This farmer's market is an absolute must-visit! It's filled with parts of history, character, and amazing finds. From fresh, affordable produce to unique handmade crafts, there's something for everyone, even little kids. I loved exploring the different food vendors and trying out the delicious pastries and healthy drinks/smoothies. It can get crowded on weekends, but it's worth the hustle and bustle. The parking is a huge plus! I highly recommend visiting!

Less than 24 hours after purchase this was the condition of my produce. Disappointed yes, but an inside source confirmed that these vendors often purchase end of shelf-life produce from local grocery store chains at deep discounts to resell at farmers markets. I was skeptical but this is some convincing evidence. The fresh bakery bread was still defrosting, the sports merchandise was unlicensed, and what's with the rogue laundry detergent booth selling what Dollar General has to lock up now because of theft? I'm confused.

Lots of vendors to shop with. Baked goods, fruit, vegetables, meat, jewelry, oils, soaps, clothing, plants, candy.... anything you can think of its probably here. It gets pretty busy at times so go early. You can find some good deals here. Its about 3 rows of booths to walk through. There is a pay parking lot across the street and pay street parking too. More vendors are open on weekends.

Great selection of fruits and vegetables but everything seemed over priced compared to stores. Lot of shops and small businesses selling all kinds of cuisines. It’s one of those places you just have to walk around and see what they have that you like. Had clothes, scents/oils/body butters, different types of meats, spice shops, exotic fruits like jackfruit /apple banana/dorian/etc. I was going to get a watermelon and it was $10 for one and it wasn’t organic or anything. I think the people there just trying to make a decent profit but wasn’t worth it to me if it’s not organic AND priced high. Overall experience on a Saturday and many people there

Let's talk year-round farmer's markets; this is among one of the best places to go for just about everything from farm to table. Along with beverages and confections that you just don't find anywhere. It's both indoor and sheltered. We were there on a brisk day in the forties. It was very busy and a vast variety of produce. Bring cash and a backpack or bags. It's very reasonably priced fare. You also have contact with some eclectic and specific vendors - mushrooms, herbs, and homeopathics - they have a wide array of products. This is definitely a place for you to keep bookmarked.

I loved it here. It was such a vibe plus you can grab a drink while you shop!

Google
Easy to walk around and check out the local vendors. Could be a good spot to buy handmade baked goods, soaps, and lotions. Lots of produce and fruit, as well.

One of the oldest farmer's markets. Quite a lot of variety. Great place to purchase meat & vegetables plus many other interesting things.

Yelp
I stoped by here on a Friday afternoon. Wasn't busy at all. They had some great produce and the smells of all the different food was amazing. Loved all the different vendors and even was able to try a few samples. I picked us some of the best garlic hummus I've ever had. I tired a sample and had to turn around to go buy some. Has so many options for everyone. Will be back here in a day more venders come out.

Yelp
Soulard Farmers Market never disappoints! We had checked out of our AirBnB that was around the corner and had to stop by. My oldest daughter turned 21 the day before and I just had to get her a hurricane! I chose a fabulous Cajun Bloody Mary. Anything with this much veggies is good for you right? Unfortunately you cannot go inside the Soulard spice market anymore. Covid? Someone ruined it for everyone? Don't know. But that was a bit of a bummer. Standing in line at the counter made it feel like a rushed experience and that's not how i like to shop for spices. I'm a grazer and a sniffer. We wandered and bought some veggies. Great deal on bunches of asparagus. I made some delicious (if I do say) asparagus soup. My daughters bought some baked goods and fresh made chocolates. I wish they would offer 1 hour of free parking. I think that would be great for business. I love the city and I wish more people would come down here!

Yelp
Went to the Soulard Farmers Market today for the first time, and this place is such a vibe. From products and goods to food and treats - there is a little bit of everything for everyone. My husband and I are foodies so we purchased fantastic Indian food, a couple of Gyros from another place, Empanadas, as well as handmade pasta noodles and bread. We purchased plants, and a few smaller items to bring back to our kids too. Fun experience, - always enjoy the diversity in Saint Louis!

