Gina is one of the worst instructors. She doesn’t even ride the bike. She then spent time complaining about politics and her therapist which has nothing to do with the class I paid for. We aren’t here to be your therapist, Gina. And we don’t care about your political beliefs. Maybe focus on doing your job instead of 1) not riding the bike 2) lazily having us ride in the dark, 3) not curating a good workout, and 4) not instructing (which is what an instructor does). I honestly just did my own workout the entire class and did better than listening to her.

Google
Review for instructor, the facilities are amazing: I am unsure why Gina is leading a class, especially after more reviews criticizing her class. I usually loooove soul cycle, but today I took the most mediocre cycling course ever here at Soul Cycle Santa Monica. The instructor was late and did not even ride the bike herself (another girl was riding for her). There was little to no choreography and she would have us sprint in the dark for minutes, which honestly just seemed lazy on her part. The music wasn't awesome either. She didn't even lead a stretch. At the end she said "thank you, New Yorkers" which seemed odd because we're in Santa Monica. If this were my first Soul Cycle class, I would not return. If I did not buy the unlimited pass, I would say Gina's class is not worth the money. Thankful that I know how great the classes can be. Will not be taking a class with Gina ever again.

Google
Soul cycle has always been 10/10. The energy and atmosphere here are like no other. I tried a few more cycling classes in the area, and would cycle is by far the best one I’ve tried. Their trainers are all great, the bikes are in excellent condition, and the music is fire. The facility is clean, and the people at the front desk are super attentive and helpful. If it’s your first class, you get the cycling shoes for free. Parking- free 90 minutes parking at the lot on 4th street (4th & Wilshire, right near T-Mobile), plus street parking by the meters.

Google
fun place to workout.. for me it was awesome. I really enjoyed the classes and I am planning on doing as many as I can.

Google
I used to love soulcycle back in the beginning (back when kym non stop was an instructor). I came to class today for the first time in a while at this location. I came knowing I would have to modify class because I’m injured at the moment. But I still showed up, excited for class. Lisa came up to my bike, was incredibly aggressive and showy for the rest of the class to notice, and cranked up my resistance. It was in a very condescending way. Rude. Will not be coming back. Go elsewhere!

Google
Soul Cycle Santa Monica is the best. My favorite teacher there is Hana, she is incredibly kind, friendly and not to mention a talented teacher who will both push and support you. Her music is fun and her energy is unmatched. 10/10 recommend Hana’s class!

Google
It’s been a minute since I took a SoulCycle class and was ready to get back on the bike and so glad I did! Maisy was the instructor and taught THE BEST SoulCycle class I have ever taken. Not only did she have a shazam-worthy playlist but brought the best energy and made sure everyone was set up properly and pushed the entire class to the limit! No better feeling than SoulCycle endorphins! Cant wait for my next class!

Google
Typically I have a sanctuary experience at SoulCycle where I’m able to decompress and really be mindful to get the best out of my workout but my bike was completely off (bike 28) with cracking noises and instability with my pedal at Pixie’s class. I found the front desk to be dismissive of the fact of my experience when I gave them a heads up of the bike issue and was furious to learn that someone who had taken a double class claimed that bike had done the same noise earlier in the previous class. I genuinely didn’t feel like I had a class because I battled between feeling that I could be harmed vs working out. I’d be open to discussing this review further because I believe I deserve a refund.

Yelp
Let's just say--I love coming here every time. The staff there are the sweetest, and Cate is truly the best. I just started coming here about two months ago, and it's become my Sunday morning ritual. It's easy on my knee, which I injured back in 2020, so wearing a brace is a must. I love taking Rob's class because it's engaging and fun. He challenges you, and I come out of that class sore for days. I'm not the fastest rider, but you can always modify by adding more resistance. The restrooms are clean and spacious. They welcome you with open arms and celebrate all milestones--whether it's your first ride, your 50th, or even your birthday.

Yelp
This soul cycle location is one of my favorites!! The bathroom is huge (definitely recommend taking advantage of their nice showers). They also have very cute merch to purchase (if it's in your budget, soup cycle merch tends to be $$). Lots of nice food places to grab a bite after nearby! Staff is also very friendly!

Yelp
Just took my very first class at Soul Cycle and I had a great time!! Everyone was super helpful and welcoming. Facilities seemed clean and there are lots of amenities. I signed up using class pass. Allison was the best and was super motivating! I definitely want to come back!

