Wanted to leave this review right away to make sure we could capture the experience! Do not sleep on this restaurant. First off we were greeted by Emma and had the pleasure to be waited on by Steve. We immediately felt like family and the energy was unmatched. The cabin-like atmosphere was so warm and the artwork on the walls really made it feel like home. To the food: We started off with the Lobster Wontons and they were delightful. The perfect mix of spice and warmth and we made sure to sop up the sauce with bread. Round two was the scallop special and we actually had to order more bread to make sure we didn’t leave any sauce in the plate. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the texture and freshness was second to none. Then came the filet mignon with the shiitake mushrooms, blue cheese and brandy with burgundy butter. The steak was as soft as the butter on top of it. Not only could you cut it with a fork but after tasting the sauce I had to ask my wife if we were dreaming. I asked for a straw so I could drink the rest of the sauce on the plate. As you could imagine we were stuffed and ordered dessert to go. We devoured the flourless chocolate cake and the bread pudding would have been the perfect breakfast if we didn’t finish it already! All in all, this was an outstanding experience being in Tahoe for the first time. It is the kind of restaurant you want to start traditions around.

The athmosphere in i this restaurant is fantastic. The starter (scallops) was 5/5 and main course was very good, but did not reach all the way to the top. Unfortunately the home made ice cream for the dessert had become icy and the choclate cake was not that good. But they did not hesitate to remove it from the bill and we were quite full anyway. Server Jessie B was very attentive and helpful. All in all a very good experience. Would go back here.

Atmosphere is cozy. Our waitress, Jess K, was lovely. Love that there's vegan options- and the soup of the day was so good. My husband loved the fettuccine and oatmeal cookie dessert! We also had the Thai curry no chicken and udon noodles. They had a lot of flavor and presentation was great but speaking only as a vegan with limited options, I don't know that I'd go back as the two noodle dishes I tried had more of a tart taste than I prefer. That said, my husband would absolutely go back to try other items! This establishment has been in operation for a long time and there's a reason so I'd recommend any first timers to definitely try.

Every dish is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The steak with chimichurri was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor, paired beautifully with crispy potatoes. The fresh fish was delicate and vibrant, topped with parmesan and herbs that elevated every bite. Even the sides and vegetables were seasoned and prepared with care — nothing felt like an afterthought Soule Domain delivers quality, consistency, and that special Lake Tahoe charm that makes a meal memorable. This is not just dinner — it’s an experience. If you’re in Tahoe and appreciate great food, warm hospitality, and a cozy alpine setting, this place is a must. Highly recommend. We will absolutely be back.

We love Soule Domain!!!! It’s my and my fiancé’s favorite date-night spot. We come here for all birthdays, anniversaries, whenever we have visitors in town, etc. or simply because we haven’t been in a few weeks! We are even having our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here later this year. 😊 Top quality service with such kind and thoughtful employees, the food is delicious, the wine list (and recommendations) is on point, and the atmosphere is so cozy and intimate. Everything from the complimentary soup to the local art on the walls is so intentional and adds to the experience. It’s an upscale restaurant with very reasonable prices for the quality of food you are getting. I actually don’t think you can find better quality of food for the price anywhere! I am vegan and my fiancé is not, so we have collectively tried probably the whole menu at this point (even off-menu vegan options - just ask!). I’m not usually a sorbet person but I don’t leave without getting the sorbet with ginger snap cookie (also vegan) & I’ve been told the non-vegan desserts are also delicious. The restaurant is definitely a rustic vibe, infused with cozy, decent and warm interior. The chief explain the daily specials and we ordered salad, dust and Ono fish, the plate is medium and looks just real fine. For the cuisine, the taste is not very balanced, the source is sharp which has the most credit and creativity! Overall it is a nice choose in the North Tahao :) *͈ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈ෆ

Fantastic sea food dinning restaurant. Would recommend for a date night or a one on one. Definitely will be coming back!

