I had an amazing experience at Soul Goode — everything was so delicious! The food was full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with love. You can really taste the soul in every bite. The portions were generous, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was just as great as the food. If you’re looking for real comfort food that hits the spot every time, Soul Goode is definitely the place to go. I’ll be back for sure!

Fried Green Tomatoes were Perfect! Fried catfish and fries great too. White iced pound cake was also delicious. Food was superb. It's too bad they don't have silverware or a drink machine and normal size cups/glasses. The B rating for cleanliness was not great, but didn't scare us off. The food was really good and worth it.

I have been coming to Soul Goode for a few years and I feel like I had to write a review. Every meal that I have had from here has been great. I recently had the fried catfish nuggets and they are seasoned and fried to perfection, plus the portion size was amazing. The cabbage is also an excellent choice, well seasoned.

The young lady at the counter wasn’t the friendliest and barely said 2 words. Mac does need some work. It was dry and needs a little salt/pepper. The yams were PERFECT! The wings were okay, no flavor without hot sauce. I don’t believe I would return, but maybe it was just a bad day.

I really enjoy their sides! The Mac and cheese is my go to when I don’t want to make it myself. Yams, cabbage, and green beans are all good. Potato salad is okay, doable. I’ve had the salmon bites and they’re good and my little sister had the shrimp and enjoyed it. Their cornbread tastes like cake, it’s so good! I have tried their chicken wings on two different occasions and both times I was not a fan. It tastes like the grease is old. I’ll be back but definitely not for their chicken wings.

If you are looking for incredible flavor, a great atmosphere, and outstanding service Soul Goode is the place to be. I initially had their lunch and couldn’t help but come back. Soul Goode is a must try! Today 6/19 we scheduled a catering event with Soul Goode and they more than delivered. Their services were punctual and the food was incredible! My CarMax team absolutely raved about the great food and unparalleled service. Thank you all again for making today a success. I look forward to doing business in the future.

As a Chicago native, I can honestly say, the food definitely tasted like home. The fried catfish was fried and seasoned well. The macaroni and cheese was yummy and the yams were delicious. They threw in a piece of cornbread. It was sweet and soft with a cake like consistency. The ladies were friendly and open. It was a great experience. I will be back.

The first time I stopped by they had just run out of chicken, so I decided to come back another day. The second time, I came in after work one evening to grab something quick and delicious. I can say that Soul Goode delivered on both counts! The ambiance was comforting and laid back. I had a few questions about the menu and the staff was helpful. The restaurant was quiet and empty when I arrived, however soon after I ordered business started picking up. I ordered two dinners. The first one was the Fried Yard Bird with Green Beans and fried okra. The second plate was the Smothered Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Yams. I enjoyed both types of chicken but will give the edge to the fried yard bird. It was fried just right and gave me the feeling of a home cooked skillet of fried chicken. I could almost smell my mom’s kitchen when I opened the to go box. The green beans and fried okra didn’t disappoint. The cornbread was on point! That was the best cornbread I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. It tasted and felt freshly made. The mashed potatoes were great. The yams were so good! They are a must try! Overall I devoured everything I ordered at Soul Goode. This has to be the best soul food restaurant I’ve tried in Pearland so far. This southern comfort food reminds me of something my mom would have made back home. I’ll definitely be back here for that home cooking style. Looking forward to trying the Fish, Pork Chop, Fried Green Tomatoes and Banana Pudding next time.

I'm from out of town and thought I'd try some soul food while visiting the Houston area. Based on the reviews, I was expecting good food--but unfortunately, it was the opposite. The mac & cheese had no flavor at all (honestly, boxed Kraft tastes better), and the yams tasted straight out of a can. The catfish was the biggest disappointment--bland, with a strong fishy taste. Overall, this was probably the worst soul food I've ever had. I couldn't even finish my meal and ended up throwing it away.

Pretty good food. My food was piping hot. Yay! The portions are good. Decent pricing. I ordered the yard bird meal. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. I will definitely return.

