and staying next door again. Will absolutely give the food a try!

Yelp
I came here for breakfast around 830am on a Saturday. I was worried it would be really busy/no parking, but that was not case. Lots of parking and no wait to order when we arrived. By the time we left around 930am it was busy though. There is upstairs, downstairs and outdoor seating in this rustic, casual restaurant. They offer pastries, coffees, breakfast, lunch and dinner (weekends only). I tried the vegan burrito and added eggs. It was awesome, and large enough for two meals or to split. They also had an ANTI-pumpkin spice latte drink that was really delicious too. Sosta was an awesome find for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to come back to try their lunch/dinner.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast on a recommendation from an AirBnb host. Food was so good and coffee was so good. Place is cute.

Yelp
Now let me tell you - this place is a GEM! From the staff and how friendly they are, to the decor to the food, 10/10 coffee shop hands DOWN! It's a two level shop and has great space both inside and out to spread out to study, eat, chat with friends, catch a vibe - whatever you're looking for.

Yelp
We went to Sosta after a day of hiking in Flag. Super darling historic building turned into a restaurant. Lots of beautiful charm all over the place from copper accents, an old wood fireplace, to floral wallpapers. They seated us quickly and our food came out within 30 minutes. The servers were tentative without hovering, which I love. The food at Sosta feels like it's really trying to be sophisticated and simple. The items on the menu reminded me of traditional Italian cuisine- focused on using few ingredients of extremely high quality. We got the Spicy Pasta with Chicken and the Balsamic Prosciutto Arugula Pizza. The pasta was very fresh and the sauce was delish. The pizza was also good. Expect to spend around $25 per person here on a plate (not including drinks). I don't tend to be the person to leave a sparkling review at 4 stars, but there was just something missing from the food. I kept wanting some salt, or shredded parmigiana and pepper flakes. While the experience over all was good, I'm not sure it was amazing enough for me to come back.

Yelp
We ordered matcha latte, americano, breakfast sandwich, and the hash bowl. Americano is good but impressive, but I don't like the matcha latte, matcha was not strong enough and tasted a little bit watery. Food was good, most of the dishes are vegan, the side salad of the breakfast sandwich was flavorful but light, and the sandwich was also refreshing. The hash bowl was also amazing, I liked the pesto sauce on top, and the flavor of sweet potatoes and potatoes were also great. There were many seats and the environment was great for relaxing.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere on the back patio. We already had a dinner stop prior so just tried their caesar salad but it was good. It was on the mustard-y side, had crunchy pumpkin seeds and housemade cashew parmesan. I really liked the texture and crispiness of the salad in particular. I have had vegan caesar salad dressings and cashew based cheeses that I liked better but I still really enjoyed it. It is a few minutes walk out of the busier area of downtown Flagstaff and surrounded by houses which made it less busy and less noisy. We really appreciated the peacefulness and lack of lines and crowds. They have a vegan pizza and vegan pasta on the menu and has a vegan cookie in the bakery which we didn't try because it was a stop in the midst of a little dinner hop :) My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE chicken Caesar wrap, and had been missing it since changing to a largely vegan diet. Sosta had an amazing roasted chickpea Caesar wrap that absolutely satisfied my craving! It was large and so filling without feeling gross. Very clean, fresh food. Folks are friendly. A little overly trendy in crowd just trying to get a table, but not enough to stop me from going back.

Yelp
Got the latte, hash, and French toast Latte with oat milk - tasty and not bitter Hash - nice sauce, would be nice to be able to add a protein side French toast - nice citrus in the egg batter but overall the egg batter ratio to French toast was so small, the dish was primarily bread Nice ambience outside with some shade. However, the layout is a bit clunky. In picking up our drinks and getting to the table, I was brushing by other guests.

Yelp
This must have been an off day. I won't write my thoughts because there were way too many hiccups. Definitely will try again.

Yelp
What a perfect place for a summer night's dinner! We sat outside on the patio with a bottle of wine, two pasta dishes, and two pizzas. I noticed that there was almost no one sitting indoors, for good reason, as it was lovely outside. There is table service at dinner, which I prefer to the counter service at lunch. The wine selection is small, but well curated. The carbonara is worth the whole trip, but the lemon thyme fettuccine was no slouch! I do enjoy the Pizzicleta pizzas, so I'm happy to enjoy them in b an elevated setting. I'll be back!

