I had the meatloaf with greens, yams, rice and gravy. For dessert, German chocolate cake. The meal was quite delicious and satisfying. I didn't finish in one sitting. The portions are generous.

Do not order the Oxtails unless you are having an absolute life or death craving for them! The regular oxtail dinner plate comes out to $36.99 plus tax and additional surges if you use your card! The plate only comes with 3 oxtails! They say that it includes rice but they only put rice on one quarter of the plate! Their Mac and cheese is sub par and it isn’t creamy or cheesy. I would say KFC has better mac and cheese. Their greens have a strange after taste and doesn’t include any smoked meat. Their yams are soft but may be too sweet for some. Their cornbread is dry and crispy and lastly their peach cobbler hardly has any crust. The cashier showed me the size of their mini dinner plate which looked like the same size of the regular plate but only includes one side for $18.99(possibly 2 oxtails). I would say just order the mini dinner plate and add a small side for $7 if necessary. Overall the oxtails tasted decent but the sides and the portions could be a lot better for the price!

Google
Amazing food and service. The oxtail is to die for. The greens are so good. Love the cornbread. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone. I'll be coming here again.

I have only been here once, but I will be going back soon! I felt welcomed.. The owner cared about my needs... Asked questions.... Friendly, and I could observe that she has a bunch of regulars!!! Which says that this food is 👍 good!. I was not disappointed. I ordered Red Snapper (fish) and Fried Shrimps with order of rice and beans 😋 Good Job!!! Right off the freeway. Easy to get to. 91 fwy off cherry exit. Recently went, and my order was wrapped tightly, so no spills on the way home. I appreciate that! Smoothed turkey wings and beef ribs Mac n cheese red beans and rice! Feed 4 people! I didn't get oxtail this time, but they are good!

Google
Had a bit of a mixed experience. The cornbread was really good, and the fish hit the spot! But the baked beans, potato salad, and cornbread dressing were way too soupy and seemed like they were swimming in grease. I was hoping to try something new, but I don’t think I’ll be going back, especially after spending $50. It was an interesting meal, just not what I was expecting.

My boyfriend and I have wanted to try this place for at least a year and we finally got around to it. There was a decent amount of seating inside and parking is sufficient enough for a Friday night. Service was decent too. I ordered the BBQ Chicken with rice and gravy, yams, baked beans, and potato salad. My boyfriend had the Hungry Man combo (smothered oxtails and smothered ribs) with rice and gravy, mac and cheese, and cornbread stuffing. Everything we ordered was pretty good, particularly the cornbread dressing (probably some of the best I've had). I could do without the rice and gravy and there were a couple items like the mac and cheese, beans, and yams that I've had better elsewhere. My boyfriend thought the oxtails and ribs were really good. All in all, it was a good place but just a bit pricey in comparison to other Soul Food places I've been to. I would come back though if I'm craving Soul Food.

Pearl Liu

Google
Good food but chicken pieces are on the all side and sometimes makes the price not justified.

Raul Galban

Google
Not the best soul food, potato salad was bought from like food 4 less or Costco rice and gravy could use salt the fried Chicken was good cornbread with a little dry the yams were off the hook Kool-Aid was on point, mac and cheese was 🔥

Yelp
Nothing can stop, Soul Food Renaissance! This hidden gem is located on the corner of Artesia and Cherry off the 91 freeway. It's a small yet charming establishment full of kindness, love and great food. This isn't your traditional place, this is like visiting your Big Mama and feeling at home. You seat yourself and there is only one menu that hangs on the wall. I decided to visit on a Sunday at 2:30pm with my sister and it wasn't packed at all. However, that didn't stop people from ordering ahead and coming in to pick up. This place stays cooking, and after tasting the food...I see why. The restaurant is clean, organized and welcoming. The staff is very friendly, kind and generous. Be advised, the menu has so many amazing combos and options which makes it hard to decide. Also, Sundays are dinner portions only, so don't come looking for lunchtime specials. After staring at the menu for 10min or more I finally decided to get the fried chicken dinner with Mac and cheese and fries as my side. My sister ordered the turkey chops with cabbage and yams as her side. My fried chicken was heaven sent. The crunch, the flavor and juiciness of the chicken had me dancing in my seat. You also get rice and gravy and the gravy had me going crazy(in a good way) I legit wanted to ask for a side of gravy just to dip my chicken in. Be aware, the gravy can be addictive. The macaroni and cheese were creamy, seasoned, and baked with love. My sis loved her turkey chops and her sides as well. This is a place where you know from One meal, that everything they cook is A1. If you're missing your grandmas cooking or need food for the soul, stop by Soul Food Renaissance for a taste that makes you whole.