My wife had a hankering for shrimp and we wanted to try a new place...new to us....they've been open 2 years at this brick and mortar location and they have a few food trucks. The Monday thru Friday lunch special fried shrimp and a side....wifey picked fried okra....both were tasty. I went with an Angus cheeseburger with a side of sweet tater fries....the Monday thru Friday lunch special burger can be loaded....yes please! Lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles and grilled jalapenos. The people that have this place are very nice and from Chicago and if enough people express an interest in an Italian beef sammy he'll put it on the menu. We'll be back. Being right next to a great coffee house doesn't hurt either. Of course we shared.

The food tastes good but it's on the expensive side. Service can be better. Ambiance Setting is nice.

I want to love this place--I really do. Small, humble beginnings, the kind of spot you root for, hoping it grows into something special. Had lunch, kept it simple: catfish, rice, and gravy. The catfish? Decent. The rice and gravy? A watery letdown, more soup than sauce, and not the kind that soothes the soul. Prices aren't outrageous, but they're not exactly a bargain either. Service? Attentive, engaged--a bright spot. I came in looking for a meal that would shake me to my core, something that lingers in memory. That didn't happen. But there's promise here, and I'll be back, hoping next time they bring the magic.

Food was very mid, mac&cheese was horrible,service was good though. Pork chops were bad. Did not enjoy the food at all

Pork chops are always a 10 out of 10. The lettuce they gave me for my sandwich was so wilted my wife and I threw it away. Suggestion a fresh lettuce slice and tomato slice on the side and a spread if requested. The beef tips and rice was great. Last few times I went they didn't have any. I will go back.

Amazing catfish!! I've been to both the food truck on Westheimer and the brick and mortar in Pearland. Both did not disappoint. Catfish in both locations was hot and fresh and fried just right. The sides I had were just okay. Nothing notable but decent. The service was good at the restaurant. The woman taking my order was pleasant and delightful and a pleasure to deal with. Overall I like Soul Goode and I recommend it for some great tasting comfort food.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Chile, whoever is back there cooking that food needs a raise. Now, I have several soul food places. But to be honest this place is listed as number one. I visited the Pearland Soul Goode location for some Sunday lunch. All dinner meals come with 1 protein, 2 sides, and cornbread. The pork chops were seasoned perfectly, and the yams were absolutely delicious. The collard greens could've used a bit more seasoning, but I understand they need to cater to the tastes of a mass audience. The mac n' cheese was decent not a big fan, but the cornbread was incredibly moist and tasty. I also got the strawberry Kool-Aid, and I wish I had bought another because I drank it so quickly! Overall, it was a great experience with excellent customer service.

This place is smaller, but we felt comfortable. They do bring the food and drinks to you and you must clean up after yourself.(as you should!!!) The catfish was fried to perfection, it wasn't over seasoned and it was fresh. The spaghetti was good, it had just enough sauce and the cornbread had the perfect amount of sweetness. Me and my daughter did not enjoy the macaroni, it was too cheesy. We did take the rest of our food home except the Mac. Service was great, they answered all questions. I would go back for the fish for sure.

I will say the oked jerk chicken is was 5 stars delish!!! As far as the other items we tried...decent fried seafood; I've tried the catfish, lobster and shrimp and it wasn't bad. Something was slightly off with the seasoning flavor. All sides with the exception of the cabbage is a serious carbohydrate overload situation. Super sweet Koolaide. If you get the opportunity don't walk run over to Pearlands hottest spot for soul food. As a Chicago native I was pleasantly surprised to find this place when we came across this restaurant after shopping! We learned they have a popular food truck with the same name in the galleria Food truck park (still have yet to try). This family owned eatery, was truly like being with family. We were greeted and talked to by Dawan who helped us decide on what to get and was genuinely a delight. I got the catfish, Mac and fries I know carbs! Hubby got the whiting, greens, Mac, and yams. The Auntie was so sweet who told us about cooking the food. Inside is well decorated and very clean. So many instagramable moments with selfie walls and photo ops. Our food came out hot and fresh and delicious. Hospitality was A1, and we will definitely be back. Try to leave room for dessert which are freshly made with many options from red velvet cake to banana pudding. We didn't save room, but we will be back to try one of the plethora of desserts! Make sure to stop by on Sunday where they have off menu items that you cannot get any other times! So glad to have a location nearby for our Soulfood fix.

