"Brothers Jewuan Marshall and Charles Robinson draw on homestyle family traditions at Lake Street’s Midtown Global Market. All the classics, from pork rib tips to brisket, are great bets — but don’t overlook the soul food sides, like smoked mac and cheese, black-eyed peas, char-grilled corn, etc." - Eater Staff

I work here at the Midtown global market. And I’m telling y’all this place has the best brisket I’ve ever had in my life! I mean slap yo mama good lol. The brisket chili is off the chain, the catfish is the bomb, and everything goes really well with every side you can choose. If you’re ever in the Midtown global market, make sure you visit this place. And did I mention they also sell smoked meats by the pound, serve meals to feed entire families and lunch specials! You won’t be disappointed !!!

Soul to Soul Smokehouse is located inside the Global Market. You can’t see it from the street, so just park and head inside. I had the ribs. My daughter had the pork sandwich. It wasn’t pulled pork, so she found it kind of odd. Still good, just odd. I had the ribs, beans, and collard greens. Everything was really good. The ribs don’t seem to have much of a rub on them. If you like a nice crust on your ribs, these aren’t that. That said, the ribs were falling off the bone. Exactly how they should be. Great tasting. Plenty of meat. Very delicious. The beans were really good also. I couldn’t figure out what meat was in the beans. Ground sausage? It was different and tasted really good. The greens were spicy. I liked those also. Not mushy at all. Very good. We only had the mild sauce which had a great taste to it. Tangy. A very good compliment to the food. I asked for both the mild and the spicy, I guess they forgot. You’ll have to try the spicy and evaluate on your own. Give Soul to Soul smokehouse a try. I’ll certainly be back when I’m down that way.

I had a half slab of ribs which comes with two sides I chose the collard greens and mac & cheese. I also ordered a side of beans, and banana pudding. My favorite things in order were 1. ribs 2. banana pudding 3. beans 4. collard greens 5. Mac & cheese The collard greens were just slightly too salty, and the Mac & cheese was almost too mushy (but not quite, definitely not gonna be able to reheat it later though). The ribs were tender, the sauce was great, the banana pudding was absolutely delicious, I loved that there were a couple of different types of beans in the side of beans and they were also sweet and delicious. The staff was super friendly and I really enjoyed the over all experience. I would go again for sure.

What we ordered: pulled pork sandwich with smoked Mac and cheese. Wife ordered corn on the cob and seasoned fries. How good was it: Pork was fall off the bone tender and bun was crisp and buttered to perfection. The mild BBQ sauce was not needed because the meat was so tender but added a nice sweet flavor to the sandwich. The corn was phenomenal and fries delicious. Never have had better corn then here! Timely service? Food was ready in 15 minutes from time of order despite being during busy lunch hour.

Google
Story - This restaurant was started by two brothers who learned how to cook from their mother. Staff - Friendly and helpful. The register lady took a minute to explain the sauces to me. I removed one star due to a front line employee on his phone while wearing serving gloves. It did take a while for the food to come out but there was a large order right before I arrived (1pm). Food Brisket sandwich - The bun was buttery, toasted, and soft. The brisket was tender and lightly seasoned with a perfect amount of cap. It seemed a bit pricey for the amount but the quality was worth it. There are limited BBQ options in Minneapolis so I would expect to pay slightly more for this kind of meal. It was a bit dry for my liking but very tasty. Coleslaw - I’m not much in coleslaw but I thought this was creamy and mild. Sauce - The mild sauce flavor was warm, sweet, and not overpowering. The hot ($0.75 extra) was hotter than I expected and was not as sweet. Overall the food was tasty and the experience was a good one. Without a doubt the best BBQ brisket I have had in Minneapolis.

Google
Soul to Soul Smokehouse is INCREDIBLE! Don’t show up unless you’ve got a monster appetite; the portions are HUGE! Pictured is the smoked turkey with gravy, the smoked mac and cheese, and the smokehouse beans. The food was prepped quickly and came out piping hot! The turkey has outstanding flavor- kissed by the smoke! The Mac and cheese was fair, but the beans had ground beef inside and was lip-smacking good! What a fantastic value and easily one of my favorite barbecue joints in the entire U.S. If you’ve never been, GO! If you’ve been, get back, Jack!