Yelp
The smothered pork chop was probably my favorite in terms of flavor, but everything else was delicious as well. The pork chop and fried chicken are savory, the collard greens are salty, macaroni cheesey, the rice with gravy has a mild spicy heat and the cornbread is sweet - so the combination of it all works well together because of the variety of flavors. The staff working there were also friendly and nice. The main reason the review got 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is a little pricey for the portion of food, the parking lot is also small and there wasn't air conditioning. They did, however, have a large fan blowing and provided us a pitcher of ice water... which helped out alot. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant, but I would imagine people probably take food to-go partially due to those reasons. If you are extra hungry, I might recommend maybe going for the hungry man portions. Our mini dinners, however, were sufficiently filling without any leftovers.

Yelp
This food is so delicious every single time I go. They make the best dressing ever. The food is always fresh and served with a smile. Very well seasoned and made with SOUL.

Yelp
I ordered a Turkey wing dinner and I have this big, dry drumstick!! I thought a wing was a wing? How is it a turkey wing dinner with no wings?? The. I called at 1pm and was told 20 minutes. I show up at 1:25 and my order was not even placed. Why did I leave at 2:12pm? Meanwhile people were coming in ordering and getting their food before me and the orders were larger! They weren't call in orders either. They didn't offer NOTHING for my inconvenience and long wait not even water. So I finally said something playfully and I was offered grape koolaid basically. Ok. Good to know I'm not valued as a Customer. The collars greens were way too salty and whoever cleaned them did not do a good job... smh This used to be THE SPOT.

Yelp
I wish Yelp will start having an option for 1/2 stars! This place was recommended my my MIL to my husband for us to try. So we indulged. When I searched Yelp, I see it has 3 1/2 stars, so that was a concern for me; but I stayed open. We ordered 3 meals: Smothered Turkey Chops, Shrimp, Beef Links. Our sides included greens, yams, string beans; plus the peach cobbler. My husband enjoyed his Turkey chops, rice n gravy/string beans. My son said he links were "aiight" not sure why he was given potato salad (he doesn't like it); but the gravy spilled on to the potato salad, he ate the greens. I had shrimp w/yams/greens. The shrimp was decent, I liked that it was 12 pieces. Unfortunately, I really didn't eat anything else. I wasn't a fan of the yams. They weren't nasty; but something was off. The greens were way too leafy and maybe needed to be cut up more. My husband said the lady was really nice and since they were almost out of the peach cobbler, she gave him a larger portion from what he ordered. My biggest issue was the packaging of the food. I would recommend putting the sides in a small container. As I said the gravy ran over in the potato salad. My yams ran over into my greens. The shrimp was on top of foil that sat on top of the sides...it was odd. It was in the evening so idk if this is the norm or if they ran out of containers. The cornbread was wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, so much so the cornbread tastes like the plastic wrap... It's located next to a gas station so you have to pay attention and he recommended going through the gas station. I would probably return b/c my husband really enjoyed his. It's not horrible as som of the reviews said; but definitely mid level soul food.

Yelp
Over Priced and Over Cooked! I paid $50 for Oxtails and a slice of Sweet potato pie. The Oxtails were indistinguishable and had no flavor. I've been eating Oxtails all my life, and what they served me was NOT Oxtails. It was more like Oxtail gravy on top of rice. The Oxtails had to have been simmering in water for at least two days. Some places show you your food before you leave, but they securely wrap it up and send you on your way. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they wrap it like that for sanitary deliveries. I haven't had any of their other overpriced dishes, so maybe they can redeem themselves with those. Next time I crave Oxtails, I will not be going there! Anyone who gives a good review on their Oxtails is someone who has never had REAL Oxtails, homemade or Jamaican, in their life!

