We made a reservation and we were seated fairly quickly. The service was not great and it took them awhile to take our orders and even longer just to get some water. The atmosphere was okay. The seats were in pretty bad condition and the decor was extremely dated. The food was really good for the most part. They were out of some items we initially ordered. The fried catfish, okra, Arnold Palmer was amazing. The cornbread was pretty dry though. The music was pretty good.

I just had the best experience at this place with my family! Jedidiah truly made our evening unforgettable. The food was absolutely PERFECT – every bite was delicious! The atmosphere had such a cool vibe, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and taken care of. I was so impressed that I even told a few friends who are visiting to reach out for reservations; they won't want to miss out! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, a fantastic atmosphere, and a wonderful sense of community.

Google
10/10/10 the food, the vibes and the service was great! I highly recommend making a reservation as this place gets booked easily. Everything I got was great. Felt like I was back home in my mommas house chilling with my fam. I’ve been living in Japan over 2+ years and I haven’t met so many black people in one place. Highly highly recommend. My boyfriend loved the hot chicken and waffles and the gumbo was packed with flavor.

We were really looking forward to visiting Soul Food House in Tokyo, especially since it was our first stop after traveling all the way from Chicago. As a Black-owned restaurant, we had high hopes for some authentic soul food that reminded us of home. We did enjoy a few items like the Thai chili fries, black-eyed peas with cornbread, gumbo, and the blue raspberry Kool-Aid they were definitely the highlights. However, overall, we were very disappointed with the food quality. We tried nearly everything on the menu, and most of it just didn’t meet our expectations. The alcoholic drinks were also watered down and lacked taste. Unfortunately, our second visit was even worse if we had to rate it, it would be a 1/10. The service, food quality, and cleanliness all fell short. To top it off, the owner was present but never greeted guests or checked in on how anyone was enjoying their meal. Customer service like that really matters especially when you don’t know who might be dining in your establishment. We wanted to love this place, but sadly, we can’t recommend it based on our experience.

Google
The food was excellent. The owner was awesome. The server however needed alot more experience. He forgot our drinks and also spilled water all over my phone because he wasn't paying attention. Wasn't a bad server just needs more experience, which is only reason that i did not rate it as a 5

I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to write a review, despite coming here many times. This is by far (perhaps the only?) best soul food restaurant you can get in Tokyo. There is bar none. I mean, they got fried catfish! And okra! And gumbo! The vibes here are so unique to Tokyo, it feels like you’ve portaled to the South. Good for big parties, make sure to make a reso in advance!

Google
Soul Food House in Tokyo is a must-visit! This Black-owned gem served up some of the best country fried chicken I've had—it instantly reminded me of home. Even though we arrived just after the kitchen had closed, they welcomed my family in with genuine Southern hospitality and made sure we were fed. The food, the vibe, the people—everything was top-notch. Highly recommend!

Google
My partner and I came here for dinner. She had the Hot Chicken and Waffles and some sort of grey sky cocktail (I don't recall the exact name), and I had the Country Fried Steak and Apple Pie Moonshine Iced Tea. My partner's drink was a bit strong for my tastes, but the moonshine was exceptional! The best drink I've had in Japan so far. The chicken and waffles were similarly exceptional, and I wish I had gotten them. The country fried steak was pretty chewy and a little underseasoned, but all the sides (salad, corn bread, mashed potatoes, gravy, and mac and cheese) were tasty and that made up for it. Service was friendly and very welcoming, but a little on the slower side. In my opinion, the food was worth the wait, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're in a rush. Not that you would want to rush out as the venue has a lovely atmosphere! Overall, a nice dining experience and a piece of home in Tokyo.