Had a massive order for the family and all of it was well received. Possibly the best fried chicken I’ve had in Minnesota. Mac and cheese, black eyed peas and fried shrimp were all superb. This was my first visit. Many more visits to come! Strongly recommend as a soul food option in a great central location at the Midtown Global Market.

Google
When we walked around the global market, we didn’t think of it at first, but when we got our food (which was a lot for what we paid) about 20 min after 12, the cashier checked to see if it was ok to get our lunch specials, we finally get our food after 10-20 min, and it was. Amazing, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone and the fry’s aren’t normally frozen generic brand, but homemade, the corn was also to die for. I Absolutely recommend if you love to eat something barbecue.

Yelp
Walked by today and someone was cleaning out the space, it has permanently closed. I only had the food once but it was great. But maybe Tacocat will return to this space now!

Yelp
I needed some ribs in my life and used Yelp to find Soul 2 Soul, located in South Mpls within the Midtown Market (old Sears tower for you older ppl lol). There is a parking lot across the street and a few places to parallel park adjcent to the building. I placed my order online and ran inside to pick it up. It's located towards the back of the building. There was live music when i arrived and a TON of ppl inside. Food: Chicken wings, cornbread, 1 lb rib tips, greens, black-eyed peas and cake. Wings were smoked and then fried. They were okay, just needed a bit of seasoning. I wasn't a fan of the greens, but thoroughly enjoyed the black-eyed peas, rib tips and that cornbread! The cake was kind of dry and I didn't like it. Service: No one was friendly. I walked up for assistance, where you're told to stand no one would have seen me, so i positioned myself in area where all three ppl working could see me. I stood there for a while, people watching and finally the guy simply nodded his head to the woman working a few times, never said hello, addressed me or said we'll be right with you. The woman turned around and addressed me with "How can I help you?" No apology for not noticing me. She assisted me and thanked me, but I do like good service and I don't feel I was given that. I've wanted to eat here for a while, I've done that now and probably won't again. That's the post.

Yelp
Very good service , very good food i had the catfish rice all i needed was grits with cheese but the food is good and fresh .

Yelp
Was taking a stroll through the midtown market and smelled some bar...be...cueee going on. Ran in to Soul to Soul in the south east corner of the midtown mall. The atmosphere was loud but good! People were enjoying their rib tips and pork ribs.I tried the smoked fried chicken wings. They were okay.I'm not a fan of the breading that they used...it was like a corn meal breading and I don't get along with corn meal. The brisket and ribs that others were ordering looked great so I will try those next time. The service was slow...They take and prepare orders in the order they are taken. So if you only have three wings like I had but someone ordered 6 combo plates...you will have to wait until they get that order out.To me I get it but it doesn't make sense. They should have another cook for smaller orders‍. I'll will be going back to check out the Mack and cheese, collard greens and some of the other goodies that looked good on this first visit.

Yelp
I have had the opportunity to spend time eating bbq in Texas, and all over the south. Soul to Soul is literally in the top 5. The brisket is perfect every time. Ribs fall off the bone and the beans are on point!

Chassidie L.

Yelp
YES YES and YES! This spot definitely makes it into my top 10 eateries in the Twins Cities! If you are looking for tender, moist, fall off the bone brisket, smoked pork, or ribs, this is the place to go! Not to mention, all of their comfort soul food side dishes are the best! The juiciest, most tender, fatty piece of smoked pork I have ever put in my mouth. So so delicious! I got the smoked pork combo w/ mac n cheese and black eyed beans and it was only $12. Such a great deal! I've had quite a few mac n cheeses in the cities so far and this is by far my favorite. Super silky, cheesy, and flavorful! You have to dip everything into their BBQ sauce. It is literally too-die-for. Tangy and sweet with just a little bit of heat. I will definitely be going back before I move!

Luke G.

Yelp
Super solid BBQ. The owner was very nice and fished out free samples to our kids! The brisket was the star! It was not dry; had a great rub; and I especially liked the vinegary hot BBQ sauce that accompanied it! The fries were mushy, and the Mac n cheese was very mushy as well. Good, but the texture could have been crunchy and toothy. It's VERY reasonably priced. Recommend!