Yelp
Went in with my family on 7/26/24 and let me tell you the food is so Damn good! So good you'll wanna smack your Mama, your Daddy and your baldheaded, Granny. Order chicken ,Mac n cheese, French fries , Ox tail, fried catfish n shrimp, rice chili beans, green beans and corn bread. I'll tell you what Bobby Hill if you don't bring your ass here at least once in your life , you'll die with never Experiencing the true joy of life . We went up to the counter and was greeted by a friendly cashier sweetheart truly. Above and beyond service. You'll have to be a lil patient because food is freshly made and worth the wait. Can't wait till I return... I dream about the food since I ate it . Only thing is no AC other then that place was very clean. P.s if your a cheap ass and don't want to pay for Quality food keep your ass at home Teeee Heee ;)

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place. My family and I with some friends stopped here after arriving in L.A. for a bit of a vacation. We came here looking for some real soul food as we've had some of the best in the nation. Unfortunately, it was not. The fried shrimp, Mac n cheese, rice and gravy, and even the fries all had one taste over it all- black pepper. EVERYTHING tasted of black pepper. There was no full bodied flavor and there wasn't anything really harkening back to the south or soul food. Just a disappointment. Especially considering the service was impeccable. The ladies working the place were so kind and so giving. The restaurant was also super clean. Just wish the food matched the impeccable service.

Yelp
I mean, pic says it all! I had smothered chicken and rice with Mac n cheese and collard greens! First timer and they did not disappoint!! Had lunch with family and friends and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The kool aid and sweet tea are really good! Not watery and it tastes like I remember it from childhood. The lady in the front is really sweet! We came on a Friday afternoon and found parking, and plenty of tables to sit at. I love that they didn't fill up our cups with ice

Yelp
The quality for the quantity and price Lost me. The food is highly over priced and and skimpy .. there are no rice under the oxtails they give you one corner portion of rice .. skimpy and over priced sides .. 7$ for a microscopic size small is a rip off .. it was almost a 100$ for 2 ppl for a taste of experience. Taste of the oxtails is Okay but far from real soul food I'm used too. Mac & cheese don't require pepper but somehow they pepper Mac n cheese I believe a customer should have the option to add pepper too they're Mac n cheese .. u can see the size of Mac n cheese in the picture I uploaded below and tell me if 7$ is right. I could went to hibachi grill cheese cake factory and tipped the chef for less then what I paid and got here.. I feel ripped off that's unbelievable... only thing I'm satisfied in is there customer service. For all that money spent I asked for ice water to go they gave me dr office water cups no lid wit 3 ice cubes Money spent.. this place is ripping people off.. but I guess they price has a lot to deal with keeping poor riff rafs out .. will not be returning. Not to mention they gave to pill size corn muffins that was priced 90 cents each...

Yelp
I can't believe that these people are taking people's money for this!! This is the worst soul food place I have ever seen in my life. I will never ever return. I just got this food Sunday December 3rd 2023 and I ordered it through doordash. Doordash is not the problem it's the people in these restaurants just give you any f****** thing cuz you are ordering online.

Chanell B.

Yelp
Good food. The fish combo is pretty good and the mac is good. Black eyed peas good. Rice and gravy okay rice could be a lil better but everything else delicious.
google avatar

Anthony D.

Yelp
This restaurant has the best mac and cheese. All of the food is good, the only problem is that they are to expensive.
google avatar

LaTanya M.

Yelp
The food delicious . This was the first time ordering soul food from here and very impressed with the quality, quantity, ambience, great staff. I know my spouse was hard to pleased asking all types of questions .. smh! But she did very well and was very calm natured with his strong natured self. Thank you..I recommend

Yelp
Friendly staff. The lot they are in is small so there may not be parking. I got oxtails, candied yams, a piece of cornbread, and greens. The cornbread although good was over baked so i could only eat the top half. The rest of the food is delicious although the serving of oxtails and rice were small for the meal to be $40, yet the flavor almost makes up for it. The service was very kind and friendly, not too many employees there so please wait your turn. My oxtails werent too fatty and definitely had flavor. I would try again but get a different meat due to portion size of the oxtails.