Yelp
Honestly I'm still thinking about this place. This was my favorite meal in Japan. I felt at home at The Soul Food House. It's cozy in there and it's got a great view of the neighborhood near the window seats. They had neo soul playing and some good old school tunes that made me feel like I was at granny's house for Sunday dinner. I'm a true southern girl, and when I say this was a good ole southern meal, I mean it. The catfish was fresh and crispy and well flavored. No hot sauce or ketchup needed. The waffle was a good thickness and had just the right amount of sweetness. The tenders were so flavorful and authentic. The okra batter stuck to the okra perfectly. The batter on everything was just right. Not too heavy at all. That mac and cheese had a great cheese pull. It was a true southern, buttery, baked mac and cheese. The cookout drink was so good! It was cherry koolaid with Hennessy. I actually don't drink anymore, so I swapped the Hennessy for soju and it changed my life! Lol. But to give my props to the bartender, he actually sent me a cookout drink with henny initially and it was mixed so well, I couldn't really even tell until the end of my meal. But they were kind enough to make the correct drink free of charge. Speaking of, the service was impeccable! Jedidiah was incredible. So kind and welcoming. We had a great conversation and he even invited my fiance and I back to the restaurant later that night for a comedy show, which we went to and enjoyed! Also, we got to meet and thank TT, one of the owners, who had been in the kitchen as a one man band, cooking everything by herself. And she killed it! Not only was the service great but the food was super inexpensive. I've been telling all my friends to visit this place when they come to Japan. I hope they take my advice and thank me later!

Yelp
Whenever the husband has a hankering for chicken and waffles (which is once in a blue moon), we end up at Soul Food House. I almost always end up getting the hot (spicy) chicken and waffles because it's that good; even better than the one I had at Roscoe's in LA! On our last visit, we brought some friends who had never been to SFH and were blown away; one had the biscuits and gravy while the other had the chicken-fried steak and they loved it! We also got the side of mac n cheese and it's always a favorite! No complaints on service and they came by often enough to refill our water glasses. If you decide to visit on a weekend, be sure to get a reservation because the place gets BUSY!

Yelp
A must go! If you are ever in the area and you want great tasting American soul food you have to dine here. Make reservations first! Seat is limited and it is always busy. The ambiance is casual and can be intimate just because of the small setting. However there is a lounge upstairs if you want to just grab a good drink. The soul food house also have theme nights (comedy, music, and more)

Yelp
After a week in Japan, we were excited to visit Soul Food House to get a quick taste of home and meet some other black expats as tourists curious about life abroad. First off, make sure that you have a reservation because it was packed even on a random Thursday. The food was very good. We had the country fried chicken and waffles, hot chicken wrap and fries, and the gumbo. Everything was seasoned well. The staff was really nice too and you can tell that the owners want to make the space a home for black expats (although it was a beautifully diverse crowd). I was surprised to learn that they also own a sister space upstairs in the same building where they host other events: comedy shows, fish fry's, expat meetups, whatever people want. I'd definitely come back on my next (and hopefully longer) stay in Japan.

Yelp
The place is small and the service was good. The food was honestly not the best. Nothing was horrible but it just didn't have enough flavor for me to be soul food. The corn bread was burnt and going out of my way to go here felt like a waste. I say try it for yourself but the food is mid. The nachos were the best thing that we ate there. It's like a Nashville hot chicken and was really good. My bill was about $80 for two people.

Yelp
Friendly staff . Awesome to see people of color! A reservation is absolutely needed or you may not sit . Drinks are a little weak . Absolutely still cool just I'm from Los Angeles so I'm used to heavy hands . Mac and cheese was ok . Kinda taste boxed with seasoning ! Cat fish was cool : enjoyed the fries ordered them extra crispy .. they are skinny fries so my kid ate them like chips she loved them. She enjoyed her cherry coke . They use LeBron Hennessy ! We ordered additional catfish. The greens are vegetarian they were ok ! Mind you I ate everything I would def eat here again but I cook so I'm hella picky and it's Japanese seasoning so I can taste the difference . I did want to try the black eyed peas but I got full so next time ! I also am interested in the grits so next time overall I give it a six out of ten and I would def recommend ! I wish the bigger noodles were used for the Mac and cheese !

Yelp
So happy to find this place, it's like having a little piece of home in Tokyo. The food was nothing short of AMAZING! Mama can cook! The service was great, very kind and I even got a chance to speak with the owner. The ambiance was so nice. I came on a Sunday so they had gospel music playing. The space was small but I'm started to get use to the quaint restaurants. Definitely 10 of 10, would recommend!