Yelp
Honestly, I get it. It's a cult. Extremely high prices, good classes, but I constantly felt like the giant fan was going to cut my head off. The bikes are dated. It's not as clean as you would expect it to be but they have many devout worshipers. Good for them but I definitely preferred Flywheel. So sad that they shut down. So many great instructors were made there - shout out to Brandon Anthony and Lacey Stone . Life changers. Movers and shakers. I never connected with an instructor at SoulCycle ‍.

Yelp
Now I know what all the hype is about! First time here and loved it! I'm an avid cyclist who rides 100-200 road miles every week. I was not sure what to expect. I heard it was a cross between riding and dancing. I will admit I was a bit nervous. I wasn't sure I'd be able to follow along and/or keep up. Much to my surprise, I had an amazing time and great workout. No issues following along or keeping up. You can make self-adjustments to make it easier/ harder for yourself. I went to the Survivor 1-hour class with Madeline. She was awesome. She was energetic and motivating. The room was dark, light were flashing and everyone was hypnotically spinning along to the beat of loud playing, heavily-based music. I felt like I was I back in college at a rave party with a contact high. ;) By the end of the class, I was drenched in sweat and my endorphins were jumping. They provide towels, gel cushions (upon request) and have shoes to rent. The pedals are two-sided (Look clips on one side, spd on the other). I was able to use my own shoes so I don't know the cost of the rentals. Lockers in the hallway with self-programmable locks were available for use at no cost. The spin room and the shower/restrooms were immaculate. Parking is available in two-pay lots in front and to the side of the building. They validate for 75-90 minutes, depending on the lot. This will NOT be my last Soulcycle class!

Yelp
I love SoulCycle, Grace is my favorite instructor. She is an amazing instructor who cares about the program and music, it's always a great class. I highly recommend trying Grace's class!

Yelp
The staff was very friendly, they helped me with the shoes gave me water they all had good energy loved the instructor he had my whole body sweating. I'll definitely return to this location.

Yelp
Was my first time at SC since Covid where the classes were outside. 90 minute Thanksgiving ride was awesome! The facility is very small and gets crowded fast. It's nice they have towels and soaps for showers if you want to clean up after an intense session. The only unfortunate experience was with another rider who was very rude to me, especially on Thanksgiving as you'd expect ppl to be respectful--and they say to be respectful during class! I was waiting to fill my water bottle and even looked at this woman who was removing her spin shoes on the ground. I proceeded to the fountain but she sprung up with one shoe on and one off to rudely tell me she was waiting in line. I wanted to reply but chose to refrain as I didn't want to get into a Thanksgiving argument, stooping to her level. Unfortunately, her attitude was very smug and entitled, kind of the stereotypical vibe that I was afraid of. People need to be kinder and understand if you're on the floor removing your shoes a good distance away, have a little patience and wait. The staff was very helpful, courteous and patient. They are very accommodating with new riders and didn't give me an ounce of attitude as I struggled with basic instructions to set up my bike. The instructor was very cool and even said goodbye to me on the way out. I liked how the instructor ran a tight ship, not letting ppl leave during stretch. It's refreshing to see some decorum and not a literal free for all. The workout was awesome which is really the point!! I typically run, row and use the elliptical but this class was something that really got my heart rate elevated without feeling like I was going to pass out. Thank you for an awesome Thanksgiving and I won't let another rider mar my experience. That's part of life and we need to be adaptable.

Yelp
My home studio is Manhattan Beach but I gave SAMO a try yesterday and it's just steps from Palisades Park, where I got to do pre class stretches with an ocean view. Inside this location there is a nice lounge area if you are there extra early and don't want to wait outside or in the locker room just yet. The retail space is huge, and there's soooo much locker space which has designated areas for men's lockers and women's lockers with a big separation in between. However, I noticed there is no charging ports inside the lockers themselves like in Manhattan Beach, but there's several places to charge your phone in the large bathrooms, which I didn't have an issue or concern with leaving my phone there to charge during class. So just a heads up to bring portable chargers if you prefer to have your phone in your locker. The crew and front desk staff were so attentive, helpful, and friendly as always, shout out to Zoe again for all your help! Looking forward to cycling here again :)

Yelp
Great location with friendly employees and clean studio. 90 mins of free parking in the garage across the street. Gina is the most fantastic instructor. Her music choices are fun and unexpected and her amazing inspirational words are exactly what I need to hear!!

Yelp
While I miss the indoor studio oh so much, I do love the outdoor arrangements that Soul has made for us on the top level of Santa Monica place. What a cool vibe...

Yelp
My first SoulCycle experience! Good energy from the instructor and a solid playlist. Front desk was friendly and the facility and bikes were in excellent shape. Plenty of lockers and benches to change your shoes and store your stuff. A 45 min workout time was solid, but might opt for a longer class next time. Even as a noob it was fairly easy to follow along and low stress getting started.