Nikki L.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! I lived in New Orleans for a year and have been trying to find soul food that compares and this is IT I got fried shrimp, Mac & cheese, and sweet yams. All insanely good. Food took 20 minutes. So worth it. The staff was very kind. Definitely coming back!!

Yelp
Hi, My best friend and I have this thing about we go and find a place to eat and we love to go right when the place open when everything is fresh. I just moved to Long Beach and I'm trying to go to places in my area we found soul food Renaissance southern food. This food here on Artesia and Cherry Avenue is some of the best soul food I've ever had in my life and I'm a cook myself my God, the turkey chops, smothered, and gravy oxtails macaronI and cheese everything and they give you an abundance of it. No one turkey chop. You get two turkey chops not two oxtails you get about five everything was so great. The owner Miss Rita and her goddaughters back there cooking Monique they have the most greatest and the best hospitality you would ever want to have. This place is truly a diamond.

Patricia T.

Yelp
If you are speeding you will miss it. It is in a strip mall. It is not heavy on ambiance but it is pleasant. The food more than makes up for it. We were a group of ten. We met on Sunday to break bread together. We have a few picky people. I am so happy to report every one was extremely pleased with their selection. No complaints Only compliments. We will return separately as well as a group.

Yelp

Yelp
We were craving some barbecue and wanted to support black-owned businesses. Lucky for us this popped up. Here was our experience on a Sunday afternoon. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking with limited parking - 10 cars about. Seating: There is seating but with COVID-19 there are restrictions (maybe about 20 people). As of right now, Feels: Not your touristy side of LB just a good spot close to a freeway and gas station. The spot itself is an intimate spot with good R&B music. Seems like a good hidden gem but the food seems like a lowkey spot to feed your family or go on a food adventure. FOOD: Beef Rib Tips (Recommend) Yesss. Juicy, sweet, and flavorful. You know what it is. Red Bean and Rice (Recommend) Yum. The beans give it some flavor and a mix of texture. Fried Chicken (Recommend) Delicious! A reasonable crunch and some good spice to make it flavorful from the skin to the white meat. Catfish (Recommend) Small yet flavorful bites. It has a good crunch and cooked well, not to dry! Add some hot sauce and tarter sauce and you're good to go! Mac & Cheese (Recommend) Excellent! This passes the test of not being too watery. It's creamy, rich, savory, and cheesy. Potato Salad (Recommend) Great! Nothing too special but it gets the job done. A cold and comforting taste to help simmer down the sweet and spice. Cornbread (Recommend) Solid. Good steady and dry savory flavor to neutralize tastes while being fulfilling. Be sure to add your butter, sugar, or honey. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Excellent. I appreciate their hustle as they were trying to accommodate everyone. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. I dig it. It's not your fast food bbq spot. A local flavor at a reasonable price and great selections. For a taste of Long Beach, look no further! This is your spot. TIPS: * Order online and be patient on the wait

Yelp
My bookclub decided to go here for lunch and our monthly meeting. The seating area was closed, but they allowed us to sit anyway. This was the best soul food we had eaten in a while. Everything tasted home made and felt like you were eating at Grandma's. Fried chicken, fried fish, yams, greens, cabbage, dressing were all excellent. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place on the way to wing stop, decided to try them out.. DEFINITELY A BETTER CHOICE Good customer service, extensive menu, quick service. What I like is they secured my food in saran wrap, very considerate because nothing leaked in the bag, very well thought out. I got a hot link lunch (spicy link; delicious) with green bean, Mac, rice & beans. Large portions, didn't finish all in one sitting. The mac has great flavor, not overly cheesy which I like. It came w/ rice & gravy.. gravy had an interesting flavor, unique wasn't my favorite but my parents liked it. Green beans ARE GOOD, seasoned well, great texture! I got 2 slices of lemon pound cake (haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it's a winner) will eat again, definitely recommend