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday before heading to the Grand Canyon. Really pretty space with a solid menu and plenty of seating, which made it easy to fit our group of six. I had the avocado toast with an almond milk latte, my partner ordered a plate that had eggs, bacon and toast with an oat milk latte, and my son had the kids French toast. Everything was delicious. Definitely recommend for a great breakfast in a beautiful spot.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Service was good and the place was chill and comfortable. Wish the price was a little better. Two breakfast burritos, and two coffees was over $60 before a tip

Yelp
Great place, inside a historic carriage house, excellently designed and well thought out. Servers were friendly! Coffee came out slow, seemed like 10-15 minutes for a drink. Maybe about 15-20 minutes for a sandwich and yogurt. Seems like there is room for efficiency. Food: excellent quality! However, I think everything was under-seasoned. Even missing Salt and pepper. The blueberry oat bar was nice, but again lacking flavor, like adding a little lemon or spice. Same with yogurt granola with berries. Berries were bland and I wish some honey or something was used to brighten the dishes. Overall, very vanilla. Love the space though, so will be back to try something else.

Mitch S.

Yelp
I wish I found this place sooner! Awesome coffee and the breakfast burrito is one of my all time favorites. I will visit Sosta every time I'm in town from now on!

Yelp
Sosta truly has the best ambience in flagstaff. The building is beautiful, with patios in the front and back. While the food is quite good, you definitely pay a premium for the location. The prices might be less noticeable if they came with some service, but after hitting the counter to order, you're pretty much on your own for everything. Don't let that dissuade you though, it's a solid spot for a weekend breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Went for dinner after an art opening. We're seated right away, service was excellent, staff were attentive and friendly. The two Pasta dishes we had were excellent. Cocktails were well mixed and the gelato for desert was just enough. This might be the best deal in Flag. We will be back.

Eric M.

Yelp
I feel compelled to provide some negative feedback. Went to dinner expecting a memorably good experience with my family, looking to continue to support a local restaurant. It was not busy. We were seated on the second floor. We felt ignored. The service was incredibly slow which included clearing of empty appetizer plates and refilling our water. The entrees came out at random times-not all at once. One of the pizzas was undercooked. We did not leave impressed. It's hard to be excited about this place end though I am a local.
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
Top notch ambiance is the draw - very romantic and cute; great place for a date. The self serve water station was unique. Food quality is high. Pricing is above average but not extreme; in particular it felt like the beverages were expensive. Biggest drawback during our visit is that we had a "where's the beef?" situation whereby both the breakfast burrito and mushroom bowl were filled with potatoes but not very much egg.

Yelp
A true gem in Flagstaff -- pasta perfection. Sosta is incredible for lunch. I can't speak to breakfast or dinner yet, but based on what I've experienced, this place easily earns a spot in my Top 5 pasta experiences -- and that includes living in Italy for six months and traveling the world in search of great pasta. I've had the Rosmarino and it's nothing short of divine -- sweet, rich, savory -- hitting every note on the palate. The Pepito Pesto is also excellent: nutty, zesty, and full of flavor. I typically add their house pancetta, and it's always executed perfectly. Portions are spot on -- satisfying without going overboard. The pasta is handmade and made to order -- and you can absolutely tell. The texture, the freshness, the love that goes into it -- it's all there. Some may prefer dried pasta, but if you're a fresh pasta fan like me, you'll be in heaven. Drinks have been well-crafted and balanced. And don't skip dessert -- their salted caramel vegan gelato is now my favorite post-pasta treat. The setting? Storybook-worthy. Nestled in a historic carriage house with warm lights, lush foliage, and a private, tranquil vibe that feels miles away from the bustle. While I can only speak to their pasta offerings, they are, hands down, the best I've had in Flagstaff. Shift Kitchen is the only other contender in my book. Can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu. An absolute must-visit for any pasta lover.

Yelp
Came for coffee and breakfast, and left with an experience. Just passing through from Colorado to California and this is a highlight of our trip. Great service and quality for nice prices. We'll be back!!