Yelp
I love everything about this market. I've been coming down here since I was a kid. My favorite time to go is during the summer because it's a more vendors out. I usually can find street parking with a short walk to the market. The flower vendor is one of my favorites. She has some of the freshest flowers and they tend to last longer than local grocery stores. I also finally got a chance to taste the chicken and sausage gumbo and it's amazing. It's reasonably priced and the flavor is 10/10. I loved it so much that I went down there two weekends in a row to grab some. The people working at the food service station are always kind, pleasant, and cheerful in the early mornings. Until next time...

Joshua D.

Yelp
This was my first actual visit to the farmers market. I was thoroughly impressed. The produce available was plump and colorful and very well priced. The droves of people out buying fresh meats and fruit was a welcoming sight. Fresh breads, fruits and vegetables, baby chickens, and gorgeous plants. I can see me coming back the rest of my Saturdays.

Leah Anh N.

Yelp
In the past, I used to go here to buy fresh fruits and vegetables almost every weekend. I now only go here about three times a year. They have some stands with fruits and vegetables however less stands now than in the past. I notice more stands for other things like jewelry, oils, flowers/plants, sunglasses and etc. The prices used to be great because it was cheaper than grocery stores. Now I find their prices similar to grocery store. You can still go here and find deals. I went at three o'clock in the afternoon so it was closer to closing and I found bing cherry for two pounds costing three dollars. Earlier in the day, it was five dollars for two pounds. The people here are approachable. This place can get busy during peak hours especially on Saturday mornings in the summer.

Yelp
Soulard Market has delicious produce and meat along with the spice shop and all the other vendors have been going there since I was a child with my parents. Now my family goes with there children! Great place to shop.

Reggie Y.

Yelp
One of my favorite places on Earth!! Great vendors, great place to take the kids. Exotic fruits, veggies, and meats. Best produce in the city hands down. The spice shop has every seasoning you can think of. Great vibe!

Tamar K.

Yelp
I can't say what it's like on a Fri or Sat, but we went on a Thursday when it's supposed to be open, and there were just a handful of stores open. Almost no prepared foods or crafts at all. Just fruit, meat, jams. Such a waste of time and uber. They said most places are now only open on Fri/Sat. Frustrating!

Brooke E.

Yelp
i got all of my produce from here and it was SO GOOD and inexpensive compared to any grocery store. i also tried a maple bacon cronut for the first time and was very impressed.

Emily F.

Yelp
A great place to walk around on the weekend! There are a wide variety of vendors selling goods from jewelry to artwork to fresh produce to meat & spices! The prices are great, especially for produce! The prices have all the local grocery stores beat. Most of the vendors are super friendly, but there are a few that are a little pushy to get you to buy their products. I would recommend carpooling if you're going with multiple people. The parking situation is a little difficult and you may have to drive around for a while to find street parking. Come hungry & thirsty because there is fresh food and drinks to purchase & sample! There's something for everyone at the Soulard Farmers Market.

Meghan M.

Yelp
I went to the Soulard Farmers Market on Saturday morning and it was PACKED. There were a lot of different stands and items to buy but it was kind of hard to look due to how busy and crowded it was. We ended up buying some cookies and coffee which were both delicious. The one thing I really did not like was the fact that a few vendors had ducks/chickens/rabbits in tiny cages and were profiting off people paying to feed them. I felt bad for the poor animals as obviously they were super stressed being around all of those people. While there was some cool stuff, I don't think I will be back again.

Ed S.

Yelp
I lived in St. Louis for 6 years and never made it to Soulard Farmers Market. Shame on me. There's several aisles of vendors. Fruits and vegetables, beef, poultry, baked goods and plants. Hungry? There's several food vendors. Cajun, seafood, burgers & sandwiches-even Asian. Prices range from incredible to "well aren't you proud of your veggies". Most vendors offered beautiful produce for less than what you'd pay at your local market. Others must think we've never shopped before. But if you're local-a once a week visit will stock your crisper for the week.

Teresa G.

Yelp
Lots of food options good prices on fresh fruit n veggies. Plus you can eat here too while you're shopping around so that's a plus! I'm here for a conference n was pleasantly surprised.

Anoushka P.

Yelp
Love this place! Great priced produce, a great variety, and a great atmosphere. You'll find everything from veggies, to exotic fruit, to plants to baked goods. There's also tons of places to get other types of goods, like perfume or jewelry, and a few places to grab some food. One of the best farmers markets!