Yelp
Great experience. 1st Soulcycle class. Hard and very sweaty but extremely empowering. The staff and facilities are great. Instructor is so positive, energizing and fun! Music is a loud but you can get earplugs at the front desk if needed.

Yelp
I came here for a networking event (I know right!!!) with some of my coworkers on a Thursday evening. It was my first time at SoulCycle. I had done other spin classes previously. The staff in the front are hit and miss. They more or less got me the basic info when I came in: initialing next to my name, waiver, station number, shoes. I had to separately ask for water. My friend signed in and they didn't give her anything after she signed the waiver--she had to go back and ask for shoes, water, etc. The facilities are nice, but really small. Huge pour-in of people right before the class starts, and can get overwhelming as it's difficult just to walk through the hallways. Showers are nice, but again, really crowded. There's face cleanser, Q-tips, spray deodorant, hair ties, razors, body lotion, shaving cream, hair dryers... But no makeup wipes! You can't just wear your regular sneakers. The SoulCycle bikes have special shoes that you need to be latched onto to ride, so you need to rent cycling shoes from them. The shoes I had to get from SoulCycle SMELLED. Awful. Definitely a lot of foot odor. I know they spray down the shoes with disinfectant after or whatever, but I got a giant whiff just from touching the velcros with my hands. Bring the crappiest socks you have and aren't afraid to toss, because you'll probably not want to rewear or even wash them after the class. If you have some time to kill before the class, I'd walk through the Promenade and buy some socks at H&M or Forever 21, because the SoulCycle socks are $14. I asked the staff, they aren't even special socks. They're just socks. Also make sure someone gets you set up on the bike and latched in. Two of my friends had issues with the bike not continuing to spin, and not getting completely latched onto the bike (so one foot was hanging because it's not strapped in). This makes your entire workout miserable because the instructor is in the front, doesn't walk around because the room is so cramped, and it's also dark and damp, so not like you can see anything when you try to fix your station anyway.

Yelp
Helpful staff and amazing service by Mikalia! My best friend was visiting from Seattle just for the weekend and we wanted to take Pixie's class but failed to book both bikes. Once we figured out our mistake it was 2 hours before so we knew there was a HUGE possibility that we weren't going to be able to take the class together . We called right away and Mikalia answered the phone. She listened to me and completely put me at ease by assuring me she would do what she could for me NOT to miss the opportunity to take the class with my bestie since it was ALSO Pixie's class! She quickly booked me a bike close to her and was super engaging and sweet on the phone. Her fast response and desire for us to have a positive experience was so appreciated! Also- Pixie: IS AMAZING!! If you have the chance to take her class ANYWHERE she's teaching - GO FOR IT! Her inspiring words, positive approach on life, encouragement throughout the class, and awesome playlist leaves you wanting more! I am officially HOOKED!! Thanks for the positive experience, I'll be back!

Yelp
Where do I begin...I have worked and trained front desk staff and teams this is prob one of those in all my years experience I do not care for at all. I understand its soul cycle and all but the staff takes it like they are working for the pentagon. Maybe if they spend more time with the customers less with each other figuring out who's going to take the class. Taking the front row bikes that would be great. I have been to other soul cycles and this is by far my least favorite just because of the staff their customer service sucks. Guess what, you make minim wage and most of the clients pay your salary or hourly wage so the most you can do is be a litter nicer and brighter and act like you care. Also would help if you would turn on the light in the room while setting up the bikes and maybe some assistance instead of standing against the wall. I know you have this cult following and that may be why it's still in business but I don't see how with that staff and managerial team how on gods green earth you are goin to get new clients. Still my favorite is Flywheel! Great instructors and staff
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for a free class through work. I thought it was a great workout, but didn't enjoy how close the bikes were placed to each other. I also took the last class of the day, and if was super hot, but it felt like the ventilation wasn't great. The room also already smelled like sweat when I got in there! I guess that's to be expected when classes are scheduled so close together. If you've never done any type of spin class before, it may be hard to follow the instructions. I wouldn't recommend it for a first timer. Bonus: free hair ties!! I always forget to bring those.
google avatar

Darlene S.

Yelp
I have been to other cycling studios before but never like SoulCycle. It's an exhilarating experience with a super encouraging coach leading you through the class. I love how dark the room is and the wide variety of music they play during the sessions. I sweat so much and genuinely enjoyed it. Honestly if it weren't for the high price I would probably be doing this at least once a week. There's parking at the structure across the street (90 minutes free). Our instructor was so nice and helpful and truly made the class enjoyable by throwing towels and spraying us with water. He truly encompasses the whole mission of SoulCycle!
google avatar

Anna R.