A Hidden Gem with Heart in Every Detail – A True Tahoe Experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After all these years working security across the street at the Crystal Bay Club, always looking across the border from Nevada into California, I finally got to step inside Soule Domain. I’ve watched this little cabin for decades—saw people walk out smiling, couples celebrating, friends laughing in the Tahoe air. Now I know why. Celebrating over 40 years of service (and do look it up—they’ve earned every one), this restaurant is more than just a cozy cabin tucked in Kings Beach. It’s a culinary institution that honors its location, its history, and its guests. We dined on the Halibut Panko Dill, Asian Salad with Pork Belly, Chicken (no mushrooms), Double Pasta Cream App Entree, Queen of Sheba à la Mode, and Crème Caramel Flan, among other exquisite bites. Everything tasted fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly portioned. The flavors were bold but balanced, and the cream pasta… let’s just say we’ll be dreaming about that one. Our server Jess was everything you want in hospitality: warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and simply kind. Her energy carried through the whole evening. And Aiden, the young gentleman who brought our waters and dessert menus, added an endearing and charming touch to the experience—even his struggle with French dessert pronunciation made us smile. That’s what Tahoe’s about: authenticity and warmth. You can dine inside the rustic cabin with its timeless vibes and carved totem pole out front—or enjoy the al fresco experience, which is a treat in itself during the Lake Tahoe summer. On June 22, 2025, the sun filtered through the trees just right, and the evening felt magical. We left full, happy, and grateful. Soule Domain is not just a meal—it’s a memory in the making. Class act all the way. Don't second guess yourself. If you are looking for an intimate experience with world class atmosphere, service, and menu, this is your place. It took us 20 years of living fairly local to visit. Our wedding anniversary was the catalyst. We wanted something special. We were not disappointed. We learned the day of our reservation that dear friends who were celebrating a birthday were also scheduled to dine that evening. At the last minute we changed our reservation to combine our tables. We were easily accommodated. I started with the diver scallops. They were exactly they way I hoped. Sometimes scallops can disappoint but these exceeded expectations. My husband went with the escargots which were not served in traditional shells and were tender and satisfying. Our meal came with a cup of roasted asparagus soup; earthy yet sophisticated. My filet mignon with blue cheese was the best I've had in years. The cut was on the larger side, tender and buttery. Other options at the table were the lamb chops, fettuccini with shrimp, fresh vegetables in puff pastry, and the fish of the day, dorado and panko crusted ling cod . We finished the meal with tasting all of the desserts. I loved the recommended bread pudding and the others fancied the raspberry lemon cheesecake, and ice cream and large oatmeal cookie. Steve was our server and a pure delight. We immensely enjoyed our conversation with him and he took very good care of us. We later learned after perusing the website that he is the manager and brother of Chef Charlie. There were many highlights of this evening. Steve was top in the ranking. He ensured we felt welcomed and like family. Everything was perfect. I can't wait to come back for another memorable experience.

Cute log cabin dining spot with traditional American fish, meat, and pasta dishes--some with Asian flavors that were hit or miss. 3.5 stars Food: 3.5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: no, but on their website Return worthiness: maybe Highlights: - Special fish: black cod was extraordinary. Was so tender barely needed my fork to touch it to get a piece off. The sauce was unique a lemon butter with garlic, dill and other flavors that worked so well together. 5 stars - Dessert: flourless gluten free chocolate cake with cream layers in between was great and tasted like a brownie. 4.25 stars - Petit pasta fettuccine: appetizer/kid portion. My teen ended up ordering 2 with chicken and enjoyed it. 4 stars - Entrees all come with cup of soup (asparagus fennel), mixed veg (carrots, zucchini, squash, asparagus), and starch (rice pilaf for some, potatoes for others). - Atmosphere: cute mountain log cabiny feel. - Bread: combo of a slices of French and one with carraway seeds. Refilled for our entrees to dip in the sauces. - Half bottles: had lots of options for wine. Midlights: - Filet: just ok and pepper sauce was extra spicy. 3 stars - For reservations, you can cancel online but not change. - Have to put your credit card in to reserve and if you don't cancel by 5 hours before, they will charge $25 per person. - When you reserve there are a fee options (backroom, downstairs fireplace, outside, etc.) but didn't know what either of them were like to choose. Lowlights - Scallops pork belly: didn't care for the red sauce and pork belly pieces were tiny cubes. Scallops were good. 2.5 stars - Lobster wontons: unpopular opinion as I did not care for this favorite of so many yelpers. Wonton skin was good but couldn't taste much lobster --mostly ginger. Broth it was swimming in was too vinegary. 2 stars Was good to try -- wish the other dishes were as stellar as my fish special.