Yelp
While this sort of American cafe food isn't my usual thing, this place does stand out on two accounts: 1. Their milk-based cafe drinks are _really_ foamy. The matcha latte (with whole milk) was perhaps the most well-blended with foam I've ever had. 2. The dishes are very well-seasoned and have unusually fresh ingredients. While the hash bowl doesn't have the crunch of a hash brown, the potatoes are perfectly tender, the herbs are just enough without being overwhelming, and the other vegetables are very fresh.

Yelp
I love this place! I went the weekend it opened and have been going every weekend I can since then. I love to come here, grab a drink & something to eat, and then chill and read a book! I love the space, and the staff is very friendly :) Highly recommend for a quick stop or a long hang.

Yelp
Really nice spot a couple blocks from downtown. Beautiful patio space in back, plenty of indoor space. We ordered the spring mix salad with apples and added chicken & a cold matcha green tea, very good. As well as the kale ceasar salad & tomato bisque soup. Soup was great, kale salad was decent. Will definitely be back to try breakfast.

Yelp
This café has ample space, both indoors and outdoors, and it's conducive to work, relaxation with a good book, or a fun outing with friends. The coffee was delicious, and I also enjoyed the citrus French toast, though I didn't find it particularly citrusy. The service is friendly and courteous. Don't expect to get your drink or food in thirty seconds; however, the wait was perfectly reasonable. If you use Google Maps, you may get lost. The main entrance is on San Francisco Street, but the entrance to the parking lot is off an alley.
google avatar

Sofia R.

Yelp
This place was so cute from the outside but the food was tasteless. When you walk in it was a little confusing, but you have to look at the menu that are at the front counter and then order at the front counter cashier and then she'll give you a number and I'll come find you in the seating area. My friend ordered avocado toast and it was served swiftly. She said there was no flavor even in the avocado mash. It took several minutes to find someone to ask for salt and pepper to help. My burrito didn't arrive for nearly 30 more minutes. My food was also bland. It came with two kinds of potatoes the Yukon were still raw and the sweet potatoes were overwhelmingly stuffed in the burrito. I used ample salt and pepper but was overall it was a waste of money. Maybe they are better other days.

Yelp
Very cute atmosphere! Coffee and breakfast were great. Portions are large and very sharable. I want to come back for lunch or dinner. We will be back!

Yelp
Charming ambiance in a cozy, rustic setting. The food was delicious, and it was a perfect way to spend an early evening. Dinner service starts at 5, but there are plenty of tasty snacks and drinks to enjoy while you wait for the kitchen to open. We had a lovely time.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch. My wife and I got pasta with chicken. Sat on the patio and the ambience was perfect for a summer afternoon. Pasta was nice and light with complex flavors. We got two different pastas and can't wait to try the others. The only con was the chicken was slightly overcooked, but nothing that severely detracted from the meal.

Yelp
Exceptional historic building. We ate on the back patio. Very serene and beautiful. Unfortunately the food was not on point. My husbands pizza cletta pizza was burned and the mushrooms overcooked. My pasta sauce was not good...fettuccini was a little undercooked even for Al dente. Our apple chèvre salad was good except ruined with too much dressing. The gelato was good. I wouldn't say amazing. All in all except al fresco dining it was meh...expected more...

Meghan M.

Yelp
They did it yet again! Amazing place to work, service is always great. Great coffee, great matcha, great pastries and pasta! Will continue to keep coming.

Mike L.

Yelp
This place has a parking problem. I saw people parking their vehicles illegally in a business that is off of Leroux St. The access/address for Sosta is San Francisco St. but the customers are taking over the entire neighborhood. Bikes are locked to trees on private property with the owner's knowledge. If I lived in this area I would be super upset with the amount of noise, traffic, and disregard for residents personal property and right to peaceful enjoyment.

Janet H.

Yelp
We enjoyed a latte and double espresso outside on the back patio. Latte perfectly made and patio quiet and secluded from street. Parking free since restaurant/cafe a couple blocks from historic downtown

Yelp
They forgot about us and left us waiting for about an hour. Never came to serve us. I hope this improves.

Yelp
Be prepared for no service, order at the counter and hope that your meal is what you ordered. I ordered the tofu caesar wrap and was asked by the rude front counter person whether or not I knew what tofu was. Then my wrap showed up with bacon on it. The restaurant was dirty and unorganized, the food was awful.