Yelp
Terrible job messaging new COVID location and new policies. They are inflexible when it comes to crediting accounts. You can control how you communicate with people, even during tough times. Definitely not the SoulCycle it used to be.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm always a fan of SoulCycle...any location. The concept is the same, the style and the feel is the same. Every location has a fantastic staff and tons of clothing and accessories. BATHROOM: I love the bathroom here because in each stall, there's a small individual area for you to dry off and change, etc. No other locations, have that so you have to change out in the open with all the other ladies in the bathroom. LOCKERS: There are a looooot of lockers in this location! And most of the lockers are HUGE compared to other locations I've been at! I only wish it were like Hollywood's with the charger inside the lockers. Oh well! The size of the room here seems slightly smaller than what I'm used to...but I can't complain once I secure a bike! PARKING: Parking here is easy! There's a public lot that's literally across the street from the studio. The first 90 minutes are free and it's only $1 for each hour after that. TIP, TIP, HOORAY! -As usual, make sure that you're hydrated before, during, and after classes! -Have a light snack about 20 minutes before your ride. -If you're new, arrive 15 minutes earlier so that a friendly staff member can set you up just right! -They've got a great amount of amenities there, so shower and freshen up! SOULCYCLE LIFE! FIND YOUR SOUL!

Yelp
Everyone says that SoulCycle is dangerously addictive, and if it wasn't for the high price tag, I would be the first to admit I have a problem. I love these classes, from the spotless studios to the friendly front desk staff to the amazing music. It's right up my alley and I feel like I get a better workout in 45 minutes than I do in an hour and a half at my gym sometimes. I will say that your experience will vary based on the instructor (as with all classes). The first time I went I had a very intense female instructor (whose name I unfortunately can't remember). She was fine and very motivating in the drill sargeant way, but she kind of yelled too much into her mic so it was hard to understand, and she made it more intense than light and fun. The second time, I took an early class with Patrick, and he was incredible. Just the right amount of energy, perfect tone of voice, great music... it takes a lot to put me in a good mood at a 7am class, and he succeeded. This is the first on my list of places to splurge on when it comes to working out, but unfortunately there's no way I can justify coming in very often when I already have a gym membership with spin classes. But I WILL say that SoulCycle is head and shoulders above any regular old spin class and worth the money - check it out for yourself!

Yelp
Took the 930am class and it definitely woke me up! The class itself was really fun and energetic. I've never been to a spin class...or any class for that matter where the lights are all off. I actually enjoyed it because I felt like you could do your workout without feeling like you're being watched by other people in the class. I really enjoyed the music and instructor. The location is a burden because of the parking. There is street parking but it's probably best to park in the garage across the street (first 90 min free). The inside of the studio is super clean and they provide you with a locker and towel. These classes are a great workout and I can see why so many people are addicted. The seats of the bikes are super uncomfortable...but it definitely makes you get off your butt! The first class is $20 and each class after is $30.

Yelp
Today was my first spin class ... ever. Probably chose a bad day because I was sitting on my seat the entire time. Why? I was sore from another class I took 2 days ago. But, I promised my cousin I would go, so there you go! Took Alba's class today. She was seriously so great! I was feeling her energy and wish I was able to participate more. I kept staring because she was just so inspiring to watch. I was getting tired just looking at her! Although I have nothing bad to say about the actual class, I did take one star away because, since it was our first class, we got an email to arrive early so the staff would help us with out seat and getting comfy. Well, no one helped my cousin or I, so I wasn't comfortable the entire time. In addition, I didn't know how to snap in my shoes till 3 minutes in. And I didn't want to raise my hand at that point. Oh well. I'll try it again when my body is ready for it. Definitely helped my soul today.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
OMG, Patrick is off the hook! Lucked out and got a spot in the *free* community ride and had Patrick for the first time. If his class doesn't wake you up and get you energized at 6 a.m., something is seriously wrong with you. Intensity + amazing music + Patrick's personality = best . workout . ever. Only reason there isn't a 5th star is the price...come on, drop it down a little!

Yelp
I love spinning and have checked out a lot of other spin studios. I honestly think SoulCycle really does the best job out of all the studios I've tried. There's a reason why they started the spin craze and cost so much. Every class I've taken has been solid. The bikes are pretty packed and the ass of the person in front of you is literally on your handlebars, but real estate is at a premium so I can't really complain much about that.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
PIXIE FANATIC. love the staff and vibes at Santa Monica specifically. Parking is sometimes a little complicated but I try to park in the lot across the street or find street parking right in front!