Yelp
I live in Orange County and when I am craving soul food but I don't feel like cooking, I can usually find some good options in Long Beach. I really love the coconut cake from Soul Food Renaissance because it reminds me of the coconut cake my great-grandmother made, so I decided to order a cake for Thanksgiving. I bragged about the cake to my family and friends, so imagine my disappointment when I bit into it and it was hard and dry! $88.00 and it tasted NOTHING like the slices I have been buying from them for a while! I think they made the cake last week and froze or refrigerated it because they didn't have enough staff to make fresh cakes, but that is UNACCEPTABLE! This was a complete waste of my hard-earned money! HORRIBLE! Stale and dry! Never again! I definitely got beat over the head. I was so embarrassed because the way I bragged about their cakes.
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best tasting pineapple coconut cake. My stepmother said the oxtails were extremely tender and good.

Yelp
My fiancée and I have been hunting for a decent soul food restaurant in the Long Beach/Carson area and it had gone stale after trying a few spots and being unhappy. We hadn't tried this one and we're driving in the area and said "Eh. Why not?" Parking sucks, but whatever. If the food is good, I can easily look past that. The restaurant wasn't busy so we were happy about that. There was a table blocking the door & no one had immediately greeted us so we waited before an older woman told us to move the table and come in. The table seemed pointless. We ordered one oxtail plate and a short rib plate and waited about 15 minutes. The service was good and they were busy with phone orders and had plenty of tickets. That's a good sign to me. The food was absolutely delicious. The oxtails and short ribs were lightly trimmed like I like it. The stuffing was really good and the gravy set it off perfectly. Macaroni and cheese is normally bland at all of these restaurants, but I wasn't totally unimpressed with theirs like I am with others. The peach cobbler was delicious. We will be returning to try other menu items.
google avatar

Sonya L.

Yelp
Did an order through grub hub. Went to pick up order and grub hub ordered pork chops and turkey chops. I was about to call and complain and realized that on the order menu they were right near each other so I chalked it up to I could've mistakenly hit the wrong one. The lady says I guarantee that you'll like the turkey chops. So i get home and shower. My husband tells me after i get out the shower that that turkey leg was dry and I didn't even try the wing Wait what its suppose to a turkey chop and pork chop. She straight Lied and knowingly gave me the wrong stuff. Well they lost a loyal customer.
google avatar

Nina B.

Yelp
The food is a hit every time. The catfish is fried perfect and seasoned to perfection. I love the greens I finish all of my food and looking for seconds
google avatar

Lori H.

Yelp
Food is delicious! I ordered the oxtails with rice and gravy and a side of yams. I was looking forward to the Mac n cheese but I mistakenly selected the macaroni salad, which I do not eat. As for service, I received everything that I ordered. Even got some peach cobbler and red velvet cake (cobbler for my daughter and red velvet for me. Yum! (As my grandson says).

Yvonne G.

Yelp
Just had for dinner... Delicious! We are from San Bernardino my husband went to pick up food there hopefully they open up something here in inland empire!

Russell W.

Yelp
Nice place to eat soul food. The staff is friendly and the food is awesome . I was raised and grew up in South Carolina eating at this restaurant brings back memories of family reunion and cook outs.
google avatar

Thary M.

Yelp
Soul Food Renaissance catered lunch for our office of 115 people today. The food was delicious!!! Even some of our picky eaters gave us their approvals. I've worked with Sherry and Rita who were extremely professional and friendly. The food was ready for pick up before our designed time and they were efficicent with loading the food in my car. We ordered fried chicken, yams, greens, green beans, black eye peas and muffin. Everything tasted delicious and seasoned very well. My staff was over the moon about the food. Please book them for your next event, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Kristina C.

Yelp
Super torn on this place. Portions were great but it was a mixed bag. Beef oxtails were shredded in a gravy, kinda missed the mark. The mac & cheese was ok but dry and not cheesy. Spicy bbq chicken was great! Definitely the star. Collard greens were lacking serious flavor unfortunately bc that's what I was looking forward to most. Yams were great texture and sweet but had an off aftertaste. Banana pudding was great!