Yelp
Felt like I was at my auntie's house. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. Good music at a reasonable volume. The owners were there and super personable. We had reservations for Sunday brunch and were seated promptly. Highly suggest making reservations as the restaurant is small. They have an extensive food and drink (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) menu and the portions are generous. We ordered the fried catfish and grits, mac and cheese, side of greens, biscuit, and gumbo. Everything was fresh and delicious. It's obvious that the food is made with love. I highly recommend visiting Soul Food House when in Tokyo.

Yelp
My wife took me here for my birthday. She reserved the table which was probably a good idea because it got busy really quickly. The restaurant is on the 6th floor and they also have a bar on the 9th floor. The food was pretty good. We had fried pickles, ribs with the mac and cheese, chicken and waffles, carrots, fries. I wish the waffle was a little bit more crispy. The mac and cheese was life! The service was great and very friendly! Plus they brought out a dessert waffle for my birthday and sang which was nice.

Yelp
If you are looking for good old-fashioned soul food... Soul Food House is the place to eat in Tokyo, Japan. The restaurant is quaint and casual. The music is great while you enjoy the food. I went for brunch it was cool vibes. The waitress Stacey is professional and friendly. The owners are very catering and friendly to their customers. I ordered the chicken and waffle, shrimp in sauce, and Caesar salad. My friend ordered the catfish with grits. We ordered delicious non-alcoholic drinks. The place is a must-visit. Check it out if you are in Tokyo.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. It tastes like soul food from the south. Mrs Whitaker cooks it and she really has the gift for making the food irresistible. The art and furnishings contribute to a cozy feel. I felt like I was dinning at someone's home. (John Coltrane was playing in the background)I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, and a garlic green beans with cornbread. The carrots were the best I ever tasted. Everyone in our party of 8 who had leftovers took it with them. Ask the owners about the back story of how they moved from Mississippi to Tokyo. I love this place and this will be on my recommendation list for everyone I encounter who is traveling to Japan. If you're lucky, there is an "open mic" session upstairs. The musical artist played piano and sang. The comedian was funny. It was an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
When i saw that there was a soul food restaurant in Tokyo, I thought I have to give it a try. I mean why not. This gem of a restaurant is so easy to get to and is a few minute walk from the metro station. Cane here with a party of 8 and we had a great time. We met the owners who were lovely and amazing. Our servers were attentive. Food was good and the drinks were amazing.

Jordyn T.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place given all the rave reviews but unfortunately I left feeling not too welcomed and unsatisfied with the food. I got the ribs and mac and cheese and the flavor was unfortunately not to my liking. Maybe the other items on the menu are better! My seat they assigned to me was also dirty and some snark comments were made that made me feel like I was bothering the main staff guy who checked me in - all other staff seemed to be okay. Majorly disappointed and would just caution your expectations if you decide to go.

Dave C.

Yelp
Food is not good or authentic and r the place is run down, toilet is filthy. Was decent a few years ago. Seems to have gone downhill. No value for money. Maybe we were unlucky.

Yelp
My partner and I went to this place with high hopes, but left rather disappointed. We had an 8:00pm reservation, and got there a little early and the restaurant was slammed so we were invited by the staff to go upstairs to the lounge owned by the same people on the 9th floor. We had a drink and went back down to the restaurant when we noticed "Cash or CashApp only," which I thought was strange since CashApp isn't used in Japan. Also, the sign on the restaurant says they take credit cards and they definitely had credit card machines (I later overheard a staff member explaining to another customer that they have had issues with credit card processing but that it 'should be fixed soon'). We ordered and then we waited, and waited, and waited. It took an hour and twenty minutes to get our food. We ordered the cat fish appetizer, I ordered the Nashville hot chicken, and my partner had the country fried chicken. Both the mains come with mashed potatoes and an additional side. The Catfish appetizer was freshly fried and nice and crispy but honestly didn't taste that different than fish and chips and I felt that the batter lacked flavor (some spice would have been great). The mashed potatoes were definitely not the best I had, and overall both my partner and I felt that the chicken we had in our main dishes was good, but nothing to write home about. It also took three tries to get a refill on beer. While the staff were nice, they were overwhelmed and not super attentive. The restaurant suffers from a lack of organization and management. I would probably go back, but I would have to really be craving some fried chicken before I would bother with the stress of trying to eat here again. I will also add that we made our reservation online a week in advance online and it didn't get confirmed until two days before... I noticed the restaurant having to turn people away because they thought they had made a reservation, but it was never confirmed which the customers didn't understand and then subsequently had be turned away. If you are really craving Soul Food then give this place a try if you have a lot of patience, but if you're someone who has limited patience for disfunction then perhaps save your craving for the next time you're in the U.S.