Ashley V.

Yelp
Really nice farmers market with a variety of produce, meat and other items for purchase! They also had a creole/Cajun place inside that smelled amazing, will try next time I'm in town!

Emerine C.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend love to stop by the Soulard Farmers Market every other week and pick up some items. The bakery has always been our favorite spot with the BEST focaccia I've ever tasted, but the last two times we were there they were closed. Not sure if that means they are closed for good or just for the season. Great spot to walk around, buy some groceries or other items and get super cheap drinks! Seriously, $3 for a margarita that is actually tasty. Bloody mary's are good too!

Sam P.

Yelp
Great place full of fresh fruits and veggies. They have a ton of different vendors all with cheap and different foods. Theres places that sell hot food like kabobs and pho and fried chicken. The people working there are always nice and trying to help. Its a bustling market and often crowded which I think adds to the experience. Its your classic farmers market with the taste of soulard! Head down on a saturday to check it out!

Suzee Q.

Yelp
I visited on a late Sunday summer day after 1 pm, which I don't think is ideal as some vendors had already packed up. Nonetheless, there was enough variety of product for me to select from, and I was able to get several boxes of fresh produce. I was only interested in the produce and didn't really look at any prepared foods or any other items. You need to know prices and appreciate the variety and quality of a farmer's market. Some things I thought were rather costly and I could easily get at my local Whole Foods but the bulk tomatoes I got were amazing. I think a visit to Soulard is something every St. Louisan should do at least once.

Shawn P.

Yelp
I absolutely love Soulard Farmers Market. My family and I have been going here for decades. When I was a kid I begged my mom to buy a goose and she did. It was our pet goose, Mickey. He was such a cool bird, when we would come home at the end of the day he would fly to the car to meet us. Anyway, I haven't bought any poultry since then but it's still an option on the weekends. I love to buy all the fresh produce and spices. Every time I go I get the ban mi sandwich and a Bloody Mary. Yum. They have so much to look at and buy, this place is one of St. Louis's treasures.

Misty S.

Yelp
This market is large with lots of vendors, food as well as other merchandise. The produce are fresh and good quality and reasonably priced. Some vendors have huge bags of salad (primary iceberg and romaine mix) for $1. That was the deal of the day! Things I saw: fruits, vegetables, meat, jerky, plants, brown eggs, wood, chickens, chocolates, bakery, spices store, tea and coffee store, coffee shop, gourmet cookies, vegan stand, popcorn, smoothies, clothes, baskets, essential oils, mini donuts, jewelry, clothes, beer vendor (no boob money accepted), pasta, and hot food vendors. I was a little sad that the beignet stand was closed the day I happened to visit. .|\---/| | o_o | .\_^_/..2021

Yelp
We've been coming to Soulard Farmers Market for 20 years. Lots of great vendors. However there are fewer local farmers than ever. I'm sure the pandemic has cut reduce the number of people making it harder for a small farmer to make a profit. The ones that were present on our minds st recent trips have wonderful fresh produce. Juicy ripe tomatoes, corn, peppers and the fall produce is starting to appear. Other sellers have bulk produce. But advertising farm fresh asparagus in Missouri in September is disingenuous. The bakery goods are really worth buying as is most of the meat sold here. Soulard Spice is a mainstay with a wide self spices, coffee, tea and other items. There are a number of sellers with craft and herbal products. In short it's still well worth your time to shop here. I hope the pandemic impact will diminish and we see more local farmers again in the future.