I wish I could give more stars! This tony little spot encapsulates the true essence of Tahoe. The restaurant is housed in an old log cabin that dates back to prohibition. Charming and warm, you feel like you're walking into someone's home as the smell of fresh cut firewood blends with the pleasant aromas gently exuding from the kitchen. 10 or so tables, yet no infringement on the private conversations happening around you. A couple of days later and I'm still puzzled at how the setting allows you to feel as if you're in a private dining area. Although we were celebrating a birthday and anniversary, Soule Domain is too wonderful to "soulely" reserve for special occasions. Dining hear is a real treat and one you desire to experience with regularity. There were six of us and we started with escargot (Tahoe Style, which is shell-less), and fresh diver scallops, which were absolutely wonderful. For entrees, we ranged from lamb chops to filet, and from fettuccini with prawns to dorado and panko crusted ling cod. You can taste the care and the staff's devotion to their craft in every bite. After filling up on appetizers, roasted asparagus soup, and our entrees, we didn't have room for dessert.....yet we indulged anyway. We had to. With how everything else tasted, we threw our diets to the wind and ordered damn near everything on the dessert list to create our own little sampler. Meyer lemon and raspberry New York style cheesecake, cinnamon/pineapple/raisin bread pudding, homemade vanilla/almond/cinnamon ice cream with a fresh blueberry drizzle.... Can I say more? Yes....yes, I can. The service was just as exemplary as the dishes and courses we enjoyed. Our server and bus staff were experts...true professionals as wanted for nothing. The charm of the house matched the charm of our server. When you make your reservation, ask to sit in Steve's section.

What a perfect meal!! Service, ambiance and food were amazing. The special of the day appetizer consisted of 3 small scallops but every bite was mouthwatering! The complimentary onion soup was unbelievably good!! Both entrees were delicious and served piping hot. The desserts were excellent and the coffee was strong (and a perfect ending to a wonderful meal). Highly recommend if you are in the area!! It was really good!

Skip this place. Total tourist trap. The menu on their website is very different than the menu last night. The actual menu looked like it was haphazardly created by a teenager. It's mostly just a handful of proteins and a handful of different sauces, that they combine into ~15 permutations. And their signature sauce(jalapeno, cherry tomato, corn, meyer lemon, butter, cilantro & green onion) that was on many of the dishes wasn't very good. They literally had an entree with "sea scallops + pork belly + signature sauce" and then they had a nightly appetizer special of "sea scallops + signature sauce". It's pretty much the same thing. I will say that the scallops and mahi-mahi were both properly cooked. Now the sauce was still bad and a few of the scallops were gritty from being improperly cleaned, but they were cooked well. Props to whomever did that step.

Delicious with a menu that had an eclectic flair. The outside of the restaurant was absolutely beautiful. Cozy cabin decor with beautiful lighting. The service was good and the server was knowledgeable about each and every dish served. The menu was interesting as it didn't really follow a particular theme. Many of the dishes we ordered were delicious! One of the best restaurants in the North Lake Tahoe area. The raspberry mango sorbet was delicious! The menu itself could be improved to match the aesthetic.

Soule Domain Monday January evening 6:30pm Our group of 11 was able to book a reservation at 6:30pm on a holiday weekend. We snagged two of the very limited parking in front of the restaurant and made our way through the cute wood cabin decor lining the walkway. The interior is tastefully decorated. Our corner was lined with stunningly vibrant photography for sale. If I were driving I would have purchased one. Our waiter described the food and wine beautifully. We recommend the Truckee River pinot over the Chanzy Rully for a sweeter finish. We loved our food, especially the complimentary bread and hummus and butter, and curried cauliflower soup. I devoured my special entree of sole in lemon butter. Wonderful flavors, wonderful ambiance, wonderful service. 10/10 recommend!

Food was great. The wine bar was lovely and so was the host who sat us. Having been in the food service industry for many years, I felt that stacking the dishes at a fine dining restaurant was always considered to be in poor taste. Also, they had our waiter serving tables outside and then two tables inside. I felt we were an after thought and he set my wine down on the table as he continued walking to clear another tables dishes. In a fine dining setting you want to have the whole classy experience. This did not happen. I have been coming here for 30 years. I hadn't been for a couple years and I made my reservation a couple months ago, as I was really looking forward to a nice evening with my husband. Hope they can work on a few service issues.

