Having walked past Soulmate a few times before, I thought it about time I dropped by.
There were four of us for brunch on a Saturday morning and not taking online bookings, it’s a waitlist in order of arrival. Every seat was taken and there was a constant stream of people for takeaway, obviously a very popular café!
We ended up waiting about 25 minutes which yes is a while, but totally acceptable on a Saturday
morning. People were continuing to arrive after us so that proves how good the café must be.
Once seated and coffees ordered, the menu offerings catered for all. Vegan and vegetarian options
as well as options for the carnivores among us. It was difficult to choose but we went with 2 vegan
dishes and a couple of brekkie burgers. I almost ordered the hamburger, but my brain told me it
was a lunch meal not a brekkie…. sheesh!
The food arrived looking delicious and it tasted just as good. Vegan options (Tofu Scramble and
Mushroom Melt) both got the stamp of approval as did our Brekkie Burgers. I particularly liked the
folded egg on the burger, no runny yolks and just as tasty!
The café is tucked away in a back street off Enmore Road and I’m guessing it originally began as a
local’s hangout but has since become well known outside of the “bubble”.
Definitely give Soulmate a go if you’re in the area. Just don’t do what I did…. go rogue and order the
hamburger for brekkie! 😛
