Soul Mama Music Venue | Restaurant

Went here for a DJ music event - to have a dance. However, the set up was too much like a restaurant with a very small dance floor, dominated by the long tables of diners. The kid running on the dance floor, no no no - no parents seeming to care, this was late too on a Sunday night and no staff to have a word with the parents. Then the kid goes and touches the vinyl record on the deck in the stage!! Wow! Soul Mama manager why are you not attending to this?? Would not want to go here again for a DJ event as it felt like I was at a wedding!! We had the chicken wings and plantain, as prices for the food were a bit pricey and the dishes we saw, the portions were not that big. The staff were not able to say what was gluten free or not. When the 4th member of staff was able to advise, I asked why something so simple could not be placed on the menu to which she replied the ingredients can vary… eh? It is not that hard! I choose the rum sauce for the wings. The wings were tasty but the plantain portion was small & a bit dry. Would I return?… probably not, trustingly not if I am paying to eat there as I do feel their prices are a bit too pricey!

Wow, what an experience! The music (Rick Leon James and band) was phenomenal. Started with a live band and then later transitioned into a DJ. The food was very good and filling - our group had a mix of different dishes, all of which we enjoyed. The cocktails were decent. Service was excellent and very engaged

"Soul Mama: Style Over Substance" Visited Soul Mama for the first time with high hopes. The live jazz band created a vibrant atmosphere, and the initial impression was excellent. Unfortunately, the dining experience quickly deteriorated. We arrived as part of a larger party but were inexplicably seated at a separate table despite available space at table. After a 15-minute wait, a waitress rudely insisted we join our party, despite available space at their table. Ordering took another 20 minutes, and the food arrived in stages. I initially received the wrong dish, the Jerk Oyster Mushrooms instead of the Braised Beef. After a 40-minute wait, the correct dish arrived, which was thankfully delicious. However, our drinks order, placed upon arrival, remained elusive. Despite numerous attempts to flag down staff, it took over an hour to receive our drinks, with a bartender stating we had to wait for the original waitress to confirm payment. To add insult to injury, I was served the alcoholic version of my drink instead of the 0% I ordered. Frustrated and exhausted after a two-hour wait for incomplete service, i requested a refund and left. The manager offered no apology for the significant service failures. While the live music and ambiance were initially appealing, Soul Mama ultimately delivered a disappointing and unprofessional dining experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

This venue gave 💯 service to the joint birthday party I attended! I have to add that the table food service/order taking process let the side down so huge room improvements in group settings! The vibe, the live band 🎶, the cocktails were a big YES 👌🏾 Thinking of hosting a party there! There's a monthly schedule with different artists!

I had a truly disappointing experience at My Soul Mama. Where do I even begin? They misled customers into believing there would be a live band, but my partner and I were placed upstairs in a secluded area with other diners who also felt deceived. When we tried to place our order, the staff made several mistakes. We ended up waiting over an hour for our main meal, which was a disaster in itself. When the food finally arrived—after repeatedly asking about our order—it was incomplete. The entire night felt chaotic, and I was embarrassed for my partner. We ended up paying £57 for subpar service and missing food items. Our Valentine's Day was effectively ruined, and we were both extremely frustrated. I even felt sympathy for the waitstaff, as it was clear they were inexperienced and there was a lack of skilled personnel on the floor. If they had provided clearer information about not having live band dining, it would have been a different story, but nothing in the booking indicated this. I will never return to My Soul Mama again. Might as well have gone to Nandos, at least you know what your paying for. Avoid this place at all cost. Literally added the picture to show evidence of going there.

I’ve been to quite a few jazz shows, and I was truly impressed with the band and the cute & intimate atmosphere—perfect for a girls’ night out or a date. However, the drinks were slow to arrive, and the food menu was quite limited. The wings were delicious, but nothing else really stood out, so I chose to dine elsewhere afterward. That said, I still had a great time and would go again for the vibes.

We enjoyed our evening here and the entertainment was great in a good venue but we found the menu very limited and some items a bit pricey for what you get, the chicken curry was tasty but the lamb dish was full of large bones! It can be difficult to use the App to order to the table so some waiters had to help people with this and it’s a long wait for food to arrive, the couple sitting next to us waited 2hours ! So for this reason only 3 stars . I hope this improves as we would like to visit again .

Last week, I visited this venue to celebrate a birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were courteous, attentive, and genuinely down-to-earth. The food was unexpectedly outstanding, which was a pleasant surprise since we initially came for the music. Speaking of which, the artist lineup was incredible, and the intimate atmosphere made the event feel even more special. This venue is definitely a must-visit!