It's a very charming restaurant and we were super lucky to get a Wednesday evening 5:30 PM reservation a mere 5 hours in advance. Our dinner experience was amazing! The food came out hot, the flavors and sauces were outstanding, and the service was fantastic. We ordered the Lobster Wontons appetizer, White Shrimp Fresh Sea Scallops & ¼ Maine Lobster Tail with Fettucine entree, and the Oregon Petrale Sole daily fish special. The soup of the day was Cauliflower soup. The lobster wonton appetizer came with 3 wontons. The ginger, shiitake mushrooms, and other seasonings paired very well with the lobster. The Chinese mustard and red chili dipping sauce served on the side was HOT and we felt the wontons had plenty enough flavor without the need to add any hot sauce. Rating: 8 I wasn't expecting to like the cauliflower soup but it was really really good! I'm not a huge fan of cauliflower or of soup in general, but the cauliflower flavor had a perfect subtleness and was accented with a touch of cumin seasoning. Rating: 8 My wife had the Oregon Petrale Sole. She described it as very flavorful (blend of lemon, garlic, and mushroom flavors and a light panko coating) and cooked to perfection. Rating: 10 I ordered the Shrimp, Scallop, Lobster Tail with Fettucine. OMG! Per the menu: "sautéed w/ red bell peppers, fresh basil, tomatoes, mushrooms and lemon garlic butter; cheese & onion." The sauce was sooooo amazing and perfectly compliment the seafood. I couldn't stop raving about the flavor even after arriving back at the hotel room. Rating: 10+ Our server was John and we thoroughly enjoyed the additional side conversations with him throughout our seating. (Ask him if he's ever tried moose.)

There are few places at the level of this one in the area, which automatically makes Soule Domain the front-runner in the region. We love the cozy dining atmosphere; it makes it feel like you're eating in some secluded cabin in the woods, which you kinda are. It is and will always be our favorite place in the area. BB

My husband and I have been to Soule Domain a few times over the years and it never disappoints!! We went on Valentine's Day last week and as always, it was delicious. The food presentation is always lovely. We were seated right in front of the fireplace so it was very romantic ....and the light snow falling outside the nearby window added to the warm romantic ambiance! It's a must if you're in the Northlake Tahoe and you are in the mood for 5 Star food in a romantic venue. RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST as this restaurant books up quickly!! And, our server Jesse was delightful, professional and attentive!!

The address is King's Beach but this is really close to Crystal Bay (before driving down the hill to King's beach). The outside is sooo cute. The interior and small and intimate. They have a nice selection of wine. The staff is friendly and the head waiter is very knowledgeable. The food was delicious. One of our favorite dining experiences in Tahoe. Pricing was fair approx $40ish for entrees (some cheaper and some more expensive). The intimate environment would be great for dates or holiday. I would recommend making a reservation via their website as it was small inside.

My partner and I stopped by this restaurant after seeing all of the good reviews. We were in South Lake Tahoe for a few days for our anniversary and prepared all of our meals, so we thought we'd go out to a nice dinner for our anniversary. Surprisingly, it was extremely difficult to get a table and decided to sit outside since that was all that was available. We were greeted warmly by the bartender who checked in on us and served us the entire night. He was super friendly and gave us some recommendations on what to order. I got the fish and my boyfriend got the Thai noodle soup dish and Penne Alfredo. Another server brought the soup and held the bowl with his fingertips, obviously still scorching hot and filled to the brim. Some of the soup splashed onto the ground as he made his way over to us. The soup was extremely sour with absolutely no seasoning. My fish was not a pretty sight- slathered with an unidentifiable sauce that was neither sweet nor sour. The fish on its own was cooked well, but the sauce completely ruined the entire dish. The fettucini Alfredo was the only thing that saved us from going hungry that night, although it lacked flavor, its ingredients were identifiable and thus, easy to digest. I would highly recommend adjusting your expectations before visiting this restaurant given the high reviews.

Chefs commitment to sustainability is commendable, making this elegant and romantic log cabin restaurant a gem in Kings Beach. I recommend this place alone for its warm and rustic decor, complete with a rusti fireplace, creating an ambiance that's both cozy and romantic. The staff is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive, adding to the overall exceptional dining experience. From the moment we were served wine and homemade bread with hummus, to the beautifully presented and delicious salad, soup, and entree, every course was a delight .A special shout out to our waiter for recommending we take extra bread for the sauces - he was absolutely right! The duck breast was wonderful. This place is a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique dining experience. It's worth every penny and has quickly become one of my very favorite places to eat on the North Shore.

Incredible gem in Tahoe City. Steven took great care with our group of 7 last night for a 40th birthday. It's been a long time since I've seen service this sharp, witty & patient. Truly an outstanding professional. He alone, should really win an award. I mean, really really special. Worth it to go even just for Steven - but the food and ambience were absolutely top tier as well. We felt so lucky to have found this perfect spot. Thank you again, Soule Domain, for making us feel at home and without judgement. OH! and their homemade ice cream is fantastic!!!