Doreen V.

Yelp
Hidden GEM! STEADY stream of customers is always a GOOD sign! Excellent customer service. The nice lady from CPT who is the chef and also the host at register izzz THE G.O.A.T! We both had oxtails smothered-gravy had good flavor+meat tender, mac n chz very tasty, good greens with no pork, moist n' delicious cornbread dressing was great! Dinner came with one "Jiffy" mix tasting muffin & some hot sauce. Somebody put they entire foot in the pots and it came out delicious! We will be BACK. I was just looking at their Yelp profile, here's it is: Check out Soul Food Renaissance

Yelp
Omg!! That was BOMB!! And the customer service is Superb!! Everything we had was so flavorful. Reminded me of the childhood!! Defiantly going back even if it is a drive!! Lol I would have taken a picture but I was way to busy eating

Gracey F.

Yelp
so good & the staff has the best hospitality!! definitely recommend food is immaculate definitely coming back 10000/10 !!!! thank you guys!!

Monique G.

Yelp
Omg!!!! Horrible. I was warned but, always love to try things for myself. A total waste of my money. Took one bit and almost cried because in the trash it went. All I can honestly say is try it at your own risk but if you do not want no misunderstanding, to be upset, waste your money 1mile down the street is R Kitchen and I promise you will not be disappointed. R KITCHEN is closed on Tuesday. I went here because of this reason. For an elderly man who wanted soul food urgently and damn I had to Uber Eat him something different. My dog didn't want to even lay next to it. Horrible, just simply horrible. Woke up thinking about how nasty the entire meal was. To top it off, expensive for alittle 9f nothing. Much cheaper at R KITCHEN and plenty of food to share. Thinking I almost got gravy I probably would've died.

Maila F.

Yelp
Originally when I looked up this restaurant the pricing online said 19.25 for oxtails. When I got to the restaurant to pay for my two plates it came out almost 80. I would not have cared to pay the price had the food been good. The green beans were canned. The rice is the Minute rice. If you're going to hike up your prices on your food make sure the quality of the food matches the price! Shut this place down!
google avatar

Betty B.

Yelp
Yummy, yummy for my tummy that wrecks my fasting This place is soooooo good. Everything is made to order and is fresh. I love....love....love the chocolate cake and smothered steak with mash, collards and Mac. I'm drooling just writing this review. Everyone is so sweet as the tea they serve. Don't come here if you have a thing against good food. Will definitely be a regular.
google avatar

Jannine N.

Yelp
I drove from Inglewood!!!! Portions are small compared to other soul food places. I ordered a mini lunch and a full dinner. Both had the same small portions. And WHY in the world would you put potatoe salad. Runny potato salad at that! In the same container with the hot food then wrap it all in plastic. I didn't order hot mashed potatoes I ORDERED cold potato salad. The other reviewers were right about the dry macaroni. I had alot of just boiled macaroni. I wanted to eat it hot so I pulled in the McDonald's parking lot. Good thing I did. I needed salt and pepper for everything. Smh well i tried to support this black business but Dulans is #1 in taste, price amd and portions. The short ribs were boney but tasteful Everything else went to the dogs. Sorry yall Not happy $37 and 1hour later! Smh.. what a waste.

Armelia P.

Yelp
Me and my family went to eat here last Sunday, they are very nice and have good customer service, they give you big portions from the drink to the food, the only thing I would say is the rice and gravy could be more tastier, and the cornbread could be a bigger portion.
google avatar