Yelp
I have to say it loud and clear " I love Soul Cycle practice ! and I give a lot of the credits to the instructors!". I usually take a Soul survivor practice with Michael M in SAMO and also a few times with Devin in Pasadena when I can. I always leave Soul Cycle practice with a big grin across my face. I am not your most athletic person by far but I am always happy to give this practice my best shot. The instructors are enthusiastic, and charismatic and encouraging. And you gladly want to follow their lead. I had never done cycling before Soul Cycle. I am very certain Soul Cycle will be part of my workout routine going forward. Yes the music is great and this helps with the pain because this practice is strenuous . but the whole experience is FUN ! Just try it!
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
My go to cardio once a week! It's definitely a hard work out and you will leave sore and soaking sweat. If this is you're first time, I would recommend coming 20 before class starts and let them all know that you're NEW! This is crucial because if you come late then you're going to be lost and overwhelmed like me. I was having a heart attack because I couldn't get the bike adjusted and I couldn't get my shoes locked in when class was starting! The music is loud and it really gets you pumping. I love the instructors also! They really get into the class every time which is awesome. There is no membership and each class is $30. It's expensive but it definitely makes me push harder to get my money's worth!
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
I took the Friday morning class with Franz - he's the kind of instructor that makes your ride less intense and more fun, so it really depends on what you prefer. SAMO is in a great location, definitely stop by sweetgreen for a salad post-ride :) Free 90-min parking in the structure across the street!

Yelp
Omg I loved the 45 minute spin session here!! It's always hard to find classes that will push, motivate, and challenge you (that you really look forward to.) I've always been a fan of spin classes. I've tried at different gyms but SoulCycle takes it to a different level. Now I understand why it's cult-like. This particular Santa Monica location is near the promenade and right by the beach. The clientele was somewhat intimidating as a lot of girls were half dressed, looked gorgeous, and all seemed to know each other. I signed up for a Thursday late morning class the night before and was thoroughly surprised it wasn't sold out based on my experience with Flywheel (competitor) in NY. The single class is $25 and since it was my first time I got spinning shoes for free. Regularly $3 to rent. The class was about 95% full and like many spin classes they dim the lights (candles lit) and get the music pumping loud. There are tons of staff members and the instructor is friendly to make sure your seat is correct and you feel good. Again I can see why they call it SOUL cycle as my instructor Ben was so motivating with a bunch of push its and let's go (with the beat of course.) I love how there are weights incorporated and you are out of your seat and using your upper body to push off a lot. Gets the whole body engaged. The music was incredible!! Most of it hip hop like Fu**cking Problems and EDM like Clarity. So once you are done you are DRENCHED!!! In terms of amenities: - code lockers so you don't have to bring a lock - full service lockers with bags for your sweaty workout clothes - hair ties, blow dryer, deodorant, face wash, etc. I really hope they open more locations in Nor Cal soon!! Right now it's only in Marin but I see the website say SF and Palo Alto. Can't wait.

Yelp
I went in for my second class at SoulCycle this morning because as much as I hate to admit it, I'm a sucker for punishment. ;) To the extent that my wallet got $25 lighter, my legs, on the other hand, felt heavier like lead after class. I mean that with the utmost positivity and excitement. I loved Sunny's uber motivational and inspirational way of teaching...it's almost like being in a yoga class but on bikes. I realize that that's an odd analogy. In any case, I just wanted to give Sunny a shout out for another glorious 45 minute sweat fest. The dance-lover in her is a wonderful element that she contributes to the class. Love, love, love! P.S. I totally forgot that I needed to pay for shoe rentals now that I've used up my new student privileges. Expect to incur an additional $3 charge when you get to the studio for shoes!

Jeana P.

Yelp
I love SoulCycle and this studio does not disappoint, its just different than my regular one. Its bigger than the neighboring Brentwood studio, by about 20 bikes. Depending on where you ride, the bikes can feel a little too close together. On the weekends, riders tend to congregate in the entry way post ride, (that doesn't happen in Brentwood) so its a little over whelming if you are trying to get in to the studio/locker area. I will say, I think SM gets more/different apparel than Brentwood, which is nice. The instructors I have taken that are here and not Brentwood are Micheal M. and Pixie. Both amazing instructors, I totally recommend checking out their classes.