Yelp
So good! Ribs were perfect! Finger lickin good! They even made my Arnold Palmer fresh! My southern heart is more than content!

Abena O.

Yelp
Food was great. The cornbread is actually to die for! Would fully recommend this place.

Theron S.

Yelp
Well what can I say? I ordered the garlic shrimp for starters but they were out. Disappointed but not really. Switch to Buffalo bites. They were good. Ordered the Long Island iced tea. Pretty good. My main meal was the fried catfish w/ cornbread salad and Mac and cheese. The dish was just like back home in (USA) for the most part. Oh the Mac and cheese was cheesy cheesy. To go I ordered the garlic green beans another slice of cornbread. I'm here for lunch and I know later on around 9p I will be hungry again. All in all a pretty good experience especially to find a black owned business all the way and Japan. I had to support. The service was prompt and it is a quaint spot. Need more tables/room but I understand. They are definitely making it do what it do.

Yelp
Was so excited to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Praying for continued success. I had the man n cheese with chicken and waffles. Yum!
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant doesn't disappoint!! I had the country fried chicken and gravy. The gravy was everything. My husband makes the best mac n cheese in the world so I can't give them this title but theirs was top tier!
google avatar

Marquett K.

Yelp
The food was ok. My son ordered Mac and cheese with the spicy chicken nachos. I ordered the catfish with sweet carrots. I was disappointed with the cornbread. The service was impeccable. I loved how the owner conversed with everyone in the venue. The waiter was polite and efficient. The food came out in a timely manner. Although, we were a large group. The space and wait staff were accommodating. The ambiance was ok. I liked that there was a rooftop for mingling and cocktails.

Ivan L.

Yelp
The food was authentic south US SoulFood. My family had no complaints only praises. Every dish was delicious. We enjoyed it very much. Will be back again when we return to Tokyo.
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
I was not expecting a Soul Food restaurant in Tokyo but hey there it was, and the food was good. I ordered the country fried chicken platter with greens and I enjoyed it. The only downside was my cornbread was cold and that was disappointing because I love me some cornbread. The staff were and attentive as we were a large group who were in town for the Tokyo Marathon!
google avatar

Samantha P.

Yelp
I love love everything about this restaurant, this is my 2nd home. From amazing staff to fabulous drinks and food, the portions are massive yet can't seem to stop eating till my plate is cleaned out Highly recommend anyone in Tokyo to visit but please please make reservations it's quite popular.

Cleodis M.

Yelp
Love this place!! The food is amazing!! Get here if you can!! The cornbread, Mac and cheese, and fried okra are life!!! :-)

Yelp
The Hot Chicken is not a game! That will have you sweating beads of joy. I am in love. By far some of the best dining out experience ive experienced. Soul Food is a hidden gem that was recommended to us by a friend in the states, and we were not disappointed. I ordered the Hot Chicken & Waffles. The heat swirling around with the sweetness bnb is one ill never forget to say the least. My family laughed at me the makority of the meal, because it was spicy enough to make me cry...ill probably still shed a few tears once we leave lol. The environment is warm & relaxed as the soft soulful music plays in the background. HIGHLY RECOMMEND & a must go

T W.