Came back to Soule domain with my parents who were in town and had another excellent and memorable meal. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside enjoying the breeze and the woodsy, classic cozy cabin setting. The Riesling wine that we tried was perfect, not too sweet as some rieslings are, very smooth. Our favorite dish were the sea scallops that were so tender and tasty, little pillowy succulent rounds of perfection. I enjoyed my duck breast and the raspberry sauce was the perfect topping. I love how homemade all the food at Soule domain tastes, the sides of rice and veggies are well roasted and tasty without any salt, butter or added ingredients, just the simple good stuff at Soule domain. The Hawaiian Ono fish was also really tasty and something I had never tried before! Love new and exciting dishes. The starter tomato soup was amazing, so decadent and didn't even taste like it had tomatoes in it- perfect. Our server was really helpful in describing the different meal options and what was available. I love coming to Soule domain for a treat yourself meal- always quality, great service and great food!

Epic dinner and service! We think our server was Steven, so attentive, perfect interaction and suggestions from the menu! The food was epic! Perfectly cooked, stupendous flavor and presentation was fantastic! We have wanted to come here for years and glad we finally made it! We will be back! What a special gem in Tahoe! The cabin is charming inside. The chef/owner has been at this site for 30 years and he is there 5 nights a week. There are so many unique items on the menu we had to have almost all of them. We started with three scallop dishes and loved the Meyer lemon sauce. I loved my duck served with an amazing sauce. I would get that again. We thought we had to take dessert to go but we had a couple of bites which were memorable. The bread pudding was Devine and the strawberry cheesecake equally good. We will return!

Very good food and service. We dined there once before about 10 years ago and loved it. It's a very quint place. Loved my chicken thighs with mustard sauce. Dessert was delicious and they had a candle for my birthday. They could use a little bit of extra cleaning. Cobwebs in the rafters and the men's room could use some TLC. We would definitely dine there again.

I messed up our reservation with a serendipitous outcome: we dined in the garden wine bar with the wonderful Rachelle as our caretaker. The advantages of the garden are that you can choose from the wine bar menu or the main menu, you are in the fresh air, and Rachelle. Fresh warm breads, spreadable butter, and hummus arrived gratis, and then came the wines we ordered which impressed with generous pours and respectful prices. The old vine Zinfandel, Amador County, was surprisingly good, full and rich. We ordered two appetizers: fettuccine, and raviolis, both delicious, and two incredible salads, one with 2 perfectly cooked and tender lamb chops, and one with lean venison sausages, both with a lovely mound of greens and garnishes including cheese crumbles, fresh, crispy croutons, and lightly dressed. As it was my husband's birthday dinner we ordered dessert, a rarity at this point as most are disappointing and just calories. Well, wow. The homemade ice cream is lightly "spiced", so flavorful, and served with berries and a crisp, textured, tasty cookie. It's like 3 desserts in one, and more than enough for two to share. We were so pleased with our entire experience, and mainly due to the very gracious Rachelle. Try the garden wine bar, you will not be sorry. The dining rooms are no doubt lovely as well, I just can't speak to that first hand. There is a fireplace which must be ultra-cozy in winter.

What a cozy log cabin feel of an intimate and fancy, small scale prepared meal restaurant. I mean that surprises of fennel, the 2 types of complimentary breads and their home made ice cream are appreciated. Small scale but big flavor and great menu selections for their size. Also, their price fix menu is a deal. Oh, and they have a cellar full amount of wine bottles to choose from. Glasses of wine served, too. I enjoyed the filet mignon smothered in fancy shrooms and a dark sauce. Meat soft with crisped edges. Yum. Make reservations as they are a log cabin sized house establishment.

Congratulations, u just found the undisputed best dinner in northlake . Also winning for most cozy atmosphere & friendliest staff.. an experience to treasure... if u can get in , then do it.