Had been in the area working and decided it was a good time to check this place out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made me feel at home. I ordered the catfish dinner with green beans and red beans and rice. The catfish was fried a little harder than I usually like but it was seasoned to perfection! The red beans and rice and green beans were also really good. I definitely plan on going back

I'm a native Chicagoan and when I'm homesick here in Houston, I go to Soul Goode! I Love the music, love the vibe, the customer service is amazing, but most of all I love the food!! Order the lobster, spaghetti, chicken, catfish, cornbread and more your taste buds will be dancin'. Now hurry and getchu some!!

Yummm!!! The food was delicious, definitely will be back. Loved the R&B music and the atmosphere. Pork chopped was fireeee and the sides cabbage and green beans full of flavor the corn bread was fluffy def need to come out and try!

I should have been done my review! First I used to visit the food truck frequently off of Chimney Rock and Westheimer so when I heard they opened in Pearland I was thrilled. I will start by saying the spaghetti is my favorite because it taste very homemade and not plain or bland. The fried fish is also a winner. The cornbread is alllllll that! I love this place! I'm not a big banana pudding fan but both my people are raving about the banana pudding so it's on the list of goodies as well. It's clean on the inside. The staff is always friendly. There is a small wait on your order but you get it piping hot so we'll worth it. I'm a fan!! As a matter of fact I'm going back today!

First of all, I grew up on soul food. My family would cook on Sundays and eat till we were stuffed. So I know good soul food when I come across it. Soul Goode is definitely, "Goode". My family and I were in the area as we plan to move to Sienna which isn't too far away. My wife already had Soul Goode on her list of places to try. Though we were mostly impressed with the food quality, I have some suggestions on how the restaurant could improve. When we got there, there was plenty of parking. As we walked in, we could hear modern r&b music that is a perfect theme for this establishment. The playlist was great. It's self seating. There is no wait staff really and it's pretty much just random tables and chairs with condiment holders on each table. What I found impressive was the huge mural paying homage to the south side of Chicago. Being a Chicago native myself, this was automatically a plus in my book. We later found out that this is a family owned and operated restaurant and the family is from Chicago. This place is not very big but there are 2 restrooms, a service station counter for napkins, utensils etc, and a random ice cream cart. You can still sit comfortably without feeling cramped. My wife and I placed 2 different orders. She went first to order the kids chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, regular fries and bottled water. That came out to just over $18. I went up and ordered food for her and myself. She ordered the lobster/shrimp meal with fried okra, mac n cheese and yams as sides. I ordered fried catfish with fried shrimp, yams, and mac n cheese with 2 diet cokes. Each meal came with a piece of cornbread. We also ordered a peach cobbler for dessert. That all came out to just over $76. It took about 15 minutes to get all of our food. We picked a table and went up to order. The cashier basically was our server as well. She brought everything to our table. The shrimp looked like jumbo shrimp. They were perfectly fried and seasoned. Nice and hot. My wife enjoyed the okra and it looked to also be fried perfectly. My catfish was my favorite dish. It was golden brown, fresh, flavorful and presented well with sprinkles of dried parsley on top. The yams were not good to me but my wife enjoyed them. They were swimming in syrup and tasted like a sugar-first kind of recipe. I was not a fan. They did present well, however. The mac n cheese was also delicious. Unique flavor for a classic soul-food-type mac n cheese. I did get a few overcooked pieces of elbow macaroni in there but it didn't demote the dish. It also tasted like there was some sort of msg added and there were a few bites where it tasted a bit too salty. But still really good. Cornbread just tasted like cake instead of sweet cornbread. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't have missed it if it wasn't on my plate. My wife wasn't a fan of the fried lobster and wasn't really sure what they were trying to accomplish with that dish. The peach cobbler was not ready right away so we got it to go. To me, I think for the prices you pay, the restaurant needs to be a true sit-down establishment with actual servers and wait staff. The poor cashier woman was there by herself trying to serve everyone, take orders and help out in the back. Even though it is optional, I hate the pos payment kiosks that ask for a tip before you pay. Historically, tips are for true wait staff, not someone that just drops your food to your table. Of course, we tipped and we always do but to tip 20% on those prices, you'd expect the experience to feel like it. It's also your responsibility to completely clean your own table. They have signs for this at every table. Would we come back? Absolutely. No question. We enjoyed the food. The place was clean, it has a goode vibe (see what I did there?), and the cashier/server was helpful. I would just suggest figuring out a way to get true wait staff and more help to make the business run more efficiently.