Yelp
Need a reservation to dine in although "walk ins are welcome" No take out available Didn't even attempt to accommodate but did offer an apology.

Yelp
A go to place if you're craving or simply just a lover of a decent waffle and chicken in a truly western vibe. Literally,I feel lucky for being just few steps away from this place. The thought of the crispy, fluffy waffle with chicken tenders and maple syrup (which I find not too sweet for my liking) makes me drool every time. I know it might be just your typical (or for some average) American comfort food but for me, that's what makes it perfect. The gumbo is such a delish, when you're used of big servings, this might look as a small plate but I tell you, the serving is just enough for you to be filled. The bread pudding is a sweet surprise, first bite and it brings childhood memories plus suddenly I was reminded on how much I truly missed eating a decent pudding. Btw, expect that serving of your food takes time plus expect that the place can really be fully packed, so I suggest you so reservation if you can.

Yelp
[As of January 27] When you hear the words "soul food," all you can think of is down-South, good eats. My wonderful wife suggested this restaurant to feed our southern cravings. Stepping out of the elevator into customers told me that this was the place you needed to be. Unfortunately, it is a bit cramped due to the small entry leading into the restaurant's dining area. It can get a bit suffocating when many people are waiting to be served. Good thing we made a reservation in advance! Once we were seated, we took a look at the drinks, appetizers, and meals that had to offer. The wife ordered the Mint Julep b/c she loves her some Golden Girls. To fill her belly, she asked for the Pork Sliders . For me, I ordered the Country Fried Chicken and just had some water to wash it down. The chicken had a nice balance of crispy and juicy. The mash potatoes were on point. The black-eyed peas were a bit watery for my taste. The last piece on the plate was the well done cornbread. Now that I think about, I should have asked for honey to top it off. Smh A cool thing we found out, that they have a small secret menu! It includes my favorite food of all time: hushpuppies! But you gotta dine here to find out to eat these secret items! fin.

Yelp
A bit hard to find since it's located on the sixth floor of a building, so keep your eyes peeled for a sign. Came as soon as it opened so luckily we were able to grab a seat and get our food served quickly. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I was expecting more of a crunchy waffle, but instead was met with a more soft texture. Nevertheless, the waffle paired nicely with the juicy chicken and maple syrup. It will definitely fill you up! I had a bite of my boyfriend's hot chicken slider and man, my tongue was lit on fire! Nevertheless, if you can handle the heat, I recommend ordering the hot chicken! Their mac and cheese is a small proportion, but definitely worth it. It oozes with cheese and gives you the taste of home. The waiter and owner were very courteous and made the visit enjoyable. Another plus about this place is the gorgeous view of the Tokyo skyline from its many windows. A must stop in Tokyo especially if you are craving real soul food! A bit on the pricy side, but worth it. You can pay with cash and card and you can also make reservations on their website.

Yelp
Came here after watching Ugly Delicious and was not disappointed. The owners are as warm and welcoming as they are on the show. They're friendly and helpful and make the restaurant feel like home. Southern hospitality at its finest! I have a high spice tolerance and the Hot Chicken was very manageable for me, especially since I ordered sweet tea (which I'd recommend if you don't mind that it's expensive). It's definitely spicy and not for everyone, but if you do want a bit of kick there's a buffalo chicken option. The chicken tenders were so flavorful and juicy and the waffle was nice and crispy on the outside with a fluffy interior. Also, do not sleep on that side veggie soup - it is really good. I think next time I could go without the mac n' cheese because it ended up being too heavy for me, but it's nice to share with a group. Such a great dining experience all around; can't wait to come back and try something new!