Denisa G.

Yelp
A must stop for the best pasta in flagstaff, great ambiance in a tucked away neighborhood feeling.

Yelp
This is the perfect little neighborhood restaurant. I have been twice since I learned about it last month. The drinks and pastries are great. It is the kind of place you can meet a friend for lunch or come by yourself and work or read. The physical space is very inviting and the vibe is perfect. I love it!

Yelp
Great coffee. Thoughtfully crafted recipes. Effortlessly contemporary and comfortable.

Mark P.

Yelp
We went there with friends for the first time and we liked the food, but the overall service lacked friendliness. Sitting at our table with dirty dishes for over 30 minutes after we were done is just not a good look. They asked if we are done and needed anything and kept walking. Even coming into the restaurant they don't make you feel welcome. Atmosphere and setting are great, but not guiding your guests through your set up and how things work isn't a good start.

Ashley O.

Yelp
Stopped by here for coffee before heading back to Phoenix. Absolutely adorable inside and had a wonderful vibe. 10/10 for atmosphere. However the coffee was some of the worst I had ever had. It was so incredibly bitter and I ordered the local special they had with a lavender sweet cream on top. My husband tried it and agreed as well. I went and asked for more sweetener and it helped a bit but it was still so bitter. Wouldn't return for the coffee.

Khole N.

Yelp
All around bad experience. Both service and food leave something to be desired. There was a point where we sat for ~40 minutes unaddressed with empty drinks and no food. What makes it worse is that the owner was sitting a few tables down and we continued to have bad service. The pomodoro was a glorified crushed can of tomatoes without seasoning and the meatballs were almost rubber. The pizza was severely underdone and nothing to write home about. The happy hour drinks are passable at best. There are definitely better spots in Flagstaff. We live around the corner so this is very disappointing.

Yelp
Great coffee, rich, flavorful. Good food. There are several different areas to hang out, each with its own unique character. We'll be ba

Yelp
Had lunch at Sosta today, the food was OK, not outstanding. The atmosphere is wonderful, the decor etc, loved the concrete tables. A few things to consider, we were upstairs, the water station is downstairs, with no pitchers to carry water to table so had to be very careful with water and hot drinks going up the stairs. The "service" was not exceptional. The food was brought to our table which had no napkins, and a glass with a note asking us to bus our own tables. I gave a 20% tip at the counter when I ordered, but had I known that I would have to go up and down the stairs to refill my water, as well as the two elderly ladies who were with me, as well as bus my own table, I may have left only a 10% tip. Needs a little work.

I'm giving 2 stars because my first experience here was better. We had a nice dinner over the weekend where even the owner was upstairs and very kind and talkative. The food that night was good, and the price was okay. Fast forward to today for lunch and it was awful. First of all when you walk in and ask what pastries are vegan be cautious and ask fora list of ingredients. My daughter was told the coconut macaroon was vegan and bought one. Before she ate it, I told her that's very rare and that most use eggs. She went back to double check, and the kitchen staff (maybe manager?) finally read the ingredients and told her she was right there were egg whites listed, and they were misinforming folks. Not cool. Then we ordered a cup of tomato basil soup (vegan with no cheese) to go and a Vegan Caesar salad to go. The salad to go is very small for the price they charge. They gave us a number, and we went upstairs after getting our coffee. No one ever came up 25 min later we went down, and it was sitting on the counter. My daughter opened up her soup and 2nd mistake they put cheese on her vegan soup. I tasted the tomato basil soup and instantly gagged. It was pure salt and seriously not edible. I ran down to tell her not to get a replacement without cheese and let her try mine. She also gagged on the copious amount of salt and could not eat the soup. We told the same kitchen lady about it and she seemed incredibly annoyed with us. The cook tasted the soup and I saw him tell her yes it is too salty. He even came over and said he was sorry and did not know what happened. They offered kale soup they made which was just broth a few beans and hardly anything in my cup to make it worth the money. Go in cautious if you are vegan or have allergies for sure. The staff (outside of the owner in my prior experience) aren't super friendly and just want to get you in and out. I love the ambience of this place, but they have to step up their game big time. I paid $28 before tip for a cup of soup and salad and a small coffee. Not worth it.