I've had the food truck food at the Galleria food truck mall. Generally this establishment seems to shine with fried goods. I decided to do something different and went with jerk chicken. Perhaps that's where I got it all wrong. I really should reserve jerk meats for the carribeans. This was the driest set of chicken parts I've had in a very very long time. It legit hurt to go down. I doused with sauces and yet I could not revive it. The Mac and cheese was just ok. Thr beans wasalso just ok. The corn bread was average. Honestly my 2nd star was far the sweet lady taking orders and the decebt service. My 3rd star was for the DELICIOUS German chocolate cake . Next time I go (yes there will be a next time) I will like do a fried fish dish and some cake! Final grade: C for now.

Food and service is good. I ordered fried pork chops with rice and gravy with a side spaghetti and green beans. The pork chops were a bit dry, but the sides were pretty good. Not overly seasoned/salty. They have a wide variety of options to choose from. I tried the peach cobbler and it has a really good flavor, but the crust was different. It wasn't the usual flaky crust. I don't know exactly, but it seems to be cake batter or something. I prefer traditional crust, so it depends on what you like. The dining space is clean and comfortable. Overall, I'd rate the restaurant a 3.5 I would dine here again and I would recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

We tried their brick and mortar in Pearland. We enjoyed their food and their staff is friendly. We ordered whiting fish with mac and cheese and green beans, jerk chicken with okra and dirty rice, and shrimp with dirty rice and yams (I like that it's not too sweet). Their dinner meals come with 2 sides and moist cornbread. We will definitely go back.

Very very great customer service! Beautiful location, very nice and clean, also great music playing! The food is absolutely amazing! Didn't take long for it to come out and was fulfilling. Seasoned well and plenty of options for sauces. The soul juice was also extremely good.

My son and I arrived in Pearland early and our room wasn't ready so we came here to grab a bite. We ordered catfish and mashed potatoes and shrimp and fries. The meals were $10 each which was wonderfully priced! Everything was good and the customer service was great too!

I called in a 1st time oder and was initially hung up on. I immediately called back and p)aced an order. Perch basket and a whiting basket. I inquired about condiments and informed sold separately. I asked for Chicago mild sauce and informed that they were out. Picked up the order, got home, and it was bot like home (Chicago). There was no bread, no plastic warehouse, no napkins, and yes, no condiments. The order was made fresh. It was seasoned good. I substituted one of the basket fries for okra. Soul Goode, offer bread, plasticware, napkins, and condiments. For the price, it should be included. I will eventually return because I know what to expect. There were only 3 customers inside. The interior was not special. It appeared they took over another establishment.

I would give 0 stars if I could. went to the drive thru and waited for 10 minutes with no response. Then I pulled up to the window and waited for 4 more minutes. I decided to call the store to ask if the drive thru was working (because I have wanted to try it for 2 months). The employee answers the phone and stated "it's not working yet". I then suggested they should put a sign to let people know. He stated "ok". You would think someone would come to the side window where I was and take my order. Nope. You would think someone would actually apologize. Nope. Sadly I will NEVER go back to a business that treats paying customers that way. I can spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

Food is good, a bit over season. Need more untried dishes; however they never disappoint. It may cut 5 years off your life if you eat their regularly, but you will leave here satisfied and happy!! Please cut down on the sodium and give us more not fried options !!

I am disappointed. A soul food restaurant that doesn't know how to make cabbage. Refried chicken and 6 shrimp, I am appalled. Half of my order was missing Thank God, because the food I did rreceive was atrocious. They should hsve keep the whole order. A former customer.