Yelp
Good honest food from a genuine American from the south that lives in Japan. The fried chicken (many types) is Hand made American style using flour which is nice to have instead of only Japanese karaage style. I've been here three times now and each time is a good experience. There are guitars and a digital piano in the dining area and they let people play in addition to having staff (or the owners wife) play. Owner makes a large list of cocktails and many are unique to the owner, even have Koop Aid (mix with vodka or Shochu) which is one of a kind. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Never would I have thought that I would find SOUL FOOD in Japan! And not just any soul food - real, good, homestyle soul food. I was staying with some American friends in Tokyo, and they told me that we HAD to go to Soul Food House for dinner one night, and I'm so happy that we did. If you're from out of town like me, the place might be kind of hard to find, but Google Maps works wonders. Soul Food House is located near the Azabujuban station in Minato city in Tokyo. The decor is trendy, and the service is on point. The wife is the head chef, and she cooks up some delicious food. The husband does the entertainment (sometimes live music). We had dinner at Soul Food House on a Tuesday evening, so it was just us and a couple. No live music, but they were playing 90s R&B and motown, which speak to my soul. Now for the food - AMAZING! My buddy is from New Orleans, so he told me I had to try the seafood gumbo, and it was SO GOOD! The soup was deep and savory, and there were big chunks of sausage and even crab legs in the gumbo. I also had a cheese steak sandwich, which had hearty pieces of steak covered in cheese and grilled onions and bell peppers. It came with tomato slices and lettuce, which I don't think are typical for a cheese steak sandwich, but they added a great fresh element to the dish. I wish I could go back to Soul Food House this week for more of their great food, but sadly I'm thousands of miles away. I'll have to wait til my next trip to Tokyo.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great service. I had buffalo waffle and chicken and my friend had the normal waffle and chicken. We also had sliders and garlic shrimp that came with garlic toast. The waffles and chicken were so good and we enjoyed it a lot. The garlic shrimp was fine but to our tastebuds, had a little bit more alcohol taste than we liked.. but that's probably just because we don't drink wine. It's a bit pricey but I don't know where else you could get authentic waffles and chicken from in Tokyo.

Yelp
I've eaten here many times. Soul Food House offers a glimpse into southern hospitality in japan. The food is delicious. The I ordered cat fish, shrimp and grits. The grits are very tasty.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and tasty Southern foods!! I ordered Country fried chicken and gravy and small portion Mac and cheese were so good. I will be back soon definitely!!

Yelp
I arrived to Haneda last night, and my first stop is Soul Food House @148! I literally came straight from the hotel to this place, I've done no sight seeing. I'm ready to eat! For those not from Tokyo, take the Oedo line to Azabujuban station and then take exit 7. From exit 7, you will walk straight across the street for about a quarter of a mile. You will turn right when you see the Peacock Store [it's red and vibrant, you can't miss it]. The Soul FoodHouse is right across the street in the plaza building on the 6th floor. I knew I had come to the right place, I could smell the southern comfort food from outside [yummmm] I had a reservation for 2pm, but they seated me anyway after coming a couple of hours early [hunger]. There were a few large parties there, so I do recommend making the reservation. You can reserve through their site or through Yelp. The place is small and intimate. You could come here for date night, birthday parties or after church. In fact, gospel music was playing as I dined for Sunday brunch; I felt like I was back home in my beloved Atlanta! The place was lively and vibrant during Sunday brunch, so the music was definitely an undertone to the natural atmosphere. I loved it. You have a wide variety of drink choices ranging from water to soft drinks to an array of cocktails. I had a Mint Juliep, and it was pretty good. I had a couple of them while I waited for my meal. As bad as I wanted to have one of their waffle brunch offerings, I chose the southern catfish instead. Hey, I hadn't had soul food in a long while, let alone in Tokyo! I had Mac n cheese and grits for my sides and the dish was simply divine!! They REALLY know what they're doing in here! I took a plate of buffalo wings to go; I absolutely couldn't resist, plus it was raining so I knew I wouldn't be going back out later. Whew chile! They tasted just fine warmed up. The only negative was that they're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. WOMP! I leave late Wednesday and I will for sure be back for more before heading home. This is a husband and wife establishment, and I am reallllly rooting for them to have ALL the success! Do yourself a favor and stop by the Soul Food House @148 should you find yourself in Tokyo.

Yelp
Soul Food hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for our group ....spot on! Great food, super friendly service.

