The 38 Best Restaurants in Sydney, Australia | Eater

"Soulmate is aptly named because it offers everything you’re looking for (in a brunch, anyway). Co-owner Mitch Jones’s menu features greatest hits with unique twists. The mushroom toastie benefits from a gentle sizzle of chile oil and rich kale butter made with sunflower seeds. The Soulmate Bae roll is gooey with house-made sambal, herb mayo, and Nanna’s cheese (the Red Leicester that Jones always saw in his grandmother’s fridge). Even the vegan tofu scramble, which can be criminally rubbery and flavorless when done wrong, is outstanding. The friendly staff will efficiently pack your order if you’re opting for takeaway. Best for: Relaxing with good coffee in a quiet corner of Newtown." - Lee Tran Lam

My friends and I heard really great things about Soulmate and had been wanting to try it for a while. Unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. We came on Saturday around mid morning. The cafe was very busy. We stood outside and waited about half an hour for a table. Once inside, it was noisy. I don't know if it was the acoustics of the place but the music and the conversations of others was very loud. It was hard for my friends and I to hear each other and maintain conversation. Service was initially good. Staff were very friendly, warm, courteous and welcoming. Our food and drinks came shortly after ordering which we appreciated. After we finished our food though, we wanted to order more drinks. We asked a waiter for the menu which was promptly brought to us. We waited some time however but no one came back. We did try and call a waiter over but still no one came. We eventually paid our bill for what we already had and left. I ordered the breakfast burger. I thought it was tasty. I found it to be on the expensive side though, especially in comparison to other cafes I have been to. By the time the weekend surcharge was added, it was almost $20. My friend ordered the Soulmate bae roll and found it to be average. Another friend ordered the avo toast. We all commented that portions were on the smaller side.

Soulmate Marrickville has a warm, friendly vibe with great coffee and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is creative without being overcomplicated, and the staff are welcoming. A nice spot for both a casual brunch or just a quick coffee.

Loved this place!! Such awesome vibes, fun stuff and delish food. Got the coffee with cream (can’t normally get that in Australia gave me NZ vibes) and salad with a tofu scramble and loved it!! Friends porridge was also amazing.

The atmosphere is so beautiful there. Chairs to sit inside as well as outside enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. The food is so delicious. Crisp and perfectly made. The fried were also good. It was crispy and felt good to eat. The coffee options were also very great and reasonable pricing. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Overall it was a beautiful place to have breakfast or any other meal and friendly staff is a plus. And easy to find as well.

Popped in for a morning coffee and ended up staying for breakfast too. Even though it was a Tuesday, the place was buzzing! Definitely a cool vibe going on. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Bonus points for the playlist – they were spinning Wolf Alice and Inhaler at that time, which is totally my vibe 🤙🏻

Second time I’ve been here and both have been fantastic! The food is amazing - I’m really in love with the bagel with added tomato and haloumi - and the cold brew oat milk coffee is divine! The staff are always super friendly and helpful and it’s just such a lovely atmosphere. I love that the outdoor section is dog friendly so I get to spot super cute dogs whilst dining.