Yelp
I feel like an official LA resident now that I've finally experienced the magic of SoulCycle! We were preparing to go to Coachella for the weekend and my girlfriend talked my boyfriend and I into a 7 a.m. Thursday class to get our awesome weekend started. I was a little hesitant before going because I've never done ANY cycling class, but I knew I'd be happy with myself after the fact so I was all in. The first thing I noticed upon entering was that it is very well lit and filled with people who were beaming with energy and smiles. The staff greeted us with enthusiasm, had us fill out a short consent form, and handed us complimentary smart waters and riding shoes. We put our items in a locker and stepped into the room. Each newbie is helped to set up their bike and given information about how to lock in and out of it. I have never experienced a workout so fun!! There is so much energy in the room it's almost tangible. Heather P. did such a great job leading the class and the music was perfect. The class seemed to fly by! I completely understand why it has such a cult-like following. I can't see myself doing it too often due to the price but I will definitely be back!

Yelp
After just a few classes, I think it's safe to say.. i'm addicted! Soul is the perfect place to go to relieve stress & for a real good sweat. IF you put work in, I guarantee you'll leave drenched. There's only one cycle room and the bikes are fairly close to each other but you actually have more room than you think. They have lockers and showers that you can use for free & this location is always stocked up with toiletries you may need during your visit: shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, lotion, razors, q-tips, etc. Oh & parking is super convenient. They don't have a private lot but you can park in lot 2 which is across the street & the first 90 minutes are free (:

Yelp
I've always wanted to go to a soulcycle, so when I got a chance to try a spin class and benefit a youth enrichment program, I was all for it. Sand Sisters held the event. They do youth enrichment programs and promote youth to live an active lifestyle. The place itself is very nice. They have many lockers and the bathrooms are stocked with anything you might need. The lockers have their own lock, so you don't need to bring a lock. Everybody is pretty friendly. The studio itself was VERY CRAMPED and very hot. I felt like sardines in a can. There is barely any space in between the bikes. Half the time when we were biking off the seat, I was scared my butt was in the face of the person in back of me. The room was hot, which I guess is better for the work out, but at the end I felt I was suffocating. The class itself was a workout and fun, but nothing special. The only thing that might be different from a spin class at the gym and here was that the instructor is a lot more energetic and passionate/ Honestly, I thought for $30 a ride you would get stats or something. I've been to cycle places that have stats about your ride, like how many miles, calories, speed, etc. It was fun, but I probably won't be back. + Clean - Too cramped

Yelp
I first went to SoulCycle Santa Monica about a year ago. My first class was with Jillian. She was the best. She inspired me, drove me to be better, and motivated the class to give their best. After my first class, Jillian took time to answer my questions, encourage me, and help me understand more about SoulCycle. Now, I'm a regular and I've lost about 10 pounds. Thanks SoulCycle.

Yelp
I drop in to spin classes whenever I travel and Lindsay's Sunday morning class is one not to be missed. She is truly one of the most talented instructors I've seen anywhere.

Yelp
The girls/guys here at SoulCycle Santa Monica are super nice and will help you with whatever you need or looking for! I have come to this location a few times and have always had a good experience. The instructors here are very motivating as well. Also, they have really good SoulCycle apparel if you can't find a certain size online.

Yelp
If you only care about the setting, it's a complete 5 rating. I had a great workout however, employees are rude and condescending. They do not offer to assist with your bike nor care to provide good customer service. Honestly I'm not going back there anymore, I traveled from Pasadena for the view expecting similar service and it was a complete disappointment. The first incident started when my friend and I booked the class, we weren't notified that the location change. We notice the "bitchy" environment from the get go from the ladies in the front nonetheless gave it a second try today. It was the same ambiance today and I would not recommend this location.

Yelp
I drank the kool-aid and kinda hate myself for it. I was in LA for a week and decided to finally cross SoulCycle off my list of fitness classes. The studio/location itself: I chose the Santa Monica location since it was the most easily accessible and I liked that there are nearby parking garages. The staff was very friendly when I called to book the class, but when it came down to setting me up on the bike, they seemed annoyed that they had to help me. I'm sure the intro price is the same as any other SoulCycle location ($20 first class with free shoe rental). The studio is a little bit stuffy, but the lobby area is clean. The locker room is decent with a good amount of amenities, but I would definitely bring some shower sandals since the floors were grimy and muddy. The workout: It was a workout, but I honestly didn't think it was any different from a regular spin class that I take at my gym aside from the kitschy lighting and dance club setting. I didn't think that the spin portion itself was that difficult, but the arm portion with free weights was killer. I left feeling sad because I wanted to love it, but I was pretty unimpressed. Would I pay $30 for this? Definitely not. Glad I tried it once but I won't be back.