Yelp
My wife and were off to Midtown Global Market for our new restaurant Saturday lunch in The Twin Cities. I read some really good Yelp reviews and the service and welcoming feeling is just as true as described. I ordered the smoked pork with black eyes peas, collard greens and the baked beans. We waited about 5 minutes and took our loot over to the Eastlake Brewery next door and sat down in there and ordered an IPA. (Delicious beer) I was surprised they didn't have pulled pork, but if a place has smoked pork, I have to have it. It was super juicy and some nice sized slices of it to boot. A little too much fat, but that probably added to the juiciness. I got the hot BBQ, which was spicy, but not over the top. It really doesn't need the sauce, it tastes that good. 9/10 Collard Greens - Super flavorful and juicy and I am guessing they cook it in some of BBQ fat. Really good! 9/10 The baked beans were almost like a hearty chili. Amazing, my favorite. Some huge beans and just full of flavor. I took home half of the three sides, the meal was so filling. 10/10 The black eyed peas were good with some hunks of meat in it. Not amazing, but not bad at all. 7.5/10 This place is a must try for BBQ lovers and the owner was super nice and seemed to talk with everyone.

Laura W.

Yelp
Love this place! Their ribs are one of the best in minneapolis! The meat is always super tender and falls off the bone! I always love getting the corn too. It is well seasoned and perfectly charred. I would definitely recommend eating here!

Anthony B.

Yelp
Food very delicious , service phenomenal, location is great and convenient area. Definitely one of my go to barbecue spots here on the Southside of MPLS highly recommended, reasonably priced and great for food gatherings.

John R.

Yelp
The food was excellent but the prices were 20 percent higher than the on-line price list. And they did not have any tapwater - contrary to Mpls regulations. I don't have any tolerance for deliberate dishonesty on menus.

Randale M.

Yelp
I'm trying to give my business to good people and keep them going however they don't seem to respect the people they serve, and sometimes they will look right at me and say nothing. Today is a holiday so I decided to call first before arriving and I had no answer 3 times then she answered and told me they were probably on a break. The food is good however that customer service sucks.

Natalie Y.

Yelp
Closer to a 3.83 than a solid 4. This bbq place is located inside of Midtown Global Market. The brisket and rib tips are extremely tender and smoked well. Other than that they don't really have much flavor apart from dunking it in their bbq sauce. Their collard greens and Mac and cheese are solid. I presume this is the standard/traditional way of smoking meats and preparing sides- not too much sweetness or a lot of extra seasonings in their food. So for people who like standard bbq, textures and preparations are on point. For others who like their meats and sides with a little extra more umph or intensely prepared with overwhelming flavors- this may not suit your pallete. All in all a solid bbq spot in the food hall.

Joe J.

Yelp
The barbecue at Soul to Soul was outstanding! I have tried bbq places all I've the country and this one is near the top for me. The flavors blended well and let the smoke be the star of the show. The sides were awesome as well, with the mac'n cheese being the cheesiest I have ever had and the beans having tons of flavor with a sweetness I really loved. Service was quick for a real bbq place. Will definitely be going back and bringing my family.

Kevin L.

Yelp
What a great experience, absolutely wonderful food. We had the smoked brisket and pork rib ends for meats and black eyed peas, collard greens, fries and baked beans. The meats were outstanding, especially the rib ends - great bark on them. The collard greens and black eyed peas are the best I've had in MN. We'll definitely be back!

Andre H.

Yelp
Very good quality BBQ! Located in the Midtown Global Market which is a great place to walk around and try different cuisines. Ribs were tender and seasoned well. The smokehouses beans were delicious as well. Will definitely be back to get a BBQ fix!

Charlee L.

Yelp
This place is great! Ordered the 2 meat combo plate with brisket and pork and sides of smoked mac-n-cheese and collared greens. The mac-n-cheese is one of the best I have had and I have tried a lot of it. The greens were cooked perfectly and not at all bitter. Also ordered the pecan butter cake, which was a perfect end to the meal. We tried a few BBQ spots in Minneapolis and this was the best one we found.

Safia R.

Yelp
Had Soul to Soul Smokehouse for the first time today, and definitely won't be the last. Got half a smoked chicken with Black-Eyed Peas and smoked macaroni and cheese. Everything was very delicious, especially the macaroni and cheese and the Soul Sauce. Hadn't had macaroni like that since I was little. And if they have that sauce for sale, I will be getting a jar next time I'm there. The people running this are doing everything right, and if you like BBQ and soul food, this is the place.