I'd give this place 10 stars if it was available! I've been dining here for MANY years (30!) and it's about time I wrote a review... This hidden gem is on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, on the California side of the stateline between Nevada & California in King's Beach. The classic "log cabin", which they converted to a restaurant when they opened in 1985, has some of the best "atmosphere" I've ever experienced and some of the best food I've ever tasted! The log cabin is small and charming, but inside, it doesn't feel stuffy. With exposed rafters under a high roof, there is a feeling of spaciousness combined with the intimacy of the cabin's size. The decor is plain and understated, yet distinctive. Family artifacts and heirlooms abound, along with vintage photographs from around the lake. It all lends itself to an alluring atmosphere which complements the excellent food and service. They proudly feature local artists throughout the restaurant's log cabin walls and periodically rotate who is being showcased. The Chef/Owner chooses artists that he personally knows and wants to support. Customers are encouraged to buy directly from the restaurant or welcome to contact the artist themselves. The Chef/Owner, Charlie Soule, is a genius in the kitchen, presenting food with his own unique touch, giving traditional dishes their own twist from his extensive years in the culinary arts, while infusing them with influences from around the globe. His distinctive original dishes are stellar! This beats any other place I've dined at in the area and is on par, if not better than, any place I've ever dined at anywhere. The manager/head waiter, Steve Soule, the owner's brother, has his amazing staff on point at all times...I've never had anything but an excellent experience every time I've been here. There's an extensive wine list, including a nice selection of Port wine and they'll lead you to the exact wine you want to pair with your meal. There's always a nice selection of outstanding specials and the "standard" menu is loaded with delectable items. Everything on the menu is delicious! My band is currently playing music in the afternoons every Sunday for the summer/fall season at a private resort 7 minutes away from this place, so, I've made it a point to go here as often as possible after my gig is over, since it had been a while since the last time I made it by. This might of been my favorite meal on my Vacation. The inside was very cabin-like but the music in the background almost didn't go with the interior but I was feeling it. One of the songs was from a group called Tuxedo that I love on YouTube so I was diggin it. But overall the food was amazing. I recommend everything. Prices are very generous for the quality of food you get too. I don't even like Corn Chowder and I had a sip of it and thought it wasn't too bad. This particular night I ordered the Fettuccine with Shrimp and it was the best Fettuccine I've had in awhile. The sauce was to die for. The vegetables tasted fresh and just all the flavors hit in the right ways. My girl got the Pork Tenderloin and I also had a bite of that. The meat was sooo tender and flavorful. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a good sit down dinner. I will say that the service is amazing as well but on our particular visit they kept filling up our water glasses after 1 or two sips. When it comes to restaurants I will say that I always prefer to be checked on a lot versus being ignored but I do think the water being filled up every couple minutes is a little excessive. Not really a complaint but just a suggestion. Service regardless was above and beyond.

Our bottle of champagne- and lame to have more excuses for such a small place. And I could go on about the service and the fact there was no seasoning on the tofu and very little shiitake mushrooms which vegetarians need for the protein aspect.

I heard it's a more smaller establishment and glad I made a reservation. A more intimate and adult restaurant with elevated food choices. In other word, no pub grub. A more special night, at least for me. Service was great and the many servers sure race around with ease. They provide complimentary bread and hummus dip. I did ask for the butter and the butter made the bread for me! I like how their entrees come with a cup of their soup of the day which will be original. The ambience, service and selections of dishes are wonderful and interesting. It wasn't cheap but I think you get a special meal that is not the usual, which is a good thing for me.

Went to Soule Domain for my fiancés birthday. Overall it wasn't a great experience due to the service. The food was tasty, fresh and full of flavor. However our bad service really dampened the experience. Our server was a tall slender man with a very full dark beard. We waited a long time to actually see him and order drinks. He lacked enthusiasm especially because we were celebrating. We also ordered the most expensive wine on the menu, and after ordering apps, we did not see him again for 45 minutes. This was super disappointing considering we were hungry and wanted to order and clearly were in the mood to spend money. I will say that every other server we interacted with was helpful and we had our water refilled about 1000 times which was super nice. I also made a note on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and we weren't brought any dessert or any type of celebratory thing. Even after dinner, we ordered dessert that we ended up getting to-go because we just didn't want to stay there any longer and be ignored. As we are leaving, our waiter says "oh I should've brought you a scoop of ice cream and a candle" like why would you say that as we were leaving and then not do it? He really just ignored us all night. Overall the service wasn't good at all and I don't think i'll be back. Went to Smoke Door the next night (across the street) and the service was outstanding.

Everything at Soule Domain was wonderful! There is limited parking in front of the restaurant and a private lot across the street--no parking issues for us. We made a reservation for two to sit outside and were seated in a little nook in their beautiful garden. Our server was great, and all the dishes were excellent; we had a scallop special for appetizers, duck breast and dinner special which was kanpachi for entrees, and Queen of Sheba and freshly cut strawberries for dessert. Scallops were cooked perfectly, and the duck and kanpachi were just a little bit more on the rare side which is what we prefer anyway. We usually never finish our plates nor order dessert, but the food was outstanding. Definitely recommend Soule Domain if you're in the area!