Yelp
50ish minutes of thigh burning, jam pumping, hair whipping intensity. Warning: severe sweating will take place. Was intimidated by the hard-core celebrity endorsed reputation of Soul, but the Santa Monica location staff showed absolutely zero ounce of pompousness. They were kind, helpful, and probably more excited for you to be there than you are! While their reservation policy is super professional and strict, it's for good reason; once the class starts, there's no room for half assing it or trying to get acquainted with the equipment, so get there early and don't be shy to ask for help if it's your first time. Bonus: They provide 75 min. parking validation in the 120 Wilshire Building (through alley on south side of Wilshire, close to ocean).

Yelp
I love this studio! It has such positive energy. I've lost 5 lbs since beginning here. The front staff are warm & helpful. My favorite instructor is Maxie. Love her music & upbeat & intense class! The showers, bathroom & dressing area are clean & well stocked. Free parking across the street for 90 min.

Yelp
This workout will definitely kick the crap out of you. If I could give anyone a little bit of warning, you might want to practice on a bike first just to loosen yourself up before tackling this endeavor. Though you could just jump on and go, it takes a lot of leg work. The instructor that I had was sort of drill sergeant-ish and was barking orders at us the whole time. She wasn't mean, but she meant business. During the hour you'll be sitting on the bike, standing, doing crunches, some crazy yoga moves and lifting weights. It's non-stop and you'll be DRENCHED with sweat. I felt like I bruised some of my boy parts because of the accidental slamming in the seat. Ouch. They have gel seats for you to rent, too. Get one. You and your manhood (or lady parts) will thank you later. For your first class it's only $15, but then it gets much more expensive per session. If I lived closer, I might consider doing it a couple of times a month, but I don't think I would spend that much on bike classes all the time. The facility is super clean and they give you towels and water during the workout. You have to wear special shoes that clasp into the pedals. If you don't have them- they have some you can rent for $3. Not too bad. You feel like you're walking on inverted tap shoes. Don't arrive late. I was 3-minutes late and I was regretting it. You want to make sure you have enough time to put your stuff in your locker, get set-up on your bike properly and just prepare yourself for the intense workout that is to come. Parking is sort of a nightmare if you try to use the structure across the street. It's free for 90-minutes, but shares the same lot with Third Street Promenade. It was 1PM and I had to park on the roof (that's why I was late.) They do have a parking structure behind the studio, but I couldn't find it. I know they validate, too- but it's only for a short time as well. If you're up for the challenge, I would totally recommend doing it. I can see why people say it's so addicting, it's a killer workout and you definitely feel a difference once you step off that bike. Good luck!

Yelp
Hands down the best cycle class I have attended. Pixie is an artist. She truly transcends you into a different realm.

Yelp
I've been drinking the spinning kool-aid. I'm totally hooked. Which is insane for someone who runs a 12 min mile and thinks Cardio is right up there with being trapped in an elevator with a lactose intolerant man who just drank a milk-shake. Since I got dragged to my first spin class 2 weeks ago, I've been doing the rounds to try and find the best studio in LA. I've taken 7 classes in 4 different studios/locations including my work gym, flywheel, aura and now soul cycle. I had high hopes for soul cycle considering its the most expensive of the bunch (when you factor in the $3 shoe rental), they don't offer the first class free, and classes are booked well in advance by their cult like followers - all that hype has to be because of something right? So I was excited to finally get a spot at 6:30. First off, the bikes are SMASHED in the room. It is not stadium style like other studios so you are literally head to A$$ for rows on end. Luckily I got a seat on the sides, where it's only about 3 rows deep versus getting stuck in the back row 10 bikes back from the front. Second, it was a HOT AND MUGGY SWAMP LAND inside. I get it, you sweat when you spin, that's the point, it happens. But, there were fans along the cieling they never turned on and towards the end, the air was so heavy and thick with everyone's funky stink that it felt hard to breath. I almost got claustrophobic, and found myself praying for a breeze, even if it came from the chick whose business end was rattling 2 inches in front of my face the whole time. I don't know if it's the stadium seating or the more spacious layout or the simple act of kindly turning on the AC at other studios that made it so much better elsewhere, but if you want to feel like you are spinning for your life through 106 degree weather and 94% humidity in a marsh chased by crocodiles, then soul cycle may be for you.