Yelp
My boyfriend has been looking for a restaurant with good soul food since he's moved from New York and he's finally found it after eating here. The food is delicious. The portions are pretty big so expect to take home some leftovers, which we ended up doing. We got the Brisket, Smoked Pork, and Rib Tips with a side sampler of 3 different sides: Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens and the Smokehouse Beans. The Brisket was cooked to perfection: the fat to meat ratio is ideal and is seasoned perfectly. The Smoked Pork just melted in my mouth. It paired well with the Collard Greens; the vinegary components of the greens compliment the savory pork. The star of the show for us was the Rib Tips. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE RIB TIPS! Yeah it might knock you out with food coma after but it's worth every time wasted on your nap. The Rib Tips were juicy, flavorful and tender. If you love cartilage, this dish is for you. Makes me want to try the full slab of the ribs next time I visit. We paired all the meats with their hot bbq sauce which was chef's kiss . The Smokehouse beans were amazing and was our favorite side. The mac and cheese was very cheesy and creamy, while not being overly flavorful which balances out the other savory, smoky flavors. Soul to Soul Smokehouse is definitely our new favorite spot.

Christina P.

Yelp
Stopped to pick up a family meal to sit on the patio and eat while we grabbed a couple beers at East Lake Brewing. What a find! The brisket was tender and moist, the rib tips were flavorful, and the Chicken! Oh, the chicken... SO flavorful and juicy! Oh! And the Mac n cheese! Wow! Needless to say, we were very happy with our happen-stance stop for some BBQ and our family of 5 plus a toddler were all full with leftovers for the next day too! Will add this to our list of favorites for sure!

Kevin O.

Yelp
I found my new BBQ spot! In Midtown of all places. After seeing a news story, I decided to try this place out were some African American Brothers opened up a really soulful place. I ordered the two meat with two small sides and a corn bread combo meal. Ok I'm still smacking my lips after rushing home. I got three bone pork rib, rib tips, extra mac & cheese and extra collards greens. Everything was super delicious! Meat was smoky and tender, cheesy Mac and tender greens. Good corn bread too! I'm glad I got extra sides. I really hope they stay around, because I'm a new foodie fan. I didn't try any desserts yet, but I will be back soon.

Kathy J.

Yelp
I have tried several items from the Soul to Soul menu, and everything I've tasted is delicious and I love that it is cooked fresh when ordered. The black-eyed peas are so amazing, also I recommend the cornbread fried shrimp. I must also recommend the BBQ brisque sandwich is truly finger licking good.

Patrick D.

Yelp
Just tried their ribs at the farmers market in Richfield and Holy crap, so much smokiness. Best ribs I've ever had. Will be going to this place again.

Ryan W.

Yelp
Soul to Soul is the real deal. Had the pork ribs and brisket, both were excellent, and come with two enormous sides! Can't wait to go back again

Kennedy D.

Yelp
I had the briskit sandwich and sampled the chili ,best sandwich of anykind I have ever had the chili was also Great and the coleslaw was fantastic ! I will be going back for sure and spreading the news about my new favorite place!

James R.

Yelp
Great food done right brisket great staff friendly great place to order ribs tips good ribs good

Kati W.

Yelp
The BEST brisket I've ever had. This just falls right off the fork. Seriously my new favorite soul food place.

Will C.

Yelp
Tried this place 3 times due to it being a black owned business and every time the food was subpar ribs were bland not seasoned at all cornbread was tasteless service was ok young lady was nice but guys would make eye contact with you and just stare and say nothing. The only thing I liked there and would recommend is the black eye peas they were great every time. I really had I hopes for this business due to its close to home and work but I would NEVER eat there again

Brad B.

Yelp
You can mess around with all the other restaurants that smoke meat in the Twin Cities or you can just go eat at the best the cities has to offer. This place is a legitimate smokehouse and you'll not be disappointed. Best brisket I've had and anyone who says different should stick to salads and tofu. Great addition to the Midtown Global Market.

Monittia J.

Yelp
Ok the Brisket sandwich is disrespectful! So good! Sooo then I had some sweet potato pie ICE CREAM. it too was amazing. Greens were good, but I'm picky about my greens. So that means awesome in others eyes. To top it off the owner and team were fast friendly and accommodating! Thank you for bringing this option to the global market. Nice pricing too!