Yelp
I happened on to Soulard Farmers Market in Saint Louis COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT - and wow what's a find!!! This is exactly why I advocate for building down time into a travel schedule, and being flexible & "rolling with it," so that when you discover something really super cool you'll have the bandwidth to take it in! I discovered the Soulard Market while in the neighborhood to visit "Pieces..." a Saint Louis restaurant that boasts over 1000 baked games available for patrons! Whether alone, in a group, or as a couple (actually would be a GREAT first - or later - date place - something to do if the conversation is nervous you know - and if the market is going across the street a good place to stroll, look at stuff & talk!). But now a little helpful history: this is one of the oldest farmers markets in North America and going back over 240 years to a open air farm market that started in 1779! WOW that's almost a quarter of a millennium- a REALLY long long time! The current location dates to 1838 and the selling hall we see today was constructed almost 100 years ago. Just think of all the tomatoes, sugar cane, farmers, shoppers, families & romances that have developed in this iconic place - really brings it to vivid life when you think about it!!! So what do you see when you go inside Soulard Market? Vendors & merchants of all kinds, selling not just an extremely wide variety of the freshest of produce, but other sorts of items as well and at incredibly affordable prices. It is no wonder to me on reflection that Saint Louis has some fantastic restaurants with all this readily available bounty. It has a fantastically old familiar feel to it, almost like you've stepped into another era. And the smells, the smells - so fresh and aromatic. I selected some fresh bread to take back home to Ohio from the stall run by Mauki's Store. I was given a dining menu by the man operating their stall, but sadly I didn't have enough free time to visit their restaurant while in town. I will be making a return trip sometime, hopefully soon, to Saint Louis - I fully intend to follow up on this discovery for brunch. Their bread travelled quite well and was amazingly flavorful - I ate the last piece this morning YUM!!! - if the rest of their restaurant offerings are half as good I'll bet Mauki's is probably a real winner! My vote is firmly two thumbs up for a visit to Soulard Farmers Market. Even if you buy nothing, it's definitely worth taking a stroll through an icon of American history & thinking about all the people who came through those great big doors before you.

Yelp
Oh I'm so surprised. Looking at pictures, this place looks okay but the amount of variety in this farmers market is fantastic. Came on a weekend and it was quite crowded, unfortunately not everyone was wearing a mask, but still had a great experience. Here are some of my favorite things: - Shop owners are so nice and are so willing to let you try things. Yes they still give free samples which is not the most sanitary thing in the world, but there's that if you are interested. - The variety here is amazing. Even within vegetable stands there are so many different kind. There's also a beignet shop, soap shops, jewelry shops, etc. just to name a few. - The farmers market is actually quite long which is really nice and you could spend a solid 30-45 minutes here if you would like. - Best people watching place! Overall, so surprised by this farmers market and looking forwards to coming back soon! Not bad St Louis, not bad :)

Mrs L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. It's pretty central to the neighborhood's vibe and it's really cool to see how long it has been around.

LaWanda N.

Yelp
A MUST visit whenever we visit our hometown of East St. Louis, IL! This place never, ever fails!!! You can literally find anything you're seeking in the way of fresh produce as well as many other gems. We absolutely loved the fresh lemonade shop, the popcorn (kettle/butter mix & cheese & red hot riplets mix), and let me not for the Bloody Mary, absolutely delish!

Jason P.

Yelp
Soulard Farmers Market is a St. Louis, time honored tradition. It is such an important part of the fabric of our history. Not only does the market offer a vast quantity of locally sourced produce, Soulard Farmers Market is also a hub of the community. Throughout the year there is cultural programing in the square at Soulard Farmers Market, and I've made so many amazing memories there. From Mardi Gras celebrations to dancing the night away during the Hispanic Festival, Soulard Farmers Market represents the varied tapestry of the city of St. Louis! Soulard Farmers Market also offers a one-stop weekend afternoon venue for all your cooking needs. Especially during the holidays you can easily find spices, meat and fresh produce to make hosting a breeze. One of the best things to mention about Soulard Farmers Market is the reasonable prices. You can often find great deals on everything you need. And the historic Soulard Farmers Market is just an added bonus as you shop! Parking can be a bit of a bully on weekends, but check for spots east of Broadway and be sure to look both ways when crossing the street as motorists zoom through red lights.

Kimberly A.

Yelp
I went last year, February 2022, and had a great time. Not so many vendors but considering the season it was fun still. Wonderful full line bakery that was truly fabulous. They took up one whole side. Almond paste in the croissant was generous with plenty of almonds. Other breads were like artisan. I had also bought some fresh eggs from a farm stand. I was looking forward to going back this February 2023 but the experience was not as good. Sadly, the bakery had retired. They were just the best. Then the avocados I bought from a farm stand were ALL brown when I cut them open at home. I did order Cajun food from one of the restaurants which was really good. As always there's other things like crafts and oils if you're into it. Would I recommend? Maybe....for the cajun food.

Brandie F.

Yelp
The vendors are tentative. Since a child there's been buzz on getting to this market. As an adult I frequently find fruits and vegetables and other foods preferred.