Yelp
This place is wildly unsafe. I went as a first-timer, and they put you in the back. It was about 100 degrees with intense humidity. There were fans no one turned on. I basically felt like I was in a concentration camp with no escape. Pregnant women, you will lose your child because of this class. They put new people way in the back where it's even hotter and you can't leave if you're overheating. I literally almost passed out and felt off my bicycle and was never encouraged by the instructor to go at my own pace, nor could I even figure out how to unchain myself from the pedals to go actually breathe outside. To say I hated this experience is an understatement. It was torture.

Yelp
Ever wondered what it's like to go to a dance party at 9am in the morning? Welcome to Ben B's class. The locker / waiting area feels like high school all over again, girls in their lulu lemons chattering away excitedly, the hustle of everyone trying to get in and trying to get changed in time. Then they announce that the studio is open and you walk in. The room is dark, and the music is bumpin'... If you're a newbie, you might wonder if the lights come on when the class starts. It doesn't. It's like one big workout party and you're the star. For 50mins, you're literally cycling in darkness, with music blasting and your teacher pushing you to exceed all limits, physically and mentally. And some time during that 50mins, you pull out weights from your bike and burst into a 5min or so arm workout on your bike. It's an incredible, incredible mind body experience. Every teacher has their own style and brings a completely different experience to the class... Here are a few teachers I've taken: Ben B - He's personally my favorite. Because well, I'm a little wild and crazy like that. If you're twenty-something, a little crazy, and don't mind feeling like you're going to a dance party everytime you work out, you're going to LOOVE him. Sunny - She's very soulful, I love her classes when my mind needs restoration. The music is a little softer (not soft or slow but more soulful) compared to Ben's and really gives me the space to push myself while strengthening my mind with positive thoughts. Alba- I didn't really like her music, but that's just personally preference. Her music is a little more old school but, no doubt THE best arm series I've experienced. Laura- Loved her positive energy, her music was okay and her arm workout series is pretty nonexisistent but I still enjoyed her class and left with a little more positive of an attitude. Patrick - I took a coachella themed class with him and it was insane, one of the best mini dance parties in a while, I was actually considering starting to go to his regular classes. The music was on point, the crowd was young and enthusiastic (and dressed up in coachella gear, no less) and the choreography was enough to give me a great workout but not too much whereby I couldn't keep up. He reminds me kind of Ben B but I liked the music better today just because it was the coachella mix (I'll have to take another one of his regular classes to be able to judge music wise but I LOVED it nonetheless and truly came out drenched in sweat) Give it a try and I promise you'll come out feeling so strong and incredible, sweat drenched and loving it - with a renewed positive mind to carry out the day. It's truly a workout for the body but also for the soul (when you're pushing yourself that hard, 30mins in, I promise something in your mind just changes) I am also obsessed with all the soulcycle gear which they sell (the turn around is so quick, they practically disappear everytime they get restocked - you'd think it's a cult, just based on their following) and they rent out spin shoes for $3 if you're a newbie or just in town on holiday and want to get your workout on. There's free validated packing in the garage (you enter on Wilshire) too. Super easy. Couldn't ask for a better way to get my cardio in.

Yelp
I heard this place is awesome from a couple of people and I have to agree it was a super fun workout. Here's the rundown: The Workout. I would describe it as a jam session and that is really the perfect way to get your day going. The lights are turned down low and I was bangin' my head the whole time. Sunny was really a fun instructor. She describes her class as: "...It's not about perfection, it's about EFFORT!". Her vibe was positive and uplifting. The only part I didn't like was the "arms" sequence where you use salt & pepper sized 1 lb weights to do a Tracy Anderson style arm workout. I am all about lifting heavier these days and being on a bike doesn't really ensure the good form and stability I need with heavier weight - not for me. The Studio. The bikes are nice but they really cram you all in like sardines (I get it, rent in SaMo is expensive I'm sure). Smell ranges from fancy candles burning in the beginning, to raging muggy B.O. at the end of class. They need to bump up the ventilation!! The locker area is out in the open and there is Helvetica plastered on every wall with motivations sayings. Crowds of people rushing the lockers. Very modern and clean feeling. I quite liked the design. The Reception Desk. I can't seem to shake off the confusion as to why the service was so poor at the front desk. I tried calling to reserve my class a total of 3 times. On the other end was some flighty flimsy human that seemed all too busy to take my call. On one such call a guy actually told me he WAS too busy and to "call back later". Much to my chagrin, check-in was the same. I was expecting a 30 second orientation as they knew I was a new guest. Nothing. Just the employees chit-chatting among themselves with Starbucks in hand.... Le sigh. The Price: A wise man once said "Make a customer, not a sale." A $30 course is pretty steep if there is no real service to speak of. Cute workout stuff was also expensive but fun for a splurge. The Vibe: PretentiousAF
