Coronavirus Precautions Make Feeding Food-Insecure Seniors a Challenge | Eater

"This senior-focused nonprofit in Seattle, whose community dining and home-delivery programs serve thousands of clients, has avoided full closure and instead ramped up precautions: shuttles are cleaned twice daily (rather than weekly), high-touch surfaces are disinfected multiple times per day, and volunteer drivers have been redeployed to deliver meals and medications. The organization emphasizes maintaining service for those most in need while minimizing transmission risk." - Virginia Gewin

I cannot express enough gratitude to sound generations for helping my parents, and continue to do so. They have helped with minor home repairs, from adding railings for safety to fixing outlets and adding an exterior gate. They are so so wonderful. They have also majorly helped with legal/home/medicaid concerns for free to protect my mom in the future. So grateful for their services. All the staff I have encountered are true gems.

They should teach their drivers not to run red lights. Red means stop not slam the gas at Lander in SoDo. Someone might get hurt

Needed medical transportation to a doctors appointment and found Sound Generations through a referral. Set up an account by phone and scheduled the date. Got an automated call confirming the ride a week before. A couple days before the ride the driver called and got my ride information and locations. Seamless pickup and she waited for me to finish the appointment. Friendly cordial and patient driver doing saintly volunteer work. Made my day. Highly recommended.

When their Meals on Wheels program works it is grand. When it doesn't it can spark disaster for a disabled elder. Right now trying to find out did my weekly order and mobile market requests go though for delivery Friday. Phone is busy all the time...I run out of food in 2 days. No call back to give them new debit card info they need. They are good people. But, something goes wrong with my account at the start of every year it seems. I had food security last year for the 1st time in my life. I am 68 years old. Now I am starting the new year food insecure again.....ebt cut 75%...health insurance dropped their frozen meals delivery without notice...Meals on Wheels is all I got left for affordable adequate food....It seems to be tradition to drop me at the start of each year...it is weird to realize my cat has food security when I do not... Next? Taper off all maintenance medication that requires taking with food...

Thank you for this service. I just received my first order today. Excellent service from the coordinators and the volunteer delivery folks. I had the country fried steak. I microwaved it on defrost for 2 minutes, stirred it, and then on high for 2.5 minutes. Very filling and like anything else added some spices and a pat of margarine to the mashed potatoes. I'm recovering from surgery and it was difficult for me to fix something to eat. Thank you, Meals on Wheels. You made life so much easier for me.

Apparently, Meals on Wheels has decided to add the Covid virus to their deliveries. We are in the second highest outbreak since the start of the pandemic, but the people delivering do not wear masks. They are serving a vulnerable populace. I have called repeatedly asking them to reinstate mask wearing for delivery and have received no response.