Hua S.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place during a trip to Minneapolis. We got the rib tips and catfish fillet with Mac and cheese and collard greens as sides. Absolutely mind-blown by how good it was. I could barley think while eating. The breading on the catfish amazingly crisp and the catfish itself was melt in your mouth. The rib tips were seasoned really nicely and the sauce really just went with everything. Probably the best Mac and cheese I've ever had, actually blew our minds. We finished off with the sweet potato ice cream and the pecan bourbon butter cake which go together perfectly. Would absolutely make this a regular weekly stop if I lived here.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
The absolute best brisket I've ever had -- completely exceptional. And the staff is so kind!!

Chris H.

Yelp
Excellent! Minneapolis doesn't have a ton of good BBQ options and those we do have can really add up in price. I got the three choice family meal for $60 that came with the following: chicken, brisket, rack of ribs, grill corn on the cob, Mac/cheese, collared greens. It was all moist, Uber tender and great and could feed 5-ish very well! For meat, I couldn't decide on my favorite as all 3 were equally delicious. For sides, it was between Mac/cheese and corn but the corn wins and was so Fing good. Sauces had a great vinegar undertone, which is my fave. Hot one had a little more kick than I was looking for but it was great. I hope they'll add a mustard/white sauce. For constructive feedback: very minor. It was easy to order (online), pay using Apple Pay and the girl who brought it out was so nice. So here are two that could improve. First, you cannot tip after the meal and must do so when ordering the meal online. I hate when apps make you tip before experience is over. Second (again, not a big deal) when you order online, it tells you just to got to 10th street but doesn't specify where. It's actually 10th Ave (not street) and you drive up closest to Lake street (not the side entrance we're you park and enter MGM.) This one is definitely recommended!

Roy R.

Yelp
Bought some brisket and portions were small for the price plus being dry. Bought their smoked beans they were a little better but not as good as the first time. Being I'm at Abbot a lot I thought I found a smoking gun for food but guess not, won't be back.

Peter M.

Yelp
Had a great lunch today. Rib tips were juicy, smoky, tasty. Brisket was amazingly juicy and tender. Collards were also great, as was the corn bread and the mac and cheese. We were a bit disappointed in the wings( which were huge, juicy, crispy, but a bit bland tasting)

Mandy E.

Yelp
Fantastic Family meal with brisket, a rack of ribs and a whole smoked chicken with three sides. Beans were meaty and a meal in itself. Couldn't pick a favorite of the meat as each one was just as delicious as the last! Greens were well seasoned and on point! We'll be back!

Jade F.

Yelp
I called ahead to see if they put turkey legs in the collards cause I'm not tryna eat no greens without no meat. I was told yeah we got meat in our collards I order my food A LARGE actually and I don't see not one drop of meat in my whole container all I'm seeing is tiny tiny slivers of meat that look like they could be strands of hair that's how thin they was . it's just salty greens I'm mad asf because I read reviews and had high hopes just another disappointment and waste of money

Maren H.

Yelp
This place HERE!! Had the rib tips, brisket, mac n cheese, the smokehouse beans and oh man the soul corn. All of it SO GOOD!!! I will most definitely be back!!!! I literally felt like I was at an old school BBQ.

Ashleigh W.

Yelp
Great addition to Midtown Global Market!! We love their brisket, beans, and macaroni and cheese. There's certainly no shortage of great options in Midtown but this place can't be missed!

Rita M.

Yelp
This is THE BEST BBQ! We picked up food here and did the family 3 meat combination. We got smoked turkey, brisket and ribs and they were each better than the last. Our sides were huge and the meat was a lot of each thing and very affordable. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back. It is vastly better than Famous Dave's and the sauces were excellent too.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Best service ever. Couldn't decide between wings or pork ribs. Ordered the ribs. While I was waiting, one of the guys overheard me, ran out from the back with a wrapped up wing just so I could try it. Sauce too. The staff were so warm and friendly when they brought out the food. I got tons of food and there wasn't a bad dish in there. The wing (be prepared that they're crispy deep fried) were delicious. The ribs fell off the bone. In my opinion, there's no such thing as too much sauce on a rib, but these didn't even need sauce (obviously I still did.I'm not a psychopath). But honestly, I'd go back just for the warm and friendly service alone.

Steve Y.

Yelp
Terrific bbq, everything was delicious. From the corn to the collards, to the smoked turkey, rib tips, and brisket, there's not a miss in the bunch. And the catfish - best we've had. We now have a new favorite bbq spot!

J S.

Yelp
Completely Fantastic!!!! Everything was excellent. The best brisket I've ever had,