A good restaurant experience. The scallops were super amazing! I had the Thai chicken which was yummy. My wife had the chicken thighs which were also good. Great service and atmosphere!

Absolutely fantastic food, delivered, excruciatingly, slowly, by an arrogant waiter. We saw him three times during the entire dinner. If you don't mind waiting an hour and a half for your entrée, this place is for you.

Arrogant and inattentive service. We arrived early and were greeted with derision. No smile, no welcome, just, "We're going to need another 20 minutes." Asked if there was a bar where we could wait. The outside bartender was great. We were seated at 7:30. Entrees came at 9:00. Appetizers, salad, soup were also slow to be served. Waiter came by once after taking our order and before the main course arrived. We had been waiting about one hour before he came back to our table. I asked about the salad we had ordered. I thought he must have forgotten. He said it was coming. After that, the complimentary soup. I asked if they could be served together because we were really hungry. No, they could not. Didn't come back to offer dessert, but someone else did. I left a 10% ($30) tip, which was far beyond what he deserved. He called me on my way home to ask about my experience. He was clearly angry about the tip. HE DID NOT CARE ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE AND WAS NOT INTERESTED IN RECEIVING CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK. He said that he thought he had done a great job as a server, but didn't hesitate to say the host was often gruff. I POSTED A SIMILAR REVIEW ON ANOTHER PLATFORM. THE OWNER WROTE BACK AND SAID THEY DID NOT AGREE WITH MY REVIEW, TIMEFRAME FOR SERVICE SOUNDED RIGHT, AND HEARD THAT I HAD BEEN RUDE. I was not rude. Is it rude to ask about a salad one hour after you have ordered it? What's rude is having your server hassle you on the phone and then have the owner characterize you as rude for asking about a salad that took more than an hour to be served. I WISH I HAD READ THE SIMILAR REVIEWS OF THIS RESTAURANT BEFORE GOING. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. Arrogant and dismissive reply from the owner. Went to Christy Hill tonight. Better food and infinitely better service.

My wife and I had dinner here on January 24 which just so happens to be the day we got married earlier in the day. Food was great. Ambience was great. The service was great, but what made our experience so special was our waitress Jessie B. She was phenomenal! She knew the new dishes perfectly. Explained everything so well and had the best personality. Most waitresses interrupt their patrons s while they're having a private conversation, but Jessie B. was so tactful and knew when to come to our table! We've been to so many restaurants over the years and served by many waiters and waitresses but Jessie was one of the best we've come across. Come for the food, service and atmosphere but mostly ask for Jessie B.! Eric & Jill Habener

Came here for dinner the other day for dinner. I was very grateful they can fit us in the same day. It was a cute little log cabin, has a homey feeling With a fire place. The fire went out half way during dinner and the room became very smoky which somewhat "ruined" dinner. Was hard to breath inside. I have to say, the appetizer was wowzer and the entrees was not so impressive. We started off with lobster wonton, I can barely taste the lobster but the flavor was there. Everything came together in this dish, The dough of the wonton was al dente, good twist to the traditional wontons. The Thai scallop was yummy! The scallops were cooked perfected. I liked the sauce a lot especially with the noodles on the side. They even used reals lemongrass. Very authentic and different. The mushroom fettuccine was probably the best dish that night. Omg the pasta was soooooo good! I think they make it in house. The use of the shiitake was brilliant. It's almost like a piccata but its not. Who would of thought caper and shiitake can marry that well together. Pear Salad was light, I appreciate they separating them into 2 different dishes. The soup was light and packed of flavor! the specialty that night was the chicken Parmesan, not the traditional chicken parm with tomato sauce, this one had a Mediterranean twist. Chicken was cooked excellent but I'm not sure about the olive and the sauce. I mean it is pretty good, but I was really looking forward to a more Italian twist. Duck was good, even better after I took it home. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, almost a little too sweet, the strawberries lighten up the dish but could use some kind of citrus flavor. The udon was disappointing. Too many different kind of vegetables, some didn't go so well with others. I rather the chef picked fewer vegetables that work well together. This is kind of like a teriyaki stir fry. We were in a hurry to leave so we didn't even get dessert, not even the complimentary ones that suppose to come with the dinner special. And they didnt even offer to pack it to go for us. Kinda bummed about that. Price is decent. Service was attentive at the beginning but definitely slowed down when it got busy.