Yelp
This place should be given Michelin Stars. Like NOW!!! When heard about a soul food restaurant opening in Tokyo, I got super excited! After living and leaving Texas 5+ years ago, I couldn't remember the last time I had Southern food. Got me super excited! My wish of having some deliciousness happened last weekend and Oh Boy!, it filled all inches of happiness in my soul! Super amazing! I went with 3 friends that have never had Southern food! And they too were super delighted from the food and drinks they had. I'm the type who seldom look at the menu (though, I had my mind on the ribs already! ). I asked for recommendation from our super nice server Marc and he recommended Boudin Balls. It was a special for that day. Just the smell of it got me so hypnotized! We had BBQ Pulled Pork Quesadilla and Garlic Shrimp after. Amazing! Then the RIBS were served! And I just died! It was super delicious! The cornbread was just a sprinkle of extra joy! I was quiet and just enjoying the heaven I was in! Got too happy with the food that I ordered more for everyone. We got Spicy Chicken and Waffle and I died again! My friends can't understand why there's chicken on a waffle, but all their doubts disappeared as soon as they had a bite of it. They all went to chicken and waffle heaven too! My Brit friend and I who are very guilty of gluttony, ordered MORE!! Creole Jambalaya, hand-rolled Snags, and two desserts (because civilized people would always have desserts ). We had Apple Pie and Ice Cream and one with blueberries that I don't know what's called. Fantastic food! And not to mention the restaurant itself! The place was just chill and homey. Located in Azabu Juban. Just a mix of all greatness! Told my friends about this and already planning several visits in the coming days.

Yelp
Awesome family business ... service and food were outstanding. My husband and I shared chicken and waffles, glazed ribs, bacon egg biscuit and grits! I wish this place was in Houston! Loved every bite! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Everything was perfect and delicious. I brought my family here for thanksgiving dinner. LaTonya and David are phenomenal, kind human beings and sharing a meal at their restaurant has been the highlight of our trip to Tokyo. The food is amazing! The ambience is perfect! I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Make a reservation! You won't regret it. My family is from Mississippi and even we thought the food was some of the best southern cooking! This is real Southern, SOUL food!!!

Yelp
The best non Asian food I've had in Japan. How could that be? I'm so tired of Asian food thank god for this place. Fantastic fried chicken and gravy. 10x better than KFC here.

Yelp
Amazing Soul Food in the Heart of Tokyo! These folks know how to serve up some amazing supper! When you get tired of sushi and teppan, head over to Azabujuban for some great eats. The staff is friendly and the vibe is great. It's a little hard to find, but totally worth it!

Yelp
What a find! I only have one word to describe this place....Dee-licious! Everything we ate was oishii desu. The fried pickles were light & crispy made to perfection, crispy soft shelled crab made a wonderful starter, the hot chicken & waffles packed a kick with a mixture of savory, spicy, & sweet, catfish was moist and tender, mac n cheese...omg, we had to order twice along with the flavorful, rich & creamy chicken & dumpling soup while washing it all down with a spicy Bloody Mary topped with a crunchy pickled okra. This is my new favorite brunch place and I look forward to trying everything on their menu.

Yelp
As a proud Southern girl raised on down home cooking, I thoroughly enjoyed Soul Food House. I was able to very easily make reservations on Yelp, which was great! We even took 2 friends with us. Let me say the location and the view were so very nice and fortunately we were at the table by the window. But, I'm sure it's the food you want to hear about, right? Well, the garlic shrimp were so fresh and plump that we ended up ordering more. The same thing happened with the macaroni and cheese. The buffalo wings were delicious. Be warned, they are spicy. That is often one of the charms of good Southern food. Now, on to my favorite........the soft shell crab! It was amazing. The breading on it was seasoned perfectly and not too thick. They were so meaty that I ate myself silly. We say things like that in the South, "ate myself silly." It's a part of our charm. The owners were very welcoming. With them being from Georgia and Mississippi it adds to knowing you are getting some good soul food. You must try this place! Be warned you will want to keep trying so many things that you will be overstuffed when you leave. We were and we can't wait to go back and do it all over again!