I will NEVER spend my money here again, unless there are some major changes made!!! I try my best to support black owned businesses whenever I can, but this establishment doesn't deserve that level of support. This is my 3rd time eating here. The first time was great and that's why I keep coming back, but it's been all downhill since then. I tried to call the number listed on their Yelp page; let me save you the trouble. It's NOT the restaurant number. Fine. Head up there at 11:45 since the posted hours online say they open at 11am. The door is locked and there is a younger brown skin woman cleaning tables with a young man. Neither of them come to the door to tell me they're closed or what time they open. Instead, they're looking at me through the glass from 20 feet away making hand gestures like I was a peasant. I was so shocked I turned to leave and saw another woman who was waiting in her car and she told me that they had just done the same thing to her. You don't have hours posted outside the business, the phone number posted online is incorrect, AND the hours posted online are incorrect. The least you could do is come to the door and tell me you're closed & what time you open as if you value my business! It was so unbelievably rude and a disgusting way to treat people. Against my better judgement, I stayed to order. I was told it would be a 15 minute wait. I waited 35 minutes for my one plate and multiple people that had huge orders after me got their food first. Huh? Finally I am served, but the nightmare isn't over. I ordered an "extra meat" for $6, which was the pork chops. I thought since the pork chop dinner comes with two chops, that's what I would be getting. Wrong. I was given O-N-E pork chop. For $6. I understand that prices are going up everywhere, but that is ridiculous and now y'all are just purely taking advantage of people. Their prices are already VERY high ($19 for a wing plate!) but I usually pay my due and keep it moving, because the food was good. Until now. This was my first time trying their Mac n cheese. It was soooooo dry. Yuck. At least the spaghetti was good as usual. Then I went to take a bite of my wings that I waited 35 minutes for, and there were literally feathers all over my wings. Both the big thick feathers and the thin hair-like feathers, just everywhere. What the heck took so long for my food then, because they obviously were NOT cleaning the chicken. Just nasty!!! Nasty attitudes, nasty macaroni, and nasty nasty hairy chicken. On my first visit, I met the sweetest woman working the register and another guy that came out to just say hello and mingle with the guests. THEY are the reasons I have kept coming back and they need to give those young folks working the front some customer service training. I know this family is from Chicago, but we're in the south, and southern hospitality is law!

The food was Soul Good I had the fried shrimp and catfish plate with spaghetti and Mac and cheese. The food was fresh, hot out of the grease! Definitely had great flavor. The plate was packed full of food!! The service was quick. I got there as soon as they opened. They were very hospitable. I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Sadly my son caught such a violent case of food poisoning from eating here. Will never patronize this place ever again. Not to mention each plate being 20 plus dollars. Catfish is what got my son sick. Also, had tons of small bones in it. So hazardous. The pork chops tasted as if they were tossed in old grease. Best thing was the cornbread.

Very Impressed. Everything we ordered was full of flavor. My personal favorites were the spaghetti, jerk chicken, and pound cake. The Jerk Chicken had a little heat to it. Will definitely be back!

Overall the food was good! Especially the green beans. The only reason why I'm giving this place 4 stars is because of the customer service. They seem to be highly understaffed. The woman who takes your order also had 20 other tasks to do which had her all over the place. At one point she took a few orders. At one point she had to clean tables. At one point she was in the kitchen and no one was in the front taking orders causing the line to get long. The wait time for food was tooooooo long. You could tell customers were getting impatient. I ended up getting a free soul-aid drink for free due to the wait though. It tasted just like a green apple jolly rancher! So good! I would definitely go back for the food!

Don't let a small tucked away diner fool you - the food was fresh and flavorful. Oh, and definitely delicious. Met Ms. Charoletta, a charming and must delightful person to add superb service to the atmosphere. Had pork chop sandwich basket and Shrimp/Fish basket Will visit again.

It's so frustrating that literally every time I've come here they have been out of something that I tried to order. If you accept cash as a form of payment then I expect you to have change. The lady that takes the orders is not very friendly or welcoming. I certainly hope they that can fix these issues. It's a nuisance when patronizing a business having to deal with these types of unprofessional issues.

The family and I tried Soul Good today, referred from a family friend. The food was ok! I expected it to be a lil bit tastier. Definitely was fulfilling! The wait time was atleast 30-35, we arrived at around 3:30 on a Sunday! Definitely order the pineapple lemonade!

I'm a very picky eater, and this was my first time eating at Soul Goode! The food, ambiance, and customer service were all A-1! I highly recommend you trying this place out if you're looking for a "feel good" meal. I'll definitely be returning!