Alonzo A.

Yelp
Is this a farmers market or what?!?! Cooked food, fresh food, prepared food and errrrrrthang in between. What a freaking delight. Crowded but the crowd moves around. Great spot for fresh produce and seafood. Bring cash fo sho. I walked around for over an hour and wasn't bored one bit. So much to please everyone. Parking is a pain, probably best to park far away from the market and walk. Or better yet, take an Uber or Lime scooter ;)

Ashley B.

Yelp
I love this farmers market!! One of the only farmers markets I have found in St. Louis that has so many fresh fruit and vegetable options!!! There are also a lot of restaurant booths so you can get lunch here too :) and they have drink stands so you can sip while you shop. Also a lot of booths for non food items! Very diverse. And it is covered which is nice because a storm rolled through!

Michael S.

Yelp
Still active during COVID and largely unchanged by it. It's difficult to social distance here with the crowds that fill the market and cram the small stalls and shops. Masks required.

Michael B.

Yelp
Great way to spend your Saturday! You must try Freddie Lee's Ghetto Sauce!!!! We like the spicy sauce! Plus the major privilege to visit with the great vendors like at Freddie's booth. The bloody Mary's make for great start. Excellent produce and other treats. We frequent here for the excellent quality of products and to support local businesses.

Leslie C.

Yelp
Good deals friendly people. Inside and outside deals and good food. I enjoyed eating at saint louis cheese steak. It was awesome!

Earl S.

Yelp
Soulard seems pretty quiet on a weekday afternoon. I wandered around. It was not too crowded. There was only one fruit and vegetable stand open. There are some very nice restaurant spots and coffee and spice shops that seem very popular. It's a very nostalgic place. I tried Cajun food and it was so good. I got an all beef hotdog and a small side of Jambalaya, which was so meaty and flavorful. Parking is paid via the Park Mobile app just outside and is ample. It's a pretty cool spot on the center of downtown.

Steven M.

Yelp
My last review seems to have been randomly deleted by Yelp as happens occasionally. I am not a big fan of the Soulard Farmer's Market. If you don't have nostalgic feelings about going there then I don't think you'll find much to write home about. If you have a look at quite a few of the reviews here they start off with "I remember I used to come here as a kid with my grandma". It's a glorified farmer's market with not much going for it besides the usual. The only huge difference between this and any other farmer's market is the inside which has a good bakery, a good spice store, and a nice meat store. That's basically it. The rest is filled with ten stalls of exactly the same fruits and vegetables at pretty much the exact same price, some incense, hats, and homemade soap. I'm simplifying things but not over exaggerating. I have to admit that some of the fruits and vegetables are at a good price. If you have an extra twenty minutes and you have nothing to do by all means come and look at a stall selling rugs, but I wouldn't say make a special trip. This, really, is just for a trip down memory lane.

Margarita F.

Yelp
My new go-to spot in the area! Soulard Market is a bustling home of produce and local eats. You can buy some peaches while sipping on a Margarita (only $3!)or trying out some Cajun food. The market is open Wednesday through Saturday. While there are much fewer vendors on Wednesday (only around 9 I think), the prices seem lower. On a Saturday it's a full party! Added bonus is that they sell yummy local cheese for very competitive prices.

Erin Z.

Yelp
On a recent trip to St. Louis, our Airbnb was located in Soulard. Which so happens to have this lovely farmers. And since I love farmer's markets I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to check it off my list. We arrived early and the place wasn't very busy. Most vendors were setup but some were still putting out their wares or starting to heat up foods. We started out with bloody mary's at Julie's Market Cafe. While they weren't the best bloodies we ever had they were a good start to our day. After that we walked through the open air aisles checking out the vendors offerings. There was a wide range of fresh produce, eggs, meats, spices, and finished goods. They are also prepared foods and beverages for purchase. This farmer's market also has an inside space with some additional vendors. I thought that was unique compared to other markets I've been to. Overall we sampled some foods and enjoyed a coffee. My boyfriend even purchased some pickled giardiniera to bring back home. If I lived in the area I'd definitely come here to shop. Though as a tourist if we hadn't been in the area I'm not sure we would have visited.

Katie S.