Everything we ordered from Soule Domain was delicious. I had the lamb chops, lobster raviolis, and arugula salad, and for desert we split the bread pudding and strawberry cheesecake. It was Probably one of the best meals I've had! The service was 5 stars along with the choices and quality of food!!

Absolutely lovely host and service. The food to die for. Hummus & bread, pasta, swordfish, and salads were very delicious. The variety of wines and menu . Will definitely be a must do trip when we visit again.

Soule Domain is a hidden gem of north Lake Tahoe that continues to impress. I've been here many times and have never had a bad experience. In addition to the food being delicious, the waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable. I'm always happy to recommend Soule Domain to friends and family.

I waited too long to post my review and based on the pictures that I took, I don't even remember what I got. What I do remember is that it was decent...pricing was fair to high, but it's ok. It is a very intimate restaurant and if you're looking for something more "special" than what is typically offered around Lake Tahoe, and this area in particular, then this is a good choice. I remember everything tasting ok enough, but it wasn't enough for me to remember anything great. We also got 3 desserts and I also don't remember anything great about it. I do remember that some parts of the food were just weird. LIke, let's just throw some random fruit onto a dish and call it a day. And in all honesty, it's not like it tasted bad or something, some of the fruit actually complemented it pretty well so if you're into unique type of things, this place might fit the bill. Service was great and attentive

Wow. Wow. Wow. Food, service, atmosphere. Check check check! Every dish we had was decadent (salads, lobster wontons, lamb, cod, scallops, shrimp fettuccine). Dessert was incredible! Cheesecake, bread pudding, cookies -- order it all! Jessie was our server and she was an absolute delight. We never had an empty water glass and everything was perfectly timed. Def recommend!

This restaurant is one of the best restaurants in all of Lake Tahoe. We have been there several times and always have excellent service and food.

We had a wonderful experience. The staff was incredible. We had the Rack of Lamb & Filet Mignon for dinner. Our appetizers, the Thai scallops, lobster wontons, and arugula salad were beyond delicious. We could taste the skill & passion in every dish we had. This is by far the best food we have had in the area. The ambiance is romantic and everything is ran professionally. Looking forward to our next visit.

Hey everyone! It's that time of year for our celebratory trip to the Soule Domain! Jess is our server this year who provided attentive service, (thanks, Jess!) We ordered the Mahi-mahi special with the Miso sesame sauce, the Shrimp and shared the amazing Meyer lemon blackberry cheesecake for dessert. We have never been disappointed here. Thanks Charlie!

What I liked best about our experience at Soule Domain was the friendliness/helpfulness of all staff. They are a small restaurant, and because of this I'm sure there can be conflicts when people try to make last-minute reservations or when it's just plain busy. But we had an early dinner-5pm. And everyone was on their game. The owner came around the dining room and checked on us. He was even waiting some tables ( maybe regulars?). It's nice when the owners don't mind interacting with the customers like this. The small building mirrors the rustic charm of this North Tahoe area. So it doesn't really look as much like a restaurant, but a log cabin in the woods. Parking can be tough when it's busy, so glad we came early. The dinner-Many dishes incorporate Asian and Italian flavors and they're heavy on seafood (as they should being at the Lake). We didn't think we would like the curry cauliflower soup (not fans of curry) but it was mild and not so bad. My shrimp dish sautéed with veggies and wild rice tasted delicious, but warning-it's a little spicy for those who are sensitive. Hubby's filet mignon was tender and had very good flavor, but it seemed as it was braised in the pepper sauce so it was more like a roast. He's not a huge sauce on steak fan. But still it was hearty. Try the other filet plate if you like your steak sauce less. The "Queen of Sheba" chocolate almond torte was pretty good. Not as moist as we like, but the raspberry sauce and cream made up for it. Sorbet was great. There is an extensive wine list, not much in the way of cocktails. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny, but to have a nice time!

Incredible cheesecake!!!! The chicken thighs and shrimp fettuccine were also above expectations. We got a Togo order but I would love to dine in next time, the place is adorable! I see why they are Zagat approved

Love the ambience and decor of the restaurant as always. Been coming here for over 20 years. But a little disappointed that Steve our waiter charged us for a dessert that was not what he offered or given to us. Even after telling him of the error he said nothing. He left and came back and didn't even give us an itemized receipt for our dinner. Disappointing for a long time customer.