Yelp
I had been craving good soul food for awhile. The best soul food I can get is in LA but since Covid I haven't been in LA much. Coming across a good soul food place in Lakewood/Bellflower/Long Beach is hard. I was cruising door dash & came across this place. I hadn't heard of it before so I went to Yelp. Good amount of stars & reviews had me feeling iffy but I was still willing to try. I ordered the smothered turkey chops with Mac n cheese & yams. It came with rice & gravy & cornbread & I ordered an extra side of cabbage. I also ordered a slice of coconut cake & a large passion tea. As I was waiting on my food my best friend told me she'd tried this place & it was meh. So again I'm nervous it isn't going to be good. The food came & it was delicious! The turkey chops with the rice & gravy was the best part. It was sooo good. The yams were good & perfectly sweet. The Mac n cheese wasn't the best but it wasn't bad either. Excellent Mac n cheese is usually hard to come by so the fact that it was good was a plus. I agree with other yelpers that there could've been more cheese. The noodles seemed dry, however when reheated my leftovers the next day, that seemed to melt the cheese on them more & they seemed more cheesy the 2nd day. The cabbage was ok but nothing I'd rave about. Cornbread was regular. The coconut cake was good & moist. Also it was a big slice which I was thankful for as it was $5 a slice. The passion tea was good but almost too sweet. Tasted similar to when I used to buy the can mix of ice tea that you just mix with water & sugar. Overall this place was pretty good & I'm happy I still decided to order. Compared to the soul food options I have near me, this place is a hidden gem. I will be ordering again & next I want to try their fried fish & peach cobbler.

Yelp
I had such an amazing experience with this amazing restaurant! Due to Covid, I ordered via GrubHub/Seamless! I ordered the fried chicken plate with Mac and yams, a passion-lemonade, and a slice of coconut cake. Before I even tasted my food I was impressed! I received by food completely sealed for safety! Even the drink!! I felt so comfortable eating my good, and it was still hot when I opened it! Now to the food: the fried chicken was crispy and flavorful! Cooked great. The rice and gravy was delicious. But let's talk about the Mac! So cheesy and flavorful! You can see the cheese chunks and it was awesome. The yams were seasoned and sweet and buttery! I loved it. And they gave me an extra piece of cornbread! The coconut cake was moist and perfectly sweet. The passion lemonade tasted like Koolaid and I was in heaven. Everything was delicious! I have eaten over 15 soul food spots in LA county and this place is top 3 so far. If you're in or around LA/LBC, stop by!

Yelp
It was just ok. I was too lazy to cook and a friend of my suggested this place for some soul food. The thing is soul food is either really good or really bad. There's not a lot of good soul food restaurants in our area. The bbq brisket was tender and flavorful but the sides were not that great to us. I can cook pretty decent and my sides are way better but like I said I was lazy today. I probably won't be a returning customer. The service was fast and friendly and I guess could do in a pinch.

Yelp
This place is terrible!! I order corn and okra...got nothing but small pieces of okra and no corn. It was drowned in some kind of sweet sauce (disgusting). My oxtails was extra small and the greens was nasty and old. I've been in the past and the was good. They lost my business.

Yelp
Was driving by in unfamiliar territory when hunger struck and I found myself searching for the nearest food joint. I noticed the was place was busy with customers, in between a gas station and 91 fwy. The parking lot is small so we ended up parking at the gas station to fill up while we searched for a menu online. We decided to try the 3 pc fried chicken with mac and cheese, potato salad, extra corn bread and peach cobbler. We thought we could order at the restaurant but turns out you have to call all orders in. Definitely call your order before heading over bc parking is limited. We waited about 25 min for our order and drove home with the wafting smell of fried chicken. The chicken was well seasoned and fried. Not oily. The chicken was a bit on the dry side but not too dry. The mac and cheese was delicious. Had the right amount of cheese and flavor, not overly cheesy. Just perfect. The potato salad was yummy and the peach cobbler was different in a good way. Not overly sweet. I am not a fan of rice so I wasn't into the rice and gravy but enjoyed the hot sauce provided. All in all it was a great meal. Left me feeling full and satisfied. I am looking forward to coming back and trying out other menu items.

Yelp
I've received Mac and cheese with barely any cheese in it just tasted like eggs and noodles I'm so disappointed because this is the second time and the first time I thought because it was late and they was closing so I let it slide but this time I came early so now I know this was no mistake I couldn't even enjoy my food with this lack of cheese in my Mac like what is Mac and cheese with no cheese so sad please do better because other than that I actually enjoy this restaurant but I really think you should fix y'all Mac and cheese recipe or make it right but this is unacceptable