Yelp
Went on a Friday and there wasn't much going on. I'm writing this review because it's the only outlet to let people know that some of these vendors are VERY shady! I've experienced this in the past with vendors insisting on picking out my fruit and then getting all the way home with rotten produce. If you just really hate going to the grocery store where the produce is actually bought then I guess come here and buy your food for double the price. Otherwise, just come here for the bloody Mary's and go have lunch in the area. This market is awful. St. Charles market is much smaller but the people are WAY nicer and the goods are ACTUALLY homemade or homegrown.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
THIS IS MY NEW EVERYTHING! I keep asking myself "Why was I going to a grocery store in STL when I could've spent more time at this market??!" Do you need handmade pasta? - Got it. A varietal display of fresh produce? - Got it. Herbs and spices? - Got it. Medicinal plants? - Got it. Cheeses, scrumptious sauces? - Got it. Baked goods? - Got it. Grassfed butter? - Got it. Magical tonics and elixirs? - Got it. Soaps and lotions? - Got it. Freshly trapped beaver meat? - ummm yep got it. It's winter and I'm told there were hardly 50% of all vendors AND I WAS STILL IMPRESSED. I cannot imagine the splendor aplenty that summer at the market holds. *dreamy eyes* And...the prices are friendly on any budget. We walked away with enough food to last 4 people a week-- under $50. Bring your own bags, please. The sea of plastic is a bit much for this eco-conscious buyer.

Amanda C.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Saint Louis. Perfect mornings would include a stroll through the Market with a beer from Julia's in one hand and a chicken on a stick in the other. All while looking at the beautiful flowers from the flower man. The market is a great family friends past time with lots of people watching. The earlier you go the more busy it is. That makes it harder to push the stroller. But also perfect for a later morning start with your honey to pick up some needed treats. Also don't forget to stop by the spice shop - Best tip...... get the greek!!

D B.

Yelp
a must go on a saturday in STL. Lively place, historic, the most beautiful neighborhood! the market is HUGE! and even though i couldn't buy produce or meat, there were plenty of treats and booths that had lotions, plants, baked goods, bracelets, etc. many items that travel well. can't wait to go back!!!! get a cold brew and a treat and check out the soulard neighborhood!

Shelby Z.

Yelp
We were looking to kill some time in the area, so we decided to walk around this farmer's market. It made for something fun to do on a warm, sunny day. This market is a bit on the smaller side, but has a lot of little areas to go through. There are some pretty nice products for sale, and even some little food stands. There were also so random "Why the heck is this here?" type of tables, like ripoff junk. It's a nice place. I did not buy anything so I cannot speak for the products themselves, but it is a nice area to browse around.

Sebastian D.

Yelp
Went to the market with my service dog and partner, and while it was very cute and cool I was denied access based on my service dog. The security guard stopped me and asked for some sort of ID or certification which isn't required under the ADA. As a service dog user, I can be asked two questions. 1) is that a service dog, and 2) what does the dog do to mitigate your disabilities? I wasn't asked either question, and was denied entry because I didn't have some fraudulent fake certificate or tag that you can buy off Amazon. I won't be back until this place changes their policies to be legal, as being denied entry was illegal under federal law.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Love the spice shop! This is a great place to walk around for the day. Open year round!

Tiffany W.

Yelp
A great farmers market - fresh produce, baked goods, prepared foods, jewelry and home decor. Lots to explore. I picked up some exotic fruits, warm candied nuts, and freshly ground coffee to enjoy during my STL visit. A good rainy day activity - fully covered open air market.

Janet L.

Yelp
I went there for a cheese burger, I don't know if the lady cook was having a bad day but she refuse to make my two cheeseburger that she sells on the menu. First she Told me to come back in twenty minutes, I came back in 30min and she still said no to the two cheeseburgers. They were rude and disrespectful. Why was I refused two cheeseburgers that you clearly sell on your menu. Take your money to Norton... why better food and the people don't refuse paying customers.

Eileen C.

Yelp
Have everything you could imagine! Got a PINK PINEAPPLE for just $15 (normally over 50) and it was amazing. So many friendly employees. Loved it here

David W.

Yelp
Something I've been coming to for years. Very interesting. Old school open market open year round. How many places can you buy raccoon or a whole hogs head. Lots of places to have a bite to eat or get some vegetables. Must see.
